Windows 7 - annoying can't create temporary file popup

Hallo,
sorry for my weird question - but after upgrading to Windows 7 (new computer) I'm still bothered by this error message (see picture) - even though I have (checked several times) the rights on the folder set correctly (ownership by my account, full access). Have anyone some hints? This popup is very annoying. Thank you,
George

Hi,
Unfortunately I have no success with beating this - even when building an application from scratch (also in different location). To be honest, I'm not expert on W7, english is not my mother tongue and the documentation is due the translation of terminology hard to understand. The hint to edit "user rights assignment" does not give me any guidance how to check/edit, because the I don't know what is the root process, which need to write the temporary file (any other files are successfully written).
But I can't agree that this is not a problem CVI, because popup window (having the meaning to inform user of some internal IDE problem) blocks the run of developed application.
Cheers,
George
I forgot to add this: in the referenced directory (see attachement above - "...\cvibuild.Terno") CVI IDE stores other files - like build.ini, dependencies.bri - and also creates additional subdirectories debug, release. I think that the error message displays invalid information ... and I'm digging in the wrong grave ...

  • Can't create temporary files to open attachments

"Can't create file RFI Detailed-With Routing Information.pdf. Right-click the folder you want to create the file in, then click Properties on the shortcut menu to check your permissions for the folder."
My co-worker receives this message when she tries to open some PDF files from one sender. The co-worker is able to open PDF attachments from all other senders except this one. Now, I have checked her folder permissions for the temp folder, as well as parent folders and the permissions allow full control everywhere I have checked. This wouldn't be so strange, except she forwards the emails to me and I open them just fine.
We have tried repairing the installation through Adobe. We have even uninstalled and re-installed the application with no change. There are no other adobe versions installed. The only thing I can find that is not typical is that she can't install security update 8.1.2.

How is she trying to open the file? Has she saved it to disk first and then selected it for opening? Can anyone else open the file? I am assuming that she is simply trying to open directly from her mail package and the first step is to save it to disk and try that. If it opens when saved to disk, then it is likely an OS issue, not an Acrobat issue.
For more information it would be helpful to know what OS, what application (assume a mail package) is in use, and how she is trying to open the file. There is just not enough information without making assumptions. However, some simple tests of not opening directly, but saving first are always good ideas to try.

I installed the CC trial with an error window saying: Could not create the file '/Users/dranim/Library/Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/13.2/dummy'.  That was the first window.   Heres the second: After Effects can’t continue: unexpected failure during application startup  I paid for the month subscription of 29.99. It claims it is downloading again?! Am I missing something here? Why is this process so complicated? I need to get this resolved asap and start working.

I originally had Adobe Photoshop Extended, then upgraded to the Production Suite. I ran the Adobe Cleaner, and that uninstalled most Adobe products, including my existing Adobe install, and then I re-installed everything with the same error code. Since CS4 came with CS5, I've installed AE CS4, but would really like to upgrade because I'm new to Creative Suite, and not sure how CS4 integrates with CS5...CS4 After Effects installed perfectly. I do have a 64 bit system, and installing to an OCZ Vertex 2....every other suite installs perfectly, except AE. And I think that is the coolest program in the Suite. I thank you all so much for taking the time to help, I really want to get AECS5 running...I did try to install after doing the recommended items Adobe suggests for Exit Codes 6 and 7, including turning off many startups...
    I'm baffled....

  • Disk Utility - Erase Free Space - Creating Temporary File Freeze

I used "Erase Free Space" with Disk Utility after trashing several files I no longer wanted on the hard drive or recovered.  I used  "Zero Out Deleted Files" option.  It took over 12 hours before an error message appeared "Your start up disk is almost full.  You need to make more space available on your start up disk by deleting files."   I thought that was what I was doing.  Disk Utility continued but got stuck on "Creating Temporary File."  I force quit Disk Utility after several more hours.  I had to manually shut down the computer because the restart command wouldn't work.  It rebooted and appears to be OK.   Evidently, this temporary file consumes significant amounts of disk space. This is an older iMac with 10.4.11 (18 GHz PowerPC G5) - I know, pretty old but I still have OS 9 on it and several files I need to extract before I trash it.
    1.  Should I do nothing?  The iMac seems to be working fine.
    2.  How do I know if this Temporary File exists and consuming space?  Spotlight doesn't find it.  Where is it?
    3.  Is my start up disk in fact almost full?  How would I know that?
    Thanks!

Then I would not do any secure erasing. It's exceptionally time consuming and unnecessary. Before you take it in for recycling boot it from your OS X installer DVD. Do this:
    Drive Partition and Format
    1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
A one-pass Zero Data option is all that is required to prevent access to your erased files.

    Hello,

Increase the value in the ReportApplicationServer Services in the CMC for "Number of database records to read when previewing or refreshing a report". The value -1 is for unlimited records but not recommended for performance.

Can you please let me know is there anything missing.

    Hi,
We face the same problem with some BI4 reports.
The same report works well with the "Crystal Reports Viewers API", as used in Infoview, but not with the "Report Application Server (RAS) API".
This error appears after some time working on a report. If we reproduce the same report, but from zero, no problem.
    Hope it can help.

  • After upgrade to CF9, CFIMAGE "Unable to create temporary file" error

We recently upgraded from CF8 to CF9 Enterprise.  I'm getting an "Unable to create temporary file" error on
my CFIMAGE resize calls.  We use sandbox security.  I assume I need to grant write access to whatever folder CF uses for temp files, but which folder is it?   The same code (and sandbox settings) ran fine in CF8....
Note, if I attempt to add C:\JRun4\servers\cfusion\SERVER-INF\temp to the sandbox for this particular app, CF crashes on all requests across all apps on the server with a:
Security: The requested template has been denied access to C:\JRun4\servers\cfusion\cfusion-ear\cfusion-war\WEB-INF\cfclasses\cfapp2ecfc1510154633.c lass.
The following is the internal exception message: access denied (java.io.FilePermission C:\JRun4\servers\cfusion\cfusion-ear\cfusion-war\WEB-INF\cfclasses\cfapp2ecfc1510154633.c lass read)
ColdFusion cannot determine the line of the template that caused this error. This is often caused by an error in the exception handling subsystem.
I need to restart CF to get everything working again.

Another update.   Had a problem with a sandboxed CF9 site doing a simple CFIMAGE READ to a memory variable.  Got an "Unable to create temporary file" error.
Inserted the following code in the file upload page:
    <cfscript>
    writeoutput("Temp Dir : " & createobject("java","java.lang.System").getProperty("java.io.tmpdir") );
    </cfscript>
... and it reveals the temp directory as C:\WINDOWS\TEMP.  Added that to the sandbox, and the CFIMAGE READ is working properly now.
Note this seems inconsistent with CFIMAGE RESIZE behavior which appears to use the CF GetTempDirectory() value, which in my case is C:\JRun4\servers\cfusion\SERVER-INF\temp\cfusion-war-tmp\

You have to change registry settings by going through REGEDIT. Under hkey_local_machine/software/oracle/<oracle home>, look for variable REPORTS_TMP. Change value for this, for example c:\windows\temp or something like that where you want oracle reports to create temp files.

Please help... I need to copy to a disk... it was working fine until I attached a big project, I tried to delete the project, but still not workng.

1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your

2 - delete iWeb's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your

3 - launch iWeb and try again.

If the repair does not do the job, then try a different job settings in the printing process. The error you are getting comes from the Distiller step of the PDF creation. You can go in steps if you wish by trying to print to file. Then opening that file in Distiller to see that happens.
