I am using Windows 2008 R2 as WDS and i have issue for booting pc's which have no built-in NIC. remeber that pc's having built-in NIC is working all ok........................ plz help me

To perform a PXE boot on a computer to install an image we must first enable the PXE option in BIOS, please confirm your NIC support the PXE boot.

How to Setup Windows TFTP Server in Windows 2008 R2

Hi,
Can anyone please let me know, how to install TFTP Server in Windows 2008 R2.
I installed Windows Deployment Service to get TFTP (got this info in some forum), but I did not see TFTP Service in the Service Manager.
I am a newbie so plz let me know the steps in details.

Deploying Windows 7 Via WDS using Unattend.xml Answer File

I have been trying to transition over to using WDS for my main method of Windows 7 image deployment in our Server 2008 R2 domain environment. I am having trouble with getting the answer file to work properly. I have read through multiple threads, posts, and guides including the guide on this site:

Now, what happens is - the image installs on the client successfully, I am not prompted for any input during the installation, it is fully automated. Windows boots successfully after installation, and I can log in with the "adminaccount" that was included in the image. The OS IS activated. The computer IS joined to the domain, however the computer is named: DomainUser1. I deleted the computer account in AD, I pushed it again and it named the computer to: DomainUser2. I'm not sure why the computer is being named the name of the domain user. Originally I had put in TestComputer for the computer name in the answer file, but it still had named it DomainUser1, so I took the TestComputer out of the answer file, thinking it would prompt me for a name, but instead it named it DomainUser2. This is one issue.
The second issue is, after the first log in, the "Set Network Location" box pops up. Is there a way to avoid this so the user is not asked this?
Third, I need the user that's created during the process to be disabled after it's created since I already have an administrator account included in the image. However the OOBE needs to have a user created, so I just had it create one.

For your first question, based on my knowledge, if ComputerName is missing, you must enter a computer name during OOBE.
I suggest you write an empty string in Computer Name to check if can get a random computer name. If ComputerName is set to an asterisk (*) or is an empty string, a random computer name will be generated. This random name has at most eight
characters from the RegisteredOwner and/or RegisteredOrganization strings plus random characters.
The second one, if you want to disable set network location wizard, you may try to add a command in Run Synchronous Command
setting, just like this command:
CommandLine = REG ADD “HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network\NewNetworkWindowOff”

for the last question, based on my knowledge, the sysprep tool will disable the built-in administrator but not clear the password. So you can enable it in your answer file to check how it works.

Windows 2008 R2 SP1 (64bit) shared folders no longer work with Windows 7 Pro but do work with WindowsXP & Windows 2003

As of last week, our Windows 7 Pro workstations can not map or browse the Windows 2008 Server shares. They can ping the Windows 2008 server. The Windows 7 Pro machines can still access the Windows 2003 Server Shares. The older workstations running Windows
XP can still map to the both the Windows 2003 & Windows 2008 Servers. All the servers can browse to each others shared folders (2 windows 2003 server & 1 windows 2008 server).

Ok, now you're down to network or permissions issues. An unedited ipconfig /all
of server and problem workstation may help. You could also try setting up some auditing.

Windows 2008 Server and Windows 8 clients

Hey Guys,
I have had this problem for sometime now and really need a solution. I have Windows 2008 Enterprise Server running about 200+ terminal services clients. All Windows XP clients are fine, Windows 7 clients have issues when they get an updated version of
remote desktop client(to solve the issue we simply rollback the update), Windows 8 clients cannot connect and use out remote app. The issue stems from the newer version of remote desktop client (on windows 7 and embedded in windows 8) cannot connect to our
terminal server and generates an error and immediately disconnects. The error says "
Your computer can't connect to the remote computer because an error occurred on the remote computer that you want
to connect to
So my questions are, how can i update my Windows 2008 Terminal server version to support these clients, or do u have migrate to Windows 2012? Or is there a solution to my current problem which will allow my client to connect and use the remoteapps?

LAN manager authentication level settings (Local security policy->Local Policies->Security Options->Network Security: LAN Manager Authentication level).

Bit Locker on windows 2008 R2 Virtual machine

Hello there !
We have a a number of Windows 2008 R2 machines and we wish to provide an encryption mechanism for each Virtual machine.
It's a VMware environment and all the VM files go into NFS drives.
Do you think , Bitlocker will help ?
Is Bitlocker supported on Virtual machines ?
In my opinion , Bitlocker is to safeguard against any "physical" threat to a machine.
But I wanted a second opinion here.

How to install a plugin on 64 bits windows 2008 server?

Error in installing Oracle client 11g on Windows 2008 R2 (64bit) XenApp 6

I am trying to install "win64_11gR2_client.zip" Oracle 11g Client 64bit on Windows 2008 R2 that has been clamped and restricted by our security department. Details of the clamp:

The Windows 2008 R2 server is running on CITRIX XenApp 6.
When we try to install the client on a normal version of Windows 2008 R2 without the Clamp, the installation follows through and successfully. However, when we try to install the 11g Client on the Clamped Windows 2008 R2, we get the error below:
[INS-08802] Unable to instantiate the View class referred by View ID 'SummaryUI'
This indicates the primary issue is with the clamp. My issue now is knowing what exactly is causing the error. what restrictions should I enable from the clamp in order to get the installation working?

Windows Update, or download the installation package and then install manually?

Error connecting to the SAP SRV on Windows 2008 Server platform

Hi All
We have a problem with one of our clients they bought a new sbs windows server 2008 and we loaded sql 2005 and sap b1 SP01 PL07.
When we did the SBO install we experience connection issues and we created odbc connection on the server using named pipes and tcp/ip (used both server name and Ip address).
We also configured the server in configuration manager and we managed to login and solved the slow system connection issue. We also created odbc connection on the client machines. (Machine are on a workgroup and users have administration access on all machines),we also installed native client on all machines.
After the first batch of client installs we managed to have connection, they were other computers which were left out during the first client install and now the client want to do the remaining machines connected to SBO. On every machine that we install now we get the same error :-

yes we are using Windows 2008 SBS for the SAP EHP4 FOR SAP ERP 6.0/NW7.01 installation.
we tried to create the key but it says access is denied.
Actual thing is we got the server with Windows 2008 server 64 bit SBS (standard FE) with Domain Controller (DC) configuration.
We have removed the DC using dcpromo to convert into Wokgroup and tried the SAP installation.
I hope you got the idea and please let me know any further suggestions or it is the problem with the license.

Windows 2008 R2 is not yet listed in the PAM - and hence not yet supported. The technical prerequisites are met (with a special kernel patch) but not all software is released, so you may get it to run technically but not everything is tested and so, you should not install any SAP system on it!
In fact, and just to provide you further details it is not possible to expect the 710 products released for Windows Server 2008 R2 before around four weeks; 700 products will be released even after 710.

11g GC Installation Problem on Windows 2008

Hi All
I am facing a problem installing 11GC on Windows 2008. The installer will not get past "Step 12 - Agent Configuration Assistant" - it shows as FAILED.
My setup is as following:
- GCSERVER: where I am installing GC - Windows 2008 R1 32-bit (Actually a VMware VM)
- DBSERVER: where em repository db resides - Windows 2008 R1 64-bit (Physical Server)
The steps I have followed:
- Created a new database called emrep111 (11.1.0.7) on DBSERVER
- Installed WL Server (10.3.2) on GCSERVER
- Run GC 11.1.0.1.0 for Win32 on GCSERVER and then get error
I have to cancel the installation at this stage, however, I would have expected by the time it gets to this stage it would have done the important stuff, however, when I browse to the EM URL I get "Backend WLS or EM application seems to be down".
If anyone has any experience of 11g GC on Windows I would be grateful if you have any advice on Troubleshooting this problem.

Windows 2008 R2, converting to dynamic disk questions

Hello,
   I have a Windows 2008 R2 server and I want to convert the drive into a dynamic disk for mirroring. The disk currently is divided into two partitions. The C: partition which is System,Boot, Page File, etc. and the D: partition which
is data. The questions I have are:
    Can a disk with multiple partitions be created without data loss or anything?
    I know you have to reboot, but how long does it usually take to do the reboot/conversion before the server is back up?
    I want to mirror the drive to a 2nd identical disk in the server, and am planning to use Computer Management. Do I have to partition the second drive first, or will the process do it automatically?
    The server is a dedicated server that is provided by a hosting company, so I would be doing it through Remote Desktop. Can it be done that way?

Hi,
You can convert the drive into a dynamic disk within both local logon session and remote desktop session. The system requires reboot twice to make the conversion take into effect. You do not have to partition the second drive.
