Windows 7 64 Bits + VMware Windows XP 32 Bits + Oracle 10G = Error Conexion

Hi all, sorry for my bad English, but I'm using the google translator, I wonder if I can help with something I am quite confused, I have Windows 7 64 Bit, and I'm using VMware Workstation to emulate Windows XP 32-Bit Within this I am running Oracle 10G, when I install the database is fine, the issue that when I start a second or third time, VMware and I can never connect to sqlplus with the user hr, I have errors and I can not connect, but to restart once or twice VMware there if I connect, it is very rare that one will be Oracle process does not start because I'm emulating XP? because the truth question and try to find and read online ways to install Oracle 10g on Windows 7 64 bit but unfortunately I could never ...
I hope I can help and make a comment again, the version of Oracle 10g Express does not serve me for what I need, I study and practice based on the manuals that are written on the Official version Oracle 10g
Greetings and thank you very much

Thanks for replying G, a while ago when installing Oracle 10g try it but can not remember if not needed, or if I could not do, in fact my Oracle 10G me work just that sometimes I can not connect to the database from sqlplus, I was seeing the guide that I spent, but I have a doubt in this part:
For example:
10.10.10.10 mycomputer.mydomain.com mycomputer
The part I do not understand is the mycomputer.mydomain.com, here would have to put the same domain address with which I make the connection to sqlplus? in my case would be something like:
http://computer1-5e7e5ee1a10:5560
How to add the Host would be this?:
10.10.10.10 computer1-5e7e5ee1a10 computer1
I hope I can help. Greetings and thank you very much

    Hi Luis,
It looks like you are working with a debug build:
'prueba2_oci.exe': Loaded 'C:\Users\Usser3\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\prueba2_oci\Debug\prueba2_oci.exe', Symbols loaded. <=== I see Debug in the path, so this looks like a debug build.
But then further down in your output I see this:
'prueba2_oci.exe': Loaded 'C:\instantclient_11_1\vc9\oraocci11.dll' <=== This is the release build of OCCI dll not the debug build.
You appear to be mixing debug and release libraries which will not work correctly.
This is in the following step in the blog post:
"Expand Configuration Properties node, expand Linker node, select Input item, enter "oraocci11d.lib" for a debug build or "oraocci11.lib" for a release build."
If you are creating a debug build you need to use oraocci11d.lib as input to the linker.
You use oraocci11.lib as input to the linker for the release build.
For your reference, this is what you should see in the output window in Visual Studio for the debug execution:
    'OCCITest.exe': Loaded 'C:\Projects\OCCITest\Debug\OCCITest.exe', Symbols loaded.
    'OCCITest.exe': Loaded 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntdll.dll'
    'OCCITest.exe': Loaded 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\kernel32.dll'
'OCCITest.exe': Loaded 'C:\instantclient_11_1\vc9\oraocci11d.dll'  <=== Notice this is the debug version of the occi library (oraocci11d.dll not oraocci11.dll)
'OCCITest.exe': Loaded 'C:\instantclient_11_1\oci.dll', Binary was not built with debug information.

  • Oracle 10G error - while installing 4.6C

    Dear all,
I have tried installing 4.6c directly in oracle 10g in a HPUXIA64 server.
I followed the note 946141 and did the central instance and also installed Oracle and upgrade it to 10.2.0.2 then applied the interim patches.
After applying the interim patches I started the DATABASE.R3S file and it has loaded the data successfully and also statistics update was done successfully.
But it fails to start the database. when I checked the alert log it says.

  • Oracle 10g installation on Windows 7 (32 bit OS)

My Operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit OS), I have downloaded below Oracle 10g version from oracle site.
"Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3/10.2.0.4) for Microsoft Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7"
    Link - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html
At the time of installation it is giving OS Compatibility error.
Can anybody tell me, is this the right version? or is there any prerequisite required before installation ?
    Please guide me.

You will need to follow the instructions here - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/relnotes.102/b15680/toc.htm#BABEBBJF
10.2.0.3 and 10.2.0.4 are not certified with Win 7 - you will need to upgrade to 10.2.0.5 - this assumes you have access to My Oracle Support in order to download the patch.

  • Oracle-10g RAC on VMware installed on Windows-7(Host)

    Hi,
My host OS is Windows-7. Docs. posted on this forum for RAC on VMware says: your Host OS should be Centos OS and in which you will install VMware and Client tools also. In this way u can clone another RAC2 machine.
But I have Oracle VM Virtual Box installed on Windows-7. Another is VMware Player installed on Windows-7.
I want to install Oracle-10g RAC on my Laptop. Please any suggestions or Docs. related to this.

  • ODBC driver with Oracle 10G on 64bit Windows OS.

I m facing a issue with my peoplesoft application which is installed on Windows 2003 64bit OS.
    Setup Details
Oracle 10G Server on AIX 5.3.
peoplesoft CRM tools 8.48,Oracle 10G client in on Windows 2003(64bit) installed.
When i open ODBC administrator from CRM its open showing all the drivers registred to 64bit registry. Whereas when i see ODBC admin from Control panel of OS , its showing driver register from 32bit. My observation is that oracle ODBC driver is getting registerd with 32bit and application is calling DDBCadmin of 64 bit. Hence driver is not getting registered with 64bit registry.

  • W2k8 is 32-bit,which oracle 10g version should be installed?

    Hi everyone,
I am a new DBA. Now I will install Oracle 10g on w2k8. I found w2k8 is 32-bit system, i am wandering which oracle 10g version I should install?
    Thanks!

    Go to http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/index.html
Note that Windows 2008 explicitly is listed against 11.1.0.7
Therefore, you can assume that 11.1.0.7 is the first that definitely supports W2008.
And you can assume that anything older than that line is definitely not supported.
And if it is not supported (as is the case for 10g), you can assume that you will run into some kind of problem either during installation or (worse) at some unknown time later.
You can probably find some workaround to make it appear to work. Which is fine ... it's your job. (At least until it stops working.)

  • 2 nodes RAC with Oracle 10g on Windows 2000 server

Hi at all. I want to manage a cluster having 2 nodes on windows 2000 server each of them with Oracle 10g. I have VMWare 5.0. Someone can suggest me a detailed tutorial how to start and built it? Thank you very much for your answers.
    Saverio Sergio Mola

    the cookbooks here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/linux/vmware/cookbook/index.html
will explain how to install.. however the VMware Workstation product doesn't offer in a supportedway the sharing of two nodes of disks.. there are hacks out there, but they are not very stable. We therefor chose to install two instances on one node to showcase RAC, rather than make it complicated and unstable to use and showcase.
there are also ready made VM's from above page, so u can quickly evaluate it for both Red HAt and SuSE.. when vmware can support such sharing in an easy supported way we might re-evaluate.. until then my personal suggestion is to stick to simple case.. 2 instances on one node.. its easier to copy, snapshot.. etc.
    Enjoy..
    Saar.

  • Slow first connection using Oracle 10g xe and Visual Studio 2008

    {noformat}
    Good day,
I'm slightly unaccustomed to using forums, so bear with me.
My initial connection to the Oracle database takes approximately 30 seconds. It seems to be waiting for a connection before timing out and trying another connection which works, as all subsequent connections work immediately. I'm unsure how other people's responses in forums can help me due to the plethora of configurations, so here's mine. My comprehension of the oracle world is still growing, you'll have to explain the terms you're using for me, Hoping you can help.
I'm using Visual Studio 2008, set to use 32 bit debug mode, on a Windows 7 Pro platform. Also using Oracle 10g Xe, and have installed the 32 bit version of ODAC 11.2 (11.2.0.1) to aid making a connection from Visual Studio to Oracle.
I have a database set up and a user with system admin rights. This is all local for a programming project and will never see the light of day outside of my personal machine.
I am using code to connect, not the GUI. I wish to code this project completely without the aid of the GUI. so my connection string within Visual Studio C# is (pw/id hidden)...
    string xe = "Data Source=xe;User Id=xxxxx;Password=xxxxx;";
    OracleConnection conn = new OracleConnection(xe);
    My c:\devsuitehome\network\admin\sqlnet.ora file is this:
    # sqlnet.ora Network Configuration File: C:\DevSuiteHome\network\admin\sqlnet.ora
    # Generated by Oracle configuration tools.
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS)
NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (LDAP, TNSNAMES, EZCONNECT, ONAMES, HOSTNAME)
And my c:\devsuitehome\network\admin\TNSNames.ora file is this:
    tnsnames.ora Network Configuration File: C:\DevSuiteHome\network\admin\tnsnames.ora
    Generated by Oracle configuration tools.
    XE =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 127.0.0.1)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVICE_NAME = xe)
    EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = <machine name)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVICE_NAME = PLSExtProc)
Just for good measure, my tnsping xe shows:
    "Used paramter files:<br/>
    c:\devsuitehome\network\admin\sqlnet.ora<br/><br/>
Used TNSNAMES adapter to resolve the alias<br/>
    Attempting to contact (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 127.0.0.1)(PORT = 1521)))(CONNECT_DATA = (SERVICE_NAME = xe)))
    OK (0 msec)"
So, how can I make that initial connection faster so I don't spend 15 years testing my application due to slow start-ups? :)
    Thank you.
    Kevin.

I have formatted my hard drive since my first post. I was running window 64 bit with a higher version of the ODAC and that proved to crash my machine with faulty error messages about memory. I have reverted to a previous version of the ODAC tools and everything works very smooth now. Still the connection time is consistently 20 seconds or longer on the first attempt.
Just a little more information.. I am currently taking a college course with 15 other students, as you can tell by the impersonal machine name, where programming using visual studio 2008, and Oracle 10g xe is expected. All of us are using a 64 bit environment and we all have difficulties cutting down the load time of making the first connection to Oracle. Some people are longer making the connection, but none are shorter.
One other note. After the first connection is made, taking 20 or more seconds, and is closed, all subsequent openings of the connection are instantaneous, for all of us.
If there is ANYTHING more I can get for you, please let me know. With my environment stable as it is, I will not need to format or change any information for the foreseeable future.
Here is the information you requested
1 The connection method I am using, I have chosen the manual connection for you, however the delay exists if the connection is made through the GUI as well.
Historically, I am getting slow connection speeds through adding the connection through the GUI or by a manual connection. Here is how I am doing it manually. I have the connection being created in 20 seconds, which is the best I can get.

I fought for weeks about the ODAC version 11.2.0.1 that you see in the previous post, and that would be a whole new thread. Suffice it to say I have a reliable environment to program in with this 10.2.0.1.0 version that I am running now, and the connection time has not changed, it is still minimum 20 seconds load time, sometimes up to 25.

I am running this laptop with 4 gigs of ram. This is a typical environment I would be running my application in.

I amm not sure what filename you would need in addition to the product names that I have installed.
