Windows 7 and Wireless N

I'm on my second USB wireless N network device and my PC on Windows 7 is still only operating on B and G. I have tried to set the time capsole to manually seperate the 2.4ghz from the 5ghz, but my PC still doesn't see the 5ghz network.  My new TV and my tivo both can connect to the faster channel.
I believe there is an issue with the network settings on my PC but I am not sure what to change. I have a bufflow adapter WLI-UC-GN.
My Macbookpro also has no trouble connecting at 300bps. Is there some kind of conflict between the apple and windows software? Has anyone
had a simular situation to mine and fixed it?

...but my PC still doesn't see the 5ghz network...I have a bufflow adapter WLI-UC-GN....
Does it support 5GHz?  If the below link is the correct user manual, it only mentions 2.4 and not 5GHz.

  • Windows 7 and Wireless Printing

We have two xp machines that print fine to a wireless printer through wireless sonicpoints. But when we print through the W7 it only prints half a page and restarts. The printer is completely recognized on W7, I have turned off and on the Windows firewall and made exception. I'm wondering if there is some issue between W7 and the Sonicpoints. The sonicpoints have been recently upgraded on their firmware Any help would be appreciated.

    OK, sorry about that.
Do you have a security system firewall that you can disable to test (Norton, McAfee, etc.)?
I assume you can type the printer's IP address into a web browser and "see" it?

  • Home Sharing Between Mac and PC with Windows Vista and Wireless Ethernet

    Hello.
I want to ask if anyone knows what is the problem.
I have Home Sharing Activated in my two computers and File Sharing Activated too.
My MacBook Pro has iTunes 10 and Snow Leopard all updated and my PC has Windows Vista and iTunes 10.
My MacBook Pro is connected to my network wirelessly and my PC is connected by the Ethernet Cable.
    Anyone can help?

since you don't describe the problem in detail, see if something here helps:
what you want to see in iTunes is this (view from my MBP's iTunes seeing the library on my Mini)
if you then click on the house icon, it will change to this and the shared library will load. at that point, two buttons will appear in the lower right corner of the iTunes window, being settings and import
now you should be able to import any content from any shared library by selecting the content and clicking on import.
if the icon looks like this , home sharing has not been set up correctly.
in order for home sharing to work
    (a) iTunes on all machines must be authorized for the same iTunes store account
    (b) all machines must be on the same network
    (c) all machines must have access to the internet.
if none of the above makes a difference, try turning home sharing off on all computers, then turning it back on.
these reads will be useful: one and two.

  • Windows 7 and Wireless Mighty Mouse, Wireless Keyboard and sound problem

    Hi,
I just installed Windows 7 x64 Ultimate on my iMac 24" white ( OS X Leopard 10.5 ). Surprisingly, it installed without any problems. The only problems I have now are the Wireless Mighty Mouse and the Wireless Keyboard ( alu ).
After I installed Windows I inserted the Leopard Instal DVD and installed Boot Camp. I got a message right away saying that: "This program has known compatibility issues...". I clicked Run program and continued. Soon I got the same warning, but this time not for Boot Camp, but Intel Chipset Device Software. I clicked Run program yet again and it continued installing. Then I got a different warning: "Service KeyAgent' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." I clicked Ignore and installation continued. I got another "Service Mac HAL' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." warning, clicked Ignore again and after that it finished soon and I restarted the computer.
When I came back into Windows there was no Apple folder anywhere or any sign that I have just installed Boot Camp ( should there be? )
I installed Boot Camp Update 2.1 for Windows XP ( because Vista x64 version wouldn't start ) and basically I got the same warnings I did when I installed Boot Camp from the Leopard DVD ( described above ). I also tried to instal Boot Camp Update 2.2 for Windows, but it didn't start. I also downloaded Bluetooth Update 1.0, but all I got was a message saying: "This update is not intended for this computer and will not be installed.".
    There is also no sound.
This is basically it, I really hope some of you who run Windows 7 with wireless keyboards and mice can help me, because I desperately need this to work ( I use a Windows only program for school ).
PS. I have a 2007 iMac 24" white and while it is not on the we're-not-supporting-that list for the infamous Windows 7 Boot Camp update, all other iMacs from its generation are. Any ideas?

Found a solution for the "Boot Camp x64 is unsupported on this computer model" message. Here is the link: http://www.techulous.com/hardware/how-to-apple-boot-camp-64-bit-for-windows-7-on -unsupported-macs.html

  • HP Officejet H470btw with Windows RT and wireless

    Hi,
I am trying to think of a workaround to get my Windows RT to print wirelessly to my HP Officejet H470btw. I have a HP bluetooth USB adapter but not the WIFI one. Even though the printer appears in the Control Panel - Devices and Printers via USB and Bluetooth, I get a message that it's 'not compatible with this version of windows'.
So I take it then that the driver is not available for RT and no matter what print server hardware wireless connectivity workaround I do, even with AIO Sofware, my printer will never been seen  by Windows RT ARM tablets.
    Am I correct?
    Thanks

    Hi LeeJenson,
Wishful thinking on my part I guess
I did a little more digging and found the following information from this document; Supported Printers for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1
Looks like this confirms your original statement.
"So I take it then that the driver is not available for RT and no matter what print server hardware wireless connectivity workaround I do, even with AIO Software, my printer will never been seen  by Windows RT ARM tablets.

  • Re: Equium L40 - Windows 7 and wireless switch

I upgraded my Equium L40 to Windows 7 and now the hardware wireless switch and Function-F8 don't switch the WLAN on and off. It's permanently on.
Also, although enabled in Windows 7 power options, shutting the lid won't put thecomputer to sleep. If I shut it it turns the display off but doen't carry out the Windows 7 options.
When I upgraded to Windows 7 I chose the option to do it as a fresh installation and so lost my Vista installation.
I did download any drivers for Windows 7 from the Toshiba website, although there weren't many.
Is there something else I need to do to make the WLAN swich and lid work with Windows 7? Any help gratefully received.
    Cheers,
    Ray D

I did a clean Windows 7 install. I had previously downloaded the Windows 7 drivers from the Toshiba web site and installed them after Windows 7, although most of them were older than the drivers Windows 7 had installed. There were surprisingly few Win 7 drivers for my computer on the web site.
I didn't do them in any particular order, although I remember that the added value one I tried last and it gave the error I mentioned above.
Where can I find the order they should have been installed in? I couldn't find any documentation from Toshiba about how to install Windows 7.
    Cheers,
    Ray D

  • Solution centre not working for windows 7 and wireless all in one, altho can print ok

I have installed an officejet 6500 wireless all in one on my HP Elitebook running Windows 7 64 bit.
Although the printer installed - albeit with an error for Microsoft.net4 that was resolved after a re reboot - HP Solution Centre v14 wont start. Indicated device installation wasnt complete, plugged in USB and tried to uninstall/re-install all same thing.
Ran Network, scan and print utilities and have MacAfee and firewalls all dis-abled during install. After the error pop up it just closes.
The printer works fine and I can scan through the webscan option but what's happened to solution centre?

    Great information.

  • W530, windows 8 and wireless dropping

Have had the laptop 1 week and
    1) can't keep the wireless connection from dropping every hour or so. Have tried every permutation of advice on the forums. Unclick "allow applications to turn off device", different combinations of wireless channels, frequency bands, etc. Nothing works. Adapter drops the connection and then the computer requires a hard reset. Have never had any issues with my x220 with the exact same router.Again, my x220 has absolutely zero issues with the exact same router. And my wife's mabook pro, and 2 iphones.
    2) the sound is full of interference when I attach external powered speakers. Very annoying. Same speakers plugged into my x220 there is no noise.
    3) The fan at idle is simply too loud. sloppy engineering.
this thing is a complete mess. sending back on Monday.

In regards to Wifi - Try downloading the wifi drivers directly from the Intel website and install those instead of the ones Lenovo provides.  I had the same problem with the 'updated' Lenovo wifi drivers dropping out constantly.  After installing the Intel ones, the problems are gone.
I have the Intel Ultimate-N 6300 card in my W530.

  • Windows 7 and Wireless Guest Access

Dear All, one of my Customers uses 4400 based Guest Access Solution with L3 Webauth. With XP everything works Fine. Since the Migration to Windows 7, Guest Access is not working correctly. It takes a long time to get an IP Address via DHCP, sometimes it idles to 169.xxx. If an IP Address is provided, the Redirect will not work. Has anybody seen similar Problems with Win7 or a Solution?

  • Windows 10 and Drivers/BIOS for HP Pavilion DV6 7112HE Entertainment Notebook

Hello, I recently updated to Windows 10. I wanted to know if HP is working with Intel on releasing new drivers? Also, how about a Windows 10 BIOS update for my laptop? I do not have the option to revert back to my previous OS, it would be nice if anyone can shed light on this issue.

That is where you will find a updated driver from the hardware manfacture site not from HP at this point in time. UE wrote:
Updated HP Pavilio DV6 yesterday to Windows 10 and Wireless stopped working. F12 button stuck to orange and cannot turn on Wireless. My laptop has Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030 adapter and there is no new Windows 10 driver software available. Still searching for the solution...This is part of the problem with upgrading to Windows 10 some of your hardware will be compatible and some of it will not be. What you need to do is install the last Windows drivers again into Windows 10 and if it works you will know. I am aware that drivers for Intel are released through Intel, and pushed through Windows Update. However, the issue at hand is also the BIOS which has nothing to do with Intel, hence the topic title. Thanks for your response.

  • Itunes and wireless devices no longer show up in upper right corner of itunes window

Help! My Internet service was interupted last week and when it returned my iTunes and wireless devices no longer show up in upper right corner of the iTunes window.  I finally figured out how to get both of my wireless devices to show up on the left hand column under devices, but nothing else shows up now in the upper right corner!  I cannot for the life of me figure this one out and the tech manual is not helping at all.  Help!

If you have the left-hand sidebar showing then that is where the store and your devices will show can be selected - if you press option-command-S if you are using a Mac, control-S on a PC, then the sidebar should be hidden and the store and device should go back to the top right. Is that what you mean ?

The problem is not the router.. the issue is the vpn has put your computer in a different IP range with a different gateway. When you turn off the vpn the computer returns to local lan and can print.
Some vpn software allows you to set gateway to use local net instead of remote gateway or access to other webistes or local lan.
    Read up the issue.
    http://stevejenkins.com/blog/2010/01/using-the-local-default-gateway-with-a-wind ows-vpn-connection/
    Cisco vpn client..
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/239113
I did not search much.. just grabbed the first article I could find that explains the issue.
The whole point of the vpn is whilst it is connected your computer is NOT part of the Local Lan .. it is part of the Remote LAN via the vpn tunnel.
It is also a security risk using split tunnelling so often it will not be allowed.
Plug the printer directly into the computer via usb or whatever.. Local connection will work.. not local lan.
