Windows 7 driver for GeForce 320m Graphic Card and Broadcom wireless card

I just got my 11" MacAir (2011)and installed Windows 7 on it using Parallel software. Everything works fine except for the driver for the Broadcom BCM 43xx1.0 airport wireless card and for the GeForce 320m graphic card. Windows 7 cannot find the drivers. I have tried everything to find a solution: Downloaded the drivers from the Broadcom and NVIDIA websites, used the drivers that came with bootcamp and made changes to the nvao.inf file for the graphic card problems but nothing works. Does anyone know a solution to these problems? Many thanks.

Hi,
since Parallels is not an Apple product it would be better to use their own Support resources.
However, Parallels does not use the native (real) hardware of your Mac but virtualizes certain hardware.
The video adapter is a "VGA and SVGA with VESA 3.0 compatible Video Adapter" and the WiFi is mapped to a "Ethernet Virtual network card compatible with RTL8029".
For these virtual devices Parallels brings all drivers with it and names them "Parallels Tools" which you have to install manually while in our Parallels Windows virtual machine.
Refer to the Parallels User Guide http://download.parallels.com/desktop/v6/docs/en/ParallelsDesktop_UsersGuide/

  • No network and Broadcom wireless card

I'm new to Solaris OS, and I installed Solaris 10 with no network since I'm using a broadcom wireless card. Before installing Solaris10 on this box I had Ubuntu running on it and was able to use the ndiswrapper for the broadcom card.
But... I'm a bit lost now since I installed solaris 10 with no network at all. So my question is, how do I create a new network and get my broadcom card installed?

Solaris is a great OS... welcome to the fold.
First, Broadcom is not a good choice for any alternative OS including Solaris but OpenSolaris does have drivers despite Broadcom's lack of cooperation with other operating systems. I do suggest staying away from this vendor because of their "closed" nature of driver support.
That being said, the HCL at http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/hcl/ can help. As well as Linux and others. While vendors like Broadcom are closed, others are not.
My favorite has been Intel 82557, 82558, 82559-controllers, I bought a bunch of them dirt cheap years back knowing they were supported with Linux, BSD and Solaris. They work well in pairs too, use then for firewalls.
The best thing we can do is only buy hardware that works with all OSes.

  • I have a MacBook Pro 13inch 2.4GHz (Intel Core 2 Duo, 4Gb RAM, 250Gb HDD, NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics, SD card slot, up to 10 hour battery life)bought in October 2010 in the UK. The charger has stopped working. Which model and voltage do I need please?

I have a MacBook Pro 13inch 2.4GHz (Intel Core 2 Duo, 4Gb RAM, 250Gb HDD, NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics, SD card slot, up to 10 hour battery life) bought in October 2010. The charger has been playing up for a while now - the light going out but coming back on when I move the cable a bit - faulty connection it seems. It has now stopped working at all.
Apple UK charge a whopping £65 for a replacement - and the reviews are AWFUL for it!
I need to know which one I need - 45w, 60w and 80w are listed - can someone tell me please? If I'm going to pay this price I want to make sure I get the right one!
Also, is a genuine Apple one available on Amazon UK, does anyone know please?
Any help will be much appreciated.
Meanwhile my battery is going down.....

Thanks for that wjosten. Much appreciated.
I've read here on Apple's site that the 85W version will work, as you say, and that it would run cooler with a 13" Macbook - I have a 13" MBP of course but assume this would be the same with mine. I wonder if running cooler is a good thing (it sounds as if it is) and it would be better for me to get the 85W version than the 60W one?
Then I have to decide whether to pay the (extortionate as it seems to me, though I may be wrong) £65 from Apple (bearing in mind the rotten reviews here of the Apple product), or risk a cheaper alternative from Amazon UK, at around £20 (also with various rotten reviews)... Any suggestions? Please? :-)

  • Need HDCP-recognizing Bootcamp Windows driver for MacBook Pro's screen

I need a Bootcamp Windows driver for my MacBook Pro 15/Retina (MBR) that recognizes that the MBR's built-in screen in HDCP-compliant.  The current Bootcamp drivers for Windows do recognized HDCP on an external HDMI-connected display, but do not recognized HDCP on the internal display.
BTW, I've read some statements that Windows drivers don't recognize HDCP via DisplayPort connections, so I wonder if Apple is using internal wiring that acts like it's a DisplayPort connection?
Please do not suggest things that only enable disabling DRM HDCP protection from Blu-Ray discs.  I need a solution that to cooperate with DRM HDCP protection for content from live tuners, not from a Blu-Ray or DVD disc.
My application is using Windows Media Center (WMC) to play streaming content from my Silicon Dust HD HomeRun Prime (HDHR3) cable TV tuner on my MBR's built-in screen.  This works fine with an external HDMI-connected (HDCP-capable) display, but I also want to get this working on my laptop's screen for when I'm stuck in bed (illness, bad back, etc.).  The only application Silicon Dust offers for viewing HDHR3 tuner output on Windows (or any platform, as far as I know) which supports all protected cable channels is WMC, and WMC relies on the Apple-provided Windows NVIDIA drivers for HDCP capability.  The NVIDIA Control Panel explicitly recognizes my external HDMI-connected monitor's HDCP capability, but does not recognize the MBR's internal screen has having any HDCP.  This causes WMC to prevent the display of any TV channels at all from the HDHR3 when the only screen is the internal one (and it blocks DRM-protected channels if both screens are active in parallel).
I'm thinking that the best solution would be an NVIDIA driver for the built-in GeForce GT 650M for Windows 8 (or 7) which recognizes HDCP capability via DisplayPort.  Is there anything like that?  Or, alternately, some add-in driver that adds a layer of HDCP capability recognition to the standard drivers?
Is there any currently-available solution?  . . . something that will enable the internal screen to play all the tuner's cable channels including DRM-protected ones (either on Bootcamp'ed Windows or on the OS X side)?
P.S. -- FYI, the only other potential app I've read about for using an external tuner with a MacBook is an OS X version of MythTV, but (a) that requires an excessively long list of geek tweek steps (install an SQL application, create an SQL database, do lots of command-line tweaks, add & configure a backend app and then a frontend app, ... ) and (b) even then it seems it doesn't support channels that aren't marked "copy-freely", i.e., HDCP-enabled DRM protected content.

Strange -- sig's comment seems gone now.  I wonder why.
Anyway, I did try the latests NVidia drivers yesterday, afterall they explicitly say they added HDCP over DisplayPort, but no joy.  In the NVidia control panel (for Windows), external displays via HDMI have a left-menu section for HDCP that explicitly shows it's working, but there is still no such indication for the internal display, and I am still unable to use WMC with HD HomeRun Prime cablecard tuner to play anything on the screen except channels that the provider marks "copy freely" (e.g., Bloomberg news channel 722 isn't playable, but MSNBC 723 is playable).
My guess is that maybe laptop internal displays don't explicitly have internal DisplayPort and HDCP technology but have some kind of exception that normally allows playback?
As an alternative I wish there were cablecard tuner playback software on the OS X side that could play more than "copy freely" cablecard-tuned material, but there doesn't seem to be anything comparable to Windows Media Player that supports that.  (Now it should be clearer why this discussion belongs under MacBook Pro and not under Bootcamp where the moderators moved it.)

  • Best Driver for GeForce GTX 680MX

What's the best driver version number to use with the GTX680MX graphic chipset to use GPU acceleration without problems? (Win 7 64bit) Installed at the moment is 306.37 but the latest version is 320.49. I ask this question because I have seen Adobe refer to 311.50 as the latest recommended driver to use for the Quadro 4000 card (and other Nvidia cards). There is not a 311.50 available for the GTX 680MX. The version numbers start in the 310.xx range up to 320.xx
Does anyone know what Adobe recommend?

Using GTX 460, GTX 480, and GTX Titan cards, all of the 320.??? drivers are working fine for me for CS5, 6, and CC. (my testing has been from the older ones all the way up to the latest beta driver).
The only tip I would provide is to change one setting from the default:
    - 3D Settings / Manage 3D settings / Power Management mode = Perfer max. performance (default is "Adaptive")
Bottom line, I suspect for a GTX 680 with premiere, the exact driver version does not matter too much.
Also, BTW, I only load the GTX driver using the custom install option; nVidia wants to add loads of additional stuff that simply is not required for Adobe.
    Regards,
    Jim

  • Partitioning an External 320gb drive for use with Time Machine and...

I want to be able to use my Western Digital 320GB external drive for use with Time Machine and to use as extra storage space on both my Mac and when I boot into Windows Vista.
    Is this possible?
I was playing around in Disk Utility and would I partition the part I want to use for Time Machine with the Mac OS Journaled, and whatever I want as space for windows, use a MS - DOS format?
    Has anyone done this before?
    Cheers-

Unless you are using 64 bit version of MSWindows (64 bit XP/Vista), it won't be able to handle a disk with GUID partition table (GPT). Disks with Apple Partition Map (APM) or GUID partition table are the only ones that Time Machine will work with (not MBR disks). Note also that the MBR/APM/GPT are at the DISK level and not the partition level, so don't mix the format with partitioning scheme. Time Machine disks are meant to live in the Mac universe (for now, anyway) and sharing with the MSWindows 32-bit universe is not possible.

  • New driver for Broadcom wireless cards

Finally there's a driver for Broadcom wireless cards, including 4328 which only worked using ndiswrapper.

Actually, this driver already has a Wiki page, http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Broadcom_BCM4312.  The new information is that it doesn't just work with bcm4312 cards, but all modern 43xx cards.  See the forum links in the previous message.
The driver is already available in AUR,

  • Cannot extract Window driver for MAC

I have windows installed in my MacBookPro. The problem is I do not have Window driver for Mac. This is the reason why :-
I created a partition of Fat32 (that was my mistake). When I tried to load Windows using BootCamp - it did not work. It is asking me to go to Disk Utility anc conver the partition to Mac file system whcih I am unable to do that. To go round -
I have installed XP in the Fat32 partion without using Boot Camp. The problem is getting the Windows driver for Mac beucase I cannot use the Boot Camp.
Are there any way of getting Windows driver for Mac ?

You need a boot loader and that's what BootCamp establishes.

  • HT3702 Is it possible to have one credit card and two debit cards on my itunes account so that we can use different cards for different purchases?

Is it possible to have a number of cards (say one credit card and two debit cards) to be listed as the payment cards for my itunes account, so that different cards can be used for different purchases?  Or can you only have one card registered on itunes at any one time?

So is there any way that three members of a family can share one itunes account but pay for their own purchases, other than inputting their own cards each time they make a purchase.
No, there is no way to do that.
Or if we all have our own individual itune accounts, can we share each other's music, or can you only sync your iphone/ipad/mac, with one itune account at a time?
You can sync content from up to five iTunes Store accounts to any given computer or device. You just will each have to copy the content into your own libraries so you can sync to your devices and have your devices authorized to all applicable accounts.
    Regards.

  • HT201304 I have been trying for two weeks to log into iTunes using my Bank of America Visa Debit card but no progress. Is it that iTunes does not use debit card, I only have a debit card and  Not credit card, so does it mean I can't use iTunes .?

I believe if you haven't already setup an itunes account, if you have access to computer with iTunes installed , you can create an iTunes account on that computer with no credit/debit card and then just buy iTunes cards at your local retailer to get credits.

If you mean AppleCare, then I would believe the answer will be yes.
First make sure you have a full backup of everything on your Mac, then run, don't walk to your nearest Apple store.
Note: Due to your Mac now being in computer years, somewhat elderly, Apple may not have the require parts in stock. This will either mean you might have to leave it with them for a number of days, or maybe they will offer you a new Mac mini. While a new Mac mini (if offered) might be a welcome possibility be aware that the new Mac mini no longer has a CD/DVD drive and it comes with Mac OS X Lion and as a result might not run some of your old software.

  • Tried every way to install my broadcom wireless card and failed

Hello.. i asked this in the newbie section but didn't get any replies.. i really need help and i don't know where else to go.
i have an hp dv2500 laptop with a Broadcom wireless card.. here is the output of lspci | grep -i net
    08:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4328 802.11a/b/g/n (rev 03)
at first, i tried getting it to work with the broadcom-wl driver from AUR as suggested by this wiki page: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Broadcom_BCM4312
i followed all the steps.. however, i did get an error when i tried to exucute this line:
    insmod /lib/modules/2.6.30-ARCH/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/wl.ko
    and the error was:
    error inserting 'wl.ko': -1 File exists ...
i continued despite this error and when i was done, i couldn't detect the card with iwconfig or wicd.. the modules named "wl" and "lib80211" are loaded but i still can't detect it..
i uninstalled, re-installed and i got the same behaviour..
so then i tried the BCM43xx driver as described here: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wir … up#BCM43XX
i unpacked the firmware and restarted but i still couldn't detect it.. and i couldn't load the bcm43xx module because arch says was not found..
then i tried the driver after that "b43".. followed the steps on the wiki, restarted, and i still couldn't detect the card with iwconfig or wicd..
i have been trying to get this to work for 3 days now.. i appreciate your time and help in this issue..
    thanks

    thanks for the reply tomk..
so at least we limited the problem to using broadcom-wl..
here is dmesg after modprobe -r wl
Bluetooth: Generic Bluetooth USB driver ver 0.5

i'm not that good with gnu/linux, so i'm not sure if something is wrong from these messages... do they point to anything?
