Windows 7 BSOD Bootcamp crash

I have a mac pro
2.66 GHz Quad Intel Xeon
3GB 1066 MHz DDR3
So i installed boot camp with windows 7 and have been using it all the time.  When i turn on my computer i hold the alt key to select windows 7 while i boot up my computer...
Just a few hours ago a blue screen appeared with words and numbers that were counting to what seemed like 100..Afterwards the comuter just turned off.  When i go to turn it back on i use alt again to go to windwos as i normally would, however this time windows 7 is not showing up.  Instead my Macintosh HD which is what i'm on now is the only thing that shows up..when i go to start up the computer using system preferences > Windows 7
The computer then restarts and goes black...complete black with a cursor at the top left corner...somewhat of an MS_Dos screen.  I cannot access my windows 7 and would like to know what is wrong and how i can possibly fix this problem......Thank you all in advance for any help!

I think the low ram might be the issue as i have been running low on memory for the windows side...
I dont remember what i last installed but i tend to download movies and tvshows
how can i safe boot using f8? I cant even log into the windows side of my computer
I do not have the windows dvd...
I am using SL...but i dont know what version of bootcamp..or what this means...
boot camp 3.0 -> 3.3 AppleHFS.sys and AppleMNT.sys
I dont know what RAID means but i think i have that on my computer...i remember reading about that when i bought this computer..
Windows is sharing a drive with osX
I do not know what this means as well :you can see the value of a windows backup too.
Sorry if this information is not that helpful, but i am not very good with computers...when i got this computer i took it to my cousin to have him install windows 7 via bootcamp...and i am unfamilar with many of the things discussed here but i am trying my best to figure out this problem ...thanks for responding...what should i do now? I need some files on my windows side and i would like to access it again....once i am able to access my windows again, i'm thinking of reformatting it and starting over...

  • Is installing Windows via bootcamp bad for my hardrive? (It crashed)

    Hello,
I purchased my new Macbook Pro 13" in January of this year, and my hardrive recently completely crashed. I was lucky enough to have Apple pay for a new hd, but I really want to know what caused it. The only thing I can think of that makes any sort of sense is that installing Windows via bootcamp screwed up the hardrive somehow and caused it to fail from getting worked too much from always restarting into Windows / having too much of my hd dedicated to Windows (150 gb of my 750gb SATA hd). I dont know if any of this makes sense, or if I just got really unlucky and got a bad hd from the factory. I have never physically damaged my macbook (like dropping it or whatever) and have never stored it in extremely hot or cold temperatures. The copy of Windows I installed was legit and everything....so I am scared to reinstall windows in fear that my hd will fail again
So my question is this...... is there any way that the bootcamp partition could have cause my hd to fail? Is it safe to go ahead and install windows again?
    Thank you for you time.

I have never heard of bootcamp causing hard drive failure. I think it is more likely that you were unlucky and ended up with a bad drive. Something like 1 in 100,000 fail, that 1 has to land on someone. If you are worried about bootcamping again I would recommend Parallels or VMWare Fusion. They are both excellent virtualization applications and offer a soft cap on the windows partition size because it is a file kept inside of OSX instead of a physical partition. I have been running Parallels for 6 months with no problems.
    Best,
    Stuart-

  • Plugging in iPhone causes my Windows machine to crash

My wife and I just bought new 3G Iphones and got them all plugged in and started the firmware updates. Both of us downloaded fine, installed fine then mine rebooted and worked ok, but hers crashed her windows machine.
Now as soon as the iPhone is recognized via USB on the windows machine - it crashes - BSOD's and reboots. How do I fix this? I have a macbook that I'm using for mine that I can restore hers from if need be.

So it appears that Kodak EasyShare software was the culprit - I removed it and everything works fine. Now I just have to figure out how to make my camera work nice with it and then I'll be ok.

  • Bootcamp crashed removing partition, now stuck with 60GB "Free Space"

    I have a MacBook Pro Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013 with a 250GB hard drive running Mavericks 10.9.3
I use to have a 60GB windows partition setup via bootcamp, but I haven't used it in a while and wanted the space back. Bootcamp crashed half way through removal, and now I have a 60GB of Free Space that I am unable to resize the existing Mac partition into, nor can I use that space to create any new partitions. I try and no error appears, yet when I leave the partitions tab it says I've got unsaved changes.
I've gone into recovery mode and run a repair disk, and to resize it while still inside recovery mode. Nothing seems to help.
    Does anybody have any suggestions?

  • Bootcamp crashed and erased part of my HDD

i have done a little bit of research and i have found nothing that has actually worked, but i was trying to install windows on my mac using boot camp, and i have done this a bunch of times before, but this time it crashed and erased my partition.
i have a late 2008 unibody macbook pro running (at the time) mountain lion 10.8.0
so i ran bootcamp and set up my partitions and everything was going along normally. it was running for well over 2 hours (which it has never taken that long before) and then the program restarted. i restarted my computer in hopes that i could just do it all over again, but there was no windows partition made, and the partition size that i had chosen for windows was erased off of the mac partition size.
i know that there has to be a way to save this partition and put it back, i just dont know how. if anyone could help i would really appreciate it.
    thank you in advance guys.

No that's not the problem. The partition that I created for windows is GONE.
I have a one terabyte hard drive and I made a 400 GB partition for windows. But when Bootcamp crashed it completely erase the 400 GB. a boot camp partition was never made and now my hard drive is only 600 GB. Whenever I open Boot Camp assistant to try and restore the hard drive, it basically prompts me to partition the hard drive as if I had never opened it before. So I have 400 GB of hard drive space unaccounted for and I have no idea how to bring it back

  • Windows 8 Bootcamp Fail

Running OS X Lion (10.7.3) on my iMac I tried to install Windows 8 Consumer Preview 64 bit via Bootcamp. I burned the 64 bit ISO to DVD-R using Disk Utility and went at it. I decided only to check the 'Install Windows 7' box when installing since the How-To's I read explained that they wouldn't work. After the 'partitioning' was finished, the BootCamp status changed to 'Idle' and a few minutes later it crashed. After Bootcamp crashed the entire computer started to act weird, and there was no possible way to soft restart.
After some minutes of waiting for OS X to return to normal, I gave up and held down the power button. I could no longer boot into OS X. After some minutes of the black screen with the blinking white "_" character, it launched into the Windows 8 install. After entering the product key however, it gives me a 'Compatibility' error saying I would need to restart the computer without the boot disc in it so 'Windows can start normally' for the install. But after ejecting the disc the Windows install wasn't even capable of starting, and it was impossible to eject it after the Windows install appeared. I was afraid I lost OS X, but luckily I was able to restore to a Time Machine backup via the Recovery Disk.
Can anyone think of why this might have happened? There are countless Bootcamp threads here and I'm having trouble finding someone with just the same (or a reasonably similar) issue as mine, so I'm sorry if this is the kind of question that's been asked a dozen times. I'm a bit of a noob to Macs and a total stranger to Bootcamp, so my only resources are Google and forums like this. I would mess around with this kind of thing more but the first time I even tried Bootcamp I almost lost my Mac so I don't think trial and error is the best avenue here.

Hi, I am using Windows 8 on my macbook pro and it is running perfectely fine.  I would say Windows 8 preview even though unfinished is an improvement over Windows 7.
As far as running it on your Mac I feel it is best to install Windows 7 first and then go to Windows 8.  Now to the best of my knowledge you probably don't need an activated version of Windows 7 to install Windows 8 so you could use a friends Win 7 disc or get the ISO which is not illegal as you are installing it without activating.
If you want to purchase Win7 it probably would not be a waste of money since the cheapest copy of Win7 and the Upgrade fee for Win8 will likely cost less than a retail full version of Win8.
To install the Windows Suport Files make sure to right click go to properties and run in compatibility mode for Win7 and then make sure to update them after that.
If you want to virtualize I would highly recommend that you make sure your processor model supports virtualization because Apple released a few core2duo's and maybe other processors without virtualization which is bogus since it is a customer ordered product from Intel.
Also make sure you have at least 4GB of ram it's not a great experience with less than, heck even with 4GB its a lil sketchy.  8GB is perfect since you can give 3-4GB to Windows.
I hope this helps a LIL, it's my understanding that this preview will work well into next year so I think it is worth it to put it on your Mac
    Enjoy!

  • Bootcamp crash when un-partitioning, lost partitions/space

    Ok, here's the deal:
A mate of mine has a few HDDs in his Mac Pro (4x core intel, running 10.5.2) and one of them was a ~300GB drive that had a FAT32 volume of 32GB used as a swap drive for running windows (not needed now with NTFS drivers) and an HFS+ volume that took up the remaining space ~260GB.
He used the Bootcamp Utility to attempt to amalgamate the partitions back into a single partition, and Bootcamp crashed during the process. Now all that remains is the 32GB FAT32 formatted volume, and nothing else. The remaining space is not available and can't be accessed in any way. When looking at the drive in Disk Utility it says that it's a FAT32 volume of 298GB, with 32GB free (the swap drive is empty).
Now I assume this means that the partition map/directory structure is screwed, but I'm (hoping) assuming that the original HFS+ partition is still there and the data on it is intact... We kinda need it back :P I've attempted a /sbin/fsck -fy on the drive in single user mode, but that responded with BAD SUPERBLOCK: MAGIC NUMBER WRONG and refused to do anything else, since the only partition visible is FAT32 formatted, anything I try with 3rd party apps tends to be rejected as they'll only play with HFS/HFS+ volumes.
I'm about to try Diskwarrior and perhaps Techtool Pro, otherwise I might see if I can find any of the data using Data Rescue II. Any help would be greatly appreciated

BootCamp Assistant: at the bottom of the screen, there is an option to print out the manual. First step: BACKUP.
If you can boot Windows, you might try reading HFS volumes with HFSExplorer which is a read only utility.
I don't have much faith in DW or TTP fixing a partition table problem.

  • How do I install windows and bootcamp on my macbook Air

    Hi
I need to install Windows and Bootcamp on my macbook Air, due to a software tool a customer needs that only runs on windows.
The initial instructions say I cannot do this with a remote DvDplayer,
    Who has experienced this?

  • Can not reboot into OSX from Windows using Bootcamp assistant

I'm having a bit of a problem with rebooting into OSX from Windows on bootcamp. Clicking on the icon in the system tray produces a message that Windows can not find the OSX disk. Trying to open the Bootcamp preferences also generates an error. I have no problem getting back into OSX if I shut down Windows and restart the MacPro while holding down the option key. This is with a Windows 7 install on Bootcamp, but I had the same issue with a previous install of Win XP. I nuked and paved OSX and the WIndows disk between installs so my current problem is not carry over from the XP install.

My bad I should have been more clear. The problem is actually with a XP install via bootcamp, my Win 7 install is in VM Ware Fusion.
The XP install is on a second drive. Since you asked about this I'm assuming it may be the reason Im having problems.
The error is I get when trying to access bootcamp via the Windows control panel or by right clicking the sys tray icon is - "An error occured while trying to access the start up disk settings. You may not have privileges ...blah, blah, blah. I only created one account and I have enough privliges to change admin stuff in windows so I cant see privliges being the issue. I reassigned the OSX partition a new drive letter and rebooted windows but this didn't help.
The only drivers I installed, other then updating the video driver, are the bootcamp drivers
Sys tray icon - small diamond shapped icon in systray for accessing bootcamp functions.

  • After upgrading to mountain lion i keep getting an error message saying my startup disc is full. it shouldnt be full because there is barely anything on there and i was running windows with bootcamp prior to this with no issues

after upgrading to mountain lion i keep getting an error message saying my startup disc is full. it shouldnt be full because there is barely anything on there and i was running windows with bootcamp prior to this with no issues. my computer now freezes and programs close randomly. The usual command for opening windows with bootcamp doesnt work. once in restarted my computer after it froze and it rebooted in windows automatically. i really just want to know if there is a way to take the upgrade off my laptop because it is very annoying.

    Hi Memalyn
Essentially, the bare issue is that you have a 500GB hard drive with only 10GB free. That is not sufficient to run the system properly. The two options you have are to move/remove files to another location, or to install a larger hard drive (eg 2TB). Drive space has nothing to do with SMC firmware, and usually large media files are to blame.
My first recommendation is this: download and run the free OmniDiskSweeper. This will identify the exact size of all your folders - you can drill down into the subfolders and figure out where your largest culprits are. For example, you might find that your Pictures folder contains both an iPhoto Library and copies that you've brought in from a camera but are outside the iPhoto Library structure. Or perhaps you have a lot of purchased video content in iTunes.
If you find files that you KNOW you do not need, you can delete them. Don't delete them just because you have a backup, since if the backup fails, you will lose all your copies.
Don't worry about "cleaners" for now - they don't save much space and can actually cause problems. Deal with the large file situation first and see how you get on.
Let us know what you find out, and if you manage to get your space back.
    Matt

  • Is it true that current version of Mozilla Firefox including its updates can currently cause Windows 7 and/or Windows XP to crash?

I was advised in the first week of September 2013 by our IT contractor, that the current version of Mozilla FireFox (and its updates) is causing computers with Windows 7 to crash? (NB: specifically, we have Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1, 64bit). Is this still the case, and if not, do we need to upgrade to a newer version of Win7 (if one exists). Also, is there currently a problem with using Mozilla Firefox on a computer with Windows XP Home Edition, version 2002, service pack 3? NB: We have a server and our computers are on a network.
Thanks heaps, as would really like to change back to FireFox when possible.

That shouldn't be the case but most likely what I can think of is the graphics driver conflicting with Firefox. We can troubleshoot this issue if you'd like to.

If you still have the crashed Win computer, you may be able to recover your music and movies from the hard drive. If you have a friend with a hard drive USB connection kit and a PC, they should be able to help.  Otherwise, check locally for computer services that might do that for you (I think Best Buy Geek Squad may be able to help). If the drive itself is in good shape, it shouldn't be too expensive.
