Windows 2003 server and a mac
Hi
We have a powerbook G4 running 10.4.6
And we want to use it on a windows 2003 server network.
How is this done?
i.e server end and mac end.
Mac OS X (10.4.6) 1 GB of ram
Hopefully you can help me too. My company just purchased a MAC BookPro and we all pc based with a PC Windows server. I have been trying to get this MAC to connect to the server. We need it to be able to access files and folder on the PC server to save and retrieve pc files.
I finally I it to where to do the GO > Connect to Server > Type in info > it brings up authentication information, we type in the domain and user name and password > but then I get an error saying the user name and password are not found.
Apple support told me it's now on the pc server side. I know the user name and password are correct. We have installed the Mac components on the server. I don't know if there are some other conflicts with the server or what to do.
Please let me know if you know of anything else I can try.

Windows 2003 Server and BISE1: a painful way
Hi Forum !!
I consider my self as an advantage one in BISE1 matters. I've installed BISE1 many times on systems running Windows XP SP2 for proof concepts and as a lab environment for production systems setups. Following procedures "by the book" all BISE1 environments were work fine, and all issues are covered by the documentation.
But problems appear when we find Windows 2003 Server based systems. Even following step by step the installation process, we find different kind of problems. Thanks to metalink notes we could fix some, but there are others very strange at all.
For example, In a lab environment, running WinXP we successfully applied Database Patch P5337014 moving database version from release 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.3. Then we applied in the same lab environment Warehouse Builder Patch P6264457, moving OWB Repository version to 10.2.0.3.0 and OWB client to 10.2.0.3.33. Later, over a Production environment running Win 2003 Server, we follow the same procedure getting catastrophic results. When we applied the database Patch P5337014, database contro console service fails over and over again sending to the web browser a connection refused message. After a new installation, when we tried to apply the OWB Patch, the Control Center service doesn't work anymore, and none of the metalink notes we found appears to fix the problem.
It is just me or is anyone else who have faced this kind of problems with Windows 2003 Server ? What kind of workaround exists to solve this problems ?
Thanks, and your comments are welcome.Hopefully you can help me too. My company just purchased a MAC BookPro and we all pc based with a PC Windows server. Trying to access Windows 2003 Server share with Mac OS 9.04
Hi
I cannot connect to a Windows 2003 Server share on my 2003 domain. I can access the share with my MacBook (10.4.9) & my G4. I have File Services for Mac installed & can ping the server from all OS 9 Mac.
Can anyone give me some tips?
MacBook AdministratorHow are you trying to connect to the server? Via AppleTalk or IP? (What utility are you using to ping the server from the Mac OS 9 machine?) Since you're not providing any information about error messages you're receiving or the symptoms of your problem I can only provide the following information.
If you're selecting the server from a list in the Chooser and clicking the OK button then the connection should switch to IP automatically. Make sure your Mac has TCP/IP enabled and is receiving an IP address or that you have an appropriate IP address hard-coded. You can try forcing an IP connection by entering the IP address or DNS name of the server in the Chooser rather than selecting it from the list in the Chooser.
Or you can try forcing an AppleTalk connection by selecting the server in the Chooser and holding down the Option key as you click the Connect button. If you're asked to enter your name and password then you're communicating properly with the server. This is, however, a very slow connection compared to IP.
Finally, be sure you update to the latest version of Mac OS 9, which is 9.2.2 <http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75288>.
Hope this helps! bill

Windows 2003 server and running admin app
Hi.
I am using windows server 2003 R2.
I installed weblogic 8.1 with a patch
when I try to run the admin console, only the right side functions after
login, the left side is malfunctioning. It seems to be related to an activeX
control that the page attempts to install.
I tell it to go ahead and install, however it never does nor does it throw a
visible error.
Can anyone point out what the problem solution is?
In the meantime, it is a web app, so I can run it from another machine.
thanksYes.

thanks for your help
If you want send me a mail, or talk with messenger or
likeI would in that case try to contact Sun. The error message seems a bit odd. The installation is trying to execute some command, tool or applications which can't be found by the OS. The error indicates that that command has a very odd name.

Windows 2003 server and SQL 2008
Hi
Does SAP Business one support windows 2008 and sql 2008 platforms?
When i checked the partner portal it says that these platforms are not supported. Is there any update?
Regards
LouisHello Louis,
The only way to determine this is via the supported platforms page in the portal. This is the most up to date, and will include information for the future when this data is available. So for not I would only plan with what information is available.

Windows 2003 Server Mounts as a Package. Why?
This is a weird one. Y'all tell me how its even possible.
At work, we have a Windows 2003 Server-based server. For the Mac's, we have two shared folders. Now, one of our Macs is a finely aged 800mhz G4 Quicksilver running 10.3.9. It has recently developed a problem. It thinks that one of the two shared folders that it logs into is a Package (as in a folder that has been turned into a single-click application). When you mount that folder, it has the correct icon, but instead of displaying its contents when you double-click it, it displays a dialog box that says "Item "FIRST SHARED FOLDER" is used by Mac OS X and cannot be opened." Looking at its Info pane, you find the shared folder is described as description of "Package" instead of "Volume".
Please note that the other shared folder from the server works correctly, and that the other Mac's on the network, running everything from Mac OS 9 to Tiger have no problems with the server at all.
PM G4 800mhz (Quicksilver), 640mb RAM Mac OS X (10.3.9) Connected via ethernet to a Windows 2003 Server with Appleshare/Mac Services activatedHi,
Thanks for your post.
According to the blog:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/srinathv/archive/2014/09/17/prerequisite-and-support-matrix-microsoft-migration-accelerator-for-azure.aspx
The following Operating Systems could migrate to Azure:
Windows Server 2008 R2 (64 bit), R2 SP1 (64 bit) - Web, Standard, Enterprise, Datacenter editions.
Windows Server 2012 (64 bit), R2 (64 bit) - Standard, Datacenter, Essentials editions.
It seems like there is no Windows server 2003. So i am afraid that it is not supported.
Regards.

Connecting to a Windows 2003-Server with a MacBook
Hi guys!
I'm planning on buying a MacBook anytime soon. The main purpose of this investment is work at school. Therefore I have to ensure that everything works perfectly, otherwise I would have to buy a Windows notebook (in fact not the kind of decision I wanna make).
We have a Windows 2003-Server and every other pupil can easily connect to this server with a Windows XP machine wirelessly. They can use printers, surf the Internet and use all the network harddrives (like F: for everyone; P: for projects were only certain groups have access to certain folders; and Z: your home-directory where only the very user has access).
I need to make sure 2 things:
a) When I connect to the network via Airport, does the system ask me for my account, so I can have (or have not) access to files I am entitled to?
b) Does everything work fine under normal condition?
I am aware that something could happen nobody could have forseen, but as the MacBook is a bigger investment than a € 700 windows crapbook, I would like to make sure that everything should work seemlessly. Thanks Jay, It now auto log's in but it's still not acting like a networked drive - when saving an attachment etc I still can't save direct to the server as it doesn't appear in the listing.. I need to save to desktop or doc's then manually drag it into the server... this is a pain...
Any further ideas. -

Just-In-Time (JIT) Error in Windows 2003 Server Environment
Hi,
I am using the EBS R12.1.1 environment for learning purpose. I am running EBS R12.1.1 on Windows 2003 Server environment on my personal laptop.
I am getting JIT error on FNDLIBR.exe file. This error opens a window and asks me to choose debuggers and by default the MS Visual Studio 2005 debugger is available. This error raises every some time randomly like some time it raises in every 1 min, sometime it raises in every 2 to 5 mins etc. How can I overcome on this error?
Thanks & Regards,
Waqas HassanThanks Mr. Hussein,
I think in learning process i do not need the NLS Patch. So I had a fresh copy of EBS R12.1.1 in VMWare on Windows 2003 Server and now, I am using it without NLS Patch.
Actually I am working on HRMS Setup, in fresh EBS environment there is need to install its legislative data, so I installed it and apply the hrglobal.drv patch according to this document "*Instructions for Running DataInstall/hrglobal.drv on R12 [ID 414434.1]*" but I just skipped only 5th and 6th Step because its about NLS Patch.
I run the 7th step to "*Generate Payroll Dynamic Database Item Translations*" its completed successfully but when I run the 8th Step about "*Bulk Compile Formulas*" its giving error and the error is given below:

Running LabVIEW 7.1 on Windows 2003 Server with Terminal Services
We are setting up a newtork based solution with LabView. I have looked for documentation on installing LV 7.1 on a Windows 2003 server to run the applications and then have destkops connect to it. Can this be done with a Terminal Services Access solution? Another words, if we were to purchase the LV Volume License Manager, can you install LV 7.1 onto a Windows 2003 server and run the application through TS across a 1GB backbone from the desktop, which makes the server do all the processing?

Sorry for the delay. I'm surprised Philip didn't get back to us... Phil
are you there? Based on his comments, I think he misunderstands your
situation (no offense Phil).
You and I are both talking about the same thing. You basically want a
terminal server license. NI will not provide it. They told me (over the
phone) to get a multi-seat license (MSL). IMO, that's unacceptable. I
expect a LV license taylored specifically for thin client networks. A
multi-seat license is for -->installing<-- on multiple machines. It
conforms to a totally different set of rules. One big one, an MSL assumes
that you intend to run LV locally to interact with DAQ hardware. Since
this won't be done with the thin client, you shouldn't have to pay for it.

Since you are talking about a Microsoft operating system, I would say this
cannot be done without some additional/costly junk installed.
Here's another option. If the people you're supporting don't have any
platform dependent things like ActiveX in their LV applications, you
should consider using a Linux-based terminal server. I know for a fact it
works.
I've assisted in setting up a network like this before:
* One Linux terminal server with LabVIEW for Linux (Full Dev)
* One WinXP box on the network with LabVIEW for Win (Prof Dev)
* 5 cheap thin clients
They developed LabVIEW source code on the thin clients and then compiled
packages on the WinXP box for distribution to their customers. The WinXP
was only used for compiles so they just hopped on when necessary. The
eventual plan is for the thin clients to simply open a RemoteDesktop
(using RDP) terminal session and do the compiles from there. I'm not sure
how to do that yet... on the Windows side.

Phil must have thought you needed a LV application to access the front
panel controls of another LV application running on a remote machine. The
VI server is handy in that area but useless in your case.
Hey, you wanna hear about cheap network infrastructure? We bought our
thin client boxes for $15 each! Go to ltsp.org if you want more info on
configuring Linux as a terminal server.
You, and anyone else, can also email me at gnu_voodoo [at] netzero [dot]

Oracle 10g Universe Connectivity From 64bit Windows 2003 Server
Hi,
Have an existing BO XI 3.1 environment built on a 64 bit Windows 2003 server and
I'm having problems getting it to communicate with Oracle 10g universes. Works fine
with its SQL Server 2005 repository and SQL Server 2005 relational/olap universes, but
cant seem to get it to work with Oracle.
Universes work fine on the 32 bit development environment talking to the same Oracle
database, but when move them to 64 bit testing environment they all fail with
Oracle ora-12154 errors.
32 bit Oracle client is installed and can communicate fine with other products using ODBC
connections from the server - but BO refuses to communicate.
Any ideas other than reinstalling BO under 'Program Files' rather than 'Program Files (x86)'
as I've seen some references on the web about this possibly being a problem?
Thanks.Hi,
Oracle 32 bit and 64 bit connectivity work fine from the server. The problem seems to
relate to bug 3807408 in Oracle 10g that cant handle parentheses in directory names.
So BO being installed in u2018C:\Program Files (x86)\Business Objectsu2019 causes it to get
rather annoyed.
SAP Note 1202730 does cover this, but our DBA's aren't too keen on installing the
suggested patch. I'm also not very keen on reinstalling BO in a different directory as
we've got working production sites that would have to be rebuilt.
So now investigating whether using the Oracle 11g client will resolve this.
MSDN forum topic http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/sqlintegrationservices/thread/ab662d63-6385-4f73-b27f-d526048f601f/ gives a pretty good overview of what people have been trying to resolve this. -
Windows 2003 server standard edition on X4100
Trying to get it to instill windows 2003, everything goes fine with updating software, identifying windows 2003 server and selecting the 32-bit version, until the identifying distribution page, where it stalls / does nothing when I click next. So I'm kinda stuck at a dead end, any suggestions anyone ?
Before considering ways to overcome process addressing limits (32-bit process virtual address space), Windows Server Std Ed can use/see maximum 4 GB RAM. You cant fit 5GB Oracle Server memory + other stuff + OS in that. I guess your only options are EE 32-bit or Std Ed x64, if you have the hardware.
But, staying on the 32-bit path, it will be hard to achieve confilicting objects of large memory areas. Remember that process virtual space is 4GB regardless of how much RAM the hardware (and OS) can manage. -
Moving oracle 9i database from windows 2000 to windows 2003 server
hi everybody,
plz provide me a solution how to move oracle 9i database from windows 2000 server to windows 2003 server with step by step and also with commands plz as i am very new to oracle
thanks in advance
sureshInstall 9i on windows 2003 server and patch to the same level as the Oracle on Windows 2k
Shutdown and make a cold backup of your old database. That includes datafiles, controlfiles, redo files, init file (spfile)
Copy and put these files to the exact same directory structure/location, for example if old file is under D:\oradata\mysid\ then the file on new file should be under same directory. (If you are using Network Storage that make things easier, just mapping to the same drive letter.)
Also make sure archive log dest and all dump dest directories are created. You don't have to copy all old logs and dump files over.
Use oradim to create a new service for the database instance
http://www.psoug.org/reference/oradim.html
Set proper ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID envionment varibles
Run netca to configure listener, actually copy listener.ora and tnsnames.ora to $ORACLE_HOME\network\admin will do
Try to start the database
