Windows 7 64-bits on the 2010 MacBook Air

Should I be expecting some sort of driver incompatibilities running Windows 7 64-bit on the new 2010 Macbook Air? (such as multi-touch mouse pad, bluetooth, wifi, sleep mode, etc).
If yes, will the older Vista 64-bit be a better choice for the Bootcamp?
Thanks

When you start BootCamp using your MacBook Air it will ask you if you want to download the latest drivers (including Win7), it'll give you the option to save them to a DVD/USB drive as well to install them after you install Win7
No incompatibilities so far.....
good luck

  • Why can't a choose to create a Windows 7 install disk on my 2010 macbook air?

It is a 2010 macbook air, with lion 10.7.2 and bootcamp 4.0.1. the option to create a windows 7 install disk is greyed out, i have a trial version from microsoft website, but i also have a downloaded windows 7 both of them are .iso, i also have a 4gb usb in. could someone explain to me how to fix this?

    You might follow this procedure...
    http://howto.cnet.com/8301-11310_39-20020513-285/install-win-7-on-macbook-air-fr om-a-usb-drive/
Note that to start the procedure, you will need a Windows computer to create the USB install stick.
I have an iMac with Windows 7 running via BootCamp, but I really don't like the BootCamp setup mainly because it's necessary to reboot the computer every time you switch from one OS to the other.
A few days ago I got a new MBA 128GB model which I decided to put Windows on via Parallels.  I have an old stand-alone DVD drive I plugged into the MacAir which immediately recognized the DVD drive.  I then installed Parallels on the MacAir.  When that was finished, it prompted me for a Windows installation disk, which I then put in the DVD drive.
Away it went with very little requests for inputs from me.  In a short time, I had Windows 7 up and running.  So far it looks like a great setup.  With a few other programs, the MacAir reports that it still has 88GB free out of the 128 GB SSD.

  • How do I enable Windows 7 64-bit on Spring 2010 Macbook Pro?

    Hi,
I'm planning to install Windows 7 Home Premium in my brand new MacBook Pro. I already bought the full retail version. I am aware of the fact that the Windows 7 installation disc has both, 32bit and 64bit versions (of Windows 7) on it. I just wanted to know what do you have to do in order to tell BootCamp to install the 64bit version of Windows 7 instead of the 32bit. The main reason of what I want to do this is that I have 4gb of ram and I don't want it to be wasted since the 32bit version of Windows 7 will not see the additional ram.
I will appreciate any help on this matter.
    Thank You.
    Mike
    (System Specs Below)

you don't do anything to bootcamp, when the installation of windows starts, you have the option of installing 32 or 64 bit versions. that's where it's done.
then after that, you have to install the 64 bit drivers from your mac os x install dvd, then 3.1 update. it's sort of described here in this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2531082&tstart=0
there are all sorts of weird problems you might have, like black screen during install/reboot, drivers not working, etc...
but in answer to your question, you choose 32/64 bit during bootup of the windows install disc (which bootcamp will take you into), not in bootcamp itself.

  • Install Windows 7 64-Bit on Early 2008 Macbook ?'s

My wife has an early 2008 Macbook with 2.4 GHz processor that I recently upgraded the OS to OS X 10.7.5 and upped the ram to 4 GB.  I had installed a Boot Camp for Windows Vista 32-bit that is still working, but I have a Windows 7 64-bit installation disc that I would like to use on this machine.  I want to completely delete the existing Windows Vista install and put Windows 7 in its place.  I have found through my research that even though the 64-bit version of Windows 7 is "not supported" for this machine, it will still work with the right drivers and will require Boot Camp 4.0
    My questions are:
    - Will the 64-bit version of Windows 7 definitely work on this machine?
    - How would I delete the current Windows Vista installation?
    - Where do I get the 64-bit Apple drivers for Windows 7?  I keep reading about pulling them from the Snow Leopard install DVD, which I have, but I am currently running OS X Lion on the machine, which I do not have a disc for (only received a download code from Apple).  Would the drivers be built-in to Boot Camp 4.0?

    1. From Boot Camp Support Software 4.0.4033 (these can be directly downloaded to the Windows side, once Windows is installed).

  • How to install Windows 7 on 2010 MacBook Air with Lion - Bootcamp Assistant 4.0.1 from USB drive?

I want to install Windows 7 on my 2010 MacBook Air running Lion - Bootcamp Assistand 4.0.1 from a USB drive. I've done this in the past when I was running Snow Leopard and the process was rather easy but now Lion updated the Bootcamp Assistant so i'm no longer able to create a MBR partition without a Super Drive installed. Does anybody managed to do that? Thank you.
The old process working on Snow Leopard:

Does anybody knows how to install Windows 7 from a USB drive on 2010 MacBook Air running Lion?

    Tell my wife that!
This is the best I can do. This way you can use the 2011 MBA way to do things.
Look for the post from @jacktourist. (on page 2 about half way down) This seems to be the easiest.
There are a couple of more similar to this with pictures I've seen around but can't remember where.
Here's another search with added info. It's easier then it sounds.

  • I have windows 7 64 bit but the new itunes will not install because it can't find itunes64.msi.  I have searxhed evertwhere on my pc. In addition, I can't uninstall the itunes and reinstall for the same reason.

I have windows 7 64 bit but the new itunes will not install because it can't find itunes64.msi.  I have searched evertwhere on my pc. In addition, I can't uninstall the itunes and reinstall for the same reason. I can't upgrade for my icloud account.

    Try the following steps:
    1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
    2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
    iTunes
    QuickTime
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components
    3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch

The thunderbolt ethernet adapter is not being recognized on my 2010 Macbook Air running 10.6.8. Is there a driver for it?

That's because there's no thunderbolt port on the 2010 MBair.  You need to buy the USB ethernet adapter.

    What should I do?

The first thing you should do is re-write your post to make it a bit more understandable. I got you have an Epson printer connected to your PC, however after that  your post doesn't make any sense. Are you attempting to print from your iMac, if so then you need to download and install Bonjour for Windows on your Windows machine. Then set Windows so it has printer sharing turned on and then on the iMac simply follow Apple's instructions for adding a printer.

  • Why is it that the 2010 macbooks cannot connect with the thunderbolt display even though they have a thunderbolt port?

I am wondering why cant the 2010 macbooks access the thunderbolt capabilites on the new thunderbolt display? I think it is pointless and some what disrespectful that they force you to try to buy a new computer if you are interested in the display. The 2010s are still very good and relevant devices and apple prides its self on making devices that are usable for more than one year. In that case the older  comps will soon stop being able to be updated.

The Thunderbolt specification and implementation was rolled out starting  with the Early 2011 models. For some reason, Apple decided to recycle the connector already being used for the Mini-DisplayPort.
So no, you can't "access" TB capabilities in the older MBP cause the circuitry isn't there.

  • When will Apple come with an update so 2010 Macbook Airs again can use the Appstore?

the problem appears in Lion and Mountain Lion and came with the last update to the operating system

well, Apple fixed the problem and if so, thank you.
    I have a late 2010 Macbook Air, and I did the following:y
formatted the SSD disk and installed Snow Leopard again from the usb-stick and made the updates
Then I made a partition called Lion and downloaded Lion from App Store in Snow Leopard and installed it on the partition called Lion. The version of Safari with it was 5.1.6 and App Store worked. Then I made a copy of Safari to the desktop, updated Lion (except Safari). Then I transferred settings etc with Transfer assistant from my Mac mini to my Macbook Air in Lion. Safari 5.1.6 was not working, but App Store worked and Firefox did.
Then I downloaded Mountain Lion once more from App Store and installed it over Lion.
And ... hooray.... Safari is version 6 and App Store is working

  • Problem with partition disk in 2010 MacBook Air

    Hello!
I have a 2010 MacBook Air 11-inch and I can't do a partition disk with bootcamp. I have Windows 7 ISO and I have a bootable usb with this. Then, when I try to do partition with bootcamp , it said that I need a remote optical drive. I don't understand, because with my 2009 iMac I can do the partition with bootable usb since bootcamp. This problem is caused by bootcamp program is not well updated or simply, I can't do the partition without remote optical drive?
    Thanks for help!

Exactly the same happened to me. Yesterday morning I opened the lid of my MBP8,1 (late 2011) on a meeting with a client and It just did not wake up :-/ After forced reboot it would never boot stuck on the same place.
Now what is happening any HDD will be recognized and booted aswell 10/10 attempts but SSD will not boot eventhough I reinstalled it all. The SSD WILL boot in other MBP and is visible on other systems.
The SSD WILL BOOT via USB.
I do not believe the disk is the problem.
My MB was replaced just few months ago. My SATA cable was replaced some time before the MB.
