Windows 7 64 bit won't run any .exe starting with VM*

In my Windows 7 Professional 64 bit machine, executable whose name starting with "VM" is getting terminated after starting the process. For eg: vmd.exe, vmtest.exe etc will be forcefully terminated once it is started its execution. But if I rename
them to some other, it would execute without any issues. Looks very wired. Please help?

I suggest you use the
Process Monitor to capture the details. Run the same .exe with and without "vm" name. Then compare the processes. See if there's any clue.

A couple of other things you might like to try :-
- Determine whether you are able to access the internet from anywhere else on your new PC (e.g. do Windows updates download ? Can you access the Windows 8 store ? ) If the answer is no, then your problem doesn't lie with IE but with the actual wireless connection. If the answer is yes, then continue as below.
- Run IE from the desktop instead of the Start screen - probably won't make any difference, but worth a try.
- Download a decent browser like Firefox or Chrome and try that - this will show whether the problem lies just with IE or not
- As a general rule, don't do anything that PC World tell you to do, lol !
As gg30340 says, this does sound very much like it MAY be a problem with firewall settings - if you're running Norton Antivirus then I believe that will be providing the firewall service, rather than the inbuilt Windows firewall.
One thing you don't need to worry about - Windows 8 is a perfectly good OS and works just as well as Windows 7 did. I'm using it now !

Open up an elevated cmd and enter the following commands:
slmgr –upk
This will uninstall the current Product Key
slmgr –cpky
This will clear the product key from the registry
slmgr –rilc
This will re-install the System License Files
slmgr –ipk XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
This will install your Product Key
slmgr –ato
This will activate your Product Key
NOTE: Useful commands for SLMGR
-dli -> Display License information
-dly -> Display detailed License Information
-upk -> Uninstall Product key
-ipk -> Install Product Key
-ato -> Activate Windows
-rearm -> Reset the Licensing Status of the machine

Updating BIOS, Windows won't run the exe

I'm running Win7 Pro x64 and I want to update the BIOS on a a55m-p33 mobo. Live update just says 'download fail', so I've downloaded the file separately and put it on a pen drive as per the BIOS Update SOP. When I run the exe it says it isn't compatible with this version of Windows.
Anyone know why that would be?

My Itunes 64 bit decided not to run when I deleted the library. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it several times but it won't run. Even if I plug my ipad mini, nothing happens.

So I followed the bootcamp guide which was made by apple. I opened up the bootcamp assistant and downloaded all of the software needed, and started partitioning the disk. I made about 40GB of space for my Windows side. After the partition completed, my mac restarted and started to read the DVD. However, I only get a black screen, and I can't get the Windows 7 installer to run. I thought I have some problems with my install disk so I used virtual box to see if the dvd works. When I used it on virtual box, the installer started and everything went fine. But when I use this for bootcamp, it did not work. I tried resetting everything, using a different installation disk, redo the partitioning, or boot up the disk by pressing the option key at the startup and selecting the disc. But none of them worked. I don't know why this is not working, since windows installed without any problems on my macbook pro retina. If someone was in the same situation or knows a solution for this, please help me. Again it is the Late 2009 iMac 21.5 inch model.

MSI GE70 won't run any discs

I'm new to this forum and hopefully I've posted this in the right section.
My MSI Ge70 suddenly won't read any discs. First I tried a game and then several DVDs
I'm not all that good with computers, but I did make the PC search the net and see if it run with the latest driver (which it said it did).
I also deactivated and then reactivated the DVD-ROM drive.
This happened from one day to the next and I really don't have any ideas except for the lens being damaged or something,

Well, if the drive itself is still recognized and just suddenly can't read discs it is most likely faulty. Try restorig default Windows to ensure there is no malware on your pc preventing the drive to read.

I try to develop some user control application on Windows XP. the problem is I ,machine's administrator, want this application to run on guest account and guest user cannot end this process by Ctrl-Alt-Del.
Is there any suggestion about running applcation that guest user cannot close it?

History: I originally bought 1 512 stick of PC3200 Mushkin ram and had fits just getting rig to boot. Finally got it to boot, but only at 100mhz. Installed winxp, all updates, dx9.0b, chipset drivers, video drivers(5672's).
Then tried getting it to boot up at 166 with no go. Never got to windows higher than 133mhz. Found out it was the Ram. RMAed to newegg for the Kingmax since it is recommended at the MSI site. Now the machine boots up and recognizes the 2500+ no problem.
Run Prime 95 overnight with no errors. Run Memtest for about 3 hours, no errors. All looks good until I try to run 3Dmark2001se.
It will fail loading the first test everytime and reboot. I turned of the reboot function in windows so now I get a blue screen with a Minidump error that points to an Nvidia file.
Tried raising shared video ram to 64 and 128 with no joy. Tried all the other usual stuff also loike making sure video was not cacheble.
I did run Dxdiag and it runs fine with no errors!
The only thing that I ran across on this site is maybe the PSU? I saw where someone said .3a on the -5v rail was borderline for IGP? What kind of crap is that?
I have an Enermax 350w with 1a on the -5v rail running my gaming rig. Would it be worth ripping that out and putting it in my moms rig to try it?
Looking for some suggestions here. This thing is driving me nuts. I mean it seems to be stable as a rock until I try to run a 3D application. She probably won't ever use the rig for 3D, but thats not the point. The rig should work on all aspects.

Xine depends on curl, which depends on libidn, but the maintainer forgot to namcap, so pacman doesn't know libidn should be on your system. Tell pacman you want it and xine works again.

What windows applications won't run on a mac?

I'm about to go from PC to Mac and would like to get an understanding of what common applications won't run on a Mac. I'm not interested in things like MS Office and such which I know have Apple version, but I'm interested in Adobe Acrobat, Flash Player, Others such as Garmin, eBay Turbo Lister, Nikon View, etc. Seems to me I've heard that Flash files won't work on Apple Products. Are there apps that will allow some of these to run?
I don't think I have too many to worry about but I'd appreciate hearing what challenges others have had and what to expect in general.

All Office and Adobe products available on both platforms. Flash works fine on a Mac, just not on iDevices like iPads or iPhones.
Others that you've listed just find out if the developers have a Mac version. Do some research.

Java FX apps won't run on the browser with Linux

I am not able to run any Java FX browser app. When the app starts loading, i just get a gray box inside the browser screen. I've reproduced this with the JavaFX Ensemble sample app as well as my own apps. This is the exception i get on the Java Console when trying to load the Ensemble app:

After you download the jre file click on it to install it. I'm not sure why AOL isn't registering and the internet explorer is.
Try putting this into your autoexec.bat file (if your running on windows operating system).
set classpath=C:\ProgramFiles\JavaSoft\JRE\1.3.1\bin;%PATH%
Make sure the file path is correct. It's the path to the java.exe file. This ensures programs that use java.exe file to find it.
You have to restart your computer after changing the autoexec file for it to register.

I already installed patch 15 for SAP GUI 7.10..What i see when i enter the Tx is a blank page with some light blue square there. I can see all the button but cannot click or tick any of that.

No, the issue happen in all computer. I found this in other thread and i dont know how it works.
