Here is yet another bug in Outlook 2013 which remains at large.
Yes, "schedule an automatic send/receive" is not functioning, except in the case of Hotmail/Outlook.com
The only time new emails are getting download are when the Send/Receive button is clicked, or when the inbox of the account is selected.
Other than that Email is not getting checked/downloaded every thirty minutes as it is setup to do.
Oh, and please none of those generic "create a new profile" answers.

After upgrade to outlook 2013 Contacts have the default picture in reading pane
I'm using Windows 8 on a domain (using a domain account not a Microsoft account) connecting to Exchange, all my Contacts were outlook contacts with pictures and other data, I could see the picture of the contact in the reading pane and people pane while
using Outlook 2010.
After the upgrade to Outlook 2013 the contacts are not lost (I can see them in the People Hub) but it appears that they are unavailable in the reading pane because all I can see is the default picture (the default picture picture is also visible in the notifications).
If I put the mouse over the name of the people while in the reading pane all I can see is the card with the default info (the only data visible is that the contact is available in the next 8 hours), if I compose a new message and hover the name of the contact
i can see the card with all the data (picture, company, etc.).
Is this the default behavior in Outlook 2013 if you are in a domain and not connected to any service or there is a way to show the picture of my contacts in every part of outlook?No, it should be available still. Did you recreate this mail profile after the upgrade?
Try forcing a complete update of the Office Line Address Book via the Send/Receive tab-> Send/Receive Groups-> Download Address Book

I am trying to install iCloud Control Panel 2.1.1 for Windows 8 (64bit & current on all Windows updates) with Outlook 2013 on my daughters computer and when I try to log in I get the following error:
You can't sign in because of a server error.
If I go to icloud.com I sign in with no problem. Any recommendations to fix this?

Limiting an email user's send/receive abilities
We're running Mac OS X Server 10.4.7 on our mail server. Everything is running great.
What I want to know is if it's possible to set up a special email account (like [email protected]) that can access webmail to communicate with specific @myschool.com addresses (and no others), but cannot talk to the outside world. But I need to make sure all other email accounts continue to work like regular old email accounts that can talk to anyone.
For example, [email protected] can only send/receive messages to/from [email protected], the math teacher's email address. But [email protected] can send/receive messages to/from anyone. This would be very handy for us.Doing so will cause issues. If you send out mail which to an outside server appears to be non existent, mail may be rejected and you may even be blacklisted.
You can remove the account from WGM and add a role account as an alias send to /dev/null. This will look to the outside world like an existing address, but simply be discarded on your system. You should however include a working address in your mailings for people to be able to respond.
Assuming you use local domains, edit /etc/postfix/aliases and add:
noreply: /dev/null
(you can change noreply with the sender used in your PHP apps, but I'd probably change the PHP apps to use noreply as this signals to people receiving your mails that this address is unattended).
When done, issue:
sudo postalias /etc/postfix/aliases
sudo newaliases
sudo postfix reload

Windows 2012R2 RDS - Outlook 2013 preview handler not working

We have an Windows 2012R2 RDS environment with Outlook 2013 installed. Currently we are experiencing some issues with the preview handler for non-administrator users. With an Administrator account it is working without issues.
All users that open WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT or other office applications see the following error:
This file cannot be previewed because of an error with the following previewer:
Word/Excel/Powerpoint
To open this file in its own program, double-click it.
Other programs like Windows Media Player (voicemail messages), Image viewer, Notepad are working.
Any idea what we can do to make this work?

After doing some research, this behavior might be related a DCOM permission. I suggest checking this point:
1. Go to Component Services and Open it.
2. Expand Component Services, click on Computers, then right click on My Computer and go to “properties".
3. Click on Default Properties tab, and make sure the following is set:
Default Authentication Level: Connect
Default Impersonation Level: Identify
If it’s a permission issue, we can use process monitor to get the logs.

a) On the machine which we will reproduce the issue, download Process Monitor from the following link:

d) In Outlook, reproduce the issue by click the “Copy to my Calendar”, then start the capture (CTRL+E).
e) Save (File -> Save ) the Process Monitor log and upload the log file (Logfile.PML) to me.

Please collect logs for an administer and a non-admin user.

Outlook 2013 email stuck in outbox and after restart outlook deletes them
We're running outlook 2013 + Exchange 2010 SP3.
I have a user that twice now has called helpdesk to say his email is stuck in his outbox. His client was in cached mode but connected to the exchange server. The first time, after trying a manual send/receive, I exited outlook and very quickly saw the outbox
empty of the 9 items that were there. I went over to sent items expecting to see them there and they weren't. The recipients never received the emails.
Today, the same thing happened (it's 2 weeks later and he hasn't had the problem since) but this time we saved everything before exiting outlook. When outlook started again, the messages in outbox were deleted. I did message tracking on the transport servers
and they never made even made it to the hub transport. However, because I had a record of the precise emails he was responding to this time, I search for them and they actually show that he has replied at X:XX time, but they were never sent.
I think this has something to do with cached mode so I've switched his client to online mode in the meantime but I was wondering if anyone has seen anything like this. It's the first time I've ever seen outlook (Any version) actually delete email.I'm getting the exact same thing with one of my users.
We're using Gmail connecting to outlook through a add-in (Google Apps Sync).
The user in question has this occur about once a month. As we don't use exchange it can't be the link to exchange that's causing this. I think it's got to be down to something in the local mail cache, OST file?
We have a lot of users in our business, none have reported this issue apart from this one user. The only thing which differentiates this user from the rest is that she has a lot of PST files mapped and open at any time. I'm talking like 30+ which is
killing performance. I know this is a huge NO NO in terms of operations but this user is adamant that she needs each and every PST open. She has management back her up with this so my hands are tied. I'm wanting to abolish outlook and just use gmail, just
so that I have an excuse to get all her mail in the cloud.
But anyway, this has to be something to do with the local mail store running out of memory or something like that.
If I ever get mails into the cloud, I'll let you all know if this issue stops occurring. -
Outlook 2013 Email Header Being Cut Off
Outlook 2013 is cutting off the email header on multiple emails. See screenshot below.

First, we can try to start Outlook with /cleanviews command to check if this issue is caused by corrupted view. To do this, exit Outlook, press Windows key + R, type
outlook.exe /cleanviews in the Run dialog and press Enter.
In addition, please go to Control Panel > Clock, Language and Region
> Region > Click on Administrative tab and check which language for non-Unicode programs did you set. Please change it to default English to check if it helps.
If problem persists, we can try to create a new mail profile and set up your email account in the new profile to check the result. See:

In outlook 2013 emails,pdf attachments are not showing in pdf formats

We are using outlook 2013 as pop account for our official email communication.One of the laptop is having windows 7 professional operating systems and the email we are using as outlook 2013 in that laptop.
The issue is that when we try to attach the pdf documents in outlook 2013,it is attaching but it is not showing in pdf format and it is showing as notepad or word file.
when we try to open the notepad ,word file,it is opening in pdf format and also the client is receiving in pdf format.
If we attach the pdf document in email,it should show in pdf format.
Some settings are changed and i need your support to fix the issue.

Are the PDF files showing with the PDF icon or other icons in your local disk?
Please start Outlook in sate mode and test again. To do this, press Windows key + R to open the Run command, type
outlook /safe and press Enter.
In addition, you may also try to clean out the Temporary Outlook Files folder to check the result. See:

Yesterday, i have upgraded the outlook mails 2007 to outlook 2013.Today i have uninstalled the Ms-Office 2007 and try to open the outlook 2013.The application is not working and showing the message of quick repair (or) go to online to fix the issue.

Both of them rely on some system files and some interrelated registry keys. So, this is a direct result of that interdependence. When you uninstall the previous version of Office from your computer, it will definitely break the existing installation, a repair
is required to fix all the corrupt registry entries.
We do not recommend to install multiple versions of Office on one computer, we suggest you to completely remove any previous version first if you do not plan to use any of the Office applications of a previous version of Office, then install it.
