Windows 7 and dual monitors

Hello,
Just bought a new iMac for black friday (woohoo). I know I can install windows 7 but my question is, if I use another monitor(iMac being the primary computer) is windows 7 going to work with my dual monitors? Sometimes I work from home and I need 2 monitors under Windows. I will mostly use the remote desktop connection program from Windows.
Thank you

if you install the apple drivers you make with the bootcamp app in osx or download from apples site sure
been using a 24" dell dvi monitor as second monitor for my imac in windows7 and windows 8 and now windows 8.1
work as well as it does in osx

  • Seamless Windows and Dual Monitor Display

Seamless windows open spanning both display monitors regardless of the settings I use to prevent it. It's like the SGD thinks both monitors are one big display and doesn't open things in just the default monitor. An application that opens maximized will cover both monitors!
Has anyone else had this problem and found a workaround? We are using Windows XP client (Dell laptop), IE6, 2 display monitors (NVidia graphics card), and the application server is Windows 2003, SGD is 4.2.

It is an individual application we are publishing in the seamless window, but that one application launches many applications from there -- it is basically a toolbar for launching a whole host of other applications.

Hello, I have a Mac computer with NVIDIA 750M dedicated graphics card and monitor EIZO but the problem was there when I was working with Windows and Acer monitor. When I open a file from Camera Raw in PS this is smaller than the screen so I double-click with the tool "hand" to fit on the screen, but the picture loses sharpness and becomes blurry. If you magnify the image even only slightly with the tool "zoom" the picture comes back clear. In Camera Raw instead is always sharp. I solve the problem by turning off the graphics card in PS but often use plugin that need the graphics card otherwise the processing time is much longer. I ask for help.
    Thanks.

  • TouchSmart and dual monitors - lag time

I have the HP TouchSmart 320 PC and have set up the connection with a second and third monitor. I had to purchase a seperate piece to connect them. When I first connected them, they were working perfectly. However, I had to take my PC to get it cleaned due to some viruses. Now there is a huge lag time between my main PC and dual monitors. For example: if I play a video, it will not show up on the dual monitor but will play on my main PC. How can I fix this to where they sync up better?

    Hello,
What is the exact model of the 320 PC you have?
What are the other monitors brand and models and what piece have you bought to connect those monitors to your unit?
Can you explain the setup or even provide pictures of the setup?

    Hi there,
I have a personal HP Dv4t Laptop, work has purchased for me a an Elitebook with docking station and dual monitors  - I am trying to figure out when I am using my personal non work PC how to now connect this Laptop to least one of the monitors.
I have a single dongle connected to the docking staition for one monitor, but it's too short and only a single one and not to able attached to my personal laptop.
I know it's probably pretty easy if you are use to configuriung, but I am not. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi ecat,
I wanted the product number so that I could check the specs on your notebook to see what ports you have on your notebook. However, your model is a CTO which means Custom to Order so I can't pull up the specs.
This HP document Using Two or More Monitors with One Computer will show you the types of video connections and how to extend the desktop. This will be a guideline to show you how to setup the external monitor.

  • Mac and Windows with dual monitors Question

I use a Intel MacPro running Tiger with latest updates in my church. We use the Mac and Keynote 2.0.2 to present PowerPoint slides on the big screen (dual outputs). Everything was going well until the pastors upgraded to new computers running Vista and Office 2007. Now neither pastor's files will load into Keynote. It comes up with an error. The pastors have saved their files from PP as 2003 PPT files, and they still will not open. Error - unable to open file type. The one pastor went back to XP (dumped Vista) but still used the Office 2007 program and saved as PP2003, but the error still appears.
FYI - I noticed that Office 2007 saves with a file with the extension of .pptx instead of the .ppt. Checking the file they gave me shows that it is indead a .ppt file and not .pptx file. It makes no difference.
I believe it is an Office 2007 problem I'm dealing with. I have taken the .ppt file and loaded it onto the PC running PP 2003 and it loads fine, except for some format problems. I then resave it with a different name and tried to load that file (hoping it was converted) , with the same error showing. The problem is transfered with the file. Other files created with the PP 2003 program load fine into Keynote, so it has to be the Office2007 doing something.
So the questions are, is there an easy fix and still use the Keynote program, OR does Keynote 3 take care of this problem in the upgrade, OR should I install Win XP home or Pro and use parallels (which I have)? Would WinXP Home be enough to support the dual outputs and be fast enough? I am familiar with XP Pro not Home.
Any information you may have, could be a help. I need this resolved soon. I hate having to bring in the old Windows PC, after enjoying the quality of the Mac.

I have no issues streaming video on demand from all of the media sources which you have listed. My Mac mini is the Early '09, so my hardware is not as powerful as the newest Mac mini.

Thanks David - glad to here the Mini supports dual monitors, and you're not having any streaming issues. Did you have any special settings, like "no hardware acceleration"? Are you streaming HD content?
If it supports dual monitors, then I would think the iPad could be used as a second display and input device - the demos I've seen with Air Display (from Avatron Software") would accomplish what I'm looking for. Here is a demo at http://www.vimeo.com/16950420 showing the iPad working with a Windows machine, but I've seen them working with Macs as well.

  • Windows Photo Viewer and dual monitor slideshow

Why does Slideshow only works on a main display?
why can't i move Photo Viewer to the secondary monitor then start slideshow there? if i do that in Win7 RC the secondary display will turn all black and the main one will start the slideshow.

that seems to have worked for me, but the inactive screen is still blackened, do you think the photo viewer doesn't fully support dual monitors? I also noticed the picture is the same display size as the primary monitor, as in whatever size is is during
a slideshow on the primary is the same when switched to the secondary.
I could juy st tap the window key to get the primary back, but then the unused portions of the secondary revert to the background...this seems like a strong candidate for a windows update that actually changes the way the OS works... can I has some cash
    now?
    hey, MS, WTF?
pictures viewer unable to work with few monitors?
i checked - by pressing "Window Key+Shift and tap either the left or right arrow"
it changes monitor, but other one hold black!

  • HP Pavilion dv7-2250ed and dual monitor setup

    Good evening,
Currently I own a HP Pavilion dv7-2250ed notebook using a dual monitor setup (notebook display + extra monitor)
I wondered if it would be possible to hook 2 monitors to this laptop? (notebook display + extra monitor + extra monitor)
If this causes the problem, the notebook display isn't requered.
Also, if not, is there a dockingstation for this brand which supports the above?
    Kind Regards,
    Cor van Noorloos

I have attempted to connect one monitor via HDMI and the other one via the VGA interface.
Using Windows 7 OS and "default configurations" (Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display\Screen Resolution) it is possible to use both external monitors as desktop. However the laptop screen will go blank. So at any time it appears to be possible to have an extended desktop with only two screens.
    - Does HP have any drivers/solutions that make it possible to extend the desktop from "Mobile PC" display to two additional desktops?
    - Has anyone tried third party software  (e.g.. UltraMon)?
    - Is there a technical restriction (e.g.. Videocard capability)?
    - How about using a Linux OS (e.g.. Ubuntu)?
    - What external Hardware exists that would enable me to extend my desktop to three or more monitors simultaneously?
    Many thanks in advance.
It's the graphics card and the number of physical connections available.  You might have 3 connections (notebook display being one) but the graphics card likely does not support more than 2 monitors.  Intel graphics only support 2, however you may be able to find some AMD chips that will support more however that would be a major upgrade.

  • Video resolution and dual monitor assistance

Trying to set up a show running on a windows XP Pro PC with dual monitor (ATI HD3870 card) so that videos run using Windows Media Player (or maybe something else if needed?) on the second monitor (actually a large projector).
The videos are synchronised to DMX lighting using software so can't just be run from a DVD.
All the videos have been developed using HDV anamorphic PAL 25fps footage but are rendered out using Premiere CS3 at 1280 x 720 (to keep 16:9 ratio at the highest resolution the projector/card (plus VGA extender cable) can handle.
The videos can be launched quite happily on a single monitor system at this resolution and in any format (WMV, AVI, etc). The videos are launched via software using DirectShow (this is 3rd party software). BUT, when outputting to the second monitor the video playback doesn't work at any resolution above 720 x 576. It works fine at 720 x 576, but obviously when projected the image is way smaller than we need.
Note that Windows Media Player will play higher resolution files on the dual monitor but not in full screen mode.
So, the question is where does the problem lie and how can we fix it? Can Windows Media Player not run higher resolutions in dual monitor mode? Do we need a specific graphics card to handle this? Is Windows XP an issue? (PS we had the PC running Vista previously but found that the TMM module in Vista was affecting the screen resolution settings). Do we need to render out of Premiere in some specific way? Has anyone got any experience of something similar?
    Thanks!

Thanks guys. There's no issue with playing the video when launching it direct in Windows Media Player. Its just when launched from the DirectShow API. We've now got a 3rd party looking at that API and have a temporary fix.
So for future reference there are no specific problems with the rendering, codecs or resolutions, but there may be an issue with applications that launch high res media on to a 2nd monitor with the DirectShow API.
    thanks

  • Mac Pro, Leopard 10.5.2, Photoshop CS3, 8800GT and Dual Monitors - Crashing

Hi, I received my Mac Pro (with Nvidia 8800GT) earlier this week and set it up with my dual monitors. I soon discovered that Photoshop CS3 crashes when scrolling a 'zoomed in' image with dual monitors. Photoshop is setup so that all palettes are on the smaller samsung monitor and the main image window I'm working on is on the 23" cinema display.
I've updated both the OS and CS3 but cannot solve the problem unless I switch to a single view setup, ie, drag all the palettes over to the larger monitor so that photoshop is no longer dual monitor. Then it works fine. Although it's a workaround, it's not an ideal situation. Has anyone else found this to be an issue? Have you found a solution?
I've also re-installed Photoshop, visited a genius bar and changed mice!
Thanks, any help would be appreciated.

My Mac Pro had been running 3 Dell monitors on two NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT cards for months, and with the (I think) Safari update all of a sudden the Mac freezes, 1 monitor displays garbledy gook, and the other is blank with a blinking power light. That is, until yesterday when the power light refused to come on. So I says to myself, "Self, how about testing them on my iBook?" The 1704FPT will not power on, plugged in to a computer or not. The 1707FP shakes like crazy when starting up on the iBook, then settles in and seems to work. Meanwhile, the SP2008WFP is working alone on the Mac Pro, but not totally trouble-free. What the heck is going on?

  • Dreamweaver and dual monitor

    Dreamweaver version CS4
    OS: MAC OS 10.5
Issue: I have dual monitors. Sometimes Dreamweaver will open the file browswer window in the left monitor and the title bar, or the top bar of the application is situated above the top of my monitor so I can't access the icons and tools, and there is no way to move the file browsing window because my mouse can't get to the top bar to adjust it. It's stuck on my left screen and I can't move the window.
In photoshop there's a "workspace", but in Dreamweaver I can't see a way to resituate the workspace so that the window in question will once again behave correctly. Any ideas?
Dreamweaver in all its bugginess is the only application that does this. It's like it has the monitor coordinates incorrect.
    thanks

Dreamweaver also has a workspace menu. It's on the Application bar. In the Windows version, all the main menus are on the Application bar, but the Mac version respects the Mac convention of putting the program menus at the top of the monitor. Consequently, the Dreamweaver Application bar has very few items on it on a Mac, so it can be turned off.
To see the workspace menu, turn on the Application bar from the Window menu. Alternatively, use the Workspace Layout submenu of the Window menu, which has all the same options. You should be able to save your own workspace layout. If panels get out of alginment, select Reset <workspace name>.

  • Indesign CS3 Crashes Randomly on Windows x64, Dual Monitor Setup

My coworker and I just had our computers upgraded Windows XP 64-bt on the following computer setup:
    Intel Core i7 920 2.66Ghz CPU
    8GB DDR3 RAM
    Gigabyte GA-EX58 Intel X58 Motherboard
    1TB Seagate ES.2 7200rpm 32MB Cache SATAII Hard  Drive
We're running CS3. Indesign keeps crashing on her machine, randomly from what we can tell. It runs fine on my machine.
We are running Indesign in compatibility mode for Windows XP on both machings (the crashing was much worse before we turned it on).
The only difference between my computer and the workstation where Indesign CS3 crashes is she has a dual monitor setup.
Any thoughts on what might be causing it?

Thanks for the heads up.We're actually kinda banking on Windows 7 to be a bit more stable and switch to that, but it's a long few months when your program crashes every few minutes.
I just realized that we don't have the latest update (5.0.4) on her machine, we've downloaded it and are hoping that will help to at least reduce the crashing...

  • Captivate and Dual Monitor Setups

I am running a dual monitor setup and it seems captivate does
not play too well in this environment. When i record a project, i
select the window that i want to record which is our software
product that is open in full screen. Resolution on the monitor is
1024x768. Id i click the button for Snap to fit, it does not snap
around the program, it captures some of the second monitor and the
Recording size shows 1032x746. I am unable to record a project in
1024x768. Anyone else have this issue??

I have dual monitors and capture on it frequently. I'm not
    sure I've had
the problem you describe, but I almost always just set the
    size manually
(which maybe I do because I had problems with the auto
    settings).
So I select Custom Size the resize the red border to my
    monitor settings...

  • Wacom intros5 and dual monitors not working

I know there are issues with Mavericks, dual monitors & USB, but I have a problem with my Intuos5 tablet: since installing Mavericks it no longer maps to both monitors. Changing settings under monitors and wacom sys prefs does not change anything. It will only map to monitor 1.
in fact mapping under the wacom sys prefs doesn't seem to work at all.

Good grief, but please a) don't use Apple drivers, b) always use the "troubleshoot compatibility" for any installer (control+click on the application) before running. Apple is treated as not supported and won't install (now) with build 7077 (after feedback finding it causes errors, love the way their feedback and testing really does work).
Boot Camp can 'doorstop' in some cases a good installation.

Use Driver Sweeper and then reinstall the latest compatible driver. And no, dual monitors does work.

  • T420 and dual monitors using eGPC?

    Hello all,
I just purchased my first ThinkPad, a T420 (4180 62U).  So far I really love this machine.
Unfortunately for me, I didn't realize that this model does not support dual external displays with the built-in graphics processor.
I was wondering if anyone has had success with using a external graphics card along with the dock so that they can have the dual external monitors and the laptop screen running.
If so, what hardware should I be looking at? I would welcome any advice or recommendations.
    Thanks
    Zim

    Thanks for the quick reply!
I haven't actually tried the dock yet.  I was going to order one, then I read that you had to have the Nvida Optimus graphics card to actually do a dual monitor + laptop screen set-up which my ThinkPad does not have.
It's my understanding that the intel graphics HD 3000 allows another monitor, it just doesn't support tow external monitors.
    Am I mistaken about this?
If so, then I'll be real happy, because using 3 screens will be a great help when using Cisco Packet Tracer simulator, reading instructions and taking notes.
