Windows 10 - Windows Updat for Officejet Pro 6830

Windows 10 Windows Update is continually failing with the following message. • HP - Enterprise WSD Multi-Function Printer, Other hardware - Null Fax - HP Officejet Pro 6830 - Error 0x80070490 This has now happened on 2 completely different PC's that use My Printer.

SOLVED !!! Take a look at the following :- http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Software-Drivers/Error-0x8024200b/td-p/5176900 Didn't work varbatim but put Me on the right track.  Here what I did. From Settings, search for "Device Manager".  Under Printers I had 2 "Unidentified Printers".  I Right Clicked & uninstalled both. Run Windows Update again & failed update had gone, however I was unable to print anymore. Back to Settings Initial Window & select Devices, then Printers & Scanners.  I removed all entries for HP Printers, Fax etc. I then selected "Add a printer or scanner" from the top of the Printers & Scanners Menu.  It searched & found My Officejet Pro 6830. I then double clicked the HP Officejet Pro 6830 Icon on My Desktop & it installed the Printer again. All now working & no more failed Windows Updates :-)

    Hi,
Be sure to follow the steps below to install the printer on a Windows 2008 server, the installation should not be used as standard, but by customizing the installer using an Msiexe ccommand.:

  • New Officejet Pro 6830 will not print via USB connection. It scans great to PC. It copies.

New HP Officejet Pro 6830 for user to have local USB printer/scanner at desk.  User runs win 7 64 bit on a network.  Raninstall through setup.exe.  Followed steps, connected printer via USB when it said to and it detected it and finished install. You can use HP Scan software and it scans to the PC perfectly.  It will not print from any application or even a testpage from the Printer Properties page.  If you go to the maintenance application it will print status and test page.  If you run HP Scan and Print doctor it does it's thing, gives all Green Check marks and lets you print a test page fine, but it stillwill not print even a test page from the printer properties page (start/Devices and  Pritners/right click on Officejet Pro 6830, select Printer Properties for Officejet Pro 6830 (not the Fax 6830), and click print test page.   It does not seethe printer.  It is a networked PC and has network defined HP network printers as well but user wanted a printer/scanner at his desk.   I actually took the unit and connected to my laptop which is same win 7 64 bit platform and it does the same thing.   I disable the virus protection to do the install so that is not an issue.  It clearly sees and installs the printer, andlike I said the HP Scan works fine so it is connected via the USB to the PC, but it will not print.   I have tried to install from the CD, and removed device and tried to install from the new downloaded drivers as well and it just does not want to print.I have conected to different USB ports, and like I said actually tried it on a different PC and had same results. Guidance certainly would be appreciated.

Hi , I see by your post that you can scan, but are unable to print over the USB connection. I would be happy to help you.
I have provided a document for setting Security permissions for printing to see if that will help. If the issue persists, reinstall the printer on the Administrator Account to see if you have the same results.Unlock Hidden Administrator Account and install the printer on this account:  Go to your Start menu and under the 'search programs and files' box type CMD. CMD will populate as a search option above, just right click on it and 'run as administrator'. Once CMD (Command Prompt) opens, type net user administrator /active:yes and hit enter. Next, close CMD and restart your computer. When your computer comes on log into the new account that should show. It will be called Administrator and will not have a password on it. If your computer automatically logs into your account after restart than go to your start menu click the arrow beside 'shutdown' and choose 'switch user'. Now log into the Administrator account we just unlocked.Under the Administrator account, install the printer software. Test the printer. To turn off the Admin account start back at step 1 and type in net user administrator /active:no.Please let me know the outcome. If you appreciate my efforts, please click the 'Thumbs up' button below. Thank You.

  • Officejet Pro 6830 all in one - screen stuck on "checking for printer updates"

    Windows 7 X64 install
I ran through the entire installation process and while the printer will print and will scan - the printer is hung on the message "checking for printer updates" with a red x below that message.  I let it set all night and no change.  The printer is setup as a wired network connection and can be seen with any of the tools.  I have not errors on my system.  I have uninstalled the software and reinstalled twice without success.  I tried running a firmware update, but the firmware update states that I have the latest firmware rev.  I even unplugged the printer and plugged it directly into the wall - n o change.  Evertime I startup the printer screen, just hangs on that screen.
    Please help.

I have the exact same problem with my new HP Officejet Pro 6830 printer.  Please could you provide a solution else I guess it will have to go back to the shop as I only picked it up this afternoon.
Setup went ok and it even managed to print a couple of pages.  But next time it started up (with wired ethernet connection) this problem occurred and happens every time ever since.  (It is possible to use the printer for printing and scanning via PC, but the whole time its display is showing the "checking for printer updates" message.)
This even happens if the ethernet cable is not connected on startup (meaning the printer cannot be used as a standalone printer / copier either at the moment).
If I press the red cross (which I guess cancels the update searching) then I get a blue screen saying "B871634E" for a second or so, afterwhich I get a black screen with the message "There is a problem with the printer. Turn the printer Off, then On." and cannot do anything else.  (The problem is the same after doing a printer off then on - even when following the "hard reset" procedure already mentioned.)
On checking the firmware version via the PC utility (while the printer sits there "checking for printer updates"), the PC utility app reported that the firmware was the latest version.

  • Officejet pro 6830 & windows home server 2011

Our Officejet Pro 6500 just died, and I replaced it with an Officejet Pro 6830.  The printer is connected to our server, which runs Windows Home Server 2011.  While installing I learned there is not a driver for Home Server 2011?  I also discovered that my wife cannot print wirelessly because the printer is hardwired to the network.  Really?  Everything worked with the printed that died.  These two issues are pretty major for us.  Are there workarounds?

Your Win8 PC is likely to have come with UEFI and uses GPT hard disks, so you need to install a hotfix on the server to allow it to back up the client PCs.
There’s a separate fix for each server version:
    SBS 2011 Essentials
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2781270
    Windows Storage Server 2008R2 Essentials
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2781274
    Windows Home Server 2011
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2781272
Install the hotfix, reboot the server, and you should be able to back up the PC, although in my experience, you also need to exclude any partitions on the PC that don't have drive letters.

  • Installing new HP Officejet Pro 6830 e-All-in-One series

We just installed the HP Officejet Pro 6830 e-All-in-One Series.  The screen on the printer does nothing but spin around with the notation that it is "Checking for printer updates".   Why is this happening?  Like I said, we just set it up and I am turning to this form because I can't find a Support contact phone number.  I've turned the printer off and then back on. We've installed, uninstalled, and re-installed.  About ready to pack it up and just use our old All-in-One again. Thank you!

  • Officejet Pro 6830 Won't Print!!

    Hi,
I have recently purchased an HP Officejet Pro 6830 and after being set up it just doesn't want to print.
I can't print a test page on it's own but with the HP Print and Scan Doctor it prints test pages.
It can't print from any Microsoft Office 2013 Pro Plus software but I can print from the standard Notepad and Acrobat Reader programs.
I have tried everything I could think of!
    -Reinstalling Software + Drivers
    -Restarting the Printing Spooling service
    -Reintalling Microsoft Office
-Deleting other Printers and its drivers
    -Updating network driver
-Adding the Printer using the standard microsoft "add a new printer" action
-Running the HP Print and Scan Doctor which found pretty much no issues.
    -Disabling my anti-virus and firewall
The printer is connected wirelessly everywhere and it has been setup on other computers in the house and it works fine with them. That's why I haven't returned it!
I'm an IT guy by trade but this thing has made me desperate enough to post a question here!
    Any help would be grateful.
    Thank You,
    Paul

    Hello TedWallerstedt,
I would love to try and help you, but I do need a little information first. I am linking a few HP Support documents below that will show you how to find which operating system you are using. Also, if you're using Windows, please include whether your operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit.
Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?
Which Windows operating system am I running?
Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?
Also, do you have the same issue when making a copy as opposed to a print?

  • Cannot connect to wireless network from a new HP Officejet Pro 6830

Just purchased a HP Officejet Pro 6830 wireless printer.
Set it up connecting my Dell PC and it initially worked.

ICON on screen on printer indicates "NO WIRELESS NETWORK FOUND"

  • My new HP officejet pro 6830 crashes when I connect to my Asus RT-N66U router

OfficeJet Pro 6830 crashes when connected to network (Asus RT-N66U router)
I've just taken delivery of an OfficeJet Pro 6830. I've installed the ink cartridges and it seems to be able to print copies and test pages, but I can't get it to connect to my network. Here's what I've tried:
    Using the Wireless Setup Wizard
I selected my network from the list and entered my WPA key. It says it's trying to connect, then the following happens:
    1. Briefly (for less than a second) a screen pops up showing that it has successfully connected to the network.
    2. Briefly (for less than a second) the screen flashes blue with a "power" icon and the text "B8B2A4F8" (which I presume is an error code).
    3. The screen display changes to "Printer Error: There is a problem with the printer. Turn the printer Off, then On."
    4. After restarting the printer, it complains that it has not been shut down properly.
Any further attempts to connect yield the same results.
    Ethernet connection
If I power the printer on while it is connected via an Ethernet cable to my network, after about 10 seconds it crashes as described above (steps 2 and 3) without me doing anything at all.
I did manage to get it to connect to a WiFi hotspot on my mobile phone (and I checked for firmware updates, but unfortunately there were none available), so it seems there's something about my network that the printer doesn't like. I have no idea what that could be, however. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Hello Shawnondrums,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with the printer shutting down when attempting to connect to the wireless network.
A very important step that gets easily over looked is, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
Once the printer is back on, please use the on/off button to do a proper shut down and restart.  This will also do a semi power reset on the printer.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.
    Thanks for your time.

  • Officejet Pro 6830 unable to print

I was able to print wirelessly to my Officejet Pro 6830 and all of a sudden I can't do so today. I have performed diagnostics and everything shows up OK. However when I checked the printer job status, nothing shows up.
How do I go about solving this issue?

    Hi @VexedHPUser
    Perhaps the Microsoft Fix it utility will help;
    What it fixes
You are unable to install a printer, connect to a printer, or print more than one job at a time
You receive an error indicating your Print Spooler service is experiencing problems
You receive an error indicating your is not the default printer
You receive an error indicating: cannot be contacted over the network
Identify if your printer is turned off
Identify if your printer toner is low or empty causing your print job to appear faint or it does not print at all
Identify if your printer paper is low or empty
Identify if the printer has a paper jam which is preventing it from operating normally
Identify if a print job that is in the print queue is preventing other print jobs from printing
Identify if you need to update your print driver
You receive an error stating that your Plug and Play printer %PRINTERNAME% has encountered a driver problem
If the issue persists, I think it might be a good idea to reach out to the Microsoft Community.

  • Unable to install updates for Acrobat Pro 9.0 and MS Office 2008

This is a followup post to a nagging problem last fall that prevented successful installation of product version updates for Acrobat Pro 9.0 and Microsoft Office 2008 running under OS X v10.6.5. Days of fruitless, circular pursuit of solutions from both Adobe and Microsoft tech support provided no recognition of the problem…let alone an answer.
Fortunately, a few helpful techs at a nearby Apple Store yielded results. They were initially as perplexed as their counterparts but it gratified to this customer when each recognized the problem was real and was sufficiently motivated to track down a solution.
By process of elimination it was suggested: i) reinstall the original Snow Leopard 10.6.0 upgrade disk; ii) download the v10.6.5 combo update to bring the OS current; and iii) download and install the Acrobat and Office updates. It worked—perfectly—the first time.
The consensus seems to be that a combination of many successive installations of OS and product version updates eventually produced conflicting instructions resulting in stalemate.
Remarkably, it hasn't been necessary (or appealing) to perform a clean install since some point prior to the introduction of OS X. Nor has it since. A 'rollback' to the original Snow Leopard version with one subsequent update to the current OS version appears to have cleared out a nest of remnant conflicting instructions. Kudos to Apple's tech support and Occam's Razor.

    Hello,
You can download the Acrobat 9 updates manually by following link:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows
However, PDF Maker plugin would not be enable in Outlook, as Acrobat 9 is not support with Office 2013.
Please refer to following compatibility chart:
Compatible web browsers and PDFMaker applications
You need to have Acrobat 11 to get PDF maker plugin in Office 2013.
