Windows 2003 Support

Hi..
We currently have an application that uses Jrun3.1 on Windows
2000 server. Our servers are being upgraded to Windows 2003. I
would like to know if there are any known issues or whether Jrun3.1
is supported on Windows 2003. Appreciate any documentation
mentioning otherwise.

When Windows Server 2003 support ends, you should not have a Windows Server 2003 Domain Controller running if you would like to be supported by Microsoft. This means that there will be no reason to have a DFL or FFL that is lower than Windows Server 2008.
So, if you are keeping Windows Server 2003 FFL to keep DCs running Windows Server 2003 then this is not supported.

Does anyone have the latest version of iTunes working in Windows 2003? I get an error on my machine, but also acknowledge that iTunes is available only for 2000 & XP.
If Apple don't provide support, I have no option but to start using Anapod

there is a workaround listed on the Bulletin (for folks who don't want to apply the update), but i haven't seen anyone report back on how that might affect other things running on Server 2003. (expand the "vulnerability details" section to see info on that.)

1.4.2 be able to use all this 3GB? OR does the 1.8GB limitation still hold?

Windows 2003 supports a 3 GB virtual user address space if the /3GB option
is specified in the BOOT.INI file. Please refer to

This option is also available for Windows XP, Windows 2000 Advanced Server
and Windows 2000 Datacenter Server.
The June release of JRockit 1.4.2 can take advantage of this additional
memory address space, i.e. it has the IMAGE_FILE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE set in
the image header.
Please note, however, that the Java heap still has a boundary close to 2 GB.
The JRockit Java heap has to be allocated as one contiguous portion of the
virtual memory space and Windows still loads some dll:s (kernel32.dll,
ntdll.dll etc) at the top of the lowest 2 GB in the virtual memory space. I
know some customers have tried to work around this problem by rebasing the
Windows dll:s with the MS Visual Studio REBASE tool. However, I also think
some thread and process structures and the first thread stack are allocated
in that same neighbourhood. (Not sure about that). However, the additional
memory is still good for code generation and internal JRockit data
structures. For large applications JRockit and third party JNI code (e.g.
database drivers) might need several hundred megabytes outside of the Java
heap. To make room for this you will have to reduce the maximum Java heap
way below 2 GB in 2GB mode. In 3 GB mode will not have to do that.

We are using ECC 5.0 and our PRD system is running on windows 2003 standard edition,and recently we have got some physical memory problem.as windows 2003 standard edition supports only 4 GB of RAM. and we want to extend our RAM for that we are planning to upgrade os to windows 2008 enterprise edition,is that possible.and after upgrading OS what are the activities that need to be performed for SAP to run succesfully,kindly suggest.

Upgrade of Your Operating System
If you upgrade an existing SAP system to Windows Server 2003 perform the
following actions:
o Install the latest R3DLLINS
You find the latest dynamic link libraries R3DLLINS for Windows
Server 2003 on the EXT-Kernel CD in the NTPATCH directory.
o Replace the R/3 kernel with the EXT-Kernel.
If you do not replace it you will get error "SICK" after the first
logon attempt after the start.
In this case, download the disp+work package(s) from the SAP
Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/patches and unpack the
patch(es) to directory usr\sap\exe:
dw*_<patch-level>
Use at least patch level 186.
o Use the latest saposcol version.
This version supports the changed performance counter of Windows
Server 2003 to determine values for ST06 and RZ20.
You can find the latest version in file saposcol_<Patch Level>.CAR.

You can perform the upgrade to Windows Server 2003 only if the

recent installation guides which you can download from the SAP

o SAP domain under Windows Server 2003
Follow the instructions of the Windows documentation for the
migration of a Windows NT 4 domain to Windows 2003. For the SAP
environment some additional points need to be observed.
For Windows NT 4 there are two models for the SAP system domain:
- Single domain
All users and the SAP system build one single domain. This
domain can be migrated to Windows Server 2003 and exist there
as single domain.
- Additional domain
There is one domain for the users and a second domain for the
SAP system(s). For a migration to Windows Server 2003 the SAP
system domain has to be created as child domain under the user
domain. A "Top-down" procedure is to be used. The higher domain
(the user domain) must be migrated prior to the SAP child
domain. If the user and SAP domain is part of a larger domain
structure the complete domain structure for Windows Server 2003
needs to be planned in a preparing phase. Usually, the
structure created under Windows NT 4 has to be re-arranged and
consolidated.
The name space of the root domain and all sub-ordinated domains
has to be defined and the distribution of the DNS services
needs to be determined.
Note the following:
The SAP domain has to be created as child domain.
The SAP domain must not be converted into an organizational
unit (OU). OUs are not supported by R3SETUP and R3up.

I have selected "Row Compression" and "Deferred Table Creation" during installation.
Now when I am importing add on BI Content 7.03, I am getting error during Movename tabs phase.

Whether Oracle 8.1.6 Supports Windows 2003 Server/Windows 2000 Adv. Server.
I tried it in windows 2003 server but i couldn't. Atlease tell me wheather it support windows 2000 adv. server. This is my first dba job.
Under Doc ID: 66397.1 saying Oracle 8.1.6 Not Support Windows NT Server 4.0 Terminal Server Edition.
Under Doc ID: 77627.1 saying Oracle 8.1.6 Supports Windows 2000 Support.
Please help me out urgently.

Since you have access to Metalink, you could be looking at the Certify tab to find this information. But, the answer is that 8.1.6 is no longer supported by Oracle. However, you should be able to install it on Win 2000 advanced server. You just can't get any support for it.
The earliest version of db supported on Win 2003 was either 9.0 or 9.2, but 9.0 is desupported now as well.

Java 1.4.2_03 support on Windows 2003 RC2

I installed Windows 2003 RC2 64-bit onto a Sun X4100.
Put in all the drivers and tools and everything works fine.
There is a cool tool called "LSI Logic MyManager" that utilizes java to monitor the status of the hardware OS mirror on the LSI controller.
However, after my customer installed some of their applications, the LSI Logic MyManager couldn't start anymore. Further investigation found out that the java went quiet.
Below are a few findings:
1. After new installation, when java was still working, the command "java -version" will show the correct java and version installed. But now, the same command just skips a line and back to prompt.
2. When I start the LSI Logic MyManager, it shows an error saying "Couldn't find the correct java version (1.4.2_03)"
3. Tried installing newer java like 1.4, 1.5 and also 1.6 but the software specifically looks for 1.4.2_03 only.
4. Tried uninstalling the software but erred with "Couldn't find the correct java version (1.4.2_03)" too
5. Tried installing the software onto another server (the application is able to start, as well as java) and copy the whole directory back to the server with problem. Application behave the same, shows error, and java has no response (like dead).
6. There are no newer version of LSI Logic MyManager available that hopefully supports newer java version.
So, that'all above things that I tried to solve the mystery. Anyone, any advice or solution will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry for the duplicated message. It's my first post and I messed up a little with the right section.
A new downloaded copy of the file or other versions of Java failed to install with the same error message.
I've learned there is a product ID in the registry that must be present for the installer to run. I'm searching for this "mysterious" product ID and how to set the right Windows XP Registry entry for the JSE 1.4.2_03 version.
I'm still not sure this will fix the problem.

Hyperion 11.1.3 supported environment - Windows 2003 64-bit

We are planning our migration from Windows 2003 SP1 32 bit with Hyperion 9.3.1 to Windows 2003 64bit (and whatever SP is supported) with Hyperion 11.1.3
In reviewing the oracle support doc I came across exceptions for using Windows 64 bit with 11
1. NOT SUPPORTED FOR: Data Integration Management, Production Reporting Teradata Engine.
2. EXCEPTION: Data Relationship Management and FDM do not support Oracle Access Manager, Oracle Application Server Single Sign-On, and Oracle Identity Manager.
3. 32-BIT BINARIES ONLY FOR: Data Relationship Management, EPM Workspace Services, FDM, Financial Reporting Services, Interactive Reporting Services, Shared Services (embedded Native Directory OpenLDAP service), Smart Search, and Strategic Finance.
4. FDM and Strategic Finance cannot be deployed on the same computer where Financial Management (64-bit) and Performance Management Architect (64-bit) are deployed.
I am more concerned with #3. Does this mean that those services cannot run on the 64bit machine OR that they can run on 64bit but in 32bit mode only

Does Oracle 10g R2 support installation on Windows 2003 Domain Controller? I remember that 10g R1 had issues with the DC? Is it still the case. Does it work now?

We have Oracle 10g R2 running on a Windows 2003 domain controller. It was not a domain controller when Oracle was installed. The domain was created after installation. (I don't recommend that procedure. I spent a long day fixing the installation after they configured the domain.) If Oracle is unhappy with being on a domain controller, it has not shown it yet.

Support for Windows 2003 on AGS 2.1

I've been trying to find out if AGS2.1 is supported on Windows 2003 and 2003 SP1. The installation and configuration guide document for AGS 2.0 states that the minimum system requirements are either Windows 2000 Server or NT 4.0 Server with SP6a.
Would greatly appreciate if anyone can confirm if support extends to Windows 2003 and 2003 SP1 as well.

Currently CSA does not support 64-bit platforms. This is because Microsoft has included a feature called patchguard or something like it in those platforms in order not to allow to touch Kernel, yet this is the way CSA works.
Microsoft and Cisco still working on it. It's likely that CSA v6 will support 64-bit platforms but there's no release date yet.
