Windows 7 apple drivers wont install on Boot Camp

When i go to install the drivers off the disc i get this error. "An error occured installing the package. Windows Installer returned '1620'." Has anyone had this problem? please help
Im on Lion and installing to windows 7 professional

Pull all but the drive Windows will go on.
To use dual processor you'd want Windows 7 Pro x64 (System Builder $129)
In fact, you don't even need Boot Camp Assistant when installing on a dedicated drive, just boot Windows DVD and format the drive and partiton as you like.

  • Windows 7 wont install in boot camp

Hi, I just completely wiped my MacBook and reinstalled Leopard and it's working fine and I wanted to use Boot Camp with Windows 7 Professional and i had it all going well until I was installing Windows and it said that it can only install on a NTSF formatted drive, any idea how i can specify which format the partition for Windows is?

It's easy. After installing Windows, eject the Windows disc (start your Mac holding the trackpad), insert the Snow Leopard DVD and Windows will ask you what to do with the DVD, so select the option to open the .exe file and follow the steps.
You can't use a Mac OS X Leopard DVD to install Boot Camp drivers in Windows 7. If you haven't got a Snow Leopard DVD, you have to buy Snow Leopard > http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard

  • Windows 7 wont install on boot camp

    I am on a Mac Pro 8 Core Xeon, 8gb, 3 hdd's, OS 10.6.8  Bootcamp 3.0.4
I run Boot camp setup, partition a drive in bay2 (tried both a single partition and mac/win partitions)..I start the Windows 7 Untimate 64 install, select the Bootcamp drive..choose format..all fine.... Nope...  Windows says it cant install to the drive it just formatted.  Is there some trick or something?  I have scoured the net, but cant find the same issue anywhere else.

  • Can Windows XP SP2 Be Installed With Boot Camp on OS X Mountain Lion?

    Hello,
I use the MacBook Pro Retina and currently have a Windows 7 partition which works fine.
However, if I want to create a Windows XP SP2 partition as well, how can I do that?
I have the install disk, but is it possible to have 2 boot camp partitions? How could I do this?
Also, how can I install Windows XP and have it running successfully?
    Thank you

You don't, just upgrade Windows 7 to Win 7 Pro or above and it will run XP programs and if they don't you can download XP for free from Microsoft and virtualize it within Win 7.

The free Virtualbox, does the job and gets updates on older OS X versions, Fusion and Parallels (commercial software) keep routinely begging for cash or deny you security updates and forces you to upgrade to later OS X versions your machine may later can't handle.

When will Windows 8.1 be supported on Boot camp 5? I have a new Mac book Pro 2013 and cannot install. Do I return the Windows version and try to download 8.0, or wait it out until it is supported? New to Mac's.
    Apple please advise.

With respect to your question "When will Windows 8.1 be supported on Boot camp 5?" you are asking us to speculate as to when Apple will release their drivers supporting Windows 8.1. We do not know, and we can not speculate as to when. From the terms of use of this forum:

Unfortunately it will probably take longer to trouble shoot then to just reinstall Windows. That would be my suggestion now. Re-installing takes about the same time as an erase-install of the Windows partition so I would suggest the latter. No need to re-format it.
It happens, Windows just won't play right sometimes.
If you have the Apple Software Updater and the Boot Camp control panel then it sounds like they were installed but Windows just isn't seeing the important ones.
Are you familiar with Windows 7? We need to know what you know to help better.
What do you get when you try to get on the internet? Does the Device Manager have any issues showing? If you open the Devices and Features control panel do you see any Apple drivers?

  • Windows automatic startup on Mac Book after installing with Boot Camp?

I installed Windows XP Home Edition 2002 using Boot Camp on my Mac Book with Mac OS X 10.5.1. This is probably a minor problem, but every time I turn on my laptop, Windows XP automatically starts, and the only way to start with Mac OS X is by holding option during start up and selecting Macintosh HD. Is there anyway to automatically start up using Mac OS X and not Windows?

    Hi every/any-one
I had this initial problem whereby it automatically started Windows. I couldn't change the default in my Startup Disk pane in OSX because it didn't show either the Mac or XP partition. Once the bootcamp drivers were installed on XP though I could change it in windows - however this is where the real trouble has begun
Now if I restart my computer in either XP or OSX (5.2) I have massive pixel dramas on my screen - like a colour phase shift or something
However, once I am have chosen XP as the default system (whilst in XP boot camp bit) and then immediately restart I can continually restart in XP automatically without any pixel issues. Also if I choose OSX (whilst in XP) and then immediately restart, it will start in OSX correctly (BUT ONLY THE FIRST TIME) - The next time I automatically boot to OSX it is pixel dramas all over again - Similarly if I restart from OSX and want to change to XP and then hold down the option key to swap to XP, XP also has the pixel dramas and will continue to until I ask it to automatically start XP from teh boot camp menu - It is only if it automatically boots to XP that the problem is ok in XP.
I have down loaded the latest leopard updates and the ATI 8.43 graphics driver (the catalyst one didn't install properly so I have uninstalled that) and I still have the same issue - There is nothing on my XP partion at all except the new drivers and the Apple Mouse Utility which I initially put into the start up menu but have since removed and just left on the desktop - Aside from that nothing has changed in XP from its initial installation. I have only gone on the web twice in XP and been to highly reputable sites and not downloaded anything so it would be virtually impossible for it to be a virus. I also couldn't properly download the latest OSX updates via software update (it stalled at 239M so I restarted and got the rest but then it wouldn't install so in the end I had to download the update file manually to trigger the updates) - I am not sure if this is related, to the pixel problem or not.
Does anyone have any answers as I have restarted my computer at least 40 times in trying to isolate the specifics of the problem - but still can't work it out
Could it be related to the fact that neither of my partitions can be seen in startup disk in OSX?
Is it something to do with the screen res in XP ? (I have changed a bit but no good)
Could it be related to the Apple Mouse Utility (I downloaded this so I could right click in XP)
Any help other than formatting my drives, re-doing bootcamp, reinstalling XP would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks

  • I am trying to install windows 8 at my macbook air boot camp

I am trying to install windows 8 at my macbook air boot camp but Boot Camp Assistant i showing an error that the disk cannot be portioned because some files cannot be moved. Back up the disc and use disk utility to format it was a single Mac OS Extended (journaled) volume. Restore your information to the disk and try using Boot Camp Assistant Again.
I had already installed teh first time Windows on my MacBook Air and Mac Book Pro. Actually I had more issues to install on the pro than Air.
But my Macbook Air had an issue on November 2013, 3 weeks after buying it and Apple gave me a new MacBook Air but they only transferred the information on my mac and the windows partion was lost according to them, they could copy it in to my new MacBook Air. Now that I am trying to install my windows I can not access to the aprtion section and get the error message from above.
What can I do to to install it? I am using a 32GB USB and OEM Windows 8 at USB External Drive. The same I used before. I dont know understand what changed if I did it before?
    Please advise..

I think there's some remmants left over from when Apple transferred stuff over. We can try a quick fix, but if that doesn't work, I think the only option is to clean install OSX and then install Windows.
open disk utility, confirm that you only have 1 partition (mac journaled)
    restart and PRAM reset
open disk utility and repair permissions twice
    restart boot camp assistant
    Does it work?
If not, I would boot holding command+R, choose disk utility from the menu and completely erase your HD (formatting it as mac journaled again). Then, install OSX on this HD. Once OSX is installed, don't copy your files over from the backup yet. Instead, start boot camp assistant and see if you can get Windows installed. You can copy back your other files after we get Windows installed.

  • My sound no longer works on Mac OS after installing a Boot Camp partition for Windows 7 x64.

I installed Windows 7 x64-Bit Professional Edition on my iMac Mid-2011 on Yosemite 10.10.2 through Boot Camp. I installed Windows 7 without any hitches and I proceeded to install an old PC game and I was able to run it just fine, I could here the audio perfectly. But, the next day, when I started my iMac on the Mac OS partition, the sound bar icon on the top right was greyed out. This problem began occurring after I restarted to the (original) Mac OS partition I've tried to check it out on System Preferences and Audio MIDI Setup. On Sys Prefs, it says, "No output devices found" and "No input devices found". On Audio MIDI Setup, it says,"No Devices Found on the System."When I go back to the Windows partition, I can hear audio just fine and I can even set the volume from my keyboard. I have already updated the necessary drivers on the Windows side. I've reset the PRAM and repaired the disk permissions with Disk Utility. Headphones don't work either but I can send audio through a bluetooth speaker that I have.

    Hi 0day,
unfortunately you have to have the MacOS DVD to install the Boot Camp 3 (legally).
The 3.1 and 3.2 are upgrades to that (as you found out).

  • Install Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit via Boot Camp

I am using a 17" MacBook Pro with and Intel i7 2.66 GHz processor, 8GB 1067 MHz RAM and a 7200RPM 500GB hard drive. I am trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit via Boot Camp. I do what Boot Camp tells me to do, but when my MacBook Pro restarts to boot from the Windows 7 disc, all I get get is a white screen! I have tried to boot manually from the Windows 7 disc, but it won't boot. It freezes on the white screen and I have to reboot the Mac using the Mac OS X partition. How can I fix this ASAP so I can install Windows 7? I need to get it done TONIGHT! I just found out that I am running the 3.0.2 version of boot camp on my Mac OS X 10.6.4 version. Is this the problem? Do I need to update my Boot Camp Utility? If so, how do I do it or do I have to install Windows Vista first since the update is a .exe file?

It is the Windows 7 64-bit disc that came with my Dell a while back, but I no longer have that Dell. I have also tried using my Vista Ultimate 64-bit disc and my Windows XP Pro SP3 disc, but none of these worked. Same result - white screen. All of these discs came with my previous PC computers that I used to have, but I no longer have those PCs. Only their discs. Is using discs that came with other computers for those computers the problem? Do I have to use a Windows disc that has not been used before?

The disks that come with PCs most often include only the drivers and applications required by the PC they were made for. You can not use these disks to install on other than the original hardware.

  • Parallel/Windows XP installed b4 Boot Camp.  Can I still install Boot Camp?

Hi, I'm new to Mac and I installed the parallel program and windows xp on the mac before installing the boot camp. Is there a way to install the boot camp software and not uninstall microsoft xp and it's programs and the parallel program?

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
sure thing you can, but you can't use the Windows license you use with Parallels with BootCamp too.
You have to buy a second one.
And you can't use the Parallels Windows Virtual Machine for install with BootCamp as it needs to be installed from a Windows CD/DVD.
The other way round, using a BootCamp Windows for a Parallels Virtual Machine is possible.
Check with the Parallels manual on how-to achieve this.
    Regards
    Stefan
