Windows 2008 MSCS, CRM 7.0 (Java + ABAP)

Hi there,
We are about to learn and build/Install SAP CRM 7.0 on Windows 2008 & Oracle 10g. As we know, CRM 7.0 JAVA and ABAP has to be a separate installation using SAPinst.  Since our Hardware is well sized in-terms of Memory and CPU (32 GB and 8 Processors). We are planning to install ABAP and Java on the same server/host.  However, SAP Installation guide says that
"NOTE MSCS only: Multiple Oracle Homes are not supported in an MSCS configuration". This mean we cannot install 2 Oracle homes (one for CRM ABAP and One for CRM Java). At the same time SAP also do not recommend MCOD (Installing Java as an Add-in to an existing ABAP existing Oracle Database).
What will happen if we decided to install a common Oracle Home, called (CRM) - and Make the Java and ABAP Separated installation to use the common oracle and Cluster the Oracle Database? Do you guys see any cons on this?
Can someone advice me please, on how do we go around above scenario (s) and Install ABAP and Java separate and Cluster the Oracle Database on Windows MSCS?
Any thoughts?
Thanks in Advance.

Hi Peter,
I have the same question,  I'm not sure if I understand your last answer. On the document "Installation of Multiple SAP systems in MSCS Oracle" I can see, Multiple Oracle databases in MSCS are supported. On section  "Installation" is describt the following:
later on is describt:
1. On all DB MSCS nodes, you install the Oracle database server software and the current patch set and hot fix (if available).
Note
- You must have one ORACLE_HOME per database instance on every cluster node on local disks.
- All ORACLE_HOMES must use the same disks and directories and ORACLE_HOME names on all DB MSCS nodes.
Now I saw on Peters answer - Multiple Oracle Home are not longer possible in MSCS on Windows 2008 - only for Windows 2008? What about Windows 2003? Does it mean, we can not install more then one database on the (MultiSID) MSCS cluster?
We want to install an SAP ME and SAP MII System in MSCS and to the same cluster two databases Instances with ODS and WIP schema.
Thanks in advanced,
Elke

Actually, before starting SAPinst, i had created SAP<SAPSID> service & Application.
i.e.. by creating Empty service and application followed by renaming it to SAP<sapsid> and allocating shared disk and bringing it onlie with file server configuration with in it.
But, i'm facing the error during configuration of First node.
Done with ASCS and SCS .. selecting the correct drive where /usr/sap installed.
i request you to suggest me a solution to fix this problem during installation.
    Thanking you in all,
    Best regards,

  • Windows 2003 Upgrade to Windows 2008 on MSCS

    Hi ,
We were running our NW 7.0 ABAP+JAVA system on Windows 2003 and SQL 2005 .  Somehow in some misscommunication the Network administrator has formated the system without taking the OS level image backup . This is our production system .
We did not take the system export before that .
    Here is the situtaion :
He has detach the database and SAN . Install Windows 2008 and SQL 2008 . after this we have attached the database and SAN both ,
Now do we need to delte all the old SAP installation files from the SAN or we can just install the Central Service Instance and we will be good ? Do we need to do the rest of the instllation like Database Instance installation ,First MSCS Node ,Additional MSCS node etc...
What is the best way to install the SAP system on it with all the data  . We have the data files and system files available with us .
Appriciate your quick help on this .
    Thanks ,

    Hi orkun,
That is what i was thinking but SAP is not recommending this and asking me to Go back to Windows 2003 and SQL 2005 and install SAP their from Scratch .
They are not suggesting to install SAP on windows 2008 and restore the database .

  • Installation ERP 6.0 EHP4 on MSCS windows 2008 - oracle 10

    Hi,
I'm installing an ERP 6.0 EHP4 on platform windows 2008 - oracle 10 with MSCS.
Cluster is configure as described in SAP installation manual.
Network configuration is set up as described in SAP installation manual.
During step --> First MSCS Node (7.3.5 Configuring the First MSCS Node) sapinst got an error before end of input parameters.
In other forum I've found to check MSCS network configuration, but it seems OK.
    Any idea ?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
my SAP system is 7.01 kernel based so I can't apply control.xml of "Note 1249469 - SAP NetWeaver Based On Kernel 7.11: Windows".
I've just download new control.xml file attached to "Note 1326698 - SAP NetWeaver 7.01 SR1/Business Suite 7 SR1: Windows" but error still remains.
So I've compared the two control.xml files in corrispondence of function IPAddress(adr), where the error "modlib.jslib.invalidIPAddressNumber" is returned.
The difference between files are reported below (first control.xml for kernl 701 and before control.xml files for kernel 7.11).
I've noticed that in my control.xml files is missing the following code:
          while (num < 0) {
            num += 0x100000000;
For a test I've tried to modify my control.xml files adding this code and there is no error; I can see "Parameter Summary" of sapinst program. Now I can go on with installation, clicking on next.
Now I've to decide if going on with installation or opening a support message to SAP Support for validating this solution.
What do you think about this ?
    Bye
    Maurizio

    Hi!
Windows 2008 R2 is not yet listed in the PAM - and hence not yet supported. The technical prerequisites are met (with a special kernel patch) but not all software is released, so you may get it to run technically but not everything is tested and so, you should not install any SAP system on it!
In fact, and just to provide you further details it is not possible to expect the 710 products released for Windows Server 2008 R2 before around four weeks; 700 products will be released even after 710.
See [SAP note 1383873|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1383873]  ("Windows Server 2008 R2 Support").
You can be always up to date with the latest Windows news at:

  • The cluster resource could not be found-SAP ECC on Windows Server 2008 MSCS

    Hi,
I'm installing SAP ECC 6.0 on Windows server 2008 MSCS Cluster. As mentioned in the guide, i've created a service and added a resource.
I was able to successfully configure the DB installation and cluster configuration. But when I start the ASCS installation, the installation fails when it tries to create system folders with the following error.
Error when sharing file system export (share) saploc : The cluster resource could not be found
I'm using a user with domain admin access and also a member of the local administrators group. I've even tried to install using the domain administrator user but still the problem exists.
Can anyone please let me know where am I going wrong ?
NB: The host on which I'm installing is not a domain controller but it is a member of a domain.
    Regards,
    Varadharajan M

    Yes Krishna,
I've not created any shared folders manually and I've used the "Use domain of current user" option.
Actually SAPINST has created the usr and sap folder in the SAP drive (say E: drive) which is a clustered disk. The name of that clustered sidk is "Clustered Disk 1". I could able to open up the shared directories available in that SAP virtual host by issuing
<SAPGRP>. I don't know where am I going wrong:( I've also opened a call with a SAP and waiting for their reply.

  • Java 1.6 u38 stopps working on Windows 2008 R2 Terminal Server

    Hello,
I have got a strange behavior on our Terminal Server Farm. We have updated our Servers to Windows 2008 R2. Java 1.6 u38 runs fine, but it stops working suddenly.
Reinstall solves the Problem, but only for several hours. Then some users are not able to use Java from Internet Explorer or direct starting JNLP Applications.
Java starts, but nothing happens. You can see the Java6 Startup Windows with the dots running and thats all.
Admin Users are ables to use Java and some "normal" Users are able, too. After reinstall all user are able to use Java. Next day all servers from our RDS Farm are falling out again.
No eventlog entries or anti-virus entires are present.
Does anybody have an idea whats going on here?

  • Java app on 64 bit Windows 2008

I need help finding the solution to a problem that I'm having with an java application that I'm running on 64 bit Windows 2008 Server for a P to V, physical to virtual server migration. My application has been running fine on Windows 2003 32 bit OS. Windows 2008 Server seems to be causing my applicaton to issue file copy errors (null value) for a text file that is a basic listing of a directory, nothing large or arcane. Also, the application does not move files from folders designated in the properties file. I gave admin access to all resources the application requires. I'm stuck at a standstill. I installed jdk1.6.0_26 and modified the PATH environment variable by adding the following: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_26\jre . I also installed the 32 and 64 bit version of jre 6_26 to no avail. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

I need some clues like what .dll's should be registered throught the Windows GAC. That has absolutely nothing to do with the problem you described.
You stated that your application is running.
If a dll fails to load then you will get an exception that specifically indicates something like that or optionally you will get some horredous exception that means nothing. Or the VM will not run at all.
And unless your java code is eating exceptions you are not getting any exceptions. If your code is doing that then your java code is wrong and the solution is to fix the java code so it does report the exceptions.
Presuming that you are not eating exceptions and that you are not getting exceptions, since you didn't state you had any, it means it has nothing to do with dlls.
It could be a permission problem, but that would again suggest that you are eating exceptions.

  • OS Migration from Windows 2003 cluster  to Windows 2008 R2 MSCS

We want to go for windows 2008 R2 server ( 64-Bit)  MSCS by migrating from windows 2003 Cluster ( 32- Bit) . We are running on ECC 6.0 and oracle 10.2.0.2 DB.
    Is it possible ?
Is it traditional System copy if so how to migrate the cluster ?
    Regards

    > 2. If the oracle version is 10.2.0.2 then does it will support Windows 2008 R2.
You need at least 10.2.0.4 (you need to install that version with a separate DVD, you can't install with the normal Oracle DVD (10.2.0.1). See
Note 1303262 - Oracle on Windows Server 2008
Be aware of the fact that the normal standard support for 10.2.x is ending at end of july (you'll have to pay an extra maintenance fee if you continue to run that version) - see
Note 1110995 - Extended maintenance for Oracle Version 10.2
So if you now do a system copy to new hardware with a new os anyway, I would upgrade to 11.2.

Open you cluster console and select NODE A there you should be able to identify the disks for DB clustering,
Copy that name and paste it here for  DISK_NAME
    DISK_NAME = DATABASE_CD2
    DISK_NAME = DBLOGS_CD4
    #INSTPROF_DISK = Disk M:
    #TARGET_DRVMAP_DISK = Disk M:
With the above process you should be able to cluster your DB.
    2) Please provide all the steps that you were identified to install , that would give more clarity to reply back where ever required.
    Thanks,

  • Java gets error pki-02002 accessing wallet on windows 2008 with Oracle 12 only

I have a windows 2008 server with Oracle 12 client installed and I can't figure out what is preventing me from running java commands that use the wallet.  The wallet itself seems to be fine as I can log in with SQLPLUS using the wallet, it is only when I try to run a java command that it fails with a PKI-02002 error.
Also - I can run the same command line without error with oracle 11 installed, so it seems to be something that differs between oracle 11 and 12.   Any ideas of what I should look for?  I've checked permissions on
    Here is the error:
java.sql.SQLException: encountered a problem with the Secret Store. Check the wallet location for the presence of an open wallet (cwallet.sso) and ensure that this wallet contains the correct credentials using the mkstore utility: java.io.IOException: PKI-02002: Unable to open the wallet. Check password.

    Hi,
I am having exactly the same problem. Did you ever come to a resolution on this problem???

  • Sapjup cannot find correct shares on Windows 2008 R2 cluster

    Hello Guru's,
I have succesfully installed CRM 5 Abap+Java on Windows 2008 R2 based hardware. This is a HA setup.
I am now in the process of upgrading to CRM 7.01. Unfortunately, the java upgrade program SAPjup runs into an error (share
Host_A\sapmnt does not exist)  I cannot solve up to now.
    This is my setup:
I have two application servers: Host_A and Host_B. Both servers form a Microsoft Failover Cluster. The shared disk for the abap and java central services is the F:\ drive, the cluster name is Cluster_X.
The Central Instance is installed on the local disk G:\ of Host_A; The Dialog instance on local disk G:\ of Host_B.
As instructed in the manual, I have moved the SAP cluster to Host_A and started the the upgrade process on G:\ drive of the same host.
During the phase PREPARE/INIT/INPUT_SAPSERVICESID_PWD_HA, the SAPjup program is trying to map the
Host_A\sapmnt share to a drive letter ('net use' command). This step results in an error.
I can explain this error since the proper share in my opinion should be
    Cluster_X\sapmnt instead of
    Host_A\sapmnt.
In Windows 2003 this was not a problem, because
    Cluster_X\sapmnt and
Host_A\sapmnt can both be accessed and refers to the same disk location when the cluster group is active on Host_A. However, in Windows 2008 R2 this is not the case anymore and
Host_A\sapmnt is not a valid share.
Has any one of you run into this same problem or have suggestions how to solve?

I owe you an answer for the issue we had.
I opened a message with SAP, and got acklowledge that this is indeed a bug in SAPJup. SAP is working on a solution.
The work around (which was succesful) was as follows:
    1. I moved the SAP Cluster group to Host_B (the DI host).
    2. I created g:\sapmnt on Host_A and copied content from the shared drive
    Cluster_X\sapmnt
    to this local drive.
    3. I shared diretory g:\sapmnt with share name sapmnt on Host_A and gave
    SAP_<SID>_GlobalAdmin Read/write access.
Now SAPJup can continue. At the next interrup, you can remove the local directory g:\sapmnt and move the cluster disk back to Host_A.
I will give an update and close this thread as soon as I get a definitive solution from SAP AG for this issue.

  • How to install DB6(DB2 for LUW) on a windows 2008 R2 failover cluster NodeB

    Hi Gurus,
I am building a ECC6 EhP4 cluster on windows 2008 R2, I am following the installation guide chapter 7(document name: Installation guide SAP ERP6.0 EhP4 Ready SR1 ABAP on windows: IBM DB2 for Linux, Unix and Windows). But the step listed in the guide are not so clear and I have trouble for the database installation on the second node.
    What I have done is:
    1. 7.4.1 Preparing the database for MSCS step1 and 3
    2. 7.4.2 Windows Server 2008: Creating the sap services and application
    3. 7.4.3 Installing the central services Instance for ABAP (ASCS)
    4. 7.4.4 Configuring the first MSCS node
    5. 7.4.5 Installing the database instance on an mscs node(as i have done 7.4.1, i got some error in this step, then i checked some note and in note 1493410, it mentioned don't do step 7.4.1, so I uninstall the DB2, and get this step finished)
    6. 7.4.6 Configuring the database for MSCS
    7. 7.4.7 Configuring the Additional MSCS Node
    8. 7.4.8 Installing an Enqueue Replicaiton Sever
    9. 7.4.9 Installing the central instance
    10. 7.4.10 Installing the dialog instance
Now I got problem on the database group, I cannot fail this to the second node. the DB2 Server resource cannot bring online to the second node. I think step 1, 4 and 5 may has some issue, but I don't know how should I install this database.
note 1493410's word confusing me, below is part of that note:
Chapter "Preparing the Database for MSCS"
You must not apply this chapter at the beginning of the installation. Instead, start the installation process with the next chapter "Configuring the First MSCS Node"
Follow the instructions in chapter "Preparing the Database for MSCS" in the exit step described in the chapter "Installing the Database Instance on an MSCS Node" before executing the db2mscs tool on the additional MSCS node only.
Point "3. Install all required operating system users ..." of this chapter is obsolete.
Anyone think my cluster still have chance to be fixed or I need rebuild it from scratch again. If I need build it again, I still don't know how to do the database installation on the second node
    BR,
    Peter

    Hi pal,
Have you identified Ips and group  names on which your sap application and DB should run..
    I will give a overview...
    Exam ples -
    NODE A                  - 192.168.x.1
NODE B                   - 192.168.x.2 are the one which you idetify physical systems
    1) Identify the drives you want to map for application and DB and make a partation and name the drives
    2) Initially  create Microsoft cluster service which creats cluster group----
CLUSTER GROUP   - 192.168.x.3 - Cluster name could be any thing meaningful...
    Quorum  disk          - 192.168.x.4 - 1 Gb drive
In point 2 if you are creating Cluster service with Heart ips you will naother ips for NODE A and NODE B ( 10.0.0.1 and 10.0.0.2)
    3) Test and validate cluster configuration and ensure no erros are reflected
Above activities can be done with the help of OS Admin....
Now start working with SAP installation, even before that identify 2 names and ip address for SAP installation
Application group name can be as follows  --
    APPLPRD - 192.168.-x..5
Database group name can be as follows -
    DBPRD - 192.168.x.6
You when you identify above drives for file systems and groups , you can start installation as mentioned in th guide...
Also let us know if you atrying to install EHP4  or EHP4.. as there some corrections to be followed in EHP4..
Open a new thread if you facing futher issues...
    thanks,
    rahuk
