Windows 7 64-bit  Itunes crashes

For the last couple of months  when it seems that my itunes is done updating my iphone 3GS I get an error message saying itunes needs to close.   Any ideas on how to fix this would be appreciated.

No, that might put all your music in a different folder. Making a new library was just a test, to see if it was a problem with the itunes database file.
That new test library probably got named iTunes1...you can just delete that after you close itunes.
You can recreate your library using these steps. It should get back everything except Date Added.

  • Windows 7 64-bit Itunes crashes when I go to itunes store

Every thing seems to work fine except that when I try to access iTunes store it crashes, or update my apps.
I have updated my path C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support and no change.

I had exactly the same issue today with my Windows 8 PC, and I tried the suggestion below provided by another person in this forum - and it works.
Try adding C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support; to the system variables PATH
iTunes tries to use QTMovieWin.dll and that the file is in the directory
    Guide to add a PATH:
    Windows 8
Drag the Mouse pointer to the Right bottom corner of the screen
Click on the Search icon and type: Control Panel
Click on -> Control Panel -> System -> Advanced
Click on Environment Variables, under System Variables, find PATH, and click on it.
In the Edit windows, modify PATH by adding the location of the class to the value for PATH. If you do not have the item PATH, you may select to add a new variable and add PATH as the name and the location of the class as the value.
    Close the window.
    Windows 7
Select Computer from the Start menu
Choose System Properties from the context menu
Click Advanced system settings > Advanced tab
Click on Environment Variables, under System Variables, find PATH, and click on it.
In the Edit windows, modify PATH by adding the location of the class to the value for PATH. If you do not have the item PATH, you may select to add a new variable and add PATH as the name and the location of the class as the value.
    Windows XP
Start -> Control Panel -> System -> Advanced
Click on Environment Variables, under System Variables, find PATH, and click on it.
In the Edit windows, modify PATH by adding the location of the class to the value for PATH. If you do not have the item PATH, you may select to add a new variable and add PATH as the name and the location of the class as the value.
    Close the window.

windows 7, 64 bits, iTunes 10.7, not run
I upgrade iTunes to 10.7 and since then, iTunes not run
I try several times, unistall and install
I downgrade to iTunes 10.6 but still not running

    Many thanks.
Can you check something for me please?
Restart your PC. after the PC restarts, bring up your Task manager, and go to the "Processes" tab. Click "Image name" to sort the processes alphabetically.
    Now try to launch iTunes.
Does an itunes.exe process appear? If so, does it vanish after a second or so, or does it persist in the Processes tab (even though iTunes itself never shows up)?

  • Installed Itunes 11.0 on Windows 7 64-bit / Itunes store crashes app completely

    Hello
I Installed Itunes 11.0 on Windows 7 64-bit and I can download podcasts and it will sync,
but after downloading app updates and clicking done,
Itunes crashes immediately when it tries to access the itunes store.
If I try to access the Itunes store though Itunes at any time it crashes.  CrashTunes?
Ninetynine percent of the time I don't want to go to the Itunes store ...
I want to sync my updated pocasts and updated apps to the phone and leave.
not half-sync my phone, crash and repeat until I get the timing right,
then have to break more traffic laws that usual to get to work on time.
    Sorry for the vent,
Thanks for your time to any of those who help,
    Bobby

After numerous calls with Apple support, I finally got it working
For me, the problem was the following:
    1. Make sure that Internet Explorer is your standard browser for windows (if not...make it)!
    2. In Internet Explorer go to "Internet Options" then "Advanced"
    3. In the list scroll down to "Security" and UNCHECK "Check for server certificate revocation"
    4. Make sure that (a bit further down) "Use SSL 3.0" and "Use TLS 1.0" are CHECKED.
    5. Delete the "SC Info" folder once again...
    6. Run iTunes in Admin-Mode
After that, I was able to activate my computer and I changed my browser back to Firefox afterwards...
Hope that will help you too !!
    Cheers

  • Windows Vista 64-bit - ITunes died and won't reinstall

Last night my wife let her laptop battery run dry with itunes 10 open. We had just installed it a week or so ago, and had not updated from the online download version.
Anyhow, afterward, when I tried to open iTunes, MS would pop up with a message that the program failed to open properly. The laptop is Windows Vista 64-bit with the 64-bit software.
I uninstalled, restarted, reinstalled, restarted, and tried again. Seemed to install correctly, but still got the crash when attempting to open.
Tried QuickTime, it also will no longer open. Uninstalled both, and no when I try to install iTunes, it goes through the gathering information process of the install, but then pops up with a window saying the installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured.
I downloaded Windows Install Utility v. 3, but it shows iTunes and QuickTime completely removed (at least no entries were in their to remove).
I also redownloaded the iTunes .exe, with the same results. Even tried the 32-bit, heh, which obviously didn't work, but worth a shot I suppose.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
I did a backup of the registry and went through and hard delete most of the iTunes entries, with no success, so I just restored the registry to the original since I wasnt 100% sure that I should be doing that.

Below are the two most recent problem reports for each of the three programs. No other programs had any recent problem reports. One interesting thing, from the time stamps, there are no crash reports from the last few iTunes install attempts which were giving the message from above and the latest attempt where it just flickers then doesn't do anything else.

  • Ipod Touch and Windows 7 64 Bit - Itunes not recognizing

I have Windows 7 64 bit operating system. I have been struggling with getting my Itunes and Ipod touch to work together - somewhere an update or upgrade screwed things up.
Right now, I have Itunes 10 64 bit installed on my computer. When I plug in the Ipod touch to sync, I get a message in Itunes telling me that this Ipod requires the 64 bit Itunes and I need to remove and reinstall the 64 bit version of Itunes.
Needless to say, I've removed and reinstalled the 64 bit version 3 times. Still won't recognize my Ipod Touch.
    HELP!
    HP Desktop

    Hey!!
Well ... After about 3 months of searching, going to the apple Genius bar... (seriously they wanted me to delete my stuff... I couldn't live without my books I downloaded from drinkmalk.com which is now defunct)
So.. I am running a Dell Studio 1557 Windows 7 (no SP installed yet), 64 Bit and I own a 3rd Generation Ipod Touch, 32 Gig and had many of the same problems. In my case... I was able to update software, but I couldn't sync music onto my ipod or transfer purchases I would get: Internal Device error, operation failed... etc etc.. .every sync error you can think of...
MAGIC FIX (For me.. and other users)
    1. There is a known bug that says its a chipset issue (Just google Ipod sync chipset issues and realize you aren't alone)... Most likely you don't Have a PCI card slot to put a new usb thing on... so.. that is a no go...
    2. SOLUTION (that worked for me) - UPDATE THE BIOS on your PC. If you go to your computer manufacturer's driver site... you can search for these updates. Chances are... you have the version that was installed on your computer that is out of date (its not one of those things that automatically updates). For the most part, you never really need to update it since it doesn't affect regular functioning... most people update it on the advice of a technician. Either way, I went to the Dell support site, looked up my laptop and found the install file.
WARNING BACK UP YOUR HARD DRIVE AHEAD OF TIME IF YOU DECIDE TO DO THIS!! ALSO, RESEARCH HOW TO MAKE A BIOS RECOVERY DISK IN THE CASE IT CRASHES.. BETTER YET, CONSULT YOUR LOCAL GEEK FOR SUPERVISION, IF FOR ANY REASON THE BIOS UPDATE FAILS AND IT DOES HAPPEN SINCE WE KNOW PC's are WONKY... YOU MAY RISK BRICKING YOUR COMPUTER... Just google "Bios Update Failure" to see the horror stories..
However.. that said and done.. I updated it ... made the mistakes above and was able to get my computer back by leaving the battery out for an hour, pressing the power button for 30 seconds and restarting ... after the failure scare... saved me 200 bucks from dell customer service
Good News: With the updated bios... SYNC WORKS PERFECTLY!! I can put music on, transfer stuff out... no errors!! =) JOY!

  • Windows 7 64-bit: iTunes 9 throws Error 7 on launch.

New install of Windows 7 64-bit Enterprise, with personal files transfered form a Vista install.
Tried to install iTunes 8.2.1, but got an error. Decided to wait for the new, improved version of iTunes. Uninstalled as much iTunes 8 as showed up in the Programs and Features control panel app.
Installed iTunes 9, using the Run as Admnistrator option. The install seemed to go okay, no errors. On launching iTunes now, I get an error message saying I should reinstall iTunes, and announcing "Error 7."
I can't find any reference to Error 7 in the help section here. Apple seems to be lagging a bit on iTunes 9 and Windows 7 support information.
My brother reports two successful installs of iTuned 8 on an identical OS.
So, any ideas on what went wrong, and how to fix it?
    Thanks,
    Bruce

Yeah, ever since changing my operating system from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional, iTunes has been giving me the Error 7 at launch, no matter how many times I uninstall and reinstall it. It also will not work with compatibility settings (namely, Windows Vista and Windows XP), either.
I also couldn't find any mentions of this in the support sector, either.

  • Unknown error -50 while syncing CONTACTS in Windows Vista 64 Bit & iTunes 9

My operating environment: Windows Vista Home Premium 64 Bit; iTunes 9.0.2.25. iPod is Classic 80 GB, setup for a hard rive also. Music sync is fine. iPod plays the music tracks fine.
Problem: Few days back I tried to sync my "contacts" from my Windows Mail. This worked fine. But, I noticed that my Contacts in the Windows Mail had dupicates and not in proper sequence (last name, first name). So, I spent a lot of time in fixing the records in Windows Mail. I then re-synced the revised Contacts with my iPod. The sync process ended quickly normally, but, nothing changed in the iPod - still showing old records. I tried this sync process couple of times, but no chnage!
Next, I went to Windows Explorer and opened the Computer, and RT-clicked on the iPod icon and opened the properties and deleted the file shown on the hard drive/iPod. and then resynced again. Now I got an error message: "The ipod "--------" cannot be synced. An unlnown error occurred (-50).
Can some one please tell me: 1) how to sync the contacts so they show my new, revised contacts? and 2) how to get rid of this -50 error?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
I unfortunately have no solution but same error is occuring on mine as well. Also Vista. It happened first 2 days ago after having sync my ipod to latest software 1.1.2 I have then updated to iTunes 9 but no change. Music is seeming to update but the error maintains. If we as user have no idea whom could we contact at apple to get pro help? I mean we are purchasing expensive stuff and we could expect some help. all the best Matt
