Windows 2000 for Zen Neeon 2/ Zen V Pl

Hi, I am interested in purchasing either of the above 2 models. However, I've read on the Specifications page that both players require Window XP for use, and the problem is that my current laptop is only equipped with Windows 2000. But is Windows 2000 still able to be use with the above 2 models?
I have also been told that Win XP is only required if I wanna transfer videos. But if I am only transferring the songs, the Win 2000 is sufficient enough then. Can the tech personnel or anyone advice or confirm on that?
Thanks alot in advance.

I HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM!!!! mine is also only less than a week old. before i bought it i saw it stated on the website?that you could transfer data by just dragging and dropping. So?i dragged and dropped the files into the Neeon2 for the first time 2 days ago and safely removed the hardware. but?it couldn't be switched on anymore. at first it responded to the charger [not a creative charger] so i thought it was just low on battery.after charging, i could switch it on and use it normally. but today [the battery was still?full]?i tried transferring videos in, and once i disconnected the player it died on me again. this time it doesn't respond to the charger!?so i read the manual and?apparently you have to install the Creative Media Explorer program and click on some icon first to transfer your data and convert your videos.?so is it because i didn't convert the videos this time?now i really have no idea what to do with it. because it doesn't respond to my charger anymore and there's no way i can switch it on. i tried uninstalling the Creative Media Explorer and deleting all files from the computer. wanted to reinstall the program again, but when i inserted the CD [provided in the pacakge] to install the program again, the computer couldn't detect the CD. what on earth is wrong with Creative products?! i bought this because my friend recommended Creative to me but i certainly didn't anticipate such problems to happen to a BRAND NEW MP4. i need the voice recorder for school purposes urgently and i can't believe it has given me so many problems in just 2 days. what should i do?

How to set ORACLE_HOMES on Windows 2000 for 11i
    As am newbie on windows.
    Its very urgent.

    To set ORACLE_HOME on Windows:
    C:\> set ORACLE_HOME=<location>
    i.e.
    C:\> set ORACLE_HOME=d:\oracle\proddb\10.2.0
    To verify:
    echo %ORACLE_HOME%
In Apps 11i, you do not have to set it manually, just source the environment file and this will set all environment variables for you.
    - To source the application env file, run envshell.cmd under %APPL_TOP%
    - To source the database env file, run <SID>_<hostname>.cmd under %RDBMS_ORACLE_HOME%

  • Can't get email link to work with windows 2000 for craigslist, have made & verified changes suggested.

I have done the Tools, application, email gmail setup for trying to get my email link to work. It still does not work. Have tried restarting & have verified gmail is selected for email. Used to work, quit working immediately after version 5 loaded.
    Have windows 2000.

You need to remove your Mac's windowserver preference files.
Do this by deleting the following items:
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist
    /Users/[username]/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.windowserver.[number].plist
After you've done that, reset your PRAM — turn off your computer, press the Power key and then press and hold the Option + Command + P + R keys at the same time until you hear a second startup chime.
After you've done that everything should be back to normal

  • Zen Micro with Windows 2000 Not Recogni

Help!! My computer operating Windows 2000 no longer recognizes my Zen Micro. It used to but no longer. I have searched through all the help loading everything under the sun with no success. My Micro is operating with Version ..0 that I understand should and has worked in the past with W2000.
Please help. This is ridiculous - no Zen here.

I finally figured that out. With ME or 2000, I needed to:
) download the version firmware to my memory stick
    2) take the player and V firmware to an XP machine
    3) have the older firmware flashed into the player
    4) reinstall the player on the ME machine
I did all that, had Best Buy do the reflash, and it's working now.
    A few more questions:
If I later update the computer to an XP, any problem with reinstalling Version 2 firmware (other than loosing stored data in the player)?
Exactly how many features are not supported by version firmware? I'm aware that it won't support subscription services, e.g., Napster To Go, and audible format. Are there any other missing I should be aware of?
    TIA

  • FAQ: Fix for Problem Printing PostScript "to file" Under Windows 2000

    PROBLEM
A number of Acrobat users under Windows 2000 have reported a problem in which printing via the PostScript driver fails when printing "to file" instead of to a standard printer port (such an LPT, USB, TCP/IP port, or even Acrobat's internal port). Printing "to file" refers to the ability to check an option in programs such as FrameMaker or Microsoft Word that causes the PostScript that would have gone to a "real" printer port, to go to a specified file name, prompted for by the driver or application itself. The symptom of the failure may be either (1) no file produced and/or (2) a nondescript error message about "unable to print."
Although we have not yet heard of this problem occurring under Windows XP, we have no reason to believe it couldn't given the extreme similarity in architecture and software components. If you are seeing this with Windows XP, please advise me of this via email and simply substitute "Windows XP" for "Windows 2000" for your purposes in this posting.
    CAUSE
The problem is caused by a missing printing port named "FILE:" used by the driver whenever it, guess what, prints "to file." This port is automatically created when Windows 2000 is installed and normally would never disappear. What seems to be happening, based upon reports that I have received from several end users, is that under some conditions yet unidentified, uninstalling one version of Acrobat in preparation for installation of another (newer) version of Acrobat causes the "FILE:" port to be deleted from the system. This printing port deletion does not appear to be caused by any end-user error.
Adobe's Acrobat Quality Assurance group has been alerted to the problem, but to date has been unable to internally reproduce the problem. We would appreciate any information from any user who encounters this problem in terms of exactly how the Acrobat Distiller printer instance was being used prior to an uninstall of Acrobat (for example, were you printing a FrameMaker book "to file" with the
Acrobat Distiller printer instance for purposes of subsequently distilling the whole book manually?)
    FIX
Fortunately, it is very easy to add the "FILE:" port back into the operating system:
    (1) Logon to Windows 2000 as a user with Administrator privileges.
    (2) Go to Start=>Settings=>Printers.
    (3) Select File=>Server Properties.
    (4) Click the "Ports" tab.
    (5) Click "Add Port".
    (6) Select "Local Port" and click "New Port".
    (7) In response to "Enter a port name:" respond "FILE:" (without the surrounding quote marks, of course) and click OK.
    (8) The "FILE:" port should now be in the list of available ports. You may close the remaining dialogs.
At this point, printing "to file" should work correctly. Most likely, you will not see the problem reoccur unless you do another round of uninstalls of Acrobat.

@mha007. I was able to update to version 10.0.1 via Help > About Firefox. Like John99 says it was updated a couple of days ago. However, the problem of WebGL and GPU still remains. I have asked my system supplier to check the same.
@zerofire. I have always built my computer and 'am a great fan of AMD. I hate Intel's blue Death Signs. We here in India do not like anything automated on our PC other than antivirus and antimalware along with pre-scheduled running of CCleaner and Defraggler. Once in a while I run CCleaner's Registry Cleaner. Even Windows Security Alerts are turned off. Windows XP and SP2 for PC and Windows 2000 for server are the most used. Not interested in SP3 or Vista as the transcription work I do requires me to just have XP or SP2. May later add on Windows 7 via dual booting.

  • ACS and Windows 2000 user database communication port

Could my Windows 2000 SP4 + ACS v3.23 can install any new Windows 2000 service pack ?
I'm affraid to infect ACS Service.
So, I want to install firewall on this server to block malicious traffic.
However, my ACS used external user database Windows 2000 for authentication.
Who can tell me What protocols or port list they are communication?
I have to avoid these traffic on my firewall.

    Hi cheng
I think you can install any servie pack without problem and the SP4 is the latest one for WIN2000 and you server already has this SP
For your second question you need to specify many protocols according to your active directory config in this link you can find a list of this protocols and the best way is to make debug or logging or use a siniffer to know the exactly protocols flow between your ACS and AD server

Just an FYI, the AC97 Audio on your MSI mainboard will not work under Windows 2000, for which the AC97 hardware is not certified. • Install Problems under Windows 2000

I have recently upgraded my machine from WinNT4 SP6 to Windows 2000 Professional, and now I cannot install JDeveloper. I have tried 3.1, 3.2 and 3.2.2 and all of them hang at different stages during the installation. There is no error message, the install application just stops responding.

I haven't had problems with any other products installing. I have tried installing JDeveloper 3.2.2 with the bare minimum of components as well as trying the typical installation and nothing seems to work, Im not running anything in the background. The system is a HP Kayak XM600 with an intel PIII 800Mhz 256Mb RAM and an ELSA Synergy graphics card. Someone else I know tried to install it on a Dell machine with a different setup, but under Win2000 Professional, and the install failed on them as well.

  • Itunes.exe has generated errors - Windows 2000 SP4

    Hi there,
    Please can someone help me??
I have been using i-Tunes 7 for some time now on my Windows 2000 machines, however, since re-installing Windows 2000, and downloading i-tunes 7 and clean installing, i-Tunes suddenly stops working in the midst of installing other essential software and updates (which were all running before re-installing Windows 2000 alongside i-tunes 7 with no problems).
When I try to load i-tunes, I get "itunes.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows, you will need to restart the program".
I have tried uninstalling i-tunes, Quicktime won't uninstall and says "Fatal Installation Error" when trying to do so. But even when re-installing or downgrading to an earlier i-tunes (i-tunes 4) - it still gives the same error message!
I am at my wit's end - I have re-installed Windows 2000 for the third time today and it will work at first, but then suddenly gives this error every time I load i-tunes.
    Please help!!
    Happy New Year

  • Zen 3.2 snap shot to force out windows 2000 service packs and critical patches

Zen 3.2 snap shot to force out windows 2000 service packs and critical
    patches
has anyone used MSI to do the installations of services packs.

All Hotfixes and SPs have switches on the EXEs to allow for silent
    installs.
This is the recommended method of deploying these.

  • Zen/Windows 2000/My Opti

Well, after much research on forums (Media Monkey, AnythingbutIpod), I bought a new 32GB Zen. I was assured by numerous sources on many threads that the Zen would work on Windows 2000. After too many hours of research and forum searching I finally have it working as far as synching songs. Yay!
Now I found out playlists in Media Monkey and WMP 9 won't work as Zen uses .zpl for its playlists instead of m3u. Anyone know of a music manager that works with Windows 2000 that uses .zpl? Or of a way to convert the m3u to .zpl
And, since I can't see the Zen as a writable letter in windows explorer and WMP 9 doesn't work with pictures, I can't transfer pictures. Yikes!
Does anyone have experience with this and have any suggestions? I really like the Zen and don't want to have to keep fussing with it. I only want to use it for music and pictures.
    Thank you in advance.
PS... In looking at the Creative website, I don't think I can use any of the software, such as Playlist Wizard, Media Source, etc.

No the service pack is the computer (ie.XPSP2) some programs only run on certain OS's with a particular service pack installed. That info would be in the System. I think to find it on win2000 START>CONTROL PANEL>SYSTEM. You could just use your friends computer to do what you need from time to time. I'm not sure how the Zen Media Explorer works for that one. I will assume it functions the same as the one I use for the players I have. It is an Explorer that is just for the Zen that allows me to make & edit the playlists within the player itself using the music already loaded on the player. Since you have added music files to the player this would work. It is actually a better way for playlists since it uses what's already on it without having duplicate files which is what WMP does (adds the file in the playlists to the device causing you to have copies of the same things) You pick the task to make playlists simple. You can also edit existing one too.(only the ones make with that app not WMP playlists) Since your friend has a Vista comp you will be able to install that app on there(if they don't mind) and use it with no problems. Personally I LOVE IT. Too bad the other apps don't do this it is the best of all the Creative Ap
    ps.

  • ZEN Sleek Photo & Windows 2000 p

I have recently purchased a ZEN Sleek Photo (firmware version .0.0e). I bought this from Argos, where it states quite clearly in the catalogue "Minimum PC specification Microsoft Windows 98SE/Me/2000/XP..." After finding the software refused to install on Windows 2000, I contacted Creative. Customer services refused to help, and I found their general attiture offensi've. On contacting Argos, their reply was "As it states on the website I can confirm that this item will only be compatible with operating system Windows XP and later systems." Well thank you Argos. Verry helpfull after already stating it works with Windows 2000!
I have found a latency driver
    http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp?DriverLang=033&searchString=+P4S_PCDR V_US__0_00.exe&Image.x=26&Image.y=3
This and WMP9 work with the player under Windows 2000, except that the track numbers are all -. I have found reports of this being a fault of WMP9. I then tried winamp, as it apparently works with the Sleek Photo.
    http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?s=9d604eed60033b9e5de774d3d597078d& threadid=238885&perpage=40&highlight=&pagenumber=3
It will not show the player at all (even after reinstalling drivers and winamp).
Can anyone help? I've no idea what to do next, and the player is currently a very expensi've paperweight.

I don't think this is going to help but here's what I've experienced with winamp:
I'm running xp/sp2. I was using winamp 5.2 and it would work with my zen touch and also with my iri'ver h0 (even though it would take a real long time detecting my iri'ver). Then I switched to winamp 5.24 and it wouldn't detect my iri'ver anymore, in fact, for some weird reason, winamp figured it was a cd dri've... Can't say if 5.24 worked with my zen touch since I didn't try it but it definitely didn't with my iri'ver. When I switched back to version 5.2 both players worked alright. Maybe somebody else knows if your problem could be a bug in the new version? There definitely is one with my iri'ver.
