Windows 7 64-bit and CS5

I wrote a script a few years ago that lays out photos on multiple pages in a specialized grid pattern for a classifieds magazine. The script will run normally for about half of the first page and then ID CS5 quits.
I translated a few of the features from CS2 into CS5 when we upgraded and the script functions completely normally on OSX 10.6.4 but when I run it in Windows 7 64-bit it fails. I've replicated the behavior on multiple machines.
When I look at Windows Task Manager and watch the memory usage while the script is running everything seems normal until it reaches about 100MB of used memory, then script execution pauses and the memory usage spikes to over 1GB and ID CS5 quits.
I've tried
1) Running ID CS5 with Administrator Priveleges
2) Running ID CS5 in Compatibility Mode for Windows XP SP3
3) Running ID CS5 in a Windows XP SP3 Virtual Machine
Has anyone else experienced this issue with long running or memory intensive scripts?

That's because you started the 32bit version of Photoshop. On 64bit operating systems both a 32 and a 64bit version is installed by default so if you want to use all your ram then make sure that you run the one from the Program Files and not from Program Files (x86)

  • DAC 10.1.3.4.1 Server on Windows (64 bit) and Linux x86 (64 bit)?

    Hi Friends,
    Please confirm wheteher Oracle Business Intelligence Data Warehouse Administration Console 10.1.3.4.1 Server is supported on
    Windows (64 bit) and Linux x86 (64 bit)
    Because from edelivery.oracle.com i could see the downloads only for windows and Linux and not specified as 32/64 - bit
    so will it mean that the same dump is used for both 32 and 64 bit
    1) Oracle Business Intelligence Data Warehouse Administration Console 10.1.3.4.1 for Microsoft Windows (V16377-01)
    can the above dump is used for both 32 and 64 bit windows?
    2) Oracle Business Intelligence Data Warehouse Administration Console 10.1.3.4.1 for Linux x86 (V16378-01)
    can the above dump is used for both 32 and 64 bit Linux?
    The reason is because for OBIA 7.9.6.3 configuration both the Informatica Power Centre and DAC Server should co-exist
    and i could see seperate installer for 32 and 64 bit for both Windows and Linux whereas i couldn't see it for DAC Server
    Please confirm .
    Regards,
    DB

    It is supported on both platforms. With Linux however, if you have any issues you can to install in a windows environment, then copy over the folder structure. Also, you can possibly run into issues running the setup.exe on 64bit windows. When you open the install directory, go to dac/disk1/install and run the executable for win32. win64bit can return an error where it says it cannot create certain temp directories. It is a known java bug you can find in the support website.

  • PI 7.0/7.1 Installation on Windows 64-bit and MaxDB

    Hi Folks,
    We have an installed PI in one server on Windows 2003 using Oracle DB (licensed).
    We wish to install PI in another server on Windows 2003 64-bit but this time it will be MaxDB.
    I've tried searching and found SAP NetWeaver Process Integration 7.1 on Windows_Oracle.pdf.
    Any advise please on how to go about installing PI 7.0/7.1 on Windows 64-bit:MaxDB.  Thank you!
    Regards,
    Lex

    Hi Lex,
    you cannot use the SAP DB (=old name of SAP MaxDB) package you found on the old SAP DB site for your PI installation for various reasons:
    a) SAP DB version 7.4 is VERY old, it is no longer supported since the end of 2006 !
    b) typically, a SAP application and its DBMS are installed using SAPinst
    Try checking the SAP Software Distribution Center (incl. PAM: Product Availability Matrix) on the SAP Support Portal. You can also get the correct software there (when you're an official SAP customer).

    Roland

    Hi,
    You must uninstall 32 bit version before you can install 64 bit version. Your machine MUST run 64 bit Operating system. Please also consider this:

  • Windows 32 bit and solaris 64 bit

    i am configuring a rman repository database in win2k server(oracle 9i 32 bit).The target
    database is on solaris 9(64 bit).Wheter is there any conflict or problems between these 32
    bit(rman repository) and 64 bit(Target database).

    Don't worry about this. The repository database holds only metadata about the target database, but no real data (from the target) itself.

    From that site, you need to click on a link and answer the questions on the next page. Click 'I agree' and, on the following page, you select the download you need.
    If that doesn;t work, you may need to review user settings, security, and knowledge base for your browser.

  • Twain, 64 bit and CS5

    I just took a look at the Twain site and from what I've found, 64 bit twain now exists. When will Photoshop have support?
    I've seen the argument to just use 32 bit, but that is a bad answer. My scanner is capable of huge file sizes from scans of medium format negatives and the need should be obvious. Will Adobe ever have support for Twain in 64 bit to advantage the software for multiple scans at one time using Epson's software? As old as 64 bit is, I'm amazed any company is not on top of this. Last I asked, Epson seemed to blame Adobe, who blamed Twain.org and so on. Seems as though the Twain Driver is now available to developers or are they wrong at Twain.org?
    Epson Scanners are the best, Photoshop is the best; seems you folks could get your heads together on this. I don't see any software with WIA support coming out of Epson nor do I see any progress from Adobe regarding this. There are huge advantages in time and workflow to be gotten here. Pro level software and equiptment should not be ignoring the fact you can't even find a 32 bit machine anymore, nor is their any reason to own a dinosaur.

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}

    One has to wonder about that.  Why not?  They may just believe that the Adobe 32 bit solution is good enough for now.
    Adobe is the 800 lb gorilla in this game, and I wouldn't be too surprised if they decided CS6 will be 64 bit only (I have no knowledge of their direction; this is pure speculation).  I suspect, facing a complete inability to sell into the Photoshop market without a 64 bit solution, Epson would suddenly, miraculously rise to the occasion.
    When there is an available path for compatibility, it's easy for managers to choose not to spend money on development.  Impending disaster is the only way to get some of them to move.
    And could it be that Adobe feels scanners are old tech?  That digital cameras are the real future of image acquisition and scanners will simply be sidelined?
    Personally, I have had a number of scanners (more than I should have had because they were obsoleted by new OS releases and no drivers were released for them), but I don't have one now and haven't for about 2 years.  I no longer feel the need myself.

  • Odd incompatibility between 10g2 for windows 32-bit and Linux 64-bit

    Hi.
    When we run the following SQL under windows, it works as expected.
    drop table TRANS;
    drop table TRANS_PAT_LEVEL;
    drop table TRANS_DAY_LEVEL;
    create table TEST1.TRANS (ID NUMBER(22), QTYDISPENSED NUMBER(22), TRANSACTIONDATEDIFF NUMBER(22),FMYPRODUCT NUMBER(22));
    create table TEST1.TRANS_PAT_LEVEL (ID NUMBER(22), FMYPRODUCT NUMBER(22), LASTMYPRODUCTUSE NUMBER(22),ELIGIBLERET NUMBER(22));
    create table TEST1.TRANS_DAY_LEVEL (DAYID NUMBER(22) not null, UNITS NUMBER(22));
    UPDATE TRANS_DAY_LEVEL SET UNITS =((SELECT SUM(QTYDISPENSED) FROM (SELECT T.QTYDISPENSED, T.TRANSACTIONDATEDIFF DIFF FROM TRANS T, TRANS_PAT_LEVEL TPL WHERE T.FMYPRODUCT=1 AND T.ID = TPL.ID AND TPL.ELIGIBLERET = 1 AND LASTMYPRODUCTUSE>=DAYID ) WHERE DIFF = TRANS_DAY_LEVEL.DAYID)) WHERE DAYID>=0 AND DAYID<=365;
    But when we run it under Linux (Redhat 4.3 x86_64) , we see the following error with the last command:
    SQL> UPDATE TRANS_DAY_LEVEL SET UNITS =((SELECT SUM(QTYDISPENSED) FROM (SELECT T.QTYDISPENSED, T.TRANSACTIONDATEDIFF DIFF FROM TRANS T, TRANS_PAT_LEVEL TPL WHERE T.FMYPRODUCT=1 AND T.ID = TPL.ID AND TPL.ELIGIBLERET = 1 AND LASTMYPRODUCTUSE>=DAYID ) WHERE DIFF = TRANS_DAY_LEVEL.DAYID)) WHERE DAYID>=0 AND DAYID<=365
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00904: "DAYID": invalid identifier
    We have also seen an incompatibility regarding case sensitive column names being created by the JDBC under linux, where under windows the same tables all have case-insensitive column names.
    Any help here?

    Hi,
    exception is expected behavior since inline views [can not be correlated|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=3403285&#3403285] in Oracle (yet). Successful execution of such query means a bug in that Oracle release.

    I use Xenofex2
    KPT3
    KPT6

    Eye Candy 3.1
    Andromeda 3D deluxe
    Flo's Undistort

    Hello
    Thanks for the reply.
    It seems that I will need to spend £110 ($165) to find out. That would go a little way to buying a Canon MPE 65 Macro lens.
    Very likely I will say where I am. Windows XP Pro SP2 is good enough.

  • Windows 7 64-bit and 4gb ram on S10-3T

    Can I upgrade my S10-3T to Windows 64-bit and install a 4gb stick of ram? I found a couple of sticks with matching specs on amazon.
    Also will the processor bottleneck the 4gb ram/ is it even worth it?
    I have the N470 BTW

    It means windows 7 64 bit won't work with S10-3T, same with the 4G RAM since its maximum is only 2GB

    Hello
    When you compile your application, you must use x86 type as target CPU. reason: B1 and SDK components are running in 32 bit mode under x64 machines. x64 application cannot communicate x86 applications in .COM components. Your addon is compiled to x64, and the DI API is x86 compiled.
    This is the reason why you receice error message,
    Also nice, if you give the directirve Win32 = True to the compiler when you build you appliaction.
