Windows 7 displays the icon for my C3180 (connected to an XP PC) but cannot connect to it

I have a Photosmart C3180 connected to an XP Pro PC on a LAN. I have a 2nd PC connected to the LAN. I upgraded this 2nd PC from vista business to win 7 32 bit home. The Win 7 PC can 'see' the printer on the network but cannot connect to it. It says: 'Operation failed with error 0x0000046a'. I downloaded and installed the Win 7 32 bit programs and drivers for this printer. It works if I connect it to the Win 7 USB but not across the network. Any advice greatfully received.

I'd been having this problem for weeks and it was driving me nuts!! I tried installing the 10.6.3 v1.1 Combo Update today (thinking the problem was caused by the first upgrade to 10.6.3), but that obviously didn't work. Tried messing w/ Airfoil b/c some people complained about it screwing up icon previews; didn't work. Tried deleting the Quicklook.thumbnailcache; didn't work.
After reading this post I opened the Console and saw a .mkv file was screwing with quicklookd.
Deleted it -> problem solved!

Airport says connected to basestation via PPoE but cannot connect

My ibook 700 connects to airport and internet connect says connected to base station via PPoE with very stong signal. Despite this when launch any internet requiring application Mail, Safari, TBK2 I get error message that it can't find server and Internet connect says can't find a PPoE sever. Have rebooted, reseated airport card and atenna, logged in under various users etc. Occasionally Safari will spontaneously connect and work fine. The base station has an iMac attached to it and it connects without a problem via the Airport Snow Base station via an ethernet cable. Other airport equipped ibooks connect without any issues.
I am running 10.3.9 on the ibook and have not recently updated any software.
Is this software, hardware, network setting etc problem.

It should be that the AirPort Base Station is connected to your DSP ISP using PPPoE, and the your iBook is connected to the Base Station using DHCP. Is this the way they are configured now?

Believe it or not; The answer is found by searching the internet. One solution is to install an application called BlueStacks player which appears to install an Android VM for playing Android apps. I'm sure there are other solutions, but the
BlueStacks player looks exactly like mu Moto G screen. The apps icons are displayed in Windows Explorer with BlueStacks installed.

I was wondering if there is a possibility to change the icon for 'windows group' in Java 1.6...
I'm using Windows XP SP2. Now the windows from my Java 1.6 application are grouped with the standard Sun icon [screen below] on the group.

Whichever icon I use for the main frame (I tried few), after grouping the main frame and other sub-frames the icon is changed to standard 'Java Sun' icon as you can see in the screenshot from my first post. I currently use a Mac Pro 10.8.4 and have a time machine for wireless 6.3 (630.34). Sometimes I cannot connect to the internet and use network preferences to diagnose the issue. This results in being told to restart the wireless. The airport utility includes the drop down option of restarting but is not clickable so I can't choose it.
With my prior macbook and same time capsule, etc if i had problems connecting to the internet I would run network diagnostics to help out. This included clicking on the airport utility ---> base station --> restart. This worked most of the time.
Bottom line, is there something I am missing in not being able to restart the wi-fi remotely? ]

You are likely forgetting a step.
Open AirPort Utility
Click on the Time Capsule icon
Click Edit in the small window that appears
Now click the Base Station menu.....top of the screen....not the Base Station "tab" in the center of the screen
Click Restart

Your Apple TV is connected to your wi fi network but cannot connect to the internet. Airplay logo not available on ipad3, iPod touch3g and showing intermittently in iTunes on windows laptop. Switched ISP a few days ago. Entered pass key info on all.

I switched ISP a few days ago and had problems with airplay since. After restarting and reinstalling and updating, re entering pass keys for new wi fi on everything, Apple TV shows: Your Apple TV is connected to your wi fi network but cannot connect to the Internet. Ipad3 and iPod touch 3G have no airplay icon or get one briefly then it disappears again. Same with itunes on windows laptop.
Can anyone help?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

If you mean they're on the dock but have the wrong icon, right click and select "display as folder".
If you mean that they aren't there at all, open a Finder window to your Home folder. Drag the documents folder to the right side of the dock. Do the same with the downloads folder.

As I said, the other day I had downloaded the latest version of Firefox and after doing so none of the icons for the different websites that normally go to are no longer there. Websites such as MSNBC, MSN, Most visited, that entire strip is no longer visible. I tired resetting Firefox and still nothing. Can anyone tell me how to get them to appear again? It's a hassle every time that I want to go to one of those sites I have to type it in the search bar, instead of just clicking on it as I did before. On Windows XP Firefox shows the menu bar by default and not the orange Firefox menu button that is shown when the menu bar is hidden.<br />
The menu bar is the toolbar at the top that shows menu items like File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help.<br />
You can press the F10 key or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily in case this bar is hidden (View > Toolbars or Firefox > Options).
The Navigation Toolbar shows the Back and forward button and the input field where you type the address of a site that you want to visit (aka location bar) and also has a search bar where you can type items that you want to look up with a search engine (Google).

i have done all the settings to display the iconic tool bar in the web. the settings i have done are like this.
Initially i have created a .jar file with name my_icons.jar and pasted in /forms/java folder.
1) modified the I:\DevSuiteHome_1\j2ee\DevSuite\application-deployments\forms\formsweb\orion-web.xml file by adding
<virtual-directory virtual-path="/icons" real-path="I:\aptd\icons" />.
2) Modified the forms.conf file by adding the line

How to change the icon for a shortcut on the desktop

I created a shortcut on the Desktop (dragging a safari url-icon to the desktop) but the icon showing is a safari icon.
The website has a specific icon, as displayed as the first item (icon) on the url bar in front of the website-URL.
I located the specific icon on the website (favicon.ico), opened it and copied the icon (copy paste).
Then I opened the properties screen for my shortcut (at the Desktop) (control click on link) .
Now I am supposed to copy the new icon (from my Clipboard) into the properties of the Desktop URL, but how do I do that?

You can change the favicon for a folder but not a specific Safari url.
Click a clear space on your desktop then go to the Finder menu and click File > New Folder
Move Safari url shortcuts to that folder.
Then copy and paste the icon for the folder.
