  • Windows recognizes ipod nano (1st generation) but itunes doesn't

I'm a happy owner of ipod nano for about a year. My itunes and ipod nano was working perfectly until few days ago I encountered problems with both of them.
I fixed my itunes (which kept showing an error message when I tried to uninstall/repair it) but after i got that fixed my itunes couldn't detect my ipod nano.
I looked at a directions page in this website and it told me to "press start service" in something. (i forgot what that "something" was)
Whenever I connect my ipod nano to my itunes, the ipod folder & error message about "ipod service module" pops up.
I'm DESPERATE to fix this problem. So please answer my question and thank you. =]

One of the services in Windows that has to be on is iPod Service. If that service doesn't stay started, iTunes won't see the iPod.
Go into your services (administrative tools, services) and scroll down until you see it. If the service doesn't say started, right-click on it, choose start. In properties, it should show as automatic.
While I know you already reinstalled iTunes, another reinstall of it might put the service back in the correct mode of starting whenever iTunes needs it.

  • Syncing iPhone and ipod nano toi the same iTunes

I have an iPhone (16GB) and and Ipod nano (4GB) and about 9GB of content in my iTUnes. IS it possible to sync both these to the same iTunes library on the same pc. All the iTunes content is on the iPhone but it is too much for iPod nano. I use the two for different things for eg: the nano has nike Plus on it and I also use it for gym etc
in Effect, can you have 2 different libraries to sync with different ipods on the same PC and iTunes

Yes, you can use multiple devices with one library, I use 2 regular iPods and a shuffle (I have a friend who syncs both an iPhone and a Nano, she syncs each with it's own separate playlist). You can for instance have one sync the entire library and another sync a selected playlist or playlists. iTunes recognises each device that is connected and they can each have their own individual settings: There are several different ways to use multiple devices with one computer, you can read more heres: How to use multiple iPods with one computer

  • Synch between iPad, iPhone and iPod nano

When I buy music on ITunes from iPad, how can I transfer the music to my iPhone and iPod nano without using a PC?

With an iPhone then if you are in a country where music can be re-downloaded then it should appear in the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app on your phone. For the Nano you can't, you will need to copy the music from your iPad to your computer's iTunes via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases and then sync it to the Nano (and similarly for the phone if you aren't in a country where music can be re-downloaded) - you can't connect either of them to your iPad for direct trasnfer.

  • Why is the Nike   apps different on the iTouch and iPod nano

Can someone explain why Apple put different apps on iTouch and iPod nano and call it only Nike +. There are obvious difference in the apps. I want the app that stores heart information...but the Nike + app on the iTouch only records distance ran. Why not make one app that does both?
what is the deal and can I load the Nike + app that comes on the nano on my iTouch 4gen?
Will the Nike + app for the iTouch be upgrade to work with the Polar heart band and Nike + Gym?

    Yes and Yes.
When I navigate to Notification Center in Settings from an iPhone 4:
    Notifications view - on
    Today view - on
    Today summary - on
    Calendar day view - off
    Reminders - on
    Stocks - off
    Tomorrow summary - off
    Sort by Time
The only apps I don't include are third party and have nothing to do with weather.
Usually when I swipe down on the Today view it's only giving me the date.
Thanks for taking the time to help me!

  • Ice-Link Plus and iPod Nano 3G

    Hi,
I've been using an Dension Ice-Link plus and iPod Nano 1G in my Alfa GT for two years without any problem. Now I'm thinking in buying a new Nano 3G but I don't know the Ice-Link is fully compatible with the new Nano 3G.
The Dension Support hasn't answer yet to this question.
I suppose it will be as the base connector haven't changed but I'd like to know if someone in this forum could confirm it or not.
    Thanks,

I use the Ice Link Plus in my BMW, and I can confirm that the Nano 3G indeed works with my system. Ought to work with yours aswell.
Must say that I'm a bit disappointed on Dension aswell... they could have done this test and written some info on their site. Buying the Nano 3G was a bit of a gamble for me =)

  • Windows vista 64 bit and ipod nano

Hi, we are having problems getting our 3 new ipod nano generation 5 to work on our windows vista computer. Itunes won't recognize them have tried to uninstall itunes but get a message to verify we have sufficient access to that key, or contact support personnel, and then we click ok and it stops the uninstall does anyone know how to correct this problem or what we need to do to get the ipods to work on itunes with windows vista 64bit computer? I saw an answer for a 32bit computer but read that it is different for a 64bit computer. Thanks!

I, too, am having the same problems. Very frustrating to have a nano 4 generation that needs only the latest iTunes software but a computer that requires 64 bit software.
If you get an answer, let me know. I even paid to have music loaded on my nano ipod yesterday and because it was attached to my computer, when I booted up, it somehow went to checkdisk mode and cleaned all the music out! Am ready to throw it out and get a non-Mac ipod instead. But if you have THE answer, I'd really like to hear about it. Thanks.

  • MS Windows Professional 2000, SP3 and IPOD Nano drivers

I've just received my new iPOD nano and trying to instal software on my laptop I found that it requests SP4 that I couldn't install on my laptop due to policy requirements.
Could I download any previous release or what can I do?I have Administration rights, too so do you advise me to instal SP 4?
Thanks a lot for your help,
    Ciao Matz

    Welcome to the forums.
Well, if your laptop is not yours, and your not supposed to install anything new on it, such as SP4, then I wouldn't advise you to break the rules.
If you have Admin rights, meaning you are allowed to do things, cause you are admin, then go ahead, cause the service packs are designed to make Windows run better. The service packs don't hurt, they help.
    Hope this helps!

  • Windows Vista iPod Nano Issues

I just bought an iPod Nano 8GB today and when I tried to connect it to my Windows Vista System after installing iTunes, I get an "Add new Hardware" wizard asking me to install the driver for the iPod which obviously doesn't work.
Of course, I've tried the 5Rs several times and none of them work. Asking here is my last resort.
I know there are currently issues with Vista but clearly this isn't one of those listed under the article on the site. So I was wondering if this is only specific to my PC.
Thanks in advance to whoever who can help.

  • Problems with iTunes 8 for Windows, 1G iPod Nano

i'm running iTunes 8.0.1.11 on my Windows XP Pro SP3 desktop, using it to manage my 1G iPod Nano 4GB software version 1.3.1.
ever since upgrading to iTunes 8, i've had a few issues with the way it syncs (or doesn't sync, in my view) with the iPod:
    1: podcasts.
prior to iTunes 8, the two most recent unplayed episodes would sync and delete after play - "play" being defined as starting to play the podcast. i didn't have to listen to the entire podcast for it to be removed. this worked for me, because many of the podcasts i listen to are news highlight shows (some run almost 2 hours). i'm usually only listening to specific parts of the show, not the whole thing.
now, if i haven't listened to the entire thing, it doesn't delete. not only that, iTunes doesn't even automatically throw away listened podcasts from the computer anymore. not so big a deal on the computer (it's got plenty of disc space), but on the teeny-tiny iPod, it's a problem.
so now i don't listen to podcasts on my iPod anymore. is there a fix so i can take my news with me again?
    2: music playlists.
prior to iTunes 8, when i synced a playlist to the iPod, it synced the playlist's +current order+. in other words, if it was shuffled in iTunes, it was synced to play in the shuffled order.
not any more. now, it only passes the "base" order of the playlist; i.e., whatever order it was "built" or manually arranged in. this is bloody aggravating. i don't want to listen to the same ten songs every time i hit play.
adding insult to injury, iTunes also no longer passes whether the playlist is set to repeat. so it stops playing after the last song. also extremely aggravating.
i realize that i can select "Shuffle Songs" in the iPod's menu. but since this shuffles all the songs on the device, it somewhat defeats the purpose of having bleeding playlists, doesn't it?
i realize Apple wants me to buy the newest, bestest hardware every time it comes out. but i like my old iPod, and it did exactly what i wanted and expected. until iTunes 8. so, any fixes for these issues out there?

This is a well-known issue. Apple changed the internal file names used with iTunes 8, which makes the ordering on 2nd generation Shuffles behave differently. There is no good workaround, apart from moving the files with a hand-crafted AppleScript program.
Apple has been silent on the issue, so nobody knows if we'll ever have a fix for it or not.

  • How to use Windows formatted iPod nano to move music to a new Mac?

    Hi all,
I need to transfer my iPhone's musics, songs, apps and photo, etc to the Mac and I came across this http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1329" guide at Apple Support site since I owned a iPod nano.
My questions is since my iPod nano is configured for Windows will the Mac be able to read it since it's stated clearly in the guide "While a Windows formatted iPod may work on a Mac, Apple supports this configuration only with iPod shuffle."
If I follow through the guide, 1. Switch the iPod to manual update and enable disk use, 2. Locating and consolidating the iTunes Media folder, 3. Copy iTunes folder to iPod. I will still need to restore the iPod to work in Mac and end up nothing left inside meaning songs, photo all erased.
Also, anyone using third party software like http://www.fadingred.com/senuti/ Can advise if it's good to use this? And if iPod nano configured for Windows can works with this?
Need other more solution other this to transfer the mentioned data to Mac.
    Thanks.

iPhone… iPod… iPod Nano… which one it is? You are trying to transfer music from what source, using what medium, and to what target?
    I came across this http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1329"
it's stated clearly in the guide "While a Windows formatted iPod may work on a Mac, Apple supports this configuration only with iPod shuffle."
Where exactly is this stated? I am unable to find this statement in the KB article you mentioned. And are you talking iPhone or iPod? This KB article applies only to iPod.

  • Using a Windows formatted iPod Nano (4th Gen) with Bootcamp on a Mac(Win XP

Hey I was wondering if anyone knows if you can use a previously formatted iPod Nano (4th Gen) with a Mac that has XP Bootcamped on to it. If the Nano is placed in manually manage music with the original computer it was formatted with, will it be able to accept music, movies, podcasts, etc from the windows on the Mac or will they still be incompatible?

Well, I have 4 internal drive bays filled already, is there room somewhere for 5th one in the box? I wasn't aware of it if there is?? My mac is MacPro3,1, early 2008.
That macsales.com link is interesting but I'm not in the US (I'm in Croatia), and all those brands are supidly expensive here, that $80 esata docking station is almost $200 here... bahh. For that price I may as well buy a whole new 3TB external disk, I want to dock the old one to save money.
I've browsed around and I've found Icy Box docks, which have much more reasonable prices:
    BOX IB-110StUS2-B
    ICY BOX IB-111StUS2-Wh
    ICY BOX IB-115StUS2HC
They all claim to have OSX support... anyone have any experience with them?
