Hello
Thanks for the reply.
It seems that I will need to spend £110 ($165) to find out. That would go a little way to buying a Canon MPE 65 Macro lens.
Very likely I will say where I am. Windows XP Pro SP2 is good enough.
Thanks

  • CS5 64bit: SilverEfex Pro 2 and Topaz Denoise

I'm in the middle of migrating from XP to Windows 7, 64-bit. Currently in the process of installing CS5, I noticed it offered both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions, so I installed them both. Anyone know if my SilverEfex Pro 2 and Topaz Denoise plugins (32-bit, I presume, since I've been running them under XP) will need the 32-bit version of CS5?

Hello, eswrite, according to this page: http://www.niksoftware.com/support/usa/entry.php?view=faqs/general_answers.shtml all NIK plug-ins are available in the 64 bits flavor.
The link to get it is there: Download

  • CS5 64bit on Win7 delaying and no good performance with Intous4.

    Hi.
I've got Win7 64bit with Photoshop 64bit as well 4GB RAM (1800MHz) , i ve got Intous 4 which works perfectly in GIMP, but unfortunaltely there is really lack of performance in Photoshop. Fast drawing is impossible, trying to draw a circle with one quick move results with more square than a circle. Amazingly GIMP works perfectly, so i can not say, that i move my pen too fast... I tried to change scratch disks from system to dedicated one and vice versa  (got 2 and one of them is  set for photoshop 7200RPM), tried to change set up with OpenGL settings (GTS 220 graphics with 1024DDR3) with no any result.
It is really weird that gimp works perfectly (it is rather 32bit) and something that should be so fast is a ... you know what;)
    Any ideas?
    Thanks for viewing:)

Nice to solve this by myself shortly. The solution for me was to set up OpenGL settings to BASIC.
Now i am home and drink a cup of cofee with Pablo Picasso

  • CS5 on Windows 7 64 bit and RAM

    Hi
Running CS5 on a Windows 7 64 bit system with 12gb RAM. CS5 says " only 3255 mb available". Why is this? Shouldn't I be able to use all of my RAM with the 64 bit versions?
need help asap please and it will be greatly appreciated
    thanks
    otto

That's because you started the 32bit version of Photoshop. On 64bit operating systems both a 32 and a 64bit version is installed by default so if you want to use all your ram then make sure that you run the one from the Program Files and not from Program Files (x86)

  • Windows 7 64-bit and CS5

I wrote a script a few years ago that lays out photos on multiple pages in a specialized grid pattern for a classifieds magazine. The script will run normally for about half of the first page and then ID CS5 quits.
I translated a few of the features from CS2 into CS5 when we upgraded and the script functions completely normally on OSX 10.6.4 but when I run it in Windows 7 64-bit it fails. I've replicated the behavior on multiple machines.
When I look at Windows Task Manager and watch the memory usage while the script is running everything seems normal until it reaches about 100MB of used memory, then script execution pauses and the memory usage spikes to over 1GB and ID CS5 quits.
    I've tried
    1) Running ID CS5 with Administrator Priveleges
    2) Running ID CS5 in Compatibility Mode for Windows XP SP3
    3) Running ID CS5 in a Windows XP SP3 Virtual Machine
Has anyone else experienced this issue with long running or memory intensive scripts?

That's because you started the 32bit version of Photoshop. On 64bit operating systems both a 32 and a 64bit version is installed by default so if you want to use all your ram then make sure that you run the one from the Program Files and not from Program Files (x86)

  • PhotoShop CS5 with Windows 7 64 bits and/or Windows 7 32 bits

    Hello
I just bought a new computer with an Intal QuadCore, 8 Gb of memory and Windows 7 - 64 bits edition
I plan to upgrade from a former Photoshop CS3 onWindows XP and it was a 32 bits edition
Is the Photoshop CS5 supported on BOTH Win 7 32 AND 64 bits ? Or are they different versions ?
I plan to either have a dual boot Win 7 32 Bits  -    Win 7  64 bits or separate hard disk on racks, so I'll still be able to use 32 bits softwazre that don't run on 64bits
But if PhotoShop CS5 comes in 2 versions, I need to decide which one I should buy
Thanks for any help you vcan provide
    have a good day
PS : Is the problem with PhotoShop CS5 running on AMD processors solved ?

Windows 7 x64 is a separate build from Windows 7 32 bit.  Windows 7 Ultimate comes with BOTH.
There isn't a separate package of Photoshop CS5 for 32 bit or 64 bit.  Photoshop (since CS4) installs both 32 bit and 64 bit software on a 64 bit Windows system, or only 32 bit software on a 32 bit Windows system.
Photoshop CS5 is fine with every variant of Windows 7.
Photoshop CS5 is reportedly fine with modern AMD processors, though I have only used Intel.
The detailed system requirements are here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/photoshop/systemreqs/
My own (personal, subjective) opinion is that ATI (AMD) video interfaces are better than nVidia.
    Hope this answers your questions.

  • Upgrading to cs5 (or cs6 in the future) windows xp 64 bit, is it possible?

    Hello,
    I own CS4 Design premium.
I am upgrading a machine to windows xp 64 bit, at the moment.
It was unclear from the system requirments page whether cs5 supports win XP 64 bit. It says it supports vista 64 bit and win 7 of course.
Meanwhile, if I reinstall cs4 - on a win xp 64 bit machine - will it work. Does the installer include a dvd for 64bit??
Will next versions of Creative suite include support for Win xp? Or will it be obsolete?
    Thanks
    Gidon
    http://www.koomkoom.com

XP 64 is totally unsupported for all version of Creative Suite. If you want to upgrade to 64 bit (and I highly recommend doing so, if you have a machine capable of it) then Windows 7 64 bit would be the way to go.
CS3 and later all run very nicely on it and you won't have to worry about support being cut off.

  • Contribute CS4 and CS5 file transfer (publish) problem on Windows 7 64 bit

Have a problem with Contribute CS5 and CS4  on Windows 7 64 bit where upon editing a webiste for example to add a new page (or edit an existing one) and then clicking on "publish" a blank page appears on the website. To explain this further, If i make the required changes to the page and select the option to publish the file later then the file wirtten to the PC appears to be ok and has all the changes, but as soon as I publish it, only a blank page appears on the web server.  ie the upload (ftp) process does happen but the content of the page is being stripped out somewhere during the filt transfer process.
I have editied the same site with CS4 on windows XP without any problems.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated
    Thank you
    Chris

I seem to have solved the issue by downloading this install file
    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.2/enu/AdbeRdr920_en_US.exe
    which installs successfully.

  • Is there a way to install just the 32 bit version of Photoshop CS5 on a Windows 7 64 bit machine?

I have a custom built Java 6 application that doesn't like Photoshop CS5 64 bit edition.  The program copies over a file from the network to the local machine and then opens it in Photoshop.  The user manipulates the image and saves the changes.  The user then completes the image and the application copies the image back to the server.  The problem we're having is: When we use Photoshop CS5 64-bit, it takes about 2 minutes for Photoshop to open the image.  The file is copied over within 2 seconds and the Photoshop icon on the windows taskbar starts flashing.  But then you spend a few minutes waiting for it to open.
Some things that I have tried to isolate the problem:
    - I found you can copy the file somewhere else, double click on it and the image will open in Photoshop before the script is able to open the file.
    - I tried uninstalling Photoshop and reinstalling just the 64 bit edition without the 32 bit installation.  The script just stops working in this situation.
    - I tried uninstalling CS5 and installing CS3.  The image opens as soon as the file is copied over.
What I would like to try next is to install just the CS5 32 bit version.  But the installer is being uncooperative and will only allow either the 64 bit version or both the 64 and 32 bit versions.  So, back to my question: Is there a way to install just the 32 bit version of Photoshop CS5 on a Windows 7 64 bit machine?

Do you mean schroot?  If so I'm not sure exactly how well that will work out, because the part that depends on python is a deamon that handles communication between the USB dongle and the Tux Droid which may mean hacking the deamon a bit so ether way this does not seem like it will be a easy task.

  • Problem reinstalling FB4 premium after installing CS5 MC on windows 7 64-bit

    Hello,
I was hoping that I could get some help with an issue -- I filed a technical request (ticket)  with Adobe but also wanted to reach out here.
    Background:
I installed FB4 Premium in March, and had no issues with the download or install -- everyhting had been working fine. Yesterday I installed CS5 MC and in the process of installing it over-wrote the debug versions of flash player that come in FB4 premium with standard flash player. Naturally, that won't work with FB4 so I needed to find a way to reinstall the debug version of flash player plug-in and active x. After trying unsuccessfully for while to do so, I decided it would just be easier to uninstall and reinstall the FB4 download which I still had on my machine, as this comes with the debug players I need. Big mistake. Now I can't get FB4 to reinstall. I am getting the following error messages while running the install set-up (see uploaded image of error message below). Any thoughts at all on how I can resolve this? I did try several reboots, new installs and even re-downlaoded FB4 again from the Adobe store. It appears the presecne of MC5 has caused this somehow?? I run windows 7 64-bit pro. By the way, I did figure out (too late) the way to reinstall the debug flash player -- I first needed to run a script to delete the existing flash player rather than just uninstall it; if anyone needs the script or help on that let me know.
hanks very much -- this has me stumped.
    Bob

    Hello Chris,
Thank you very much for this insight. It worked. Now I just have a few issues around getting a shortcut for FB4 on the desktop and fixing the FB4 app icon (which now shows up as blank). But it is running as FB4 premium -- Thank you so much!! I have also sent an email to the Adobe engineers working on this case.
I realized that my big mistake was thinking that I needed to reinstall FB4 premium standalone to get FB4 premium to work -- but this was not possible (due to how CS5 installer works) and not needed (because CS5 has all of the code needed to run FB4 premium). The answer (as you described) was simply to go abck to the CS5 installer let it install FB4. While CS5 would initially install FB4 as standard, the serial number "games" described here and in other posts would allow me to upgrade to to FB4 premium. It now works as FB4 premium!
    Thank you Chris,

  • Illustrator CS5 Error on Windows 7 64 bit, Uninstalled Illustrator CS5, Tried Re-Installing Illustrator CS5 on same pc new error

    Hi,
I have been using the Adobe Creative Suite CS5 for a few years and haven't had a problem.
Recently, illustrator just would not open would get to initializing illustrator.exe and stay there. I tried uninstalling illustrator in the hopes it would fix it with a reinstall.
I got the download file and when I tried to open in to reinstall, I get this error "The file archive part of Adobe Illustrator CS5 is missing. You need all parts in the same folder in order to extract Adobe Illustrator CS5. Please download all parts." I then tried to download the whole Creative Suite and same error message occurred. I am not sure what to do or if I should just uninstall the whole creative suite and start fresh (would rather not because I don't want to lose my preferences and presets).
    I am on Windows 7 64bit.
If anyone could help that would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Dave

Uninstalls do not affect user-defined prefs and other custom files, but of course it may be a good idea to back everything up. A reinstall may be the only way to fix this. The error occurs because something else has introduced a flaky entry in the installer database and it goes looking for some file from a source that no longer is available. run the cleaner tool and reinstall everything after you have secured your prefs.

  • Windows 7 64-bit and need to install both 32bit and 64bit Oracle 11g client

    Hello
First I am sorry for asking what is probably a common knowledge answer from most in the forum. I just cannot find a straight forward answer searching these forums or via google.
We have Windows 7 64-bit planned as our next desktop upgrade. We have several Oracle databases, and all of the client software in our environment is 32 bit.
I want to try and be ahead of the curve so I want to deploy the latest 64-bit 11g client instead of our current client (10g 32bit).
The simple question is this: Can we actually do that with our 32bit application suite or do I need to install the 32bit client for 32bit applications side-by-side with the 64bit 11g Oracle client for future 64-bit clients?
For a follow up to that, if I do, then does anyone have good instructions on that? I found one article on this but it seemed custom and made use of the mklink command, so I have my doubts this is correct.
    Thanks

Thanks for the tip. What I wonder though is should I do that or does the 64-bit client have a 32-bit layer that works with 32-bit applications or, am I forced to still deploy a 32-bit client because of my 32-bit software?
    Thanks

  • CS5 and CS5.5 64-bit (Flash, Illustrator, Fireworks) ALL Crash Out of Nowhere on Windows 7 64-bit

ATTENTION ADOBE! Your CS5 and CS55 products crash continuously on Windows 7 64-Bit. And I don't mean just when I'm saving (which they do) or when I'm importing into Flash Pro (which it does); I'm saying it just completely dissappears just as if I hadn't even opened it. No error message whatsoever. Oh, and of course, ALL WORK GONE since my last save; And I don't think that I should have to save every 5 seconds!
IS THERE A FIX FOR THIS?
    IF NOT...
PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE BECAUSE WE'VE SPENT A LOT OF MONEY ON YOUR PRODUCTS; AND NOW THEY'RE COSTING US EVEN MORE WITH POOR PRODUCTIVITY BECAUSE WE HAVE TO KEEP REDOING THINGS; NEVERMIND ALL OF THE FRUSTRATION IT IS CAUSING!!!
I thought that upgrading from CS5 to CS55 might help, but no, the problem is even worse.
FLASH, ILLUSTRATOR, and FIREWORKS ALL EXHIBIT THE SAME SYMPTOMS.

Sorry to bother you I just thought you might hit on something if other apps were not working.
Is everyone in your office having this issue with Flash, Fireworks or Illustrator crash? How many people?
Did you upgrade to 64-bit from 32-bit?
Are you using an approved OS for your hardware; i.e. Dell recommends using?
Have you scanned your memory to see if its bad?
Do you have your memory in the right slots in your motherboard?
What apps are you using when Flash, Fireworks or Illustrator crash? If you are running Photoshop, Premiere or After Affects you might have to adjust their memory useage.
When Flash, Fireworks or Illustrator crash is your system having issues?
Have you checked the event logs in Windows to see if there are any error or critical events logged at or around the time when  Flash, Fireworks or Illustrator crash?
Note you can also open a support ticket with Adobe on the issue and work that pretty far without paying $25 (which is not that much); if your business is losing money as you stated originally.

  • Trying to reinstall CS5.5 Master Collection from DVD media on Windows 7 64 bit - setup.exe fails due to msxml3.dll error PDApp message [FATAL] PIM - Failed to Create XML instance : DOMDocument40 ADXML::initWithXMLPath Error:80040154

If anyone is able to solve this they are a genius (or I am doing something very stupid!)
I am trying to reinstall CS5.5 Master Collection from DVD media on Windows 7 64 bit PC but setup.exe fails due to a msxml3.dll error.
Following a big bundle of recent Windows 7 updates, I started getting 'bad image' msxml3.dll error messages when opening any CS5.5 master collection program (Eg Premiere / Photoshop / Illustrator / Dreamweaver). Following advice on some threads here I tried uninstalling and then using the Adobe CC Cleaner Tool to clean up install, then reinstalling from my original DVD media.
Whenever I try using run setup.exe from installtion disc 1 the installing fails due to 'Missing files'. I have also tried dowloading trial versions and runing setup.exe fro mthe downloaded files but i still get the same message.
I have searched the forum and others have experienced this error but none of the solutions I have found seem to be working for me - as many seem to relate to download installations whereas I am installing from original DVD media (which worked fine before on the same PC)
These are the FATAL messages from the PDApp log
    12/11/2014 15:29:27 [FATAL] PIM - Failed to Create XML instance : DOMDocument40 ADXML::initWithXMLPath Error:80040154
12/11/2014 15:29:27 [FATAL] Setup - Could not initialize ADXML object
12/11/2014 15:29:27 [FATAL] Setup - Unable to initialize. Error parsing setup.xml file
The PDApp troubleshooting seems to indicate that this is caused by error in downloads but I am getting it with both original media DVD and downloads.
I have also tried using my logon (which has admin privileges) and under our main admin account - and I get the same errors.
Is a clean install of Windows 7 + CS5.5 my only option?
Any help / info / advice / solutions very much appreciated! I have spent the last 2 days trying to sort this out and seem to be getting nowhere.
    Thanks.

Thanks for the reply kglad - much appreciated.
I have already tried that option (along with downloading files) as it was one of the solutions mentioned on other threads, but that also failed.
    Any other ideas?
