Windows 2008 connected via UNC Session to a isilon

Hello,
following "Problem".
Isilon is a NAS System which provied NAS Space via SMB or NFS. In our solution the Windows Server 2008 connect the Fileshare via UNC Path witch works good.
The Isilon also provides the possiblity to distribute all incoming connections via a Round Robin DNS Service directly on the the Isilon across all front end NICs.
The problem now is when we connect to the ISILON with UNS the Server makes a DNS Lookup for the right IP-Adresse. But when the Server starts another session via UNC to the same "target" but to a other file while the
first session is also opened the Server don´t  make a new DNS query. The TTL of the first DNS lookup was 0 so there is nothing in the DNS Cache. So what is the Problem? Where is the UNC Information stored on the Server. I need the possiblity
that the Server starts a dns query for all UNC Sessions.
Can anybody help?

  • Connection to Windows 2008 Server via SMB hangs after standby

After boot or reboot, I can easily "connect to server" in finder to the Windows Server 2008 machine via smb://hostname. The network and shares work good without connection drops.
However, when my Macbook resumes from standby or hibernation, the mounts do not reconnect, and the connected server in finder keeps reconnecting until the connecting failed message appears. When trying to unmount the smb server, finder hangs from time to time. When trying to reconnect via "connect to server" using either IP address or hostname, the connecting window with the moving bar appears, but never succeeds. The only option is to reboot the machine to be able to reconnect to the windows server and mount some shares.
    Anyone any ideas?
    Thanks!

I've been having exactly the same issue on my iMac-- very frustrating. I'm not aware of a permanent cure yet, but on my system I usually can avoid a full reboot by turning my Airport/wireless on for a few seconds, and then off again. The Windows shares become visible again after doing so. (My normal state is wired network only, with Airport off.)

  • Nomad 3 is crashing windows when connected via firew

My (old) nomad 3 is crashing my Windows XP Pro SP2 whenever I connect it. It wasn't doing this a few weeks ago, and I'm not aware of any changes I have made, is there a solution to this at all?thanks

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that print can’t be done by command line “xlp –d…”, but can be done by windows printing.
I haven’t found any introduction or explanation about the command line you mentioned.
You may try the command line below to print:
    print [/d:Printer] [Drive:][Path]
    FileName [...]
Detailed information about the parameters you may reference:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc772773%28v=ws.10%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
If I have any misunderstanding about your question, could please provide me related link or more explain about the command
xlp -d //PRINTER_SERVER_NAME/PRINTER_NAME ? Does this work correctly when disconnected from VPN?
Besides, is there any error message?
    Best Regards,
    Eve Wang

  • Audit logs on Windows 2008 works different when file is modified from UNC path

    Hello All,
Here i have a strange situation with the generation of audit logs when folders\files are changed locally(my computer) on the server (vs) from the UNC path
    (\\servername\drive$\folder\....).
    File Server : Windows 2008 R2.
Audting enabled and SACL set on the folder level.
Enabled advanced auditing for Audit Object Access and enabled the force sub category audit settings on vista \ window 2008 policy via GPO and also verified that the sub category is set.
also set SACL on one folder on the R drive. (\\servername\r$\<folder>\<audited folder>
    auditpol /get /category:"Object Access"
    Object Access : File System
    Success and Failure
    Situation : 1
When i make any manipulations (traversing \ listing \ adding or deleting folder or files) on the server locally from my computer ---> . r drive --> folder --> audited folder , i get the event id generated (4663) with all the correct
    information.
For ex: created a new txt file.
Object: Object Server: Security, Object Type: File, Object Name: R:\Audits1\folder1\New Text Document.txt, Handle ID: 0xcb4
Process Information: Process ID: 0x1bac , Process Name: C:\Windows\explorer.exe
Access Request Information: Accesses: WriteData (or AddFile) AppendData (or AddSubdirectory or CreatePipeInstance) , Access Mask: 0x6
    Situation : 2
When i make the same  manipulations (traversing \ listing \ adding or deleting folder or files) on the server or remotely via the UNC path \\servername\r$\folder\audited folder or DFS share or \\servername\<sharename>
, i dont get the event id generated (4663) with the needed information.
For ex: created a new txt file.
    Object: Object Server:
    Security , Object Type:File ,
    Object Name:
R:\Audits1\folder1\New Rich Text Document (3).rtf , Handle ID:
    0xa3c
Process Information: Process ID: 0x4, Process Name:
    Access Request Information:
Accesses: WriteData(or addfile), Access Mask: 0x100
In the second situation process name is empty (for the file events) and also found that the logs generated are very less compared to the first situation.
Please suggest if there is any fix with this.
    Thanks,

Enable the following auditing on the server either through domain
    policy or local policy:
    Audit logon events - Success
    Audit Object Access  - Success
On the Auditing tab, add Everyone with the following audit settings.

  • PS CS5 Write Acess Error saving to a windows 2008 server share

    Hi Everyone,
Our macs are running Snow Leopard 10.6.7 and we save/open files on a Windows 2008 Server via SMB,
this particular problem, seems to be happening only with Photoshop:
Sometime, when we try to save an image, photoshop returns a write access error
at that time, if you go to the finder and take a look at the folder, the file had simply vanished.
If you close the image, all lost.
Everything is fine with Indesign and illustrator.
Any help would be much appreciated!!
Thank you all very much in advance.
    William

    Thanks for the reply Chris,
I am trying to look for a solution on the Mac OS side, this problem happens from time to time.
People keep trying to use Active Directory and log macs on it, it's always a problem.
And to make things worse, apple changes the way Mac OS handles network tasks,
they did it with 10.5 and 10.6. Well, we have to deal with that, right?
    Thanks again
    All the best
    William

  • Does the Sun Ray software support Windows 2008

    Hey guys,
I need to implement Sun Ray software to connect to windows server 2008 running as a terminal server, but as i understand the current release does not support windows 2008 connection. Am I right?

You may use a third party tool called "VNC". This is a great tool to connect (any) ms windows system either it has server windows or client, but should have installed "VNC" on it.
    Yom may download from
    http://www.realvnc.com/products/download.html
You should install on solaris and windows systems on theri respective versions.
    GOOD LUCK!

  • Windows 2008 R2 (64Bit) RDS & SRWC 2.2- Session Mobility

    Hello,
I am experiencing some problems with the latest SunRay Software 5 (with SRWC 2.2) and Windows 2008 R2 (64Bit) in a terminal server farm situation. The setup is configured to use RDS Session Broker (the customer is not using MS NLB).
The actual problem is with Session Mobility, if a user logs into a DTU with their card they get their remote desktop session as expected, if the user then attempts to remove their card and walk over to another DTU the session does not reconnect. For a split second you see their desktop (or their locked user screen on the terminal server) before the session on the new DTU goes black (you can see the Microsoft mouse cursor). The same experience can be found when the user connects to a DTU then attempts to log in via the Sun Ray PC Client.
If the user removes their card, then returns to the same DTU where the session was initiated from, the session resumes as expected.
To rectify, I have been terminating the sessions form the SRSS web admin which forces the user to log into the terminal server again, not ideal.
From what i have been reading, 2008 R2 uses RDP 6 and there may be a possibility that SRWC 2.2 does not support this protocol yet??
Can anyone assist me with this issue?
    Cheers,
    Ben

    Thanks for your quick reply!
Can you please give me some back ground on this known issue so I may better understand it. From memory the -0 option is a hot desking function and relates to the way the SRWC interacts with the term serv licensing??
Also, what option can you not use with the -0 option?

  • Windows 2008 R2 cluster and FTP-connection

    Hi,
We have windows 2008 r2 server cluster. There is a resource which is connected by the third part
via ftp. When they establish the connection, there is configured ip-address to certain node.
When we manage cluster, it might happen that the resource is left on the other node and when they
establish next time the ftp-connection, it says that can't connect. I've made similiar usernames with
    similiar passwords on both nodes.
Is there a possibility to configure the environment so, thta ftp-connection is not depend on which
    node the resource is?
    Br, Petteri

    Hi Peter Castle,
When you want to keep the session on one server you must use the Single Affinity option.
    The related KB:
Specifying the Affinity and Load-Balancing Behavior of the Custom Port Rule
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc759039(v=ws.10).aspx

  • Unable to browse UNC paths since restarting windows 2008 R2 server

  • Solaris nis client can't connect to Windows 2008 NIS Server across subnets

I have been using Microsoft Windows Server for NIS for years to centralize some accounts accessing Solaris and Linux OS.
Windows 2003 R2 Indentity Management for UNIX version of Server for NIS was last working version with Solairs.
After upgrading Domain to Windows 2008 all Solaris clients that are on different subnets fail to bind and connect to NIS servers now.
These servers already were setup using ypinit -c to manually add the NIS servers to connect to and prior to Windows 2008 this worked.
Now no Solaris nis clients on different subnets (no firewall between) can connect , but other Unix/Linux OS connect fine.
Is this a known issue and can we get a resolution as it seems only Solaris is affected?

    Hi Mid.Hudson-IT,
Before we begin ,we should ensure we have configured the printer server correctly .
Here is a link for reference of configuring the printer server .
Print server role: Configuring a print server
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc775791(v=ws.10).aspx
"I can map all of the printers on the network to the print server as-well as install the drivers correctly and I can resolve the IP and server name via DNS"
From this sentence ,I can`t figure out whether you have tried to ping the server both with the IP adress and name adress from the client ?
If we can ping the print server from the client,we can ensure the connection to the printer server is good .
Then we can try to install the printer driver directly to have a check .In the adress bar of Windows Explorer ,input "\\server name \the printer name"
If we cannot ping the print server ,we should troubleshoot the network issue firstly.
We also can check the event viewer for more information to troubleshoot this issue .
    Best regards

  • Connect via Windows Powershell in SCCM 2012 CONSOLE (with PowerShell 4.0 installed)

    Hi,
When trying to "Connect via Windows Powershell" in the SCCM 2012 console, I get the message that Powershell 3.0 is not installed... (which actually isn't installed, we have PS4.0 installed). Do we need to install PS3.0 also to get it working
or is there a workaround? Connecting manually to the site via Powershell 4.0 (Get-Psdrive -psprovider CMSITE) works like a charm.
    Regards,
    WiM

    Hi,
I have installed WMF 4.0 on Windows Server 2008 R2 sp1, it works fine.
Please try to use "$PSVersionTable" to confirm Powershell version is 4.0. At first, I forgot to install Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5, then the console gave me the message that Powershell 3.0 is not installed.
    Best Regards,

    Any idea ?
    Thanks
    Flavio

    Hi Flavio,
It seems that you are facing issue with the RDCB load balancing between servers. Might possible that there is some wrong configuration happens which cause this issue. Still I like you to recheck all the configuration for your environment. Also as you said it
works with admin users, have you provide access to user to connect to the server?
From the error description it appears to be error 802 with specific code. To troubleshoot this issue, you can apply below steps and try.
    1. Please try to limit single RDS session for TS user.
    2. Install RDS broker to separate server
    3. Run NLB diagnose to check if any issue related to NLB
    4. Use IP address redirection instead of token redirection
Also try to apply this policy settings.
Computer Configuration / Administrative Templates / Windows Components / Remote Desktop Services / Remote Desktop Session Host / RD Connection Broker /
Use RD Connection Broker load balancing: Enabled
Configure RD Connection Broker server name: Enabled
And then apply gpupdate /force on every server and check the result.
Here is the article for related error only for reference.
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.
