Windows 7 64 Bit Frequent BSOD

I've been running Windows 7 for awhile now with no problems, but as of two days ago I've started getting frequent BSODs.  It doesn't seem to be giving me the same error every time though, I've gotten anything from System_service_exception to Memory_management to IRQL less or not equal errors.  I hadn't added any new hardware at the time or updated my drivers, so I'm beginning to question whether it's software or hardware related.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
I would like to suggest you update the BIOS and the hardware drivers for Windows 7 first.
If the issue persists, would you please send me more information for analyzing. For your convenience, I have created a workspace for you.  You can upload the information files to the following link.  (Please choose "Send Files to Microsoft")

WinDbg will tell you the possible cause.
If no clue can be found, you may contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support (CSS) via telephone so that a dedicated Support Professional can assist with your request. To troubleshoot this kind of kernel crash issue, we need to debug the crashed system dump. Unfortunately, debugging is beyond what we can do in the forum. Please be advised that contacting phone support will be a charged call.

  • Itunes + Windows 7 64 bit - very frequently hangs

Have latest update of Itunes installed (the one from the other day) - but all varients of 9 have been doing same thing for me
bascially randomly, sometimes on start of Itunes, sometimes 1 min in, and especially if downloading any Podcasts etc Itunes completely hangs, and hangs the whole computer/Windows - have to do a hard restart
if I set to "compatability mode XP SP3" - I don't get anywhere near as many hangs - in fact mostly is stable, but is slower, and I can't do drag and drop and all sorts of other things
unselect compatability mode and very very frequent crashes/hangs. Itunes hangs whether Ipod Touch is attached or not
no other program whatsoever on my computer completely hangs the OS
have performed complete reinstalls of Windows 7 in meantime, and always have the same problem
PC is a Q6600, an Asus P5B Deluxe mobo, 6 gig RAM, 4890 graphics
    any ideas please ?
    thanks, Mark.

I had tried some links I found on internet.
What worked finally was to disable all add-ons using Help --> Restart with add-ons Disabled. With this way I verified with all the add-ons disabled there was on performance problem (like my second machine with Windows 7 32 bit).
After that, I started to enable the add-ons starting from the more important for me. It still worked with no problem. I left disabled some non-important for me.
I am not sure whether the problem was from those that I left out or whether the whole process "corrected or reset" something. The result is the same. Firefox 4 in Win7 64 works like in Win7 32.

  • BSOD 0x00000124 for Windows 7 64 bit

Can anybody help me with this issue? I am unsure how to output the log to a dump file for further analysis.
    My computer info is:
       Processor: 2.30 GHz AMD Phenom 9600 Quad-Core
MB: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. GA-MA780G-UD3H
Video Cards: ATI Radeon HD 3200 onboard video, Radeon HD 4670
       OS: Windows 7 64 bit
I've been checked the hotfixes offered by Microsoft but there aren't any available for Windows 7 64 bit. I do not know if the hotfixes for Windows Vista 64 bit can be used to fix this problem or not.
I've tried updating my BIOS and then restoring my BIOS to its factory settings but neither seemed to work. I've installed drivers via windows update, from the gigabyte website, and from the ATI website trying to update to the latest drivers. I've used Ultimate
Boot CD to test my RAM and HDD, I've used Hot CPU Tester Pro 4 to test my CPU, I've tried using my PCI-E video card and my onboard video card (separately of course), but all these tests have not shown any errors or problems with the hardware devices. The only
ones that I haven't really tested are my PSU and MB (the sound card is onboard). I've even performed a clean installation of windows 7 64 bit (previously using Windows Vista 32 bit) but the problem still persists. I am not sure what else to test without just
    buying new hardware.
This error normally happens when I play a video game (like World of Warcraft) but lately when I try to install patches or games in general I seem to get the BSOD.
Can anyone help me please? Just let me know if you would need more information about my system or how I can get to my logs (the dump files) so I can provide more information.
    Thanks

You may boot in Clean Boot Mode as BSOD can be caused by programs that are running in kernel mode.
Perform a clean startup to determine whether background programs are interfering with your game or program
If the issue persists in Clean Boot Mode you can try to check the driver signature. To do so, in Start Search box enter sigverif.exe. Then click the start button in “File Signature Verification”. In the result list, please pick up *.sys files,
rename one of them and then shut down or restart to check if the issue still occurs. If the issue persists, rename another *.sys file listed in the result of driver signature verifying, and check result again. By doing so we can determine which un-singed driver
    is the root cause.
Another way is enable muni-dump and use Windbg. Please refer:
How to read the small memory dump files that Windows creates for debugging
You may paste the result in your next post for analyzing.
Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread. ”

  • T410 Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit Install BSOD

Hi, I am hoping someone can help me with resolving the issues I'm having trying to install Win7Pro 64-Bit
I recently upgraded the memory on my Lenovo T410 Thinkpad from 4GB to 8GB under Windows 7 32-Bit but as I later found out that there wasn't a reliable hack to allow me to use the extra RAM so I decided to move all my files off the machine and then do a clean install of Windows 7 32-Bit.
Unfortunately, I have had nothing but problems with the install, resulting in a BSOD every time. To give full details of what I have tried, see the list below:
Downloaded a version of Win7Pro 64-Bit and created a bootable USB using Microsoft's bootable USB creation software
Tried to boot and install the software
Downloaded another 2 different versions of Win7Pro 64-Bit for COA installs from the Microsoft website and created the bootable USB again with each of these and tried the installation again.
Used the Rufus software to create the bootabe USB drive (version rufus-1.4.9) and this gave the same results.
I also used the Novicorp WinToFlash 0.8.0009 software to create the bootable USB but this made no difference.
I have tried deleting the other partitions on the hard drive when given the option in the initial stages of the Win7 64-Bit setup but this made no difference.
I then created a UEFI bootable USB drive and tried this and this had the same issues
All in, I think I have tried the install about 10 times and have never managed to get anywhere with it.
    Results
The furthest I have got with this is that the laptop boots from the USB and begins the install. It copies the Windows installation files over and then begins to expand the files. After successfully expending the files, it crashes with the BSOD with no real information on what can be causing the issue.
On the penultimate installation attempt, the message that came up was a BSOD message saying "Ntfs.sys - Address FFFFF88001C....... etc"
On the last attempt, I got the message "Windows installation encountered an unexpected error. Very that the installation sources are accessible, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x0000005"
    What I have ruled out
The memory being an issue - this is because the machine seemed to work perfectly with the new memory modules in Win7 32-Bit and the issue only came up when running the 64-Bit versions
Win7 64-Bit ISOs being corrupt - because this would not occur on all ISO files but may occur on one... I have done a check on the MD5 of the downloaded files and they are all as they should be. An example of one is ed15956fe33c13642a6d2cb2c7aa9749    X17-59186.iso.
    Research I have done
I have looked in this forum and other sites and just cannot find a definitive answer on why I'm having the issue. I had seen something pointing to it possbly being due to me not using the UEFI boot option but trying this did not help.
I researched what the "Error code: 0x0000005" meant and found a page on microsoft support asking me to check hardware as the issue could be related to a hard drive problem. I am currently running the hard drive diagnostic program and it's a slow process.
Can anyone help me with this? I'm really stuck!

If I were you I would still run Memtest+ on that RAM, run it overnight and allow several passes.
Just to be 100% sure that the RAM isn't the culprit, (unless you already did that in which case my point would be moot)
    My 2 cents only...

  • Igdpmd64.sys BSOD on HP ProBook 4530s Windows 7 64-bit

I used my HP ProBook 4530s with Windows 7 64-bit and Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) installed since 2011 with no issues.
Recently I updated Windows to SP1 and IE10. All works well except one thing.
When I run IE10, open few tabs and hoover my mouse over IE10 icon so that it shows the half-transparent small windows my PC crashes.
It shows blue screen with PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA message caused by igdpmd64.sys driver.
    1) I found at HP forum the post "igdpmd64.sys BSOD on HP Envy14t".
I followed the recommendation to uninstall KB2670838.
However after rebooting PC the IE10 disappeared and IE8 came back to life.
I updated then Windows trying to block the KB2670838 installation but it was impossible since KB2670838 was not shown at the list but somehow "installed in the background".

  • ITunes 9.1 (64-bit) causing BSOD crashes with Windows 7

I installed iTunes 9.1 (64-bit) this evening and my computer running Windows 7 (64-bit) repeatedly experienced the blue screen of death (BSOD). The computer would restart in safe mode. Upon restart, the BSOD would occur again within a few minutes.
iTunes was successfully installed and was operable up until the blue screen.
I completed a system restore and my system is stable once again. However, certain iTunes files were removed and now iTunes will not function.
Does anyone have a link to an iTunes 9.0.3 for Windows 7 (64-bit)?
Has anyone experienced a similar problem and have a solution that allows 9.1 to work without crashing my machine?

    FF,
I had the exact same problem. I upgraded iTunes to 9.1 and it caused a BSOD. I booted into Windows Safe Mode (Hit F8 as soon as you see the Windows start up screen) and disabled the itunes services. Rebooted and the system is now working. I'm not sure what the deal is with the iTunes 9.1 but it definately breaks Windows 7.

  • BSOD Caused on Windows 7 64-bit while watching Netflix Instant in Firefox 4.0

Starting with the latest version of Firefox 4 - I'm getting BSoD's in Windows 7 64-bit SP1 while watching Netflix Instant. My system will crash with a DirectX DLL file being labelled as the culprit.

Disregard, it turns out to be an issue with the latest WHQL nVidia drivers, I rolled back to a previous version and the problem stopped. I only found this out after experiencing the same exact crash in IE9.

  • Windows 7 64 bit not monitoring on UCCX 7.0(2)

    Hi,
I upgraded a 7.0(1) system to 7.0(2) to get support for Windows 7 and CSD is still not able to monitor agent calls who are on Windows 7 64 bit OS versions. The 7.02 release notes document states WIndows 7 is supported and WoW64 but doesn't mention anything about any limitations that I can see. I've ran postinstall, etc and everything checks out.
In this document, it states Windows 7 / WOW64 suppoort for 7.0(2) but has note for 8-0 that montoring is not supported for WOW64 just for 8.0.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/voicesw/ps6789/ps7046/ps7282/product_bulletin_c25-563280_ps427_Products_Bulletin.html
So is there a special way to install CAD / CSD as WOW64 on Windows 7 64 bit, or is there something else going on preventing the monitoring not working for windows 7 agents?  The supervisors can monitor Windows XP agents just fine, except for one agent which we're working on the agents PC to see whats going on.

There is no special way to install CAD, it is just a msi file. On both my Windows 7 professional machines it installed fine. I have remote access to a couple of the customers machines so I have tried uninstall/re-install. I did not want to patch the registry in case I BSOD their machine. If I was on site I would have a go.
The customer has around 180 machines running Windows 7 ultimate and none of them have installed the correct packet driver.
The install program must detect if this is a 64 bit OS and install the 64 bit driver, or in some cases maybe not.
If your machines have installed the correct driver there is a test program. C:\Program Files (x86)\Cisco\Desktop\bin.
Make a call from the agents phone, internal is OK and then run NICQ.exe its output is written to a file called NICQ_Output.txt

  • Is flash player 11.3 compatible with Windows vista 64 bit?

I don't have major issues with the video and sound (the flash player used to crash frequently but that seems to have been resolved). But I can't adjust the volume with the volume control wheel when I watch videos on firefox. When I check volume mixer the flash player is tied to the speaker, not firefox.
The product description for flash player 11.3 seems to suggest that it will not support Windows Vista 64 bit. Should I revert back to an older version? What's the most straightforward way to do that? Is the Adobe team fairly close to finding a solution?
Much thanks to anyone who provide some answers for people who aren't computer savvy - like me.

Previously, with separate 32-bit and 64-bit installers, you could run the 64-bit installer on Vista, and it would work correctly.  However, it was not officially supported by Adobe.
Now with the 11.3 combined installers, I do not know what it installs on Vista.  I do not have Vista available, so I cannot test it.  Can you tell me what files you have in
    C:\Windows\system32\macromed\flash ?
    C:\Windows\syswow64\macromed\flash ?

    Hi there,
Specs: as per Qosmio X 300. SSD 110GB, pentium core 4 extreme, 4 Gb RAM, plenty free storage on SSD (29GB), NVidia drivers with primary being GE Force 9800 M GTS, Direct X10.  there is also a note down the bottom saying that if i have linked graphic cards (whihc i do i believe there are three), that i can expect better perfomrance with some software.
Ok I aplogise from the outset, i am a layman and not that techie. K.  So the issue that I upgraded recently (last week) from vista ultimate 64 bit to windows 7 64 bit. ultimate.  For the main, I am reasonably happy with the outcome in most areas - except gaming that is. I have increased speed and agility and the processor is now rated at 7.2. WEI. overall the laptop is rated at 5.8. however, getting back to teh reason for writing, I have nothing negative to say about windows 7 (as compared to its predecessor) apart from wishing to resolve my game crash issue. which usually occurs about 15 mins - 20 mins into a game and comes in the form of a shutdown ? BSOD from whence the laptop reboots when prompted at on/off and wants to know if to start normally or in various safe modes. I have noticed that the laptop does become very hot at the back (around the fans) prior to teh shutdown, and i am wondering if this is an overheating issue, and how to resolve if this is the case. the only other thing i have noticed that seems untoward is that i have apparently lost a wireless jump start driver from the upgrading process which i cannot find anywherre, and may be totally unrelated to this issue anyway.
All i want to do is play the games i could play on windows vista ultimate 64 bit. these include: Sims 3, sims 3 world adventures, sims 3 ambitions, highloft end stuff, and Bioshock. Oddly enough, i have played sid meyers civillisations revolutions IV (the latest one) with no crashes, and i havent tried ANNO 1404, but fear a similar fate may await this game as some of the others.
    Addditional information:
everything is as i described it above, however the screen does not go blue but black, and the laptop shuts itself down,  laptop acts as if hibernating mode? (these are guesses) or some mechanism geared at preventing over heating - the back becomes very hot.  the machine can be rebooted from normal mode but comes up firstly with a screen suggesting that the laptop was incorrectly shutdown, and offers options as to safe mode, normal etc. i have been starting normally with no adverse effects.   This is scenario one.
scenario two ends up similarly at teh reboot stage, but gets there differently. i play the game and the screen freezes, unable to move touchpad curser, unalbe to use ctrl alt del to get up task manager. end up having to crash to reboot.
I am quite frustrated and very reluctant to mess around with things that i dont understand (dont want to make the problem worse!). I am happy to attemtpt to follow your good explicit advice.
the only other negative thing i am expereinceing is screen flicker on internet. I have changed my power mode from high performance to balanced to try to nullify the overheating issue but i now am noticing this screen flicker which is irriating and appears on keystroke, or cursor movement.
Please note well:  I am a layman, not a technician! Please explain in easy to (dummy) terms! Thanks!
    kind regards

  • Bootcamp no device drivers found (Windows 7 64-bit)

    Hello,
I am desperately trying to install Windows 7 64-bit on my mid-2011 MacBook Pro, on a 100g partition made by Bootcamp.
My Macbook is using the latest Mavericks update OSX.
I am using a Windows 7 .iso trial downloaded from Microsoft DigitalRiver and am using the Bootcamp 5.1.5621, as advised by Apple staff on this website.os
I have an official and working Microsoft Windows activation code with which to activate the trial, once installed.
However, first of all, Bootcamp 5.1 fails to recognize the .iso file. So I burned the .iso to a DVD. I have downloaded the latest Bootcamp Windows Support drivers (as said, 5.1.5621) onto a fully functional and accessible USB drive, which is MS-DOS FAT formatted and inserted in the USB port the whole time.
Now Bootcamp detects Windows 7 on the DVD and starts the installation procedure. Macbook resets, Windows starts installing.
And then, after selecting language and OK'ing 'Install', I get the dreaded Windows Explorer screen informing me that 'No device driver has been found'. In the directories on the USB, I flip through all the files but no .exe or other executables are encountered.
As far as I can see, I'm doing everything by the book. So why isn't the book working?
    Looking forward to your advice.

    1. The USB needs to be USB2 not USB3.
    2. From Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows operating systems
    Requirements for all Windows installations
In order to install Microsoft Windows using Boot Camp, you need the following:
    An Internet connection
An administrator account in OS X to use Boot Camp Assistant
The keyboard and mouse or trackpad that came with your Mac (If they aren’t available, use a USB keyboard and mouse)
A minimum of 2 GB of RAM, 30 GB of free disk space are recommended if you are installing Windows for the first time, or 40 GB of free disk space if you are upgrading from a previous version of Windows
An authentic Microsoft Windows full install disc or ISO file
A built-in optical drive, or a compatible external optical drive is required if you are using an install disc
8 GB USB storage device, or external drive formatted as MS-DOS (FAT) to install the downloaded drivers
    3. From Boot Camp 5.1: Frequently asked questions
Can I use a downloaded (ISO) version of Windows with Boot Camp?
MacBook Air (Mid 2011 and later), MacBook Pro (Mid 2012 and later, including Retina models), Mac mini (Mid 2011 and later), and iMac (Late 2012) can install downloaded (ISO) versions of Windows 7 and 8.

  • Windows 7 64 bit or 32 bit? (Main idea: Performance & Stability)

    Hello guys
Currently I have installed Windows 7 32 bit. I'm thinking of changing to the 64 bit version as in 32 bit, Windows only use 2.72GB RAM although I have 4GB RAM on my MacBook Pro 13(you have 4GB RAM, but your computer only use 2.72GB. What a waste)
I use Windows for games, sometimes for office works (when it comes working with my friends which mostly of them using Windows)
Currently, I have no problem using the 32 bit.No lags.Fast boot
I'm wondering, if I use the 64 bit, booting is faster?Less lags?
(one of my friend use Vista Home Premium 64 bit said that boot using the 64 bit is quite longer than the 32 bit, but the performance is much better then 32 bit)
I have read some articles regarding gaming on Windows 7 64 bit. Problems, crashing and sometimes BSOD!
    Quite scary on hearing that...
So, anybody can give me a piece of advice?

Well, my computer does show the installed RAM as 4GB. But, when I open Computer Properties, it shows:
    RAM installed: 4.00GB (2.72GB Usable)
When I check with another tools(TuneUp), it also shows that the RAM that used by Windows 7 is 2.72GB

  • Windows 7 64 bit has problems with Actiontec MI424WR while wired with wireless radio off

I have discovered an issue with Windows 7 64 bit OS.  My attempted set up was to havea 802.11n Belkin Play router connected to my Actiontec MI424WR router as a wireless access point with the MI424WR wireless radio turned off.  This worked fine for my XP 32 bit PC, my Windows 7 32 bit PC, and my 2 Windows 7 64 bit laptops using wireless.  A problem arose when I tried wired connections on the Windows 7 64 bit laptops and a Windows 7 64 bit PC.
While wired, internet would drop either completely or intermittently but too frequently to be useful.  Tech support had no idea what to do or what caused it.  It was reproducible after a reset of the router and then turning off the wireless radio.
I could fix it by turning on the wireless radio again, but I had hoped to turn it off and only use wireless from the 802.11n router.
    Any ideas?
    Brian

Did you disconnect wireless on the 2 Windows 7 64 bit machines while testing wired?
What is the connection between the Actiontec and the Belkin?  LAN-to-WAN or LAN-to-LAN?
If the connection is LAN-to_LAN, the wireless connection on each machine would have obtained a DHCP address from the Actiontec.  When you connected wired, you would have gotten a new IP address based on the different MAC address of the wired NIC, resulting in the machine having 2 IP addresses.  This may not be readily apparent on the Actiontec main status page as the second connection will get a generated name of "new-host-xx" (the router can't reuse the same PC name for 2 different IP addresses).  Windows should be able to keep the two connections on the same subnet straight, but I've seen WIndows do stranger things.
If the connection is LAN-to-WAN, the Belkin must have a different subnet address than the Actiontec (e.g.. 192.168.2.x).  Now, if you connect both wired to the Actiontec (192.168.1.x) and wireless via the Belkin (192.168.2.x), Windows is going to have connections to two different subnets with two different gateway routers. Without explicit routing rules, Windows won't know which gateway to use.
