Windows 7 and apple tv

Hi All,
I just recently purchased an apple tv. I wanted to stream files on my pc to this but I cant get the apple tv to see my pc. I have installed itunes but still nothing. Can anyone help....do I really have to convert all my avi files? cause thats a waste of time and I will take it back!!

Problem Solved!!!
I was having the exact symptoms stated at the beginning of this thread. After installing Windows 7 from Vista, Apple TV would show up in the device list and right after entering the verification code it would dissappear and wouldn't show up until I restarted Itunes. I did some research and found that if Apple TV doesn't have a solid connection it basically times out which explains the temporary appereance in the device list followed by it's mysterious dissappearance. At first I thought it might be something with the latest upgrade to Itunes so I started a download of Version 7 to see if that would work. I noticed that my download was only going at around 25k/sec and that was way, way to slow. As it turns out, when upgrading from Vista to 7, Windows 7 erases all of your drivers for things like video cards, network adapters, ect and does a clean install. I took my restore cd from vista and installed the missing driver for my Wireless LAN Adapter. My downloads went up to around 300kb/sec and viola!! Itunes synced up and is working great. It also works through a VPN and with Windows Firewall on as well as a 3rd party service. So if you upgraded to windows 7 take your old restore cd and updated all your network drivers. If you don't have the cd then get them online. This worked for me and I hope if works for everyone else having trouble. If anybody wants detailed instructions just let me know.

A Cloud subscription provides for installing working installations on two machines. You can have mixed operating systems (both Windows and Apple's OX).

Yes you can. You will have to authorize both machines for your iTunes account, and you will only be able to sync what is on the individual computers to your iPod, but switching between Mac and PC isn't an issue.

What do you mean by connecting your Windows? The only connection you will get is via iTunes to stream your media content.

Windows and Apple together?

I have a Dell desktop with Widows XP. I remember the news was talking about how Windows is no longer carrying support for XP, and I do t have the money to shell out for a Windows 7 or 8 program, so I'm thinking about recycling the computer tower, including the mouse and keyboard. I do have an Acer laptop with Windows 7, however, I want an iMac desktop, just in case my laptop acts goofy again. My laptop's down due to malfunctioned hardware and a busted screen. Is it possible that I can use both Windows and Mac?

You can use Boot Camp or you can use virtualization applications such a VMWare's Fusion or Parrallels. Lightroom between Windows and Apple products

I have a new windows 8 desktop that I have been using for Lightroom 4 work and now I want to get a laptop and am considering the Apple but wanted to know the following:
-Can I use the same Lightroom on both my desktop and laptop?
-If i get a Apple laptop will I be able to transfer work between the two that I do in Lightroom?
-I i go this route will i have any compatibility issues that will affect performance?

Performance? Nope...but there are some issues relating to certain areas of compatibilities...for example; hard drives. On Mac you can mount and read/write FAT32 formated external drives but if the drives are formated as NTFS you'll only be able to read from them not write to them. That can be an issue is your catalog is on the drive. If you format the drives as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) your Windows machine won't see the drives unless you install a 3rd party driver (pretty easy & cheap).
But once you work out the compatibilities LR will run just fine on both Mac and Windows.

Transferring memory between a Windows and Apple HD on the MacBookPro

I have 1GB on my MacBookPro; most of it is on the Apple HD with a small amount on the Windows HD. I no longer use the Windows HD and am very low on memory for the Apple HD. How do I transfer the Windows memory to the Apple HD? So far, I have not been able to locate any help on how to do this. Thanks for any assistance!

I went into Win 7, Computer folder:
has Bootcamp C drive and DVD RW (D:) (Apple's Superdrive)
-no mention of Mac OS X here.
Went to Devices & Printer Section (Control Panel)
and found my computer (IBG-PC):
left click on it >properties panel:
=APPLE HDD ATA Device
"working Properly";
right click on IBG-PC>browse files>Bootcamp C:
Still NO mention of OS X files.
Do you think that my Bootcamp drivers etc. are corrupt?
Do you think a re-install of bootcamp & win 7 is in order?

Windows reinstall problem when skype is used on both windows and apple os

i installed skype on the windows os partition of my macbook and it worked fine. after doing the same installation on the mac os partition i was no longer able to use skype with windows i.e. every time i selected "options" in skype my macbook rebooted. i have since removed the windows partition from my macbook hdd but am having problems reinstalling it since. can anyone help?

Windows and apple printing

I have the Hp Deskjet 3050a all in one j611 series, 3052a is what I actually have. I have it wireless for my desktop, and 2 laptops. My question is how can I set this up so I can use 2 differnet Ipads with this printer but still be able to use Windows?

Verna, did you look through the steps in the thread that I posted above? To start make sure that the printer and the iOS devices (your iPads) are on the same wireless network. This is the same network connection you access the internet through. I would recommend turning Bluetooth off, as is expressed in my instructions on AirPrint troubleshooting because the common channel between it and AirPrint can cause interference.

When purchasing photoshop do you only get a windows vs apple version? I recently bought a new apple computer and my previous software(windows version) won't download. Though, I have a hard copy of my Lightroom software and that has both versions. Is Photoshop different? Do I have to buy two separate licenses, is there a discount for that? Thanks!

Windows and Apple have different software versions and your license is only good for the version you purchased. If you purchased CS6 then you can request a platform swap to switch from Windows to Apple, but not for CS5.5 or older.

Hi, Since the last upgraded version of Skype i cannot receive any call between Apple devices and Windows, windows to windows and apple to apple are fine but as soon as you do apple to windows the call drops and causes a faal error on the Windows machine, any suggestions?

Windows, Max ox, Linus are all different operation softwares. So a software designed for one operation system does not work on another. So your only option is to buy them or if they are free just install them.

There are some keyboard commands (shortcuts) you can use instead of having to go to the Apple menu -
Control-Eject          This brings up the Restart-Sleep-Cancel-Shutdown window.
Command-Option-Eject          This puts the machine to sleep.
Command-Control-Eject          This closes all apps and restarts the machine.
Command-Option-Control-Eject          This closes all apps and shuts the machine down.

Did you create a new account or did you update your existing account with a new email address ? You can tap on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Stpre and sign out of it and you can then sign with the new/updated account.
If you did create a new account then your existing content will remain tied to your old account, so only that old account will be able to redownload that content and/or download updates to its apps. If you can't remember the password for it then you can try getting it reset via this page : http://iforgot.apple.com
