Windows 7 doesn't like my ipod

I am running build 7600 of Windows 7, 64 bit. I downloaded iTunes 9.0 64 bit, but it doesn't do much. Every time I plug in my ipod it goes its connected, but ramps up the CPU to 100% usage and iTunes still doesn't recognize it.
Any ideas would help, thanks.

These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. FollowTroubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
The "device may need service" means a hardware problem. In that case make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • My Windows PC doesn't recognize my iPod as an iPod

    Hi,
I recently bought an iPod Touch 5 gen and when I plug it to my computer it doesn't recognize it as an iPod but as a non specified device. What's the matter? iTunes doesn't start up when i plug the iPod in, even if I check the box that says it. I must sync the iPod manually, and last.fm software doesn't recognize it as an iPod as well. I tried to plug my iPod to another PC an it works just fine. I cleaned the system registry but it didn't worked. I use Windows 8.1 and the latest version of iTunes. The strange thing is that even when the iPod isn't plugged in, iTunes says that it is plugged in. I really don't know what to do.

  • Windows Vista doesn't recognize my iPod nano 6th gen

I've had this iPod since Christmas, and last night when I plugged it in to my computer to charge, a little bubble at the bottom of my screen says: "USB Device not recognized." I've tried everything it said to do on iPod trouble shooting. I'm very poor and can not afford a new iPod, so any help will be greatly appreciated!
P.S: I apologize for my sophomoric descriptions. As you can tell, I'm not very tech-savy.

Sounds like you may need to reinstall itunes and all its bits. Here is an article from Apple on it:

  • Windows 7 doesn't recognize my iPod Touch 4th generation after I upgraded the device to iOS 5.

Has anyone had any success with syncing a 4th generation iPod Touch in Windows 7 64-bit after upgrading the iPod Touch to iOS 5? Up until I upgraded the device's OS I couldn't for the life of me stop iTunes from popping up and trying to sync anytime I simply wanted to charge the iPod, but now after the upgrade I keep getting a system message that the device isn't recognized. Any ideas...?

Boot Camp Assistant can only create its partition on your actual MacOS boot hard disk. So much care is needed to ensure that you are actually choosing the BC partition and not the MacOS's partition before proceeding.
Your Windows installer is likely to charge straight ahead and begin installing into your Boot Camp partition as a 10GB partition formatted FAT32 is acceptable to WinXP. IIRC, inside your new Windows installation there's a management facility to change your FAT32 to NTFS at a time of your choosing.
Boot Camp Assistant can only create FAT32 partitions, not NTFS. You can force NTFS at the start of Windows installation by creating a partition bigger than 32GB. WinXP will want to convert to NTFS before starting the installation.
A final note: 10GB? That's pretty small and just about useless for any serious uses of Windows. Ensure you leave enough free space for installation of your applications and allow for the Paging File too. At least 15GB and even better, 20-25 GB.

  • Windows 7 doesn't awaken with Ipod Nano 5G connected

Brand new HP computer w/Windows 7 and brand new Ipod Nano 5G. Left ipod connected to computer to charge. After computer powered down it would not restart. HP figured out that the Ipod was blocking the restart. If I unplug Ipod computer restarts fine. Anyone else finding this problem?

I had the same issue with my 5g video awhile back. The computer wouldn't boot with the ipod connected as it was recognizing it as a HD and looking for an OS to load from it.
I solved the problem by going into my BIOS and removing "boot from removable media" from the boot list. I'd give that shot, though not all BIOSs have that as a change able option independently.
    -edit-
The specific computer I was having an issue on with this was an HP pavilion a1340n, but the BIOS I had installed was a custom cough*hacked*cough version I was using to install Vista and later 7.

  • Windows install doesn't like my boot camp partition

I am on a late 2013 MacBook pro, retina display, running yosemite. I am attempting to run windows 7 through boot camp. I followed all the instructions on apple support websites, using a USB drive and my downloaded ISO image of windows 7 professional. I partitioned it with 40 GB for windows, and boot camp restarted and launched into windows setup. After selecting language and which version of windows 7 I wanted, it asked which partition I wanted to install on. I selected the 4th partition, the one labeled boot camp. I formatted it, as in the instructions, and then when I hit next, this message appeared.
"Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the setup log files for more information."
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and apologies if I missed this solution in another thread or and missing something simple.

  • Windows PC doesn't recognize iPod

I have bought my iPod (20GB, click wheel) one year ago with an extended warranty of 3 years. It was working well all the time. But now my Windows computer doesn't recognize the iPod any more although I haven't changed anything on it.
The battery can still be charged using the docking station. But as soon as I plug in the iPod on my laptop USB port the iPod freezes. The only message on my laptop screen says that the external hardware can not be recognized.
The USB port is working properly.
I have also tried to install the iPod update and to reset the iPod. Nothing is working. I guess I can't restore the iPod since it's not even recognized.
    Thanks, Annemarie

I thought I was alone with this problem. I recently went traveling last weekend, and began to think the X-Ray machines killed my iPod!
Whenever I connect my iPod to any computer using the USB connection, Windows will not mount it as a removable drive. The cable is good, because the iPod is being charged but Windows will not recognize it.
I have tried all the different USB ports, even on several different computers. Including my work, laptop, and my desktop. Windows will not recognize my iPod using the USB connection.
I'm in the process of restoring my desktop computer after a hard-drive failure (lucky me all my vital data were on a separate drive), so my desktop has a nice clean install of Windows.
My desktop has a firewire port, so I tried connecting to that port and Ta-Da, Windows recognized and mounted my iPod as a removable drive! Unfortunately my laptop nor my work computers do not have firewire ports.
Can anyone explain why the USB function suddenly stopped working? Does this mean I need to restore and loose all my music from my iPod? I do not let iTunes manage my music, I do that all myself. I can put my music back onto the device but it will be time consuming. If anyone knows the answer to this USB problem, perhaps you can reply to this thread or contact me.
    Thanks,
    Joe Vill
