Windows 2000 support/OfficeJet 7310 carriage jam

I have an OfficeJet 7310 that has run into a jammed carriage error. I think the sled below the carriage that caps the cartridges may not be retreating enough and causing the carriage to jam on the right. I've read some information, but has anyone run into this on this printer and have some clues about possibly fixing it?
I have one Win2K computer still in use that needs to print and scan. I know there is no official Win2K support for most newer printers, but are there any workarounds for some models that are either still available or still in stores? Maybe using a driver for a related model?
Otherewise, I may risk some money and buy a used one from eBay.

This 'Clear carriage jam and press OK to continue' Message Appears on the All-in-One document may offer some help, if you haven't tried all the solutions listed already.

  • MS Windows 2000 Support for IDM Password Sync Connector

    Hi all,
We have a Domain Controller running on MS Win 2000 and there is no way we can upgrade it right now.
I checked the PWD Sync Connector Doc and it says that it supports only MS Win 2003 and MS Win 2008.
We have to install the Listener on this DC. Is there any alternative or do you think it will work even though it is not supported?
    Thanks,
    M

You do know that MS will hit you with a 10 000 USD per domain controller maintenance fee if you stay on AD 2000 after July 2010?
I have seen the IDM password synch work on AD 2000 but that was in older versions of the connector as well as OIM. Should work but may have issues.
    Best regards

  • Whether Oracle 8.1.6 Supports Windows 2003 Server/Windows 2000 Adv. Server

    Dear All,
Whether Oracle 8.1.6 Supports Windows 2003 Server/Windows 2000 Adv. Server.
I tried it in windows 2003 server but i couldn't. Atlease tell me wheather it support windows 2000 adv. server. This is my first dba job.
Under Doc ID: 66397.1 saying Oracle 8.1.6 Not Support Windows NT Server 4.0 Terminal Server Edition.
Under Doc ID: 77627.1 saying Oracle 8.1.6 Supports Windows 2000 Support.
    Please help me out urgently.

Since you have access to Metalink, you could be looking at the Certify tab to find this information. But, the answer is that 8.1.6 is no longer supported by Oracle. However, you should be able to install it on Win 2000 advanced server. You just can't get any support for it.
The earliest version of db supported on Win 2003 was either 9.0 or 9.2, but 9.0 is desupported now as well.

When will Windows 2000 support be available for connector support in the MetaDirectory product?

Meta Directory 5.0sp1 (in it's windows version) has an AD connector (you can still have a full meta directory on solaris, just use the windows kit to install the AD connector on a windows machine)
although it is a derivate of an UTC connector, with all its "bugs/features", ie : modrdn's do not work, and its somewhat stuborn for the flow of certain attributes,it does work for me on a 2000 Server in an AD domain

  • QuickTime 7.2 and Windows 2000

Sorry if this has been covered before, but I have managed to install QT 7.2 on Windows 2000. I had to extract the installation files from the installer package, and edit the QuickTime installer file to remove the OS version check.
It installed and ran fine, and the only problem I found with it was that some of the full screen modes didn't seem to work as I expected them to, and in full screen the on-screen controls would not disappear from the screen as they should do, I could only have them permanently on or permanently off.
Otherwise it seemed to work fine, proving that the withdrawal of Windows 2000 support was a decision based on business reasons, not on technical reasons!

Using a utility called "Universal Extractor".

  • PEAP on Windows 2000 SP4

I have setup PEAP with ACS Server and it works fine on Windows XP. How can I connect Windows 2000-SP4 PC to the access point with PEAP? Wireless service is running and I have enabled 802.1X with PEAP under the Authentication tab of the network card.
What options should I select under ACU?
    Thanks

    Hi Avil,
    Have a look at this doc to see if it helps;
    ACU Installation Precautions
Observe these precautions when you are installing the ACU:
PEAP client devices use the EAP 802.1X support provided in the Windows XP and Windows 2000 operating systems to enable authentication.
Note You must use the operating system to configure the authentication parameters of the PEAP supplicant.
Windows XP supports EAP 802.1X as a standard authentication type. Windows 2000 supports EAP 802.1X authentication with Service Pack 4, but does not provide a Zero Configuration for client adapters. Hence, the ACU (or equivalent) software must be used to configure the client adapter 802.11 operating parameters.
When installing the ACU software, select PEAP support during the initial installation. The PEAP supplicant cannot be added or enabled incrementally after installation; the ACU software must be reinstalled with the PEAP support option selected.

  • Officejet 7130 printer Carriage Jam

My Officejet 7130 All In One has experienced a jammed carriage. Yesterday when preparing to make some copies, I turned the unit on, as it went into the initializion process the carriage began to move and a grinding noise was heard. This was followed by a message on the display stating "Carriage Jam, open carriage door, clear jam, close door and press return." This was done. Now when trying to start the printer the carriage starts to move but when it gets almost to the right it is stopped again with the grinding sound.. The display now says "open door Latch the Carriage, close door and press return."  It appears that the carriage is blocked at about the location where the output tray guides are located and a white part just to its right.
How does one "Latch" the carriage?

    Hello,
If you see a belt out of its place, then its not a good sign. Hope it is not broken.
Is the belt translucent with lines on it ( similar to bar code lines ) ? if yes , then that could be a Encoder strip.
In either cases, the printer has to be serviced.
    I'd recommend 2 solutions ...
a> Take it to a near by HP Authorized center
    OR
b> If you are in USA, Call HP Tech Support to check if there is a Trade in option.
Please call HP Tech Support for further assistance.
If you are in US , the toll free # is 1-800-474-6836 .
If you are not in US , then log on to www.hp.com , at bottom-left corner there is a world map icon, click on it and then select the region you belong to, which would then provide support options for you for that region.

  • Windows 2000 no longer supported ?

    Hi,
I would like to report an incompatibility issue.
In order to use some older tools, I wanted to make a VmWare image of Windows 2000. It needed a Java runtime. The java.com website suggested version 6.24, and listed Windows 2000 as one of the targets. This version does not install, however. It complains about a missing DLL, and even when you supply that DLL, it stops completely a little later.
I next downloaded an older version, version 6, and it worked first time.
I think this should either be fixed, or it should be displayed that Windows 2000 is no longer supported, with the website then suggesting a working version.
    Regards, Matt

Okay. But the people you want to reach don't look here. You need to create a bug report in bugs.sun.com and then maybe after a few months someone will take a look at it and think "Windows 2000? Even Microsoft doesn't support that anymore. Won't fix".
The real answer you have already found. If you must use an outdated unsupported OS, you will need to use an outdated version of Java to match it.

  • Software and Driver Installation for HP Officejet 7310 Crash on my new laptop running Windows 8.1

I am trying to load the software and drivers for my hp Officejet 7310 on my brand new Lenovo laptop which runs windows 8.1.  I had successfully loaded the software last week.  Unfortunately I lost the disk drive on my 2 week old computer. The store gave me another brand new Lenovo laptop.  On the new laptop I get errors when I try to load what I think is the same software that I loaded on the other computer a week ago.  I downloaded the software from the hp website.
The driver software download fine.   Originally it then unzipped and a nice interface came up.  I think I clicked the load button.  A message box came up saying that it could not find a certain file in appData\local\temp\7xxx...  I tried the download and install several more times.  I think I then did windows updates and registered my version of office.  I was thinking that with the other computer I must have had the computer in a different state such that the drivers and software installed without a hitch.
Things seem to have gotten worse.  I do not get as far.  It still downloads fine but now after unzipping rather than the nice interface with the "load" button I get the a message box.
The latest error is in a message box with the heading "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library".  The error says that Program:c:\users\...\appData\local\temp\7zS4237\setup.exe  This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
I was able to connect the printer through the "add Printers" and am not actually too worried about having the whole "HP Solution" with the scanning interface.  I am worried that this error will cause me problems in the future with other things.  Thanks in advance for any help.
I saw similar issuesdiscussed on the web and have tried several things.  I really do not want to reload the OS and start again.  We have barely used the system and I have no idea how this problem occurred and so I would not know how to prevent it from happening again.  I did stop and start the print service.  I was tempted to "totally unload the hp print drivers" but the file names in the posted instructions did not exactly match my files.  Another post mentioned making sure that I had the latest version of Adobe Flash Player loaded.  I went to the adobe site and it said that it is part of windows 8.1's internet explorer.  I ran the test and it seemed to work.
Could the HP installation failure have corrupted my version of Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Karen_M2,
    Thank you for your response!
The HP software does require the C ++ run-time libraries in order to install correctly. Please see this guide, Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error May Display When Installing Certain Printers.
Here are the differences between the four types of uninstall:
    1
Removes the Windows device discovery (Plug and Play) entries from the Windows registry. After running level 1, connect the USB cable to the all-in-one and let Windows try to discover the device again.
    2
Performs Level 1 and removes the software drivers. After running level 2, run the all-in-one installer and use the "Add a new device" option to attempt to reinstall the all-in-one again.
    3
Performs Levels 1 and 2 and removes the HP Photo and Imaging software. You must completely reinstall the all-in-one software after running level 3.
    4
Performs Levels 1, 2 and 3, and removes HP Software Update. You must completely reinstall the all-in-one software after running level 4.
If you have an HP computer I would not recommend the L4 uninstall as it would also uninstall any other HP software you have installed besides your printer.
Definitely continue going through the post I had provided, Re: Error message Microsoft visual c++ runtime library.
If that still does not resolve your issue, or you cannot uninstall using one of the four methods above, then try the following:
    Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Clean boot the computer. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Disable any antivirus programs. How to Disable Antivirus in Windows 8?
Disable any firewall programs. Windows Firewall from start to finish.
Create a new user account. Managing User Accounts and Logins (Windows 8).
Reinstall using the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.
Hope this information helps, and have a good day!
