Windows 7 and Director - compatibility issues?

I have the old Macromedia Director 7 and Lingo which worked great on XP and Vista - unfortunately it won't work at all on my Windows 7 Home Premium!  I also have Adobe PageMaker 6.5 which also does not like Windows 7 (but as it worked well on the previous Windows versions I was loathe to purchase an upgrade).
I have tried to download the trial versions of the newer Director but nothing happens after you press the 'download' button - frustrating!  I have removed the pop up bocker - I have even turned off my anti-virus software incase that was the issue - nothing works!
Is there ANYTHING happening in the future which will allow these products or their newer versions to run effectively on Windows 7??  This is 2012 for goodness sake - surely an update/upgrade would have been on the drawing board to keep pace with Microsoft?
If someone can assist me I would gratefully appreciate it!
Sahra K

I was just wondering, did you ever get any answers to this. I'm having the same problems with both Director 8.5 and DirectorMX 2004

  • Have acrobat 6.1 and have updated new computer with windows 8  get compatibility issue message

have acrobat version 6.1 bought a new computer with windows 8.  tried to install but got message there are compatibility issues.  Noticed when I push print option dont get the adobe option.

You can try the compatibility setting, but another issue may be if you have a x64 system. AA6 was never designed to work in a 64-bit environment, giving a second level of compatibility to consider. Even on Win7, there were operational issues (like AcroTray not working) and Win8 should just be more of the same and maybe worse. If you can succeed in getting it installed in a compatibility mode, we might then discuss the workarounds you will need. I would strongly recommend you upgrade (well purchase -- too late for the upgrade) to AA XI.

  • AX and WinXP compatibility issue

    Hello,
i got my secondary WinXP Pro C2D SP2 Laptop to work with AX without problems. I can see Loudspeakers in iTunes and also my iPod Touch is seen as a remote controller.
This works both with WLAN and Ethernet cable connected to my ADSL Router.
AX light is green and it doesn't give any errors.
    Problem:
With my primary PC, WinXP P4 SP2, AX doesn't work at all. AirPort Utility doesn't recognize AX to the list. Neither i can see my IPod Touch Remote controller in this primary PC. I wonder if this could be a common problem for both ?
    Equipment and connections:
TeleWell ADSL Modem Router with WLAN 802.11 b/g
Airport Express with 802.11n, ver. 7.3.2
AirPort Utility, ver. 5.3.2 in both WinXP PCs
iTunes 8.0.20 in both WinXP PCs
AX working as a client in existing wireless network
With primary PC i have tried following combinations to get AX to Airport Utility list without success:
    1. PC connected to ADSL Router with Ethernet cable and AX connected to ADSL Router with Ethernet cable
    2. PC connected to ADSL Router with Ethernet cable and AX connected to ADSL Router with WLAN
    3. PC connected to ADSL Router with WLAN and AX connected to ADSL Router with WLAN
Both Windows and my Zonealarm Firewalls are off.
No Firewall active in ADSL router.
WLAN security is off (no WEB/WPA used).
AX gets its IP address and AX is also seen in ARP table. This can be seen in ADSL Router. Ping works normally to AX from both PCs.
After these tryouts i'm thinking if this is somekind of compatibility or 3rd party program issue that i have on my PC. Specially because both iPod Touch Remote controller and AX doesn't work in this primary PC, but they work in a another one ?
I have read already quite a many of threads from this forum but haven't found a similar case.
Does anybody have an idea what this problem could be ? Could some other installed programs disturb iTunes/iPod Touch/AX usage ?
One clear difference there is between the PCs, primary PC (that who's having problems) has German OS and secondary English OS. I doubt anyhow that this could be a problem.

  • Seagate ST9750420AS HDD and W700ds compatability issue

There seems to be a compatability issue with the Seagate 750GB drives (ST9750420AS) and the W700ds (and possibly other W series notebooks).
With the controller set to RAID in BIOS Windows 7 and possibly other OSs can not access the HDDs. This configuration results in a 7B "inaccessable boot device" error BSOD.
Testing revealed only the ST9750420AS with FW 0001SDM5 (the only FW avaible) results in the 7B BSOD regardless of the RAID driver version installed. I have not phiscally removed the Turbo memory device to see if it plays a role in the problem or not.
The W700ds (2757) system I have available to test is compatable with the following Seagate (drives with various FW versions):
    ST9160823ASG
    ST9500325AS
    ST9500420ASG
    ST9500420AS
    ST9640320AS
These were tested with Widows XPP 32bit, Windows 7 64bit and Linux 64 bit, these were tested in both RAID and non RAID configurations.
    And not compatable with:
ST9750420AS, tested with Windosw 7 x64 in RAID configuration.
Any comments, corrections or resolution welcom.
    Thanks

    Hi Jamessts,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I have read your post on installing your HDD to your HP computer, and I would be happy to be of assistance!
To determine your product specifications, I will need to know what the Product and Model Number of your desktop is. The next piece of information I will need is the version of Windows you have on your computer.
Since you stated that the HDD works in another computer, I suggest following this resource: "Windows could not complete the installation..." solved by MarkBeacom. This should help in setting up your HDD for use on your computer.

  • Vista "Problem Reports and Solutions" - Compatibility issues?

The Visa +Problem Reports and Solutions control panel+ is reporting three problems which I cannot seem to be able to find a resolution to.
( So far I've just installed Vista 32 business ed. on my iMac 20". Installed bootcamp drivers, updated bootcamp to 2.1 and applied Vista updates.)
*The Problem Reports and Solutions control panel reports the following:*
    1. Download and install the driver for Apple performance counter
This problem was caused by Apple performance counter, which was created by Apple Inc..
    2. Compatibility issue between Intel 82801GBM (ICH7-M) LPC Interface Controller - 27B9 and Windows. This problem was caused by a compatibility issue between Intel 82801GBM (ICH7-M) LPC Interface Controller - 27B9 and this version of Windows. Intel 82801GBM (ICH7-M) LPC Interface Controller - 27B9 was created by Intel Corporation and is distributed by Apple Inc..
    3. Problem caused by Apple Desktop Null Driver.
This problem was caused by a compatibility issue between this version of Windows and Apple Desktop Null Driver. This product is usually distributed by the company that manufactured your device or computer. Note. If you bought Apple Desktop Null Driver from a retailer and installed it yourself, you will need to contact its manufacturer.
Are these genuine, and if so, is there a solution? No solutions are proposed by Vista itself.

A performance counter is not something that is usually in use by any application except by the developers of the unit itself. nothing to be alarmed about (well, except perhaps that it should have been removed).
A null driver is (as the name indicates) null, there is no functionality assigned with it. MS error message is just brilliant "there is an error in your null driver", like what, there is no functionality in a null driver. So no problems there either.
I got the 2 above error messages on the very first generation 17" MBP for ages and so far not seen any impacts in it for my work.
The Intel issue is interesting, it might be a good idea to see if Intel has an updated driver for the problem.

  • Smartform Main window and Footer Overlap Issue

    Hi,
I have a problem in printing my invoice smartform.
I have to print the footer at the bottom of the main window. If the line items flow to the next page the footer should be printed only on the last page.
I have overlapped the main window and footer windows in first and next page so that the footer window space in the main window is not left empty when there are more than one pages
The problem is sometimes the main window is overlapping into the footer window space.
Can someone suggest a solution for this.
    Thanks,
    Viswas

    Hi,
Solution: The issue faced after overlapping the main window with footer window can be achieved by creating a folder within the main window and using the events to check whether there is enough space to print the footer.
    Following are the steps.
Step 1:  Create a Secondary window say “Footer” which would be the footer window. Overlap the main window on the footer window as shown below.
The footer window will be behind the main window
Step 2:  Create a folder within the main window say “Check_Footer”.
Go to Tab “Events”, select the checkbox “Footer with Height” and give the required height of the footer. Select the checkbox “at End of Table”. Specify the “Minimum height” as required.
Now, go to “Conditions” tab and select the checkbox “Only before end of main window”.
This is basically done to check whether there is enough space to print the footer on that page. The Footer window would then print the output.
Step 3: Go to the created “Footer” window .Under the Conditions tab, select the checkbox “Only after end of main window”. Create a  text/tamplate/window whatever you want to display at bottom or footer data.
Step 4: Save & Activate the Smartform and check the output.
    regards
    Rohit

  • Oracle iLearning 5.0 on Windows and email notifications issue

    Hi!
We are upgrading from iLearning 4.3 to iLearning 5.0 on Windows 2000 server and I have a question related to that.
iLearning 5.0 is certified for Windows.
    The accompanying release.txt states that:
--'Email', 'Email and Web' notifications options for Learner Rating and Authorized Enrollment/Unenrollment are not available on Windows platforms. Only web-based notifications should be used.
Through a Technical Assistance request (TAR Number 4439000.992 ) I've found that this problem is due to the use of Workflow 2.6.2 stand-alone which requires sendmail, which is not available on Windows.
This worries me because I want the system to be able to:
    * notify admin when authorization is needed for enrollment
    * notify course participants about changes or a cancelled course.
    * Certification reminder and expiration
    * Assessment submission
    * Notification to all learners currently enrolled in an offering
The suggested workaround from Metalink is to use a Unix/linux server.
    Metalink suggestion:
"you can set up a notification mailer on UNIX to work with stand-alone Workflow
hosted on Windows. The following MetaLink article is a step-by-step guide on how
to do this: Note:254973.1 How To Configure UNIX Sendmail To Work With Oracle Workflow Running On Windows
This would be useful if UNIX was an option for me. It is not.
    I have some questions:
1)Can I use WorkFlow 2.6.3.5 on windows with iLearning 5.0?
I know Workflow 2.6.3.5 is working with MS Exchange.
2)Can I use sendmail in some form or shape?
IIS 5.0 (or 4.0) has a mail gateway that can be utilized by a sendmail program.
    Sendmail software for windows:

    http://www.ntsendmail.com/
    http://www.windowsitpro.com/Windows/Article/ArticleID/5289/5289.html
Has anyone tried any of theese?
I'd like to make a suggestion to my IT department on how to solve this issue.
Thanx for any help in advance :-)
    Kristian Amlie, Bergen Norway

There are a couple of patches available that allow a customer to upgrade their Oracle iLearning database to 10g and with that, upgrade Oracle Workflow to version 2.6.3 which supports email notifications through workflow on windows.
    Patch #s are 4321769 and 4485520

  • Creative audigy 2 (SB0400) + windows 7 x64 compatability issue.

Hell everyone, I am experiencing an issue with my sound card " the creative audigy 2 (SB0400) model " . I am running running windows 7 x64 bit with all latest security patches and updated drivers where available. However, when using the provided drivers from windows update (WDM), I experience a pause when listening to any type of music files ie: mp3,flac,ogg just to name a few and when playback on several media players, it freezes the sound + mediaplayer for a minute or two, then it will play onward. Also when not playing any media files, I have noticed a crackel pop every so often from my speakers, which can be annoying as well.
Now, I have uninstalled the drivers provided by windows 7 update via " Start button > Computer > Manage " and selected Device Manager Then Sound , Video and Game Controllers and Right clicking on Creative SB Audigy 2 (wdm)? and choosing uninstall making sure the box is checked to also "Delete the driver software for this device" And did a reboot afterwards. After the reboot I have now downloaded the current driver pack from Creative Labs website SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_8_00. It has installed successfully other than the fact that it has detected a previous driver (by windows updates), which I had " thought " it was deleted by windows 7. Now after i have installed the SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_8_00 driver, when going to the speaker icon in the windows 7 tray area and selecting sounds I am annoyed by a message box saying: Windows has detected that audio enhancements for the following device are causing problems: Speakers (Createi've SB Audigy 2 (wdm) )? Would you like to disable the Driver Enhancements for this device ?.
First of all, Why would I want to disable the " Driver Enhancements " for my SB0400 card when the card is supported for it. Are these issues be fixed, if so, please point me to the rigth direction for the proper support for my device. ?
Also, I have been noticeing when playing any type of media file mostly all formats out there the sound will just RANDOMLY stop and freeze.
    computer spec:
    ECS Kn-sli lite vA.0

    60 GB Maxtor HD
    500 GB Hitachi HD
Creative Audigy 2 Value (SB0400) PCI Card.

Not one, **bleep** reply !. Wow. Where is the support ?

  • MacBook Pro & Windows 7 Driver Compatibility Issue

    Good Day,
Yesterday, I was using my Windows 7 Bootcamp Partition in my Mac and found something odd about it. When I opened my "Devices and Printer" window, I saw that the computer icon has a small yellow warning icon (yellow triangle with ! character) saying that one of my Drivers was having problems. I opened my Device Manager but all drivers seem to have been installed properly. Anyhow, I right clicked the Computer icon and clicked trouble shooting and it is suggesting me to install a NVIDIA Driver other than the one that came in the Bootcamp disk. For now I have decided to ignore the computer icon since I don't have any visible troubles in my MacBook Pro. Anyway I would like to ask if these computer icons with warning signs are common in my MacBook Pro model or any other Mac.
Thank You for any help that can be provided in this matter

Well, I can tell you that for the time being I haven't had any kind of problems with USB devices when connected to my Windows 7 Bootcamp Partition. I only use a USB Joystick to play Microsoft Flight Simulator X, I also went and checked the Device Manager on Windows 7 and I have not seen a warning icon on any of the devices. I specifically went to the drivers that are in question and the device manager indicates that the USB drives are working properly. However since this post I had to reinstall OSX and I will be reinstalling Windows 7 sometime this week after finishing installing all the OSX updates that I have in software update, so I'll be posting back soon.
I also would like to ask you if you know, why this issue is happening with Windows 7 when running on Bootcamp?
    Thank You for your Assistance!

  • Mail Viewer Window and Email Opening Issues

About a week ago I began having some significant problems using Mail on 10.5.8 that I have never had before. I opened Mail, only to find that while it opened on my menu bar and I had the little circle indicating it was open in my dock, no Viewer Window opened. Also, I couldn't quit the app without Force Quitting through the Apple menu in the menu bar. I could right click on the icon in the dock and open a Compose Email or a New Note window, however it would not allow me to send said composed email. Instead, Mail would hang and I would have to force quit as "Application not Responding". The beach ball would also be evident and a Force Quit required.
A buddy recommended trying to open a Viewer Window through the File folder in the menu. I did that, a viewer window DID open and mail synced itself up to allow my inbox to show all recent emails I had received and read. Unfortunately, if I clicked on any email in my inbox, it would not load the email in the preview pane or open the email with a double click. Instead I would get a message saying "Loading" and the beach ball reappeared. Force Quit required.
I found some solution somewhere which suggested rebuilding the database by moving the Envelope Index to my desktop from Home/Library/Mail to allow it to rebuild. I did this and it rebuilt a new Envelope Index, but the same problems exist. Frankly, I only have about 100-125 emails in my system so it is not exactly an overburdened mail system. I also do not have any mail haxies which would be causing this. Any thoughts or solutions? I would like to be able to check mail from somewhere other than the Mobile Me web browser app. Thanks.

Not trying to be "That Guy" but I am bumping in the hopes that someone has a solution to this annoying and vexing issue. Thanks.

  • IHome and iphone compatability issue

We just received a nice ihome iH14, which I guess was produced back when the iPhone was not around yet since it doesn't mention anywhere whether it is compatible with the iPhone or not. So I just unboxed it and plugged in my iphone to the dock. A window pops up and it says "This device is not compatible with iphone, would you like to turn on airplane mode to reduce interference?"
Now it is odd that it says this because A) it appears to be charging properly and B) it plays the music out of the speaker and sounds fine.
Now the reason I am on here with this issue is to make sure that this is healthy for my iPhone. Is there anything wrong at all with using this ihome device, or can I just continue using it?
Also, it doesn't really fit well in the dock so it seems like it is just hanging on by the plug, which kind of scares me...are there any adapters made for the iphone also so that it is more snug?
    Thanks!

This happens to me also, so far I have not seen any issues. So just say no, unless you don't want to take any calls etc. And enjoy

  • Since yesterday morning Firefox can not load Facebook. Every other browser works fine. Tried many computers, both Windows and Macs, same issue. Help!

Facebook loads fine on multiple PCs and Macs in any number of browsers but NOT with Firefox on any of them. Started Friday AM. It tries to load but takes FOREVER and never gets "up". Frustrating since FF is my browser of choice despite the fact it has recently become the slowest of all the browsers I've tried. Be nothing like THIS slow. Other sites seem to be unaffected, just Facebook.

What you describe look like a problem of infection, for me.
I have W7 and FF34 as you, and FF is faster than Chromium.
So, except a problem of corruption of the code of your Firefox (and maybe problems generated by some addons or plugins), I' rather believe that there is malware(s) on your computer.
For FB, it could be the adware pushow**.dll, like pushow35.dll, in c:\windows\system32
What security programs do you use on your computer ?
If you want, you could also try to start Firefox in "safe mode", to see if there is a difference of speed and on FB.
