    Hello Debbie,
I would be concerned as well if my iPad was not recognized by iTunes.  Thank you for providing all the information with the steps you took in regards to this issue.  I found an article with a few more steps you can take (you can skip the steps you have already taken):

  • Ipod - 60GB - My computer wont recognise my ipod anymore :o(

I am seriously running out of ideas and patience.
My computer wont recognise that my ipod is connected, yet the ipod just registers that it's re-charging.
I have the latest ipod update and the latest itunes.
so, now i can't update/install anymore songs on my ipod.
It can't be the USB cable, 'cos it recharges.
It can't be Itunes or ipod updater 'cos they are up to date.
been thru all the advice on this topic on this website, including using msconfig to see if there are any conflicts.
If there is anyone with the solution, i would be most grateful to hear it :o)
    Thanks in advance.

disk management doesn't recognise the ipod either!
gaah. okay, let's first try putting the ipod into disk mode to see if it will show up in there then:
    Putting iPod into Disk Mode
... and while you're in that general Computer Management area, let's also check up on another weird possibility. click on "Device Manager". are there devices shown in the pane to the right? or is that pane blank?

  • Just bought 4th Gen.iPod shuffle from Amazon.  My computer (Windows 7) wont recognise device, neither does iTunes.  Have reinstalled iTunes, and nothing seems to work,  Anyone have any ideas.

Just bough 4th Generation iPod Shuffle from Amazon - comp;uter doesnt recognmise device, neither does iTunes.  I have re-installed iTunes, re-started Computer but nothing seems to work.       I have a 2nd generation iPod shuffle and that is recognised by computer.  Anyone have any suggestions - I am at my wits end.

There is a USB printer connected to the back port of the PC. The mouse and keyboard are both PS/2.
I did attempt to reinstall the USB root drivers. After uninstalling iTunes and all the other apple software packages included, I uninstalled everything USB in Device Manager, then rebooted the PC to let Windows reinstall it all.
Reinstalling the OS -might- fix the issue, but if that were the case, it's most likely just a software conflict that can easily be fixed if I can manage to narrow the specific conflicts down. I've already essentially disabled everything with MSCONFIG except for Apple stuff, so I'm at a loss as to where to go. I've attempted the 5 Rs and all that as well, none of it seems to do the trick. I also cleared the temp folder multiple times (once per each iTunes uninstall / reinstall following the support site directions of uninstalling all the extra apple software) as well as attempted restarts of the Apple services.
One oddity I would like to point out is that if I attempt to restart the iPod service through services.msc, it will not restart. It throws the error message of "the service failed to respond in a timely fashion" or whatever. I instead have to use the windows Task Manager to manually kill the iPod process in the processes list.
I just now removed the USB printer and plugged the shuffle into the same port, but I receive the same error message in iTunes about the iPod being corrupted and it needing a restore. If I push restore, the software gets stuck in an endless loop. There are no other USB devices attached to this computer, the motherboard drivers are fully up to date from nVidia's website, and other USB devices clearly function just fine (USB memory sticks, USB printer, etc). If I use the Diagnostics option under Help in iTunes, it will claim there is no iPod connected, and, again, the iPod still does not show up in Windows Explorer under My Computer as an attached device, nor does it show up in Disk Management as a mounted partition.

  • My iphone 3GS has just been updated, but now my computer wont recognise it, it just says 'apple mobile device USB driver'

this means that my iphone cant be updated so i might loose all of my information on it!?
how do i get my computer to recognise it again?

    I keep getting this too.

  • Cant install adobe photoshop, computer wont recognise password. changed apple id password and still no success

i cant install photoshop cs 10 as pomputer wont recognise my password. have reset my password but still no sucess.

The password it is asking for is not your Apple ID password, more then likely.
It is the password you use to Log on to your system. That may or may not be your Apple ID password. If you didn't use your Apple ID and the password for that ID when you first set the system up then it is not that password.
If you have forgotten you Log On password you can reset it.

  • My computer wont recognise my iphone when i plug it in.

When i plu g my iphone into my computer it will, my windows 7 computer will no longer recognise it.
I have tried diff ports and cable, then tried my laptop which it did work on, then tried a ipod touch on to this computer and it recognised that.
I have down loaded all the latest updates and re installed itunes and apple mobile device with no luck please help

DID you ever figure out how to correct this problem? My HP laptop always use to recognize my Iphone 4 then all of the sudden stopped. I have been trying to transfer pictures and it does not see that any device or camera is plugged in to it like it use to. I have VISTA on my computer. When I go to My Computer it doesnt show anything is even plugged into the USB port. I tried all 3 ports on the laptop. The Windows help assistant talks about needing a driver..basically a software disc to load any new divice onto the computer. How would I get a driver for the Iphone?? I never needed that before. I could just plug it in and I would get the pop up asking if I wanted to transfer my pictures, etc.  This is so annoying!  I do back up to I Cloud as well.

  • Error when updating, now computer wont recognise.

I was updating my iPod touch today, itunes downloaded the update for the ipod and when it went to install it apparently had an error and now it wont do squat. It doesnt show up under "my computer" nor iTunes (using usb cable of course).. i have a newer Dell with Windows 7, current update of itunes as well... I've tried to reset the ipod but to no avail.... it turns on but shows a picture of a usb cable with an arrow pointing up towards the "itunes" icon.... ALSO, this is a little older touch, its the 32gb, pre camera version with the sleep button on the top left... H E L P!

    Try here:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
Also try on another computer to help determine if you have an iPod or computer problem.

  • Second hand ipod- my computer wont recognise it, but my daughters ipods wor

I have a second hand ipod mini and my computer (or itunes)will not recognise it at all. My daughters have an ipod mini and a shuffle and can use them fine.
I have reset the mini, I have updated the latest itunes and even downloaded the lastest ipod mini software - but how can this get to my mini when the computer doesn't recognise it????????

Try these steps. You'll find a link to the Windows XP storage driver here also.
First, make hidden folders visible. Open My Computer and choose Tools/Folder Options/View tab. Click on 'Show hidden files and folders' and click OK.
In the Add New Hardware Wizard, have it search in C:\windows\inf for usbstor.inf. This file is required for windows to properly configure the driver. If Windows finds the driver there, you're done.
If Windows does not find the proper driver there, copy usbstor.sys from C:\windows\servicepack\i386 to C:\windows\system32\drivers.
If you can't find the usbstor.inf file on your system, you can get it here: usbstor.inf
After copying the usbstor.inf driver file to C:\Windows\inf, right-click on My Computer and choose ‘Manage.'
Click on the button labeled 'Device Manager.'
Click to open the list under 'Universal Serial Bus Controllers.'
Right click on any mass storage devices with the exclamation icon next to them and select 'Update Driver.'
Check the option 'Install from a list or a specific location' and then click to continue.
Check next to 'Include this location in the search' and enter 'C:\windows\inf'.
Click on 'Next' and follow the steps to complete the driver installation wizard.

  • Itunes freezes when ipod plugged in, computer wont recognise it.

I know it's a common problem but when I plug my IPod Classic into my laptop, it causes itunes to freeze and won't respond to anything unless I unplug the IPod.
It started when I was playing a tune on itunes and plugged the ipod in. Itunes was still starting up and the conflict seemed to confuse it and caused the problem.
If I plug the ipod in, my computer recognises it as a drive, not an ipod, but the device manager does recognise it and says it is working fine.
I've tried to restore it on my computer but it doesn't do anything until I unplug it, then of course it can't find the device. Plug it back in and again, won't respond to any commands until the ipod is unplugged.
The ipod seems to play ok on my dock so the problem lies with the communication with the ipod and the computer.
I've updated itunes, checked the ipod is up to date, even bought a new cable. I've tried it in disk mode but I don't seem to be able to do anythng to either fix the problem, or restore my ipod.
    I am using Windows 8.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks.

  • For those of you with a Windows computer and the iOS device is not syncing or showing up in iTunes. here is a known solution that has been working for tech support!

I know this seems to be an emerging issue ever since the update to iTunes 11.1.4, some iPhones or other iOS devices are not showing up in iTunes or syncing. I'm not sure if Apple really knowns of this issue, but tech support has a (mostly) sure fire way of resolcing this issue. It's only for Windows computers though.
Go to the article http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538 and follow the Section 5 Verify Apple Mobile Device USB driver is installed. When you clik on that section, go to your version of Windows (it seems to be happening mostly across Windows 8) . And then to the section: If Apple iPod, Aple iPhone, or Apple iPad is listed.
The gist of what you need to do:
Windows 8 (since it seems to be the most affected) move your cursor to the upper ight corner of your screen) and click on the Magnifying glass. Type in devmgmt.msc and this should bring up the Device Manager. Onc eyou are in the device manager, look for the "Portable device" or "Universial Serial bus Controller" list, and you should see the "Apple iPhone/iPad/iPod" listed. Onc eyou see it, right click it, choose "Update software driver." Now, IT WILL SAY THE DRIVER IS UPDATED. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. Select "Browse my computer for driver software." Onc eyou choose that, select "Let me pick from a lsit of drivers on my computer." You should see the option "Have Disk." Choose that. Again, I KNOW you do not have a physical disk, but the file we need is already on your computer. After Hard Disk, choose Browse again. Follow this file path to the file we need: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.. In the Driver's folder, you should see the "usbaaple" or "usbappl64" (if you have the 64 bit for Windows). Double click on that file, and hit OK. The file should install, and once it's finished check your iTunes!!! You may want to unplug your device and plug it back it before doing all of this. I REALLY hope this works for you all as well!

How can I change my file extension from m4p to something else? I have had no success being able to play or burn my purchased music. I keep getting error 2122. If I can change the format I should be able to move it to another player or at least burn it in Nero. Thanks.

  • Is there any way to save data from a broken Iphone that still turns on but computer wont recognise it?

My iphone 4 was thrown at the floor and smashed. It charges still, and switches between showing the apple logo on screen, to blank, and then sometimes to the initial start up screen where it asks me to connect it to itunes. When plugged into the computer however the computer doesn't show it in Devices, and it doesn't appear in Itunes. I am wondering if there are any options to try and get all my photos and contacts off it in particular.  I am not sure if itunes backed up the data when i updated the phone previously... Thank you so much for any help, i appreciate it so much!

If a repairer was too look at it and they are not with Apple, you would void your warranty entirely.
To check previous backups, go into Edit>Preferences>Devices on Windows, and iTunes>Preferences>Devices for Mac, that will show a list of backups

  • I accidentally synced my iPhone to my sisters computer and now my computer wont recognise my iphone to automatically sync for music form my itunes...Help?

I accidentally synced my iphone 4s to my sisters computer and now my computer won't recognise it and allow me to download music and photos etc. Is tehre some simple settign In need to do  to allow my compuetr to recognise my iphone again?

Connect to your computer, start iTunes, right click on your phone in the device list, choose "backup". iTunes will perform a manual backup without syncing your phone.
After that sync your phone, iTunes will erase the content, but you can use the manual backup to restore from afterwards.
