  • EM 10g Agent on Windows 2000 didn't start

    Hi,
    I need help from you
I have been installed EM Agent on windows 2000 but it doesn't start!!!
    I have received error:
The OracleOraEM10g_home1Agent service could not be started.
A service specific error occurred: 2.
In Agent Release Notes was said:
To fix this, ensure that the %WINDIR% and %WINDIR%\system32 paths are included in the SYSTEM path variable. This change may require administrator privileges on the machine. The environment variables can be changed using the System Control Panel.
I have done it but agent still not want to start,
where is the problem anybody can me explain?
    Thank you!

I am having the same kind of problem on my WinXP box. In my case it is intermittent - sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't start.
My box is a laptop and I can not run the EM at all when the box is disconnected from the network. So any thoughts I had about doing local development on the plane going home at weekends are shot.
The Event Viewer in Xp says, "Agent Process terminated abnormally during initialization" The event ID is 4.
I have not yet found a pattern that matches its successful and its failed startups. I do run Zonealarm on the box, and there is some (slight) evidence that Zonealarm and Oracle do not play nice. I have shut Zonealarm down on the box and tried to manually start the service OracleDBConsoleorcl, but to no avail.
    Any thoughts anyone?
    Thanks
    Chris

  • Windows 2000 won't start after iTunes 7.3 upgrade

Yesterday I upgraded to iTunes 7.3 and after the required reboot, windows 2000 hangs on its startup screen. I can boot from the windows 2000 CD and login to the win2k installation on the hard disk using the admin password, but I don't know how to uninstall iTunes from the recovery console. Any ideas?

Was not able to uninstall easyCD creator, but did get windows to start again by following the directions below from the website listed below. Lots of work still ahead to get it back to normal, but at least I didn't lose all my data.

Method 1: Use a Backup Registry System Hive to Edit the Registry
Use the Windows 2000 CD-ROM to start the computer.
If you need a third-party hard disk controller, press S to specify an additional device, and then insert the floppy disk that contains the correct driver for the hard disk controller.
Press R to repair a Windows 2000 installation.
Press C to use the recovery console.
Log on to the Windows installation that you want and type the Administrator password.
Change to the %windir%\System32\Config\ directory. To do this, type the following command at the C:\Winnt prompt (where C: is the drive and Winnt is the directory where Windows 2000 is installed), and then press ENTER:
    chdir system32\config
Type ren system system.old, and then press ENTER.
Type copy C:\winnt\repair\system, and then press ENTER. The following information appears:

Type exit, and then press ENTER to quit the recovery console and restart Windows.

  • Cannot install Netweaver CE on Windows 2000 OS - SAP note says I can!!!!!!

    Hi ,
I cannot install Netweaver CE on Windows 2000 OS, but SAP note says I can... Can anyone reply back if there is any workaround?
    Thanks
    Som

    Hi Som,
Netweaver CE is supported by following Windows series:
Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 2) or Windows 2003 Server (Service Pack 1)
The version has also been tested successfully with Windows 2000 (SP3) and Windows XP (SP1), but is certified only for the two Windows versions above (Note: If you use a Windows XP account without a password , SAP Management Console can not start/stop your instance via Web Service - use system services instead)
For more on Netweaver CE installation check this:

    Oracleora3DataGatherer
    Oracleora3TNSListener

if I execute command "startup open" in Server Manager (svrmgrl), then DataBase started

  • Installing 10g R2 on Windows 2000, installer not starting

    Hi all,
I am installing Oracle 10g R2 on Windows 2000 Compact ProLiant ML570 with 4 CPUs (x86 Family 6 Intel 701 Mhz), 1 Gb of memory, eight disks and one disk controller.). It has 9i already installed. I downloaded the 10g software and extracted the file into a local folder, however when i click setup.exe, the cmd window fires up saying it is starting up the installer. The command prompt then disappears and no installer is started! I have also try clicking the autorun file and the oui.exe which is within the install directory with no avail. Is this a bug? but then 9i is already installed and the 9i gui fires up fine?
Any help will be greatly appreaciated,
    Thanks in advance,

I have created the trust database and installed a CA root certificate and a web server certificate. When I enable SSL, the server startup takes a long time (although the log file indicates a successful startup much earliar) and then after acknowledging the information box for successful startup, on return to the server on/off page, the page shows server off.

Can you provide the error logs file of the instance which fails to start?

  • Windows 2000

I've just switched computers at work. My new computer is several times as fast as the old one, with sixteen times as much memory - but unfortunately it's running Windows 2000 rather than NT. I can only presume that this is the reason why in spite of all the extra power the rather fine programmer-oriented text editor Jext (www.jext.org) now runs way slower than before. Also, the text in the program is now so mangled as to be barely readable - it looks as if it's been anti-aliased and then all the pixels which weren't pure black have been dropped, or something. It's appalling.
Is this all part of Microsoft's ongoing anti-Java campaign, or is there another explanation? Is anyone else having similar problems? Does anyone have any idea how to fix the crazy text thing? Does it occur with other programs or is it jus Jext?

It turns out the screwed up writing was partly a result of my display being in 16-bit colour mode; going up to 32-bit and restarting Jext fixed the problem. It feels like it's going slightly faster as well, for some reason.

  • Problems to install Oracle8i (1.6) enterprise edition on Windows 2000. PLEASE HELP

    Hi all,
I am failed to install oracle 8i 1.6 on windows 2000 server. I am getting following error.
ORA-XXXX CREDIENTIAL RETRIVAL FAIL. I am getting this error while creation of database. It is giving option abort or Ignore. When I pressed Ignore after not nothing working out, it simple keep running. When ever I try to connect SVRMGRL I am getting TNS adaptor error. Please help me any one.
    Thanks,
    Swetha.

Its a problem with oracle and pentium 4 processors actually. The solution involves renaming or deleting the symcjit.dll in the 8i installation package after you've copied the whole Cd onto your HDD!
I've tried this and it install OK, with a few errors along the way, now I can't get the apache server working, nor on the 9i AS that I've installed as well. Let me know if you get anything useful please?
    Michael.

  • Help! Im getting really confused!  Linux Oracle 9 to Windows 2000 MS SQL.

Please can someone explain the process and what needs doing.
I am trying to connect an oracle 9i database which is running on Linux Red Hat Enterprise 4, to a MS SQL database which is running on Windows Server 2000.
I have read the following document https://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/f?p=130:14:1119006956529253705::::p14_database_id,p14_docid,p14_show_header,p14_show_help,p14_black_frame,p14_font:NOT,231458.1,1,1,1,helvetica
But I am confused as to where each configuration file sits.
I have downloaded oracle 9i for windows and installed the OTG and tg4msql on the windows 2000 server. On the windows 2000 server I have created the following files:
    tnsnames.ora:
    TG4MSQL.domain.name =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = tCP)
    (HOST = <IP_ADDRESS>)
    (PORT=1521) )
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = tg4msql))
    (HS=OK)
    Listener.ora
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
    (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME = PLSExtProc)
    (ORACLE_HOME = D:\oracle9i)
    (PROGRAM = extproc))
    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME = tg4msql)
    (ORACLE_HOME = D:\oracle9i)
    (PROGRAM = tg4msql)
    (ENVS=LD_LIBRARY_PATH=D:\oracle9i)
    LISTENER =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = IPADDRESS)(PORT = 1521))
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC0))
    inittg4msql.ora
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO="SERVER=<IP_ADDRESS>;database=<MS SQL DATABASE NAME"
    HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL=0
    HS_FDS_RECOVERY_ACCOUNT=RECOVER
    HS_FDS_RECOVERY_PWD=RECOVER
    HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL=OFF
Then on the Linux server I have the following tnsnames.ora:
    TG4MSQL.DOMAIN.NAME =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = <MS SQL IP ADDRESS>)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = tg4msql))
I then created a database link on the Linux Oracle server:
    CODE
create database link tg4msql connect to "sa"
    identified by "password" using 'tg4msql';
    I then tried a:
    CODE
    select * from all_catalog@tg4msql;
    and get:
Ora-28545: error diagnosed by Net8 when connecting to an agent
Unable to retrieve text of NEWTORK/NCR message 12571
    ORA-02063: preceeding 2 lines for TG4MSQL
I feel I have done everything I have read but its not very clear where everything has to be put or how it all ties together.
    Any help would be useful!
    Thanks.

well I don't see how your ODBC driver on linux is configured. You need one (ODBC driver on linux, it's not there by "default") You can buy one or use a free one
    find it here
    http://www.unixodbc.org/
then once you set up ODBC and able to connec to your SQL SERVER from command line using iSQL or TSQL from linux then do all these steps you described and it should work.
I didn't have any problems setting it up, works like a charm

  • ORA-12640 and Windows 2000 vs NT

    Hi,
I installed an oracle DB on windows NT with Microsoft ODBC driver and my application was fine. I got the idea to get Windows 2000. Now each time my application try to access (writing) the DB I get the ORA-12640 error.
In the documentation I read I should enable tracing: i put in the init.ora the sql and oracle trace to true. And get my application running again: I still got the error message but i can't find any trace file. Anyone an idea at what I could look for to find the error? or what the error may be?

Find SQLnet.ora file in your $OracleHome$\netwrok\admin folder where oracle is installed and comment out "SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES=(NTS) " line by adding # before it. or change this line to
SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES=(NONE). this may do the trick.

  • Citrix Client M/c Not Responding - Windows 2000 Server

    Hi all,
I have Windows 2000 Server with Terminal Services and Citrix Metaframe 1.8 for Windows 2000 running on it. We are using Oracle Apps 11i and Oracle 8i on Sun Solaris 8.
The Citrix Clients are Win 95/98 m/c running ICA32. The ERP Application is run by the clients through Citrix Server using IE5.0
Some of the forms are not responding always when client is using citrix technology but the same client(s) can run the application when he is using his own IE5.0
Can somebody help us out. Is it supported by Oracle Apps 11i or not. Or some fine tuning is to done or some patches are required to be downloaded.
    Thanks in advance.

Is this a true Apps 11i environment? Why do you need to go through Citrix instead of direct browser access?
