Windows 7 and HP3030 Laserjet

We purchased an HP Pavillion with Windows 7 For Home.  We already have an HP 3030 Laserjet connected to the Network.  Works fine with the Windows XP.  New Laptop keeps looking for a driver in Windows Update and cannot find a satisfactory driver. What are we missing here?  Help.  Is there a historic issue with HP 3030 Laserjet and Windows 7?  The HP 3030 is about 5 years old.

There are two main areas for issues installing a Laserjet 4 in Windows 7:
Ports.  The Laserjet 4 and its derivatives had a standard parallel port but most Windows 7 machines no longer have a parallel port.  The most common solution is a USB-parallel converter cable.  This can be problematic because many of the converter cables do not support Windows 7.  [Edit - the posts flagged here have models of converter cables users in the forum has reported as working in Windows 7.] Additionally, most of the cables have no documentation (or even a brand name) making it difficult to resolve issues.  The converter may provide a simulated parallel port such as LPT3: or it may be a port like USB001:.  Another option with the Laserjet 4 would be to add a JetDirect card which would provide a network port for the Laserjet 4.  This will require the Laserjet to be connected to a router and would provide network access to multiple computers if you wish.  A typical JetDirect card for the Laserjet 4 is shown here.
Drivers.  The drivers for the Laserjet 4 (and 4M and other derivatives) are delivered through Windows Update.  If Windows Update is enabled (as described in step method 2 here under the section to "Configure Windows Update to"...) you may be able to just connect the USB cable and have the driver properly install.  If not do the following:  click on the Start Orb, Devices and Printers, Add a Printer, then select the appropriate port.  When the list of printers comes up click on Windows Update.  It will take several minutes for the list to repopulate, once this is complete the Laserjet 4 series printers will be available under HP (not Hewlett-Packard).

I have a new laptop with windows 7 and an old (but very reliable) LaserJet 4 Plus printer.  I was able to download print drivers from the HP site but it still will not print.  I don't get any error messages, just nothing happens when I try to print a document or test page.  Do I need to change something else in my settings?

  • Windows Vista and HP Laserjet 6P--installed software but can't print. Item stuck in queue

I have found plenty of answers to my problem relating to Windows 7 but not for Vista.
I picked up a used HP Laserjet 6P which is supposed to be in working order.
I attached the printer with a parallel port-USB adapter and installed the software using the HP Wizard. All looked good but when I go to print, the page stays in queue and the printer windows say Error.
I tried using the HP diagnostic tool but it can't detect the Laserjet 6P.
I tried setting up via a different USB port (USB001 Virtual Port) and creating a new one (Standard TCP/IP Port) but neither worked.
Any idea how I can make this work or is is just too outdated?
    Thank you

    Hi @harleywish
I wonder if the issue might be related to the print spooler rather than a port. Please try bypassing the spooler to see if you can print directly to the printer.
    1. Click on start and go to devices and printers.
    2. Right click on  the printer and click on printer properties.
    3. Choose the option "Print directly to the printer".
    4. Click apply and then ok.
If this works follow the next steps and try to print again.
Hold down the Windows Logo key () on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box
    Type services.msc and press Enter
Locate Print Spooler and double click on it to open the Spooler properties
Make sure startup type is set to Automatic, if it is not please click on the drop down and choose Automatic
Under Service status, please Stop the server, and then wait a moment and click Start
If bypassing the spooler does not result in a successful print, let me know.
Please click the Thumbs up icon below to thank me for responding.

  • Windows 7 and HP Laserjet 1000

We've been using an HP Laserjet 1000 just fine with our Windows Vista Home Premium.  So I just assume it would work with WIndows 7.
So I was startled that the WIndows 7 Upgrade Advisor says the HP Laserjet 1000 isn't compatible with Windows 7.
Is that true?  Or is it, I hope, a false warning?

The Laserjet 1000 is not listed in HP's list of supported Windows 7 printers here, but there is a Laserjet 1000 driver available in the RTM version of Windows 7 (or perhaps through WIndows Update).

  • Windows XP pro and HP laserjet 1020

I've been trying to figure out how to successfully print from a powerbook to a laserjet 1020 that is being shared on XP. Has anyone successfully configured a mac to work with it? If so, can you help walk me through the steps?
    Thanks.

I have a similar problem. I have a 1022,it is attached via USB to my (ugh) Windows XP computer. The Windows box is connected to my router, and I can access and print to the Laserjet via Windows Printing. BUT .... even though I have installed the driver on both the Windows box and the Mac (the HP Laserjet 1022 does not appear on the pulldown menu along with the many otehr HP products) I cannot get it to register as a 1022 when I print from my Mac. I can print ... I lied and told the computers that it was an HP Laserjet 4 ... but my guess is I am losing some functionality. Any ideas? how does one get the 1022 into the dropdown menu?
    Thanks!

Not to be confused with the title of this thread, because this tool will not work with installing most LaserJets, but try the HP Printer Install Wizard and let me know any error messages you get.
I will need to know quite a bit of information before I can be of much assistance, otherwise:
    1.  What error messages are you getting (ex. fatal error 1603)?
    2.  How are you trying to connect the printer (USB, wireless, etc)?
    3. What happened when you used the HP Print and Scan Dr?
Lastly, If you do not answer these questions and others I know I will have, then I wish you the best of luck with your printer installation. Do not be mislead, just because I do not work for HP doesn't mean I'm not an expert.

  • Printer is asking for an user acces code instead of windows login and password?

I have been seeing the HP printers asking(LaserJet M4555 MFP, LaserJet 500 color MFP M575 etc) for user access code instead of windows login and password.
One thing i have noticed  is that when this happens there is a slight change in the EWS page configuration at security -> access control. The device administrator tabe is unchecked as you can see below ehen this happens
Have tried cold resetting the printer and restore facory settings but this does not works and some thimes it does works for a while but the issue is returing back.
We do not need this access code promt instead we need the usual windows login and password that used be there originally.
alsothis is how the settings look like after a cold reset somtimes when it does not  asks for user access code , the problem is cold rese does lways works and it reverts back ois original settings

  • Airport Express Base Station and HP Laserjet 1020 printer connected

    Dear all,
I have a Laptop (PC) Sony Vaio PCG-Z1XSP and an Airport Express Base Station which work perfectly together (internet access and I-tunes). I recently bought a printer HP Laserjet 1020 and connected it to the Airport Express USB soket. I managed to make it work and print a couple of times, but as soon as I turn off the printer or the computer or Airport Express, the next time I want to print, it doesn't work anymore.
The Airport Admin Utility recognises the printer (I can see it listed). I have updated the Airport Express software to the Firmware version 6.3 as well as downloaded the latest driver available on HP's website for my printer. I've also substituted the USB cable. Can anybody help me here? Thank you very much and best regards.

    Hallo everybody,
Thanks for all the answers. I have contacted HP's chat online and gone through the problem with 3 different technicians. I've tried a lot myself too. The issue was partially solved by restarting the printer spooler, i.e. stop, then start and then restart it.
However after I was so happy that the printer worked, I turn off everything. When I turn on again, it was not working anymore. Then I tried to see by exclusion what the problem is, I had to restart the Hardwar I don't know how many times.
    Conclusion:
    1. The USB cable must be plugged into the airport express before turning on anything.
    2. Turn on the printer first.
    3. Turn on the airport express and the computer.
    4. If you try to print it doesn't work, even if you reset the airport express through the airport express utility software. The printer is recognized and appears in it though.
    5. Disconnect the USB cable from the airport express and connect it to the PC directly.
    6. Print a document.
    7. Disconnect the cable and reconnect it to the airport express.
    8. Now you should be able to print wireless. You may need to reset the airport expresst with the utility softwar, but I managed to print without having to do it.
    9. The pörinter works even if you turn off and on again the computer, or you suspend the windows session and restart it, or if you put it in standby and restart it.
    10. The printer works even if you turn off the airport express and the computer, or the airport express alone and restart them/it.
    11. The printer doens't work anymore if you turn it off and onn again. In such a case you have to plug in/out as discribeb above.
Solution: Leave the printer always on, or make the plug in/out every morning when you start the computer and print one page direclty before being able to print wireless.
Does anybody have a solution to this problem? I mean it prints, but it is annoying to plug in/out every day, no?
HP's technician says that it is not a recommanded solution the HP Laserjet 1020 with the airport express, since the printer works on a host based server basis... I mean it is easy to say that, but one expects to buy a printer that works always and not to have to plug in/out everyday, restart spooler and so on.
Can anybody comment or suggest anything I can do to avoid this? Thank you and I hope this helps others too.

  • Printers in RDP Windows 2012 and Ubuntu Linux

Computer 1. Windows Server 2012 Std with RDP Terminal Server
Computer 2. Ubuntu Linux 13.04 with RDP client Remmina and HP LaserJet 1020 Printer
Computers isn't located in one local network. When I connected to the Windows by RDP - I couldnt see any printers (e.g. HP LJ 1020). What should I do to make visible my printers when I connect thru Remmina to Windows 2012 Server? May be add some components
or roles? By the way, when I use Windows 7 to connect to Server 2012, I could see my printer like Remote Desktop Easy Print.

(SOLVED) Problem with printer redirection between Ubuntu Linux 12.04 and Windows 2012R2
    Server - Windows 2012R2
    Clients - Linux Ubuntu 12.04/14.04
RDP client - Remmina Remote Desktop Client (Stable release: 1.0.0).
It turned out that for some strange logic in the connection settings to the server in the RDP client - Remmina must specify sound "local".
Then Printer redirection works and print remotely without problems.

  • Assigning window height and width programatically

    All,
Is it possible to assign window height and width programatically?? ie through editor in SAP scripts.

    Hi
    Yes you can
    POSITION WINDOW
SIZE WIDTH '160' MM HEIGHT '140' MM
    BOX FRAME 10 TW
    Box
BOX HEIGHT '11' MM WIDTH '160' MM FRAME 10 TW INTENSITY 35
    linessssssss
BOX XPOS '20' MM WIDTH 0 TW HEIGHT '140' MM FRAME 10 TW
BOX XPOS '45' MM WIDTH 0 TW HEIGHT '140' MM FRAME 10 TW
BOX XPOS '80' MM WIDTH 0 TW HEIGHT '140' MM FRAME 10 TW
BOX XPOS '120' MM WIDTH 0 TW HEIGHT '140' MM FRAME 10 TW
Boxes, Lines, Shading: BOX, POSITION, SIZE
Use the BOX, POSITION, and SIZE commands for drawing boxes, lines, and shading to print particular windows within a form or passages of text within a window in a frame or with shading.
The SAP printer drivers that are based on page-oriented printers (the HP LaserJet driver HPL2, the Postscript driver POST, the Kyocera Prescribe driver PRES) employ these commands when printing. Line printers and page-oriented printers not supported in the standard ignore these commands. You can view the resulting printer output in the SAPscript print preview.
    Syntax:
/: BOX [XPOS] [YPOS] [WIDTH] [HEIGHT] [FRAME] [INTENSITY]
/: POSITION [XORIGIN] [YORIGIN] [WINDOW] [PAGE]
/: SIZE [WIDTH] [HEIGHT] [WINDOW] [PAGE]
    BOX Command
    Syntax
/: BOX [XPOS] [YPOS] [WIDTH] [HEIGHT] [FRAME] [INTENSITY]
Effect: draws a box of the specified size at the specified position.
Parameters: For each of XPOS, YPOS, WIDTH, HEIGHT, and FRAME, you must specify both a measurement and a unit of measurement. Specify the INTENSITY parameter as a percentage between 0 and 100.
    XPOS, YPOS
Upper left corner of the box, relative to the values of the POSITION command.
Default: Values specified in the POSITION command.
The following calculation is performed internally to determine the absolute output position of a box on the page:
    X(abs) = XORIGIN + XPOS
    Y(abs) = YORIGIN + YPOS
    WIDTH
Width of the box. Default: WIDTH value of the SIZE command.
    HEIGHT
Height of the box. Default: HEIGHT value of the SIZE command.
    FRAME
    Thickness of frame.
    Default: 0 (no frame).
    INTENSITY
Grayscale of box contents as %.
    Default: 100 (full black)
Measurements: You must specify decimal numbers as literal values (like ABAP numeric constants) by enclosing them in inverted commas. Use the period as the decimal point character. See also the examples listed below.
Units of measurement: The following units of measurement may be used:
    TW (twip)
    PT (point)
    IN (inch)
    MM (millimeter)
    CM (centimeter)
    LN (line)
    CH (character).
    The following conversion factors apply:
    1 TW = 1/20 PT
    1 PT = 1/72 IN
    1 IN = 2.54 CM
    1 CM = 10 MM
1 CH = height of a character relative to the CPI specification in the form header
1 LN = height of a line relative to the LPI specification in the form header
    /: BOX FRAME 10 TW
Draws a frame around the current window with a frame thickness of 10 TW (= 0.5 PT).
    /: BOX INTENSITY 10
Fills the window background with shading having a gray scale of 10 %.
/: BOX HEIGHT 0 TW FRAME 10 TW
Draws a horizontal line across the complete top edge of the window.
/: BOX WIDTH 0 TW FRAME 10 TW
Draws a vertical line along the complete height of the left hand edge of the window.
/: BOX WIDTH '17.5' CM HEIGHT 1 CM FRAME 10 TW INTENSITY 15
/: BOX WIDTH '17.5' CM HEIGHT '13.5' CM FRAME 10 TW
/: BOX XPOS '10.0' CM WIDTH 0 TW HEIGHT '13.5' CM FRAME 10 TW
/: BOX XPOS '13.5' CM WIDTH 0 TW HEIGHT '13.5' CM FRAME 10 TW
Draws two rectangles and two lines to construct a table of three columns with a highlighted heading section.
    POSITION Command
    Syntax
/: POSITION [XORIGIN] [YORIGIN] [WINDOW] [PAGE]
Effect: Sets the origin for the coordinate system used by the XPOS and YPOS parameters of the BOX command. When a window is first started, the POSITION value is set to refer to the upper left corner of the window (default setting).
Parameters: If a parameter value does not have a leading sign, then its value is interpreted as an absolute value, in other words, as a value that specifies an offset from the upper left corner of the output page. If a parameter value is specified with a leading sign, then the new value of the parameter is calculated relative to the old value. If one of the parameter specifications is missing, then no change is made to this parameter.
    XORIGIN, YORIGIN
    Origin of the coordinate system.
    WINDOW
Sets the values for the left and upper edges to match those of the current window (default setting).
    PAGE
Sets the values for the left and upper edges to match those of the current output page (XORIGIN = 0 cm, YORIGIN = 0 cm).
    /: POSITION WINDOW
Sets the origin for the coordinate system to the upper left corner of the window.
/: POSITION XORIGIN 2 CM YORIGIN '2.5 CM'
Sets the origin for the coordinate system to a point 2 cm from the left edge and 2.5 cm from the upper edge of the output page.
/: POSITION XORIGIN '-1.5' CM YORIGIN -1 CM
Shifts the origin for the coordinates 1.5 cm to the left and 1 cm up.
    SIZE Command
    Syntax
/: SIZE [WIDTH] [HEIGHT] [WINDOW] [PAGE]
Effect: Sets the values of the WIDTH and HEIGHT parameters used in the BOX command. When a window is first started, the SIZE value is set to the same values as the window itself (default setting).
Parameters: If one of the parameter specifications is missing, then no change is made to the current value of this parameter. If a parameter value does not have a leading sign, then its value is interpreted as an absolute value. If a parameter value is specified with a leading sign, then the new value of the parameter is calculated relative to the old value.
    WIDTH, HEIGHT
Dimensions of the rectangle or line.
    WINDOW
Sets the values for the width and height to the values of the current window (default setting).
    PAGE
Sets the values for the width and height to the values of the current output page.
    /: SIZE WINDOW
Sets WIDTH and HEIGHT to the current window dimensions.
/: SIZE WIDTH '3.5' CM HEIGHT '7.6' CM
Sets WIDTH to 3.5 cm and HEIGHT to 7.6 cm.
    /: POSITION WINDOW
/: POSITION XORIGIN -20 TW YORIGIN -20 TW
/: SIZE WIDTH +40 TW HEIGHT +40 TW
    /: BOX FRAME 10 TW
A frame is added to the current window. The edges of the frame extend beyond the edges of the window itself, so as to avoid obscuring the leading and trailing text characters.

  • Old g4 powerbook and hp laserjet 1018

Printer preferences shows the 1018 is present at ready, but it wont print. The only information I've found apparently requires I be a developer and download a 1gig file. I went with mac because I'm not real technical and my experience has been that it will operate anything. And I'm told this is a great little work horse of a printer. What do I have to do to make this work that wont send me back to school?

    When I double click the
    load laserjet_firmwarev4.comm a terminal window
    opens and I get this...
    Printer HPLaserJet1018:
No printer queue found for HP LaserJet 1000.
No printer queue found for HP LaserJet 1005.
    Cannot locate firmware file.
No printer queue found for HP LaserJet 1020.
    logout
    [Process completed]
    What am I doing wrong?
The above would indicate that you possibly missed step during the installation process of the foo2zjs drivers. At the end of the installation process, a Terminal window should have opened and led you through the process of downloading and installing the firmware file from the internet. That is why there is the line "Cannot locate firmware file" when you try to load the firmware.
    Please do the following:
    1. Mount the disk image that contains the foo2zjs drivers.
    2. Look in the folder Helpers. Locate the file InstallPrinterExtras.
    3. Make sure you are online.
    4. Double click the InstallPrinterExtras file. A Terminal window will open. Follow the instructions. This should download and install the correct firmware file for your printer. If there are any indications that this did not work, please copy all the text in the Terminal window and paste it in a reply to this post.
Once you successfully complete the above, you should be able to use the loadLaserJetfirmware file to send the firmware to the printer.

  • I install window 8 and Unfortunatly all drive format. And all drive mix, now i have only 1 DRIVE C. I want Bit locker Drive's data Back

Last sunday i install a window 8 and this window format my all drive & make it 1 drive (DRIVE C). Before all of this i have 5 drive in different size with 1 Bitlocker protect drive.
So i try data recovery software to recover my data. i got back all my data without that ( bitlocker ) protected drive.
so please guys help me how can i get back data from bitlocker protected drives.
    please please help me.

    Hi,
I sorry for your experience, but there is no way to recovery the data encryped by BitLocker untill now.
BitLocker is designed to make the encrypted drive unrecoverable without the required authentication. When in recovery mode, the user needs the recovery password or recovery key to unlock the encrypted drive. Therefore, we highly recommend
that you store the recovery information in AD DS or in another safe location.
Please refer to the link below for the statement:

  • A hardy ghost of Firefox is apparently running in my computer and I am unable to open Firefox, even after Window restarts and an uninstall/re-install. How do I find and fix this problem?

What happened first is Firefox was revving and using most of my CPU, ultimately "not responding" too easily and for too long, so I closed it in order to reopen it, but Firefox remained running in background (Task Mgr, Processes) after closing, continuing to use almost all my CPU, so I ended the process in Task Mgr.
When I went to re-open it, window opened and told me Firefox could not be opened because another "instance"(?) was still running, to close it or restart Windows. I couldn't close it because I already closed it AND ended the process, so I restarted Windows.
When I tried to open Firefox, I got the same pop-up. I think I restarted Windows one more time, and then uninstalled Firefox, except for my personal settings (in order to save the bookmarks, which I couldn't find in the Firefox folder in Program Files (only Favorites, which were not my bookmarks; I later wondered if they were part of the Firefox add-on "Add This" --??).
I then uninstalled Firefox and re-installed it. When I tried to start the newly re-installed program, I had the same pop-up telling me Firefox was already running and to close it or restart Windows.
I searched my computer folders for anything that might help, did a Search of the computer for "Firefox", and was given some Firefox folders and if they weren't from the new re-install, I deleted them. One thing I noticed was that the program folder did NOT have the program (Firefox.exe) icon to start Firefox.
I uninstalled Firefox and had to resort to using Internet Explorer, which I do NOT like. My rich library of bookmarks are who knows where.
I don't know if this is related, but in searching my computer's Administrative Services and Component Tools (and the like) hoping to find something that would help me fix Firefox, I inadvertently learned that "MMC could not create the snap-in. The snap-in might not have been installed correctly. Name: .NET Framework 1.1 Config."
Please help me get Firefox back and figure out what is going on in my computer that led to this. I am a basic user and not techno-computer saavy, so if anyone can help me with this, please give me step-by-step bonehead instructions.
Thank you so much for any help you can offer!

Make sure that Firefox is set as the default browser.
