Windows 64bit driver - why the silence?

I'm so dissapointed... My girlfriend gave me a gorgeous new ipod touch for Christmas and guess what, no 64 bit drivers. It's not like Windsows 64bit is a new operating system, it's been around for over 2 years! Why should I downgrade and have to buy a 32bit operating system?
To be honest I'm now furious with Apple. I've called them and when you ask when support will be given they 'don't know'! From what I can read this has been going on for 6 months. What do you have to do to get a straight answer from them? Why don't they issue a staement?
I see that they've been hurridly updating product compatability information online to apease the situation and balme it on itunes but itunes isn't the problem - i works fine. From what I can tell, it's that they never released a 64bit driver for the ipod touch or iphone. There's no mention of the lack of compatibility on the packaging or web shops, aren't there something about trade desciption laws? But Apple probably know that they won't have a massive returns problem as we all want iphones and ipod touches so much that we'll wait or find workarounds which is what I'm now spendning my holiday doing. It's a disgrace.

Hi James,
and welcome to Apple Discussions! I suggest that you use http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipodtouch.html to report feedback to Apple. These forae here are for questions about usage of products - which you doesn't seem to have - and for other users - not Apple - answering your questions.

P.S.: There are no DOS drivers, no AIX drivers, no HP/UX drivers as well, all of them being on the market as operating systems since more than 10 years... dang - logic is not always easy

  • Where can I download a Windows 7 64bit driver for the hp CDDVDW TS-L633N on my cpq60-615DX

    EDIT --
I neglected to say that I tried updating the driver from the Device Manager device window and the result was a message saying it could not find a newer driver, that the one installed was correct.
    Another EDIT
I also did not say that I  have uninstalled the device, through Device Manager. Upon restarting the system, the drive was found and software installed but the problem remains.
    Original message follows:

In the process of installing some Roxio software, Creator 9, an unusable driver, are part of one, was installed. Now the device is not working.

It appears that the Creator install installed part of the driver but not one that functions. It might be a problem with Windows 7 or the fact that this install is 64 bits.
I have searched the HP site and can't find a driver for the device. When I look at the list of drivers available for this system, the optical drive is not shown.
I downloaded and installed the HP driver search program - or whatever it is called - and ran it. There were no devices listed on "Optical Drive" tab when I looked at the results - it could not "see" the drive.
I realize that what I need is probably a generic driver from MS, that's why one is not shown on the HP site, but how do I go about finding the right one for this device?
Is there a generic "one size fits all" driver for Windows 7 which can drive this device?
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

  • When do you anticipate having a driver or driver library available for developing a Windows CE driver for the NI-4050

We would like to develop an application for the Oil/Gas market utilizing the NI-4050 in Compaq IPAQ devices running Windows CE.

NI does have C source code available to program the NI-4050 using register level programming (RLP) in Windows CE. If you are a proficient C programmer and have some experience doing RLP and/or driver level development, you can use this code to access and program the 4050 in Windows CE. Contact your local NI sales person to receive a copy of this code.

  • Is there a Windows 7 driver for the XMod?

I have searched all the boards but can't find anything. I did see some complaints on Amazon about it not working on Windows 7. It is still being sold, so you would think there would be a new driver.

I just bought Xmod through Amazon from Shoptronics. ?Although all my music files are on hard dri'ves connected to a XP PC, ?I just purchased (not deli'vered yet) a new PC from Amazon that runs Windows 7. ?I just received an answer about Windows 7directly from Customer Support, they state if it isn't on the list at:?http://support.creative.com/KB/showa...px?sid=605&h=3?then no support for Window 7 is planned. ?I do have a Laptop running Windows 7, and I'm about to disconnect and plug it in shortly. ?I will update this post with my results.
    Update:
After unpluging Xmod from its USB port, I took transmitter to my Laptop that runs Windows 7. ?After plugging it in, and adding it via Control Panel hardware, it quickly was recognized by Windows. ?I powered it and receiver on, and it worked fine through Media Player and my stereo system. ?Still not quite as clear as my CD player, but satisfactory. ?May be having it installed first using the XP device add process allowed it to work on Windows 7 so easilyI'll be OK with it when the XP machine is retired, and my external hard dri've is used with my new Windows 7 PC. ?Does this help at all?

  • Why the Silence from Apple ?

Just out of interest (or even dis-interest), why do you think Apple are keeping quiet over these issues ?
Or is it that previous Mac users have only experienced silent products in the past and are not used to the sounds ?
My old Dell laptop used to sound like an aircraft when cooling the full blown Pentium 4 and it didnt bother me one iota !!

Or is it that previous Mac users have only experienced silent products in the past and are not used to the sounds ?
On the contrary. I bought for my wife a first generation iMac G5 that sounds like an F16 with afterburners from the moment it wakes.
I took it to the AppleStore a week before the warranty expired and the genius did something to it right there that kept it quiet just the time enough for the warranty to expire...

  • Formatted Windows 8 drive from the Vista dual boot, now unable to load any O/S

I have a Vista laptop and I installed Windows 8 trial version on a different partition. Later I wanted to reinstall windows 8 so foolishly I formatted the windows 8 partition when I was logged in from Vista. Now when I start my laptop the Windows 8 screen
pops up and attempting to repair. It goes on for hours.
I dont have a Windows 8 disk, I download the trial ISO and installed it. Now I tried to run my laptop's vista recovery bu it doesnt seem to work. Usually it goes to factory setting when I press ALT + F10 at the bootscreen. (I have a acer which came with
Vista). (The recovery stuff are in a different partition which was unharmed.)
I don't know how to recover my laptop. Please help. Is there a way to make the laptop load vista instead of trying to recover Windows 8? My Vista partition is perfect. Please help.

    Pranav
You cannot use a win 8 trial to repair a vista partition.  If you dont have a win 8 disk how did you install it?
Win 8 installs a hidden "boot" folder.
If you have or can find a vista dvd you can delete win 8 and install vista but it has to be OEM version of vista since it came with the computer.
There is a convoluted method using BCD to change the boot order but some foreknowledge of BCD and the computer is necessary.
Since there is no longer support for vista this may be a good time to update to win 8 but you would have to purchase a license
Here is a primer on BCD http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/ht/rebuild-bcd-store-windows.htm

  • Mac installers With Many Drives - Why the Wait?

    Hi,
I don't know if this is the right category, I apologize if it's not, but couldnt find anything on this topic.
Something about Mac that really bugs me is that when you have many drives, external drives and partitions like I do, software installers hang for ages on the "Select A Destination" screen while it mysteriously scans these drives, all of which are assigned a yellow "!" sign and you're not allowed to install to anyway! Completely pointless.
So I'm wondering: is there any way to tell OS X to ignore these other drives during software installations?

Are these all off PCIe SATA? or are some of them USB and FireWire?
Apple primarily or 3rd party or any and all?
Have you run Disk Warrior against all your volumes?
I've seen it of course, but never seen it take that much longer, all the drives are either FW800 or PCIe.

  • Acrobat Pro installed on a Windows 2003 32bit server - where's the 64bit driver?

    Hello.
I'm still newbie with Acrobat Pro so please bear with me if this is a silly question.
A prospect of ours installed the TRIAL version of Acrobat Pro Extended on a 32bit Windows 2003 server and everything went fine; this server "serves" a number of Windows 7 64bit boxes which are supposed to share the PDF Printer created on the Win2003 server during the installation.
Problem is that when the printer gets shared and clients try to install it, the 64bit driver could not be found.
The customer tried to install the 64bit driver on the Win2003 box but he does not know where to find the correct .INF file for 64bit windows client.
    Thanks,
    Rob

Two facts for consideration. As I understand it the trail only comes in 64-bit. Don't know for sure since I have never downloaded it, but that is a faint memory.
More importantly, read the EULA carefully before you purchase for the type of application you listed. The general EULA does not allow the use of Acrobat on a server in the manner you have indicated. You have to purchase Acrobat for each machine, not a  server. You may have enough that need to use the product that a volume license is in order -- contact Adobe for that. In the meantime, use the Acrobat Trail to test the features and such to be sure it meets your needs (other than the server use).

  • Is there a driver for the PXI-8310 that works with Windows 7?

The only one I can seem to find is for XP.

    Hello LouisTI,
Unfortunately there is not a Windows 7 driver for the PXI-Cardbus8310, as this is a legacy device which is currently going EOL (End of Life). The XP driver for the 8310 (which you may already have found) can be downloaded here:
    http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/370/lang/en
If using Win 7 is critical, we recommend the PXI-ExpressCard 8360 as a replacement for the 8310:

  • Trying to run a batch file in ODI and the file is on a windows network drive.

    Hi,
I'm trying to run a batch file that is located on a windows shared drive for the ODI server. When I try to run the file through OS command by giving the file path in the "command line". I get the error "
    ODI-1226: Step fails after 1 attempt(s).
ODI-1242: Operating system command execution fails."
Please let me know if this can be done.

    Hi,
First try to execute your batch file, if it is executing as expected.
Then use OdiOSCommand tool and give full path of script and also give a path to create error file & out file.
Execute the batch now via OdiOSCommand, if it fails then you will receive error message in Error file.
Also check if you have rights to script being executed via ODI.
    Thanks,
    DK
