Windows 7 64 bit COMHookDll.dll crash

Hi
I am trying to run itunes 9.1.1. Each time I start it, the itunes *32 process runs for a few (5ish) seconds and then quits with this in the windows application event log:
Faulting application name: iTunes.exe, version: 9.1.1.12, time stamp: 0x4bd8abf9
Faulting module name: COMHookDll.dll, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x46e5f73e
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x00002ee1
Faulting process id: 0x1e8c
Faulting application start time: 0x01caf3503b91b74e
Faulting application path: E:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\iTunes.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system\COMHookDll.dll
Report Id: 7995c1ef-5f43-11df-9341-00261868399e
So far I have tried:
- Running itunes on a different user account (doesn't work)
- Removing itunes plugins (doesn't work)
- Running itunes on a new user account (works)
- Removing itunes library and preferences files (doesn't work)
- Reinstalling itunes (doesn't work)
I am out of ideas on how to get it to work, any help much appreciated.

COMHookDll.dll
I think that might be associated with a soundcard, although the research I've done isn't conclusive. By any chance, do you have an ASUS soundcard of some description in that PC?

I tried clearing the %appdata% and %temp% data and reinstalling the program. Nothing seems to be working.System details:i74700HQ8 GB RAM1 TB HDD, 250 GB Samsung SSDNVIDIA 850M Any help would be much welcome. Here is the crash log from dxdiag:Windows Error Reporting:

    Thank you.
    Going through the suggestions:
    * custom/3rd party JNI components: while the jvm args indicate a use of such components, there is actually none being used in this instance.
    * overcommit: I'm not sure whether windows has any tunables for this, but from the memory information in the hs_err file I think this is not a problem here. The JVM has Xmx1500 + Xmn128 + permsize of 128, even with generous margins this should fit well into the 4G still available physical memory on the server.
    * OS support: I'd believe that Windows 2008 SP1 is supported :)
    * OS updates: I will check with the customer whether all updates are applied, and also whether an update of the OS itself is possible.
    * hotspot/gc tuning: there are various tuning options applied, which have been determined by testing the application itself (load, functional, endurance tests), and have been found to work stable
There is one bug we're are aware of in 6u21 which affects the application (http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6938026), but without being able to decode the jvm.dll+0x1291fb address I cannot say for sure that this is the same bug.

  • Open Procedure for service "BITS" in DLL "C:\Windows\system32\bitsperf.dll" failed

This error is occurring on my Windows Server 2008R2 server with SQL 2008R2 installed.  I have found lots of "help" but none of it works...
The Open Procedure for service "BITS" in DLL "C:\Windows\system32\bitsperf.dll" failed. Performance data for this service will not be available. The first four bytes (DWORD) of the Data section contains the error code.
    The "help" I have found...
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc774913(WS.10).aspx
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/300956

I was able to re-install BITS.  The BITS error seems to have gone away, but this error is now showing...
The object length of an object returned by Extensible Counter DLL "C:\Windows\system32\wbem\wmiaprpl.dll" for the "WmiApRpl" service was not correct. The sum of the object lengths returned did not match the size of the buffer returned.  The performance

  • Office 365 crashing on C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\D3D10Warp.dll

    Hello experts,
I am having problem with one of our office laptop. The user has an office 365 installed on windows 8.1 pro 64bit. Recently the user is unable to run any of the office 365 any longer . When I looked at the Application log the following had come up :
Faulting application name: WINWORD.EXE, version: 15.0.4641.1000, time stamp: 0x53c5c244
Faulting module name: D3D10Warp.dll, version: 6.3.9600.17211, time stamp: 0x539be18f
    Exception code: 0xc0000005
    Fault offset: 0x0006ec1f
    Faulting process id: 0x1ca0
    Faulting application start time: 0x01cfe1c4934fbe00
    Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\Root\Office15\WINWORD.EXE
    Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\D3D10Warp.dll
    Report Id: d2c96856-4db7-11e4-830a-fcf8ae64a9eb
    Faulting package full name:
    Faulting package-relative application ID:
The faulting error message appears on all the 365 component. And when I check the most recent windows update the following was installed prior was installed :
    KB
    2998527
    2990967
    2989647
    2975719
Has anyone got any ideas if any of the KB above may cause the issue or anyone knows of any problem with the D3D10Warp.dll.
    Other troubleshooting steps done :
    1) Uninstall office 365 using the fix proposed by MS - when trying to run the installer the error message come sup but it continues to install office to completion at the background
    2) Running office 365 on win 8 safe boot  - same problem
Short of wiping and re-installing windows which I am trying to avoid, does anyone can offer any suggestion?
    Thanks in advance.

I ran the the Office Config  Analyzer
the only warning I get is the add-in being disabled due to performance and stability. The following were addtional add-in added
    1) ProAid Writing (which has been uninstalled)
    2) endnote (also has been uninstalled)
Still same issue after the add-in are removed.
Answering to your earlier questions :
    1) uninstalled and reinstalled Office 365 on the computer - YES several time
    2) complete
error message that came up when you run the installer  - just a window saying something like ".. has stopped working" and I press the cancel button. The install continued at the background.
    3) any
changes to the computer recently - only the regular updates from MS as listed above.
    4) Online
Repair of Office 365  - also done but same error message and quits.
Since app log report the faulting at
    C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\D3D10Warp.dll
is there a way to find out the version of this and what's the latest version or maybe reinstall the version before, this possibly came through via the updates??

  • Bib.dll crashing PS 5.1

    Hey everyone,
I've come across what I strongly suspect is a weird font issue that's preventing me from working. Until today, PS has never acted up before. I'm running 64-bit Photoshop, v12.1. My work .psd was based on a toolkit .psd off the web - I was missing a font, and I substituted it with my own (one version of Helvetica Neue for another). But the moment I tried to edit the text, PS crashed on me. I reopened, worked on it for a couple more hours, when it crashed again doing the same action. After that I could not open either my own working file, nor the toolkit file.
    The crash log says this:
    Problem signature:
      Problem Event Name:    APPCRASH
      Application Name:    Photoshop.exe
      Application Version:    12.1.0.0

When I came across similar font issues like this one in AE I'd just deinstall the suspect fonts and things are good to go again. However even with my Helvetica removed the .psd files fail to open. I've had a coworker open the psd files on his computer with no issues (same machine and sofware specs), and I've also tried to have him change all the type to a default font and saving it as another file name, but even then I cannot open the file. I then began to suspect something was wrong with my PS, so I did a reset of my preferences and blew away my user settings. When that didn't work, I also had PS reinstalled -- still no luck.
Any suggestions how to move forward with this? I don't care so much about losing my current work file, but if I'm unable to even open up my toolkit .psd then I can't do anything. Are there other file formats I can save these files as (does that even change anything)?

I just ran the script through, none of the fonts are corrupted. It seems like the issue began as a font problem, but now it's gone beyond that.
As for corrupt install, I had also tried reinstalling Photoshop. I trashed all my settings and tried opening up a new redownload of the toolkit .psd -- it appeared to be opening it but had the same bib.dll crash when it hit around 40%. I would ideally want this issue resolved without formatting my entire computer...

  • Ntdll.dll crash, exception 0xC0000005 After TestStand Deployment

I am trying to deploy a TestStand system, with custom test sequences, process model, some custom .dlls, and dynamic vi calls.
After finally getting the deployment to build, I can now successfully install on the deployment machine.
The deployment machine will successfully open my test sequence, and run my modified FrontEndCallbacks.seq.
I get stuck, when I try to run the actual test sequence!
When I do so, I get the error message telling me that ntdll.dll crashed. I don't know what this is, but I gather that is a Windows dll of some kind.
I am trying to figure out the cause.
Development machine: Win XP, 32-bit. TS 2010 SP1, LV 2011.
    Deployment machine: Win 7, 64-bit. TS 2010 SP1, LV 2011 RTE.
The AE assisting me in this suggested that I had a .NET issue, but version 4, which was suggested I install, is installed.
    Please help!

    Sure thing...
The interesting bit - this only happens if I try to run my test sequence with my modified process model. If i open a new sequence, and run it, this doesn't happen. I say this is interesting because, in either case, I am only pressing 'Test UUTs' - and this processes GUI info for the model, the test sequence isn't executed until I enter a SN and click go.

    Hi All,
Since implementing BOXI 4 SP2 Patch 11 I have noticed very frequent awt.dll crash error messages triggered by SAP JVM throughout the event log.

    Cheers,

    Hi All,
SAP Support finally came through for us on this.
The issue is due to the version of the SAP JVM that comes bundled with BOXI 4 SP2 Patches 11 and 12.
If you download the latest version of the SAP JVM from the SAP support portal and install this instead then the problems are resolved.
    Thanks,
    Gary

  • Windows\system32\QUARTZ.dll can't open in Windows.  Can't use Premiere Elements.

I am looking for a way to get a solution to this error which keeps preventing me from opening my Premiere Elements 11 program.  I have previously used the program without any problems.  But last week I had a new HDD installed in my laptop (Dell Studio XPS 1640 running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit).  Now I can't open Premiere Elements and can't edit my videos.
When I try to open the program, I get an error which reads:
Font Capture: Adobe Premiere Elements.exe - Bad Image
C:\Windows\system32\QUARTZ.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.  Try installing the program again using the original instalation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support
My computer technician did use an image of my laptop to transfer everything onto the new HDD.  I have no idea if that is relevant to this software problem.
I posted this question previously and was directed to a link which instructed me to update my DirectX and other graphics drivers.  I did all that already.  I still can't open Premiere Elements.  I want to ask Adobe Support, but since they just launched Premiere Elements 12, I guess I no longer get direct support from Adobe? Not sure but that is how it seems to work.  I will try any advice given to resolve this issue, if anyone has ideas.
    Thanks!
    Janeen

Did you try reinstalling as indicated by the error message?  Transferring images is not a good way to install Adobe programs.

If you are on a 64-bit system you should also install the x64 version http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13523
