Windows 7 Adobe Reader HELP!

Just up-graded to a new laptop with windows 7, and I need Adobe reader for work, but it will not install. It downloads fine (it seems) but when I try to run Adobe 9.3 it will not start, HELP!

I see alot of problems of people installing adobe 9 and not working or pdfs not showing in the browser. In my case I could not view in the browser.
Be default windows 7 comes with adobe reader 9.1 already installed. This has never happened since the beginning of time, but now they decide include reader by default.
Apparently Adobe reader install program is pretty stupid. It doesn't completely uninstall or copy over previous versions of reader that was installed previously. Looks like it doesn't clean up the registry of previous version that was installed.
You get the wont view in browser error when you are installing another version of reader onto machine that already has it.
So what i did is uninstall the new version i just installed then reinistalled it and everything is fine.
basically just un-install whatever versions of adobe you have and reinstall it.

I can't find a reliable adobe reader pdf download. After spending hours screwing with bogus "free" downloads that put tons of cookies and unwanted programs on, I'm happy to buy something but am even having a hard time getting that done. Need

  • Download Adobe Reader help

???I am attempting to download the latest version of Adobe Reader and I get the 1st window showing the download, then a window pops up to save the file and I am instrusted to click it with a box below telling me when a box like this pops up, then double click on the file name and another window should appear telling to Run it. The 1st thing occurs as in the download, then the 1st window shows that I click Save and then I wait and wait for the next window to appear. I haven't seen it yet so I cannot double click the program name and go to the next window which has not appeared either where I am supposed to Run the program.
What is the preferred method to accomplish this download if it won't do it automatically as the instructions say.

    Hi Richard,
    Try downloading it offline...

  • Vista/Reader problems: Recent Items omissions + Adobe Reader Help menu freeze

This is Vista Home Premium 32bit; it came with Adobe Reader 8.1.2, which I fully updated, then replaced with Adobe Reader 9.0.0. Same problems either way. More info: Toshiba Satellite notebook, 3 GB RAM, 200 GB hard drive, AMD Turion X2 dual processor.
In about half the instances, a .pdf file that Reader has opened never shows up among files in the computer's Recent Items list (in the Start button). No idea why some do/some don't appear.
Also, both Reader versions freeze when one accesses the About option in the Help menu. Ctrl+Alt+Del is the only way out from that, apparently - not great. Only Reader freezes and requires using "End Task." All else keeps operating.

Yes I can create a short cut to internet exp. 32 bit on my desktop and I can even be using Internet expl. 32 bit, but when I try to open a PDF with adobe reader it won't work with internet exp. as my default browser b/c windows will always choose Internet exp. 64 bit which isn't supported yet by adobe reader.  With google chrome as my default browser windows can't choose an unsupported 64 bit browser in its place b/c google chrome doesn't have a 64 bit version.
My post was for those people who may not have realized yet that windows would not ever choose Internet expl. 32 bit over Internet expl. 64 bit if both exist on their system.  For them it is easiest to just choose a default browser that only has a 32 bit version.
If I understood your reply correctly, you were telling me how to create a shortcut to Internet exp. 32 bit on my desk top.  However, having that shortcut on my desk top and opening my browser through it will not prevent the problem of windows choosing my Internet exp. 64 bit browser for pdf's I try to open from the web.  Thank you for your response, but I think the problem that I have tried to explain does exist for many users and can only be fixed by using a 32 bit browser that is not Internet explorer as your default browser.  At some point if windows fixes the update that always chooses Internet expl. 64 bit over Internet expl. 32 bit, then this will all be irrelevant.
    Thanks

  • Adobe Reader help for trial version

Can anyone help me please, granted I am only using the trial version of Adobe Reader but I can never type onto a form recieved in pdf format, also when I scan a document whether it be forms or my pictures it alway's goes to Adobe Reader, I am just a home user, windows 7 64 bit computer and using IE8, if anyone can help I would appreciate it , thanks in advance.

    Emma002,
I feel your frustration. I have been down this road before with the Adobe Reader X (10.1.1) and my issue was that I cept getting the following when I tried to open a .pdf file: "Invalid plugin detected. Adobe Reader will quit." It is fixable but I had to have a Adobe Support agent help me (and it cost me $29.95). But the same problem is back and I can't seem to find any of the email streams that I had from the support agent.
Adobe : If you are going to offer a product (Adobe Reader X) for free, so should at least stand behind it.
I would gladly paid a reasonable fee for Adobe Reader X (10.1.1) if it would continue to operate as advertised.
And George Johnson and -graffiti stop giving lip service - we are just looking for "The fix".

  • Adobe reader help... fill out a street address

    Hello,
i have windows vista, adobe reader version 9.1.0... I'm trying to fill out a form online but when i type a street address, for exemple:
"500 First street" the word "first" goes on the right on the number 500 just after hitting the key SPACE... like this: FIRST 500
    Please help.
    Thanks!

Yes.  As I mentioned, I have tried a few things already.  Is there any way to get specific click by click instructions.  The difficulty is understanding what boxes to click on or off.  I've been in that menu, and tried a number of things but the rights in reader do not allow the user to add and save text.  DO you have a specific set of instructions to help solve this issue?

  • Open documents in same window (Adobe Reader 9)

    Dear forum,
I would like to set up Adobe Reader 9, that it opens all documents in the same window. This is much easier to handle, when you have multiple documents opened.
Does anybody know how to set up Adobe Reader 9 in this manner ?
    Thanks for your answers,
    Theklum

This is the worst thing to happen to acrobat, in my opinion.
The clutter that it creates on my computer and the fact that i cant even see the document title when I have a bunch of them open (because the task bar is too full) is unacceptable.
I never would have changed from Acrobat 8 if I had known, and now I cant switch back (company license).
The latest thing i can find about addressing it is here:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb405108&sliceId=1
    which was in november 2008....
why hasnt any thing else been done about it?  I just spent 45 minutes being sent to different departments over the phone, only to be told to submit a feature request.
Please do this if you havent already:

  • Preview/Adobe Reader help!

    Hey everyone!
I'm trying to scan my notes into my computer, so I'm scanning them in a page at a time and I was wondering if there was any way I could combine all the separate PDF documents (1 per page) into 1 PDF document with several pages. Can I do it in Preview? Adobe Reader? Photoshop Elements? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

You can drag multiple PDFs into the Preview's sidebar to make one large PDF.
    There is also Combine PDFs
    <http://www.monkeybreadsoftware.info/Freeware/CombinePDFs.shtml>
It gives you more control, and can handle image files, as well as PDFs.

  • Unable to download Adobe Reader Help please

I just started working at my new job as a receptionist and i am trying to download the adobe reader but after i click on the "RUN" button is asks me for a user name and a password. How can i go about fixing this problem, can anybody help Please?

Your account on that computer is not a system administrator account. This is standard practice on workplace workstations. It saves a lot of headaches for companies. You need to get in touch with your I/T person or department and have them either: change your account to a system admin (which I don't think they'll do-but it's worth a shot) or have them perform the install.

  • Adobe Reader Help issue

The issue happens to all adobe reader and standard versions which are version X and above, the solution available in http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/error-online-help-content-cannot.html helps but its very slow to get to help feature and happens to all machines in domain.
This is not a issue in customer enviroment as the same issie is seen on my company machines with Adobe X and above.

Use the forum 'Adobe Reader for Android'.

  • Adobe reader help please

hi. have just subscribed and paid for adobe reader convert pdf to word docs on my phone. now on the pc, will not allow me to convert to word, just asks me to subscribe but i already have! please help!

    Hi there nmharris,
You should definitely be able to use your subscription on both your phone and your computer. It sounds like you just haven't signed in to ExportPDF on your computer.  From the ExportPDF website, click Sign in at the upper-right corner, and log in to the service with your Adobe ID credentials. Now, when you click ExportPDF, you'll be prompted to select PDF files to export, instead of being asked to subscribe.
Please let us know if you need additional help.
    Best,
    Sara

  • Adobe Reader Help required

    Hi
I'm running windows 7 home edition and have both Adobe Professional 7.1.0 and adobe reader 9.1 on my machine.
My problem is when I try download some PDF files from the internet and once completed nothing is displayed. As if downloaded PDF file is blank. This does not always happen.
PLEASE can someone advise urgently before I throw my laptop in the pool.
    Thanks

Acrobat 7 Professional (or even 8 for that matter) is not supported on Win7 at all and having both Acrobat and Reader on the same Windows machine isn't supported for ANY OS.
My suggestion would be to upgrade to Acrobat 9 and don't install Reader. That would be the only supported setup.

It would help if you quoted the full error message you are getting.
Are you sure you don't have Adobe Reader installed at all?
Can you check with Microsoft Fixit Center if you don't have any broken environment variables?
