Windows 2008 FRS port Customization causing Replication Delay
Hi
we have 4 windows 2008 R2 DC. we have restricted the port for FRS Replication. now we are facing replication delay.
Not finding any error in DCDIAG, REPADMIN /Showreps and in FRS event there is an error 13508 and it is not recovering since from 3 days to 13509 so please suggest the solution

We can restrict FRS replication traffic to a specific static port. However, if there is an intermediate network device or software that is being used to filter packets between domain controllers, we need to verify that the device or the software
allows communication over the specified port. Additionally, make sure the destination TCP port that we set is open on the firewall.

Dear Tech Gurus,
Please see that we have Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition on which we run our application which uses TCP Port 49158.
Yesterday our application stopped accidentally and when we tried to start application again it refuses.
I have telnet 127.0.0.1 49158 and it shows the same server get this port.
I change the port to 48157 and again try to run the server and it started successfully.
Today same issue happened. And now the 48157 is not working same behavior and I change the port to 49158 and it works fine.
What will be the possible reason please help.

I have a server with Intel 82576 Gigabit Dual Port Nics. I have configured them to use iSCSI boot the primary looks to 10.0.0.1/24 and the secondary looks to 10.0.1.1/24. The target is configured correctly. Everything boots as expected.
I have added the MPIO feature and configured MPIO for the iscsi initiator as per: http://blogs.technet.com/b/migreene/archive/2009/08/29/3277914.aspx.
My issue is that the iSCSI networks show up in the routing table like so:
I did not configure a default route in the Intel setup utility:
I tried to explicitly remove the 0.0.0.0 entry and leave blank, with no change. As you can see with the above routing table traffic attempts to travel over these routes:

A ping to the outside world first attempts on 10.0.0.x/24 network, then on 10.0.1.x/24 network and then finally on the network the traffic should go over. I don't want my iSCSI traffic to ever show up with a default route. How do I get rid of it?

route delete 0.0.0.0 deletes all default routes, then I have to add back in the "valid default route" of 192.168.100.6.
I would like to not have to do a route delete though.So I've sort of given up on fixing the gateway assignment in the route for iSCSI boot. I configured a DHCP server to give out the information required by iSCSI boot and configured the network cards to use DHCP for their configuration. I insured
that my DHCP server gave out no default gateway entry. However, I still got the undesired routes in the routing table. This makes me assume that there isn't a "fix" for it, only the workaround.
Here is the script I run on each iSCSI Boot initiator (you would obviously change the ip number to suit your environment):

How to check DFS replication status in windows 2008 r2 file server

I have created File server DFS namespace between 2 windows 2008 R2 server. namespace mode is 2008. I have copied 3 TB data on file server 1. now it is getting replicated from file server 1 to file server 2. till now the data is not fully replicated.

Do Ultrasound and Sonar work with DFS Replication?
No. DFS Replication has its own set of monitoring and diagnostics tools. Ultrasound and Sonar are only capable of monitoring FRS.
Is there a way to know the state of replication?
Yes. There are a number of ways to monitor replication:
DFS Replication has a management pack for System Center Operations Manager 2007 that provides proactive monitoring.
DFS Replication has an in-box diagnostic report for the replication backlog, replication efficiency, and the number of files and folders in a given replication group.
Dfsrdiag.exe is a command-line tool that can generate a backlog count or trigger a propagation test. Both show the state of replication. Propagation shows you if files are being replicated to all nodes. Backlog shows you how many files still need to replicate
before two computers are in sync. The backlog count is the number of updates that a replication group member has not processed. On computers running Windows Server 2008 R2, Dfsrdiag.exe can also display the updates that DFS Replication is currently
replicating.
Scripts can use WMI to collect backlog information—manually or through MOM.

Long delay for authentication dialog 10.6.x to Windows 2008 SBS
I am encountering a very long delay (30-45 seconds) for the authentication dialog when connecting from Mac OS X 10.6.2 clients to a Windows 2008 Small Business Server.
We are connecting using the "Connect to Server" dialog, using smb://<server host name> and smb://<server IP address> as the URIs. Once the authentication dialog eventually comes up the users can log in successfully and access the shares on the server normally and at normal speed.
I see this entry show up in the system.log when a smb connection is started:
/System/Library/CoreServices/NetAuthAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/NetAuthAgent ### * process ### exceeded 500 log message per second limit - remaining messages this second discarded *
I would like to see the NetAuthAgent log that is referred to in the error but I haven't been able to determine where this log resides or it I need to set NetAuthAgent or the smb client into a debug mode to capture logging.
I have tried many of the usual fixes on the server side when it comes to Mac compatibility including:
•Disabled SMB signing
•Setting these registry values to 0:
HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Lanmanserver\Parameters\Enablesecurity signature
HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Lanmanserver\Parameters\Requiresecurit ysignature

EPM 11.1.2: Foundation Services config fails on Windows 2008 SP1 server.
Hi,
I installed EPM 11.1.2 on Windows 2008 SP1, 32-bit. The installation succeeded (no errors in logs). However, when I run EPM Configurator to configure Foundation Services, it fails.
Environment:
EPM Server: Windows 2008 SP1 32-bit
RDBMS: Oracle Enterprise Edition 10.2.0.4 (running on remote AIX 5.3 TL 8 server)
Oracle Client: 10.2.0.4 (full client install)
The configtool.log (see below) indicates that the program cannot find the reg.properties file. I checked the server and this file does not exist. The log file also reports non-existing classpath entries (not sure if this is related). The registry.log file (see below) reports a jdbc driver error: java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-00917: missing comma.
I submitted a service request with Oracle Support, but the support engineer said that installation and configuration errors are outside the scope of technical support.
Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Each time I have tried to reinstall, I have uninstalled all EPM/Oracle components, removed registry keys, removed EPM environment variables and removed references to oracle in the PATH environment variable.
I have tried installing/configuring HSS 11.1.2 on both Windows 2008 SP1 64-bit and Windows 2008 SP1 32-bit. The configuration error is the same.
I was able to get my SR reassigned to a different support analyst, and we are working on troubleshooting now.
If you can think of anything else to try, let me know.
BTW...on the 32-bit server, the page file maximum is 16GB (should be enough)?

Unable to login to Report Service on Windows 2008 R2 server
I have reporting services installed on a Windows 2008 R2 server, When I make and RDP connection to the server and go to http://servername/Reports everything works fine. When I try to connect from another client to the web service, it asks for username and
password. it fails 3 times and the shows a blank page.

According to your description, when you try to access the Report Manager in another client, a login dialog prompt. After typing a valid username and password 3 times, a blank page displays.
Generally, the issue is always caused by the Report Server is configured to use Kerberos authentication, while the Service Principal Name(SPN) is not configured correctly. To fix this issue, please refer to the following methods:
Register an SPN for the Report Server service under the domain user account.
Change the service account to run under a built-in account such as Network Service.
Remove RSWindowsNegotiate and ensure RSWindowsNTLM is specified in the rsreportserver.config file.
Besides, the issue can also be caused by the Internet Explorer (IE) didn't pass the user's credential to the Report Server automatically or the IE is not Windows Integrated enabled. For more detail steps about how to address this issue, please refer to the

Slow network printing on Windows 2008 Server
Hi,
We are just testing/configuring a Windows 2008 (x64) server to replace an aging Windows 2000 file & print server.
I have added the print services role and added a network TCP/IP printer (a HP Laserjet 2200).
When I print to this printer from either the server (via print test page) or from a client, it takes around 30 seconds before the print will start to print. On our Windows 2000 server, this would print immediately.
I have insalled the HP 2200 driver that came with Windows 2008.
Anyone any ideas where to find the problem causing the delay?

I have done some research and I find firewall component of the antivirus software such as Mcafee might cause similar network delay issues.
If you have installed AV softwares on Windows Server 2008, please try uninstalling it temperately and test whether this will make any difference.
Moreover, You could also try disabling TCP Chimney Offload, RSS, Receive Window Auto-Tuning Level on Windows Server 2008 one by one to see whether it makes any difference.
To disable TCP Chimney Offload, follow these steps:
a. Use administrative credentials to open a command prompt.
b. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
netsh int tcp set global chimney=disabled
To disable RSS, follow these steps:
a. Use administrative credentials to open a command prompt.
b. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
netsh int tcp set global RSS=disabled
To disable 'Receive Window Auto-Tuning Level', follow these steps: :
a. Use administrative credentials to open a command prompt.
b. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled

Please run the cluster validation and make sure the node1 network configuration is properly configured, this issue is due the communication timeout between the nodes.
There are 2 causes for this issue
1 --> Duplicate accounts in AD, this error occurs if you are adding node to cluster which has the computer name same as the user account name in active directory
2 --> windows firewall port might block the communication ports between the nodes, please make sure you turn off windows firewall on both the nodes
Look for any specific errors in system event logs
If you dont get much information then please generate cluster log and upload it here then we can analyse and see what's causing this issue.
Cluster log /gen
will generate a cluster log and place it in the %systemroot%\Windows\System32\Cluster\Reports

So i will explain problems what i have seen:
SSID: DTS-Group using authentication EAP with RADIUS and it working great (Authentication Type from Aironet to RADIUS is PEAP)
SSID:L6-Webauthen-test using web-auth and i had try to compare with RADIUS but ROOT CAUSE is AUTHENTICATION TYPE from Aironet to RADIUS default is PAP. (Reason Code : 66)
=> I had trying to find how to change Authentication Type of Web-Auth on Cisco Aironet from PAP to PEAP or sometime like that for combine with RADIUS.
Any idea or recommend for me ?

PAP is the default authentication type for web-auth users on Aironet 2702i, so it can't combine with Radius Window 2008 because they just support PEAP (CHAPv1,CHAPv2....) => Please give me a tip how to change Authentication Type from PAP to PEAP for Web Authentication on Aironet -
Msiscsi.sys crashing in Windows 2008 R2 Datacenter x64
After enabling MPIO for ISCSI one of our HyperV Clustered Windows 2008 R2 Datacenter x64 servers has been unstable, crashing 3-5 times daily. I've had to take it out of service and after analyzing the dump file it seems there is an issue with msiscsi.sys and overlapping drivers 'tssecsrv' and 'tdtcp.sys' This all started occuring after we enabled MPIO to connect to our Promise Vessraid ISCSI using MultiPath I/O over iSCSI. We are connecting using two intel network cards to 2 gigabit ports on the VessRaid. Other than the Intel network drivers (v14.7 package version 11.0.103 7/14/2009) and Intel Matrix Storage Array 10R drivers, everything is Microsoft (OS, patches, iscsi initiator, HyperV, MPIO) Any ideas and where to start?

I have been trying to set up OIF on a Windows 2008 machine. I can install the DB (11gR2) and Weblogic Server (10.3.5). When I try to run the Oracle Universal Installer (11.1.1.2) installing but not configuring, it works properly. I then patch that using the OUI 11.1.1.5, and that also works fine. The problem comes when I try to configure. I get through the entire specification process and I choose to create a new domain (I only am installing OIF and the associated software needed for that) but when it starts the actual configuration it stalls. It's telling me it can't connect to the host, but nowhere am I asked to provide any information about that. I've googled this, but I can't seem to find any information. Also worth noting, I had to significantly shorten the error log because it was too long.hi Guru's.. please advice.
