Windows 7-64 with IE11 GPO

Hello:
We are trying to use a GPO to enable the proxy settings in IE 11.   Our Domain function level is 2008 R2.  Our forest has been prepped for 2012.   We have three sites.   At one site we have a DC running server 2012.
At this site the GPO to enable the IE 11 settings is working.    I tested the same policy applied to the same exact user account on a computer at a site that does NOT have a 2012 DC.   The policy did apply to the user account,
but the settings did not take effect.
Does every site need a 2012 DC before the policy will "work"?  By work I mean the GPO will apply to the user account and the proxy information will automatically be populated into IE11 for proxy server.
Thank you in advance,
Vincent Olenik

Hi Vincent Olenik,
In earlier versions of the Windows® operating system, Internet Explorer Maintenance (IEM) could be used to configure a subset of Internet Explorer settings in an
environment using Group Policy. In Windows® 8, the IEM settings have been deprecated in favor of Group Policy Preferences, Administrative Templates (.admx), and the Internet Explorer Administration Kit 10 (IEAK 10).
There are 2 solutions:
1. Uninstall IE11 to IE9 or lower and IEM will populate again.
2. Set a GPP for IE11.
the only way that you have to configure the GPP policy to apply the proxy settings to the IE10 and Win8/7 machines is opening the Group Policy Management window
from a Win8 machine a create/edit a Domain Policy from there. In order to do it please follow the next steps:
 Windows 8.0 machine + RSAT Tools: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=28972
Windows 8.1 machine + RSAT Tools: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39296
After download to access to it go to the Administrative Tools on the operative system you should have a Shortcut to the Group
Policy Management tool. Then we can start by creating a new GPO. Please notice, you should create a new one, you will see that the GPP already has the IE10 item.

    Hi Loy,
Apologize for the late reply. What is your current situation?
I think what Robert suggested here is to use F12 tools to change the User-Agent string:
    User-Agent string changes
For the compatibility changes in IE 11, please see:
    Compatibility changes in IE 11
Please take use of F12 tool, and then change the User-Agent string or the document mode, see if there are any differences.

  • How configure Windows 8.1 Clients with IE11 for SSO with Kerberos SPNEGO

We are using BI Publisher OBIEE 11.1.1.7 with SSO Kerberos SPNEGO.
The Weblogic Server Version is WLS_PRODUCT_VERSION=10.3.5.0
The SSO is working very well with Clients that are Windows XP or Windows 2003 R2. We had testet wit IE7,IE8 Firefox.
Now as we become Windows 8.1 Clients with IE11 the Kerberos SPNEGO SSO is not working.
Please give us advice or a HOW TO Document about the configuration on Windows 8.1 Cllients with IE11 Browser.
I find many Dokuments related to older Windows Versions for example
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/articles/idm/weblogic-sso-kerberos-1619890.html
but nothing for Windows 8.1 Clients
    Thanks in advance.

The location for tabs in IE11 browser might be different but the steps are the same :
    Configure Local Intranet Domains
       1. In Internet Explorer, select Tools > Internet Options.
       2. Select the Security tab.
       3. Select Local intranet and click Sites.
       4. In the Local intranet popup, ensure that the Include all sites that bypass the proxy server and Include all local (intranet) sites not listed in other zones options are checked.
       5. Click Advanced.
       6. In the Local intranet (Advanced) dialog box, add all relative domain names that will be used for Oracle WebLogic Server instances participating in the SSO configuration (for example, myhost.example.com) and click OK.
    Configure Intranet Authentication
       1. Select Tools > Internet Options.
       2. Select the Security tab.
       3. Select Local intranet and click Custom Level... .
       4. In the Security Settings dialog box, scroll to the User Authentication section.
       5. Select Automatic logon only in Intranet zone. This option prevents users from having to re-enter logon credentials, which is a key piece to this solution.
       6. Click OK.
    Verify Proxy Settings
If you have a proxy server enabled:
       1. Select Tools > Internet Options.
       2. Select the Connections tab and click LAN Settings.
       3. Verify that the proxy server address and port number are correct.
       4. Click Advanced.
       5. In the Proxy Settings dialog box, ensure that all desired domain names are entered in the Exceptions field.
       6. Click OK to close the Proxy Settings dialog box.
What is the error reported by the browser / wls logs ?

  • Project Server 2010 compatibility with IE11 and Windows 8.1

    Hi All!
Maybe a silly question since compatibility is always asked about older versions, but here is my question:
Is Project Server 2010 compatible with IE11 and Windows 8.1?
I personnaly tested with IE11 and it seems to be ok. All views and pages can be opened with IE11.
    But what about windows 8.1?
Has Microsoft done any communication about this?
Thanks in advance for your helps.

I am seeing a minor issue with the timesheet grid after users are upgraded from IE8 to IE11.
We are using Project Server 2010 with SP1 and Oct 2013 CU.
When some users (using IE11) switches between filters or views in the Timesheet page, the grid shrinks making to content un readable.  The only way to get it back is to refresh the page. After a refresh, the grid returns to normal size, but the pane
divider is too far to the left and always must be dragged to the right in order to see the task names in the left grid.

  • Drag and Drop not working with IE11,Firefox or Chrome on Windows 7 x64 SP1

    Hello,
I am trying to use drag and drop on my system but it is not working. other's within my department have no issues, but they are using IE10. I also have SharePoint Designer 2013 installed.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Derek

Derek,IE11 is having some compatibility issues with the share point.Apart from IE11,it should work on IE10,9 and Firefox and chrome as well.
Please check the links below that explains the issues with IE11 and the functionality of Drag and drop and limitations as-well.
1.Since SharePoint 2013 fully support IE 32-bit version above 7, there might be compatibility issue with other browsers. I’d recommend you use IE 8,9,10 32-bit for optimal Performance.
    2. Open the same document library in Internet Explorer as this functions does not work with Firefox or Chrome by default
    3. Make sure the IE (Internet Explorer) Version should be 32-bit and not a 64-bit

  • Query Windows 7 64bit PCs with IE11 Installed - Problems

    Hello All,
I have been trying to create a query that will tell me what PCs have IE11 installed on them.  I have tried various angles at doing this but I cannot get anything to display...even though we have 15 PCs with IE11 installed.  Normally I use Simple
Value, Installed Applications, Display Name and then pick the name.  But IE10 and 11 are not listed.
So I went a different path where I tried using Software Files. File Name = "iexplore.exe" and Software.File Version is like "11.%"
I tried using Installed Executable with basically the same properties as above with no results.  At one point I was able to get 1 PC to display but that was it.
    does anyone have any suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Rich

For File Inventory you should discover iexplore.exe in %programfiles(x86)% and %Programfiles%. Dont forget to shedule Inventory on the Client Agent. Default should be 1x/Day
You can find it with an SSRS Web Report if File inventory is on. You can also put the Query in SQL Management Studio for a quick result.

  • Windows 8.1 and IE11 - Critical Error: Object doesn't support property or method 'addEventListener'

Our SharePoint 2010 sites don't work very well in Windows 8.1/IE11!!
When opening list items or forms etc we get Critical Error : Object doesn't support property or method 'addEventListener'. It looks like it's possibly linked to InfoPath forms. Given that a large chunk of our users will probably be upgrading
to Windows 8.1 as we speak this is slightly worrying!
Has anyone else noticed this, or is it something to do with our deployment?  We're running SP2010 SP2 with latest CU.

In older versions of IE, attachEvent is
used to attach an event handler for some event on some element. But as per the update , starting with IE11, attachEvent is
deprecated and you should use addEventListener instead.
IE has included support for addEventListener from
IE9 and above only. So if you still need to support IE8, I suggest you use some cross-browser library like jQuery to bind event handlers instead of vanilla javascript.
As you're already using jQuery, you can bind events like below
    $('#yourElement').on('click', function(){
// do something when you click on yourElement

  • Windows 8.1 with bing : restrictions

You should be able to do local policies on these, but you would have to manage them as individual local policies.
They should also support Windows 10, and if you are feeling the challenge, and have the licenses, you can try to upgrade the license to pro so you can use them on the domain fully. But this is your choice to try it. Some are not supported others will work just fine.

Is it possible to put restrictions in place on "windows 8.1 with bing" similar to those available via GPO using local policies, file permission changes or registry changes?  We're evaluating low end PCs for a project where the end users only ever use a couple of pieces of software (internal app and VOIP phone), we just need to lock down the desktop and remove the "confusion" of the 8.1 metro launcher.  The PCs are the HP 260 G1 model and are ideal in size, cost and performance apart from the version of windows not allowing us to roll forward the limited restrictions we have on the XP machines we are trying to replace...

  • Windows 8.1 with IE 11.0.2 - WPAD issue

    Hi there,
I am working on an 8.1 SOE and have an issue whereby the wpad.dat file does not seem to apply and there is a 10 second delay every time IE 11 loads, before our intranet page is displayed (seems almost identical to the 10 second delay described here -
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc302643.aspx).  Once loaded all sites work so it's just the startup delay I need to sort out.  Chrome loads instantly but we have
apps that rely on IE.  Here are some things I've checked so far:
    - Our current Windows 7 SOE with IE8 loads the wpad.dat and there is no delay, I can see this with wireshark and the WPAD registry entries exist under HKCU, wpad.dat exists in temporary files folder
    - I cannot see any reference to dns query for wpad or http get for wpad.dat on Windows 8.1 with IE 11 in wireshark, the wpad registry key exists but no data appears under it once IE has loaded, cannot see any wpad.dat in the cache
    - when I load chrome I can see the dns query and http get for wpad.dat which all happens within one second (hence at this stage I'm assuming this is a bug in IE11)
    - there are entries loaded into DefaultConnectionSettings and SavedLegacySettings, but they dont seem to reference any host (on my win7 machine I can see the correct path to the wpad):
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Connections]
    "SavedLegacySettings"=hex:46,00,00,00,09,00,00,00,09,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
      00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
      00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00
    "DefaultConnectionSettings"=hex:46,00,00,00,03,00,00,00,09,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
      00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
      00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00
    - I've tried removing the patch to 11.0.1 and 11 with same results
    - disabled AV, IPv6, all sorts of other stuff without any success
    Appreciate any ideas :)
    Thanks,
    Simon

Hi, I have gone back to a very simple wpad.dat as below:
    BackupRoute="DIRECT";
    UseDirectForLocal=true;
    ConvertUrlToLowerCase=false;
    function FindProxyForURL(url,host)
     return "PROXY ipaddress:port";
With this file the issue is resolved, so it is definitely something to do with the wpad content.  Are you able to confirm in your environment?
    Cheers, Simon

  • Problems with IE11 on W8.1 pro - after recent patch?

Couple of problems have appeared recently with IE11 on Windows 8.1 Pro - everything was fine, but I am assuming a recent patch has caused the problem.  Problems are not seen on IE11 on Windows 7 Pro or on other browsers.  I'm running on auto-update,
so should have the latest software versions.
    1) Extra white space is inserted before a table.  It happens on multiple web sites.  Length of the space varies and could make you think the page has failed.  It appears to be consistent for a page but I see no pattern between
    pages.
    2) Multi level Menus implemented through CSS with drop downs to the side are suddenly inordinately sensitive when moving into the drop down making the menu almost useless.

  • Changing WRP file permissions with a GPO

I would like to set my domain workstations so that users are not able to launch regedit.exe, only administrators. Is there a way to set file permissions with a GPO where TrustedInstaller is still the owner and the file permissions are TrustedInstaller defaults
minus users? As soon as I push these manually defined settings via GPO, it completely breaks regedit.exe, and I get an access denied when I try to run it (even as local administrator).
Is there another way to deny domain and local users from launching regedit.exe (or any other WRP  file) and only allow SYSTEM and Administrators access through TrustedInstaller?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
Is there another way to deny domain and local users from launching regedit.exe (or any other WRP  file) and only allow SYSTEM and Administrators access through TrustedInstaller?
To achieve your goal, please enable this group policy Don't run specified Windows applications which is under User Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\System.
You can input “regedit.exe” within the group policy to prevent specific domain users from open regedit.exe. Those users will get a message as below when they trying to open regedit.exe:

  • How do I install Elements for Windows 7 PC with 64 bit? Get error message - file archive part missing

We purchased Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 12 on September 7, 2014 and have tried a variety of things including searching through FAQs on the Adobe site, etc. etc. and cannot get our downloads to work. We are avid computer users and have never had problems downloading software before.
From our account under "orders" - I have tried clicking on the Akamai download manager and the Alternate Download Method on for each application with the same results.
We have a Windows 7 PC with a 64 bit operating system and Internet Explorer 11.
On all attempts we get an Adobe screen with 2 links – 1 for a file ending in .7z and a 2nd file ending in .exe.
I click on the first file and confirm the download completes at 100% (not paused, etc.) and is in the downloads folder for my user name on the PC.
I click on the 2nd link for .exe and I receive the error message below – 2nd screen shot – “file archive is missing” all folders/files must be in same folder.
So I see it’s a winzip file (as a winzip pop up folder had come up also) so I download the free version and unzip the files in the same downloads folder under my user name to try that.
I click on .exe file link again and same message. I tried copying the files directly to the downloads folder (as they all unzipped into a subfolder called PSE 12 and tried clicking on .exe again but get the same message.
For Premiere I tried the same and got same results on the 64 bit version download.
I do not know how to access the software we purchased.
Any help or advice is appreciated.
Also - if anyone knows how I can contact Adobe for a full refund so I can just buy the boxed software instead - that would be helpful as well as that is not easy to find online either.
    Thanks!
    Ariel

I get an error message saying that the quicktime installer will only work on 32 bit
The QuickTime player works on 64-bit systems. (It's a 32-bit application, but it should run fine using the standard 32-bit-on-64-bit Windows-on-Windows emulation.)
What's the precise text of your installation error message, dc? (There one or two different ones I can think of that might mention 32-bit)

  • I have a new Windows tablet computer with limited hard drive space, and cannot transfer my itunes library to the hard drive. Can I run t media from an external hard drive? If so, how do I transfer my files?

I have a new Windows tablet computer with limited hard drive space (32 GB), and cannot transfer my itunes library to the hard drive. Can I run itunes from an external hard drive? I have tried to follow some of the directions on this site, but am having no success. Thanks.

iTunes will run fine with the media on an external drive.
However, I suggest that a tablet computer with a tiny hard drive is not ideal as the primary computer for managing an iTunes library, even a small one. If you have another machine, perhaps a big, boxy, inexpensive old desktop with a decent amount of storage, that might be a better choice.
