Windows 7 Backup error code 0x81000039

Hi Everyone,
I was trying to perform a backup across our peer-peer network from a Windows 7 computer to an XP Pro computer.  The user has full access to the additional harddrive on the XP computer, but I get error code 0x81000039, remote share path not available.  I believe this was towards the end of the backup, but I was not watching it the full time.  Any suggestions?

      Hello Arthur,
I would suspect it is a network issue too, but I tried this a total of 5 times, 3 of them resulting in the network error.  I do not remember what one of the errors was, but I know the other error was a “Only one image is allowed on this drive” type error.  At this point I tried one last time and it was after restarting both computers, logging in, waiting till both systems were idle, and then creating a new folder on the remote drive so that there would be no more, "Only one image" errors.  I had no problems creating the new folder, Jason7, on the remote drive.  This is the same network drive that I use to backup this computer when it had Vista on it.
Unfortunately I am not physically located in the facilities so trying a crossover cable is a little more than difficult at this time. :)
Just out of curiosity I tried it on two computers running Windows 7 RC here at my house.  I have the same network type setup and addressing as at the office.  I was able to successfully complete a backup from my laptop to my home desktop, so that was no help in figuring out this problem.
It did actually put almost 19GB of zip files on the network backup location.  This happened all three times when I got the network error.  Also both computers have battery backup as well as the network switch, router, and modem so power kicking out would not have been the problem.  None of the UPS’s recorded any spikes, noise or anything.  It appears to be a problem at the end of the backup and whatever process it is doing near the end of the backup.
I was able to upload the last three tries log files to Soudamini yesterday and today he said he would be getting back with me.
Anything you can think of I can try remotely?
Best regards,
Frederick C. Frahm

  • Windows 7 backup error code 0x81000019 (Backup Failure)

Running "backup" failed with error code 0x81000019.
After days of trouble shooting, I narrowed the problem to "com+ event system" service. It showed "started", I restarted it and backup worked. If I restart computer, I have to restart the service again for backup to work.
A "TEMPORARY" solution is a desktop batch file that contains the following lines:    net stop /Y "COM+ Event system"
net start "COM+ Event System"  exit
(Run this batch file before doing a backup.)
I have Windows 7 Ultimate (x64). I did a clean install which includes the system partition. No other problems, just this one.

    Hi BobK1110,
    Thanks for the post!
What’s your error message when you got the error code 0x8100019? Please check this thread:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprogeneral/thread/fce6950d-c06d-4dd0-a850-67022db4fe04
Do you have the same error message?
If so, this is a known issue, as a workaround, you can increase the system reserved partition size to 500MB.
Meanwhile, thanks for sharing your solution on this issue, it could be beneficial for other community members.

You can try downloading the 64 bit version.  You can download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site and have cookies enabled in your browser or else the download will not work properly.

70D support requires ACR 8.2 or newer, which requires an upgrade to PSE.
I’d suggest doing a trial of PSE13 to make sure it works on your computer:

You’re running an outdated copy of Safari on your Desktop. That won’t work.
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Applications
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-A to open the Applications folder. Check that the Safari application is in that folder. If it is, use it, and delete the copy on your Desktop. Never move or copy built-in applications.
If you've deleted Safari from the Applications folder, back up all data, then reinstall OS X. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade, so make a note of those before you begin.

    Hi,
Before going any further, I would like to verify did you map network drive on Windows 7? I want to inform you that Windows 7 does not support backup of network driver.
Please disconnect the mapped driver and perform  back up again. And error code 0X8100002F, you can refer this KB:

  • Backup failed for Windows 2008 R2 error code 2147755009 event id 19

    Hi Guys,
I'm doing Windows server backup to a NAS drive via iSCSI target, and everything works fine until a few weeks back where my backup started to fail with the above event ID and error code. Description provided by Microsoft doesn't help either as it simply doesn't
    explain much at all. (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc734218%28v=ws.10%29.aspx)
I updated the firmware of the NAS drive, make sure iSCSI connection wasn't dropping, and i even manage to do a backup manually via the "Backup Once" action. But when it comes to scheduled backup, it keeps on failing. I'm pretty sure the NAS drive
is working fine as well as iSCSI connection since i can do a backup manually.
    Any idea guys?

    Hi,
Could you please provide more detailed information about the error? You could refer to the article below to check if it helps:

  • Windows 7 Backup Error 0x800703ee

I have a Satellite A505-S69803 laptop running Window 7 Home Premium 64-Bit. The windows backup had been set on a schedule and until a couple of weeks ago worked find. But now when I try to backup files it keeps getting error code 0x800703EE. It runs about 46 percent of the backup after taking about 3 hours then stops running and gives the message, "The volume for a file has been externally altered such that the opened file is no longer valid" & error code: 0x800703ee/event ID:4104/locale ID:1033. What does this mean? How do I fix it?
                                                                                                                                        Thanks,

I assume you are backing up to an external hard drive. Run chkdsk /r on that drive.
Run Check Disk from a Command Line to Check for and fix Disk Errors
    ..after taking about 3 hours
Did it take less time when the backup ran properly?

  • Windows 7 Backup Error 0x8078002A

I upgraded my main computer to Windows 7 Home Premium which has a C drive (500 GB) and a Raid 5 SATA array (2.7 TB) on drive D:. I tried to backup the install as an image on the D: drive and I get the following error code 0x8078002A and a comment about an I/O error and one of the backup files could not be created.
I plugged in a USB external hard drive in and it works.
This computer is part of a gigabit switched home network (the main file server), so I tried to back up one of the home computers (running W7 Professional) through the network onto a shared folder on drive D: and I get the same error. The backup gets  27% of the way through on both computers and then fails.
I have updated the Raid driver (I had to as part of the W7 install).
Any ideas or solutions on this one?
Secondly, can I copy the backup off the USB drive onto the D: drive and have a reliable backup, or will that corrupt the backup?
    Thanks for your help

    Hello,
    Identical experience.
I don't know if this is relevant but some external drives & Windows 7 x64 SP1 backup don't seem to work well together:
    cf:
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/1780.windows-small-business-server-external-backup-drives-compatibility-list.aspx?PageIndex=9 which makes a list of other "failing" external drives with MS Windows products.
I use also an 'old' Iomega "Prestige" 1TB model LPHD-UP3 connected by USB3 to fast recent (end 2011) laptop with W7 SP1 x64 with all KBs (this Vaio laptop works like a dream).
Windows BU failed three times (I tried with & without external HD cache). So this looks like a lack lustre "Prestige" solution.
Yesterday, I just saved 100 GB of data from Laptop to this external drive (explorer copy/paste) and it went fine (64MB/s average throughput). I looked at the characterisics of this external drive with HD Tune Pro (smart etc.) and HD drive seemed OK.
Chckdsk /f /x ran on it with no problem found.
So, one would tend to infer that the internal drive in this external box is probably OK.
However, Iomega "added value" between the hard drive & my laptop (I mean the hardware component + Iomega software to run the usb3 to sata III interface) may be a technical disaster (product ref p/n 31922900 s/n GSAB136901) in this specific instance,
as I am not the only one who suffers damages due perhaps to this non-working product as a Windows backup external solution.
I have also a similar Raidsonic ICY Box ib-273stu3-b external HD enclosure but I have lent it to a kid to restore his clugged & corrupted W7 OS on his laptop this week at his boarding school so I will try it next week with WS BU to circumvent
the issue. I know it works well with AHTI but I don't remember with WS BU. NB: I am not an immoderate fan of AHTI. It let me down at restore time twice on a complex config and I could recover thanks to another WS BU file ("belts & braces"
practice). However, here, I just mention it worked.
I have also another similar but heavier multi-purposes Icy Box IB-120CL-U3 that I could use for tests but I have to change desk & room and I feel lazy today. Next week hopefully.
After the first failure yesterday, I used Acronis True Image Home also for same OS full image to the network NAS. It took 2 hours last night on a 100 Mb/s ethernet connection for 60GB but at least it finished OK and this machine is protected if its
HD crashes (all user data is saved separately on the fly (real time) with Goodsync to a NAS in RAID1 + 6 periodic AHTI incremental images for "belt & braces").
As I am pig headed, I tried WS Backup again twice today. Same failures so I am satisfied the behaviour of this set is consistent!
I post error events logs & screen capture picture in appendix, hoping more knowledgeable people can do something with it or learn from the incident for themselves.
    Ideas to solve welcomed.
Needless to repeat that Back-Ups can be CRITICAL for all of us, so failures to BU or to Restore are not be looked at lightly.

  • Windows 7 backup error 0x81000037

Try to do backup on Windows 7 machine to network share on SBS2008.
    Was working fine.
    Now, recieve this error emssage
"The backup was not successful. The error is: Windows Backup failed while trying to read from the shadow copy on one of the volumes being backed up. Please check in the event logs for any relevant errors. (0x81000037)."
Looked in event viewer and found this:
"The backup operation that started at '‎2010‎-‎12‎-‎31T03:02:24.245000000Z' has failed with following error code '2155347999' (Windows Backup cannot find the shared protection point.). Please review the event details for a solution,
and then rerun the backup operation once the issue is resolved."
    Please advise how to solve?

    See the following troubleshooter:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973455:
Error code 0x81000037 If the reparse point points to a location that contains any compressed file format (multimedia files, .zip files, and so on), you receive an error message that resembles the following:
0x81000037: Windows Backup failed while trying to read from the shadow copy on one of the volumes being backed up
To work around this problem, remove this reparse point from the library, and then run the backup wizard again. To back up content for this reparse point, select the absolute path of this location from the Windows Backup configuration user interface.
Note: This error may also occur if Microsoft Forefront Client Security reports
a file as malware, and this file will be included in backups by Windows Backup. In this case, use Forefront Client Security to remove malware from your computer.
    Hope this helps.

  • My Airport Express will not stream music to my remote speakers through the laptop (windows Vista), gives error code -15000. Works fine from my IPAD and Ipod. Any thoughts, suggestions?

Itunes is throwing a -15000 error code on my Windows vista. Ipad and Ipod work great for streaming to remote speakers, trying to use the computer and it throws the error code.
Any thoughts? I've rebooted the laptop, modem, and AE, even plugged in the laptop recommended by other users, still nothing.

the following is for W7 but might work for you:
Fix for error -15000 Remote speakers on iTunes / Windows 7

  • Windows 7 Backup Error

I encountered the below error when attempted to alter a Windows 7 backup.
    Error:
"Set up backup: The function atetmpted to use a name that is reserved for use by another transaction. (0x80071A09)"
    Solution:
Create backup without schedule, enable schedule, set required schedule.
Found several others with this issue online but no resolution thus created this post.

  • Windows xp sp3 error code 10

Anybody have any solution for this error code??
I already downloaded the latest driver from cisco and installed.  on device manager it shows the AM10 under network adapter, but theres an error code 10 saying that the device cannot be start.
    And
Is there any way to restore the dirver that came wtih the AM10 inside, cuz i formatted the device memory, so everything in gone now.
    Thanks

See if your audio card maker has an auto device update checker now available. Try that.
In General, could try ROLL BACK or UPDATE drivers in Device Manager.
Not possible for my audio card.
If not fixed, then: the key is to UNINSTALL the current driver from C:/Windows, with Add/Remove or Device Manager hopefully completely uninstalling. My card maker says to use the first for XP and the second for Vista. Note: a system restore point will be made automatically.
If after restart, the 'Found New Hardware' window doesn't display, the driver files are still not properly UNINSTALLED.
Look for a System Restore point from before initial changes. Try that.
Another method - Use the official installer cd which unlike the downloads provides the option to UNINSTALL via setup.
    Read this: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/code-10-error.htm
My unofficial method for any driver uninstall:
    1. Uninstall via Device Manager or Add/Remove
    2. Run CCleaner.by Piriform.
    3. Run Windows Registry Repair Pro by 3B Software.
    4. Check via Windows Install Cleanup tool
    5. Optional - Look in the driver folder (usually on C: ) at last folder can open for typical file names.
    6. Optional - Manually search c:/windows for the files and delete. (first do a system restore).
