Windows 7 64-bit and the 27" iMac (NOT the black screen issue)

I'm trying to install Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate on a brand new 27" Core 2 Duo iMac. So far, I've been met with miserable failure. So far, installation starts without an issue, and gets to the point where "Expanding Windows files" is in bold text. It sits at 0% for approximately 10 minutes, then gives me an error saying that files could not be copied from the disc. (The error code is 0x80070017) The installer then quits and asks me to restart.
I've used two different copies of this disc (Bought at best buy, not downloaded or pirated) with the same result. Am I missing some crucial step, is there an issue with this model iMac, or is there an issue with my particular iMac?

Yeah, I'm using Boot Camp assisstant. I've got the 1TB drive split into 750GB for OS X, and 250GB (Reads as 232 in Win7) for Win7.

I've recently found out that Backup & Restore is not supported by Vista 64-bit.  So, all the backups that did not complete and  has the error message (0x8007002), all the backups are of no use.  All of my documents, pictures, music, original

  • I have bought a new laptop and the the system is windows 7 64 bit and the software wont install

I cant install the ipod software on my new laptop message that appears is this software will not install on 64 bit systems

It will clear the phone. You need to restore the backup you made of your important files from the old computer (surely no one in the third millennium who uses a computer does not back it up regularly).
You can recover iTunes-purchased music, videos and apps from the phone, but not music from other sources. Connect the phone, do not sync, and choose "Transfer Purchases" from the File menu.
Photos in the Camera Roll can be transferred buy using the Camera Wizard on your computer.
Contacts and Calendar can be synced with apps on your computer; just make sure there is at least one entry in each app on the computer before syncing.
You are out of luck if you have photos in the Photo app on the phone; there are apps for your computer that can extract them, but they will be lower resolution than originals because they have been optimized for the iPhone's resolution.

  • IMac G3 CRT Black Screen Issue

I recently got a 400 Mhz iMac G3 from a friend who wanted to get rid of it. It has one problem: for some reason the CRT will not display anything. Immediately when I push the power button on, the monitor sounds like it has been turned on, sometimes even flickers at the edges, but just doesn't display anything. The VGA output on the back of the Mac works fine, it has the most recent firmware (4.1.9), the power button doesn't flash, nothing. Everything seems to be working fine except for the monitor. To me it sounds like a video connection is loose or somehow disconnected, but I don't want to have to mess around inside of it if there's an easier solution. Thanks in advance.

Hi! Same info is required about type of computer you have as I listed in the post you replied to.
At first, your problem sounds like the firmware was not updated to 'iMac Firmware Update 4.1.9' before you upgraded from OS9 to OS10 - and there is one possible solution I've read of that worked with an imac 233 MHz - in that you've got to take out the logic board and use a different computer and/or screen 'set-up' to install the firmware update on that logic board, and then put it back into the original machine it came from and start it up while you cross your fingers!!! - and hope the screen comes alive again. tricky stuff that may not work.
However that may not be your specific problem - it may be the hard drive gone or something else (we hope).
When you reset the PRAM did you allow for the 2 separate chimes to sound before restarting your machine? That's really academic if the firmware is the problem - but I thought I'd ask.
So tell us what sort of iMac it is - place it upside down on a soft cloth and on it's neat little bottom it should have a description - like say,
    - IMAC 600/GR/256/40/CDRW/ULTRA/56K/FW/VGA -
or just tell us if it's slot loading or tray loading, what colour, and anything else about it's model that you already knew - speed e.g. 400MHz - does it burn Cd's or jsut read them - stuff like that.
    thanks

  • The Windows 7 Black Screen Issue

I am putting in Bootcamp with a Windows 7 install. I checked these forums and made sure I had all my prep work done.
I referenced article TS3173 and downloaded the neccessary drivers for 7, formatted a 16GB SD Card as FAT Bootable and copied the drivers and autounattend.xml files onto the root of the drive.
THe installation as going as planned but at the end I'm still ending up with a black screen. Windows is installed ok but on the restart after" Preparing for FIrst Use" comes up the screen goes black.
Obviously, the drivers are not being installed from the SD card, I tried it on a USB External driver as well. Am I missing something here? I read every post I could find on it and I can't see where I am doing anything incorrectly.
    Thanks
    Tom

You don't need Paragon or another NTFS driver. That may work (I've used it, but I was using a full hard drive anyway to begin with).
    Apple's method:

*My iMac (27-inch, Late 2009) displays a black screen during installation of Microsoft Windows 7 using the Boot Camp Assistant. How do I fix it?*
The Windows 7 installer does not include required graphics or Bluetooth drivers for this computer. To obtain the necessary drivers and resolve the issue, see this article (creating the SD card and drivers for the "black screen" issue).

  • My MacBook Pro will not start up.  I only get a grey screen with the spinning wheel.  No blue page appears and the grey screen remains.  Tried starting with the Shift key but ineffective as well.

Can't get my MacBook Pro to start up.  Have shut it down several times and tried restarting but all I get is a grey screen with the spinning icon.  Apple Support online suggested starting with power button followed immediately with the shift key.  Same results.  Also tried power button with shift key, command, and V.  Black screen appeared instead with lots of data language but still no starting.  This final page was suppose to result in an internal system check and restart but nothing happened and the black screen remains.Where do I go from here?  Scheduled for the Genius Bar tomorrow but would like to resolve this beforehand.

You may be having a hardware problem that you cannot resolve on your own. Nevertheless...
...hold down the command and R keys whilst booting to try to get to your Recovery partition. If you can, use Disk Utility to try to Verify your boot drive (usually named "Macintosh HD" unless you've renamed it). If the verification fails, try to repair your hard drive. If everything appears to be OK, restart.
If you can't get into your Recovery partition, your problem is likely hardware related. If so, keep your appointment and see what the Apple techs have to say.

    What should I do?

The first thing you should do is re-write your post to make it a bit more understandable. I got you have an Epson printer connected to your PC, however after that  your post doesn't make any sense. Are you attempting to print from your iMac, if so then you need to download and install Bonjour for Windows on your Windows machine. Then set Windows so it has printer sharing turned on and then on the iMac simply follow Apple's instructions for adding a printer.

  • TS4123 This is not correct solution. I have fresh copy of Windows 7 64 bit and I have the same problem.  Autorun only shows the Bonjour service.  It started when try to sync more than one iphone.

This is not correct solution. I have fresh/new copy of Windows 7 64 bit and I have the same problem.
Autorun only shows the Apple Bonjour service.  It started when try to sync more than one iphone over WiFi. I have two iphones and an iPad. I turned off syncing over WiFi and still has high CPU utilization. One of the CPU's is pegged at 100%.  It is the AppleMobileDeviceService.exe process.

For the record, I then followed the suggestion of MarcDCMB in https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4291206 of just manually restarting the Apple Mobile Device service in Windows services.msc once each time after starting iTunes and the service no longer hogs CPU after that service restart.  Not too painful as a work-around, and apparently an effective one, but clearly not a solution to the problem.  Again, as above, all the other solutions didn't work for me and I have no conflicting software as far as I can tell. So you'd have to say this Apple's problem.
Also FTR, I am still on the 5.2.0.6 version of the Apple Mobile Device Support MSI and I don't know if that is relevant to this work-around working but my sense is that it is NOT relevant.  I'll report back on this thread if I re-upgrade and the problem returns in spite of the service-restart approach.
