Windows 7 doesn't awaken with Ipod Nano 5G connected

Brand new HP computer w/Windows 7 and brand new Ipod Nano 5G. Left ipod connected to computer to charge. After computer powered down it would not restart. HP figured out that the Ipod was blocking the restart. If I unplug Ipod computer restarts fine. Anyone else finding this problem?

I had the same issue with my 5g video awhile back. The computer wouldn't boot with the ipod connected as it was recognizing it as a HD and looking for an OS to load from it.
I solved the problem by going into my BIOS and removing "boot from removable media" from the boot list. I'd give that shot, though not all BIOSs have that as a change able option independently.
-edit-
The specific computer I was having an issue on with this was an HP pavilion a1340n, but the BIOS I had installed was a custom cough*hacked*cough version I was using to install Vista and later 7.

My Windows 8.1 computer doesn't recognize my iPod nano 7th generation. Why?
When I connect my iPod to my computer, nothing happens. I've read the tips in the section "support" and I noticed that maybe Windows 8 is not one of the operating systems that are compatible with an iPod nano 7th generation. If I'm right, what can I do if my only device is a Windows 8?

    Hi, Grafiti.
Thank you for the question.  Below, I have attached a couple troubleshooting articles that will help resolve the device not being recognized by iTunes.

Here is an article I would recommend going through when an iPod is not recognized by iTunes or the computer.

Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:

  • My desktop all of the sudden doesn't recognize my iPod Nano when I plug it in (gives me an error message).  I've tried everything!  HELP!

Up until yesterday, my nano was syncing just fine with my iTunes.  Out of the blue my brand new desktop doesn't recognize my iPod Nano device.  I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes.  I've worked through all the diagnostics apple had to offer... but nothing.  Can you help?

Does this problematic song play okay in iTunes?  Have you tried removing and resyncing it to your device via iTunes?

I had this same problem. I was reading another discussion that had this problem as well and they suggested unplugging your printer. I have a Lexmark printer connected through USB. I unplugged the printer and my ipod has worked like a charm. Strange!

  • PC does not boot with Ipod Nano

    My configuration:
Shuttle SK83G, Athlon64 3000, Windows XP Pro, Logitech DiNovo wireless desktop.
    My problem:
If my Ipod Nano is connected the PC will not boot. The bios screen shows up and then nothing happens. I even can not access the bios. If I remove the ipod the PC will eventually start windows. But in absolute slow motion (I can see how the Windows startup screen fades in step by step).
If I connect my Nano after booting, everything is perfectly fine. Also with my Ipod Mini connected, the PC boots up without a problem.

it's not just a Nano problem, but a USB port problem
That's correct. USB is famous for this. Something in the BIOS (probably) is telling it to try and boot from the nano, but of course it can't find a valid OS there. And the solution is just what you suggested. Don't boot with the nano connected.

  • Ipod Nano Not connecting to Windows 8, Itunes

I am unable to get my Ipod Nano to connect to Itunes.  My computer is operating with the newest versions of Windows 8 and Itunes.  I have completed ALL the steps in the troubleshooting guide through Apple.  I would like to use my Nano during the delivery of my son next week.  I have looked for answers all over the internet, with no luck.  Can anyone help? I see that many people have had the same issue.  (My Ipad also did not work). Again, I have completed ALL of the troubleshooting items

    Hello again, Pheobesmum.
Thanks for the update on your issue. Some users that have had the issue you're describing have found that removing and reinstalling iTunes has helped them with the issue. The following article provides the steps on how to do this:

  • IPod Click Wheel games compatible with ipod nano 5th Generation

I've found the iPod Click Wheel Games by clicking the triangle that appears next to the "App Store" tab and clicking the third option, "iPod Click Wheel Games." But when I look at the details of any of the games it says they are compatible with:
"This game is compatible with iPod nano (3rd and 4th generation), iPod classic, and iPod (5th generation) only. It cannot be played on your computer, nor is it compatible with other iPod models or iPhone."
Does this mean that I cannot use them on my iPod nano 5th generation? or is the iPod nano being referred to as "iPod (5th generation)"
I guess it just seems silly that a game is only compatible with older versions or that the newest iPod nano can NOT operate older games.
Can anyone explain this? or has anyone tried to download one of these iPod Click Wheel Games and found that it actually Does work for an iPod nano 5th generation?

    Can anyone explain this?
I can't but Apple should be able too - U.S. iPod and Mac technical support: 1-800-APL-CARE (1-800-275-2273)

  • Games compatible with ipod nano (gen 4)?

Where are the games in the iTunes store that are compatible with ipod nano (gen 4 ...the tall skinny one without the camera)? Or have they been replaced/ deleted? 'Cause I tried finding them, and they're nowhere to be found; I know they used to have a bunch of 'em- I still have the old Monopoly version that works with my iPod nano 4th gen. But even that seems to have disappeared from the store. Does anyone know if it is still possible to find games compatible with older iPods, or has Appple tried to make the older models obsolete by no longer offering apps for them?
Any help at all is greatly appreciated, thank you.

i have tried looking for them as well they take the games off to make room for new modles. that is the only down side of having a nano that is why is want the ipod touch. and do not go in websites you will mess up your computer i have the same ipod and computer as you trust me don't bother looking you are just wasting your time.

    According to this page: http://www.apple.com/ipodnano/features.html
Track your walk. Or your run.
The built-in accelerometer in iPod nano gives you real-time feedback on your workout, and you can upload data to the Nike+ website. There’s no need to connect a receiver or use a shoe sensor to track your steps, distance, pace, and time. Just clip on iPod nano and go. In the gym, connect iPod nano to a Nike + iPod compatible cardio machine to keep track of every workout.
