Windows 7 DVD Not Bootable on MBP Mid 2007

I have a DVD I burned off the MSNDAA website's ISO.
The dvd seemingly reads fine while in OSX and it even showsup as a bootable option when I restart holding OPTION. But after trying to boot with it, screen goes black and says "No Bootable Device --..etc"
Now I've tried this exact same disk on a 2008 Macbook and it actually boots up.
I've tried every instruction I found on the net, short of installing rEFIt.
I want to install windows 7 through bootcamp, and I dont see why my DVD is not working on my mid 2007 MBP (2.4ghz)
Any ideas?

I do not understand why this DVD boots fine in one computer and not another...
That is a bit odd I must say.
I don't claim to be an expert on this topic, but the problem with booting from Windows 7 disk is all tied up with the fact that Macs use EFI instead of BIOS. I believe that 32 bit will boot much more readily than 64 bit.
The stuff in the linked thread is definitely required for 64 bit, but it may not be for 32 bit.
Are you sure you didn't have the 32 bit disk in the Macbook which booted, and the 64 bit in the one which doesn't?

  • Verbatim 3.0 USB not recognized bz MBP (mid June 2012)

Hi I am new to Apple and have just received my MBP 13' with SSD upgrade. I have also bought a brand new 64GB Verbatim 3.0USB stick.
This stick does not get recognized by the system and I can't seem to fix the problem. Other sticks work well.
There are a lot of common problems described on the internet, but they don't seem to help me.
    Thanks in advance,
    Lars

What are the system requirements for that model hard drive?  The few 1T's that I saw on Toshiba's website were only compatible with Windows.  None make no mention of Macs.

  • MBP mid 2007 help pls

    my cd-dvd_room is broket
pls any help to boot from usb and how if is posible

Then you need a way to put the OS X installer disc image onto the USB flash drive:
Clone using Restore Option of Disk Utility
Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the USB flash drive. Source means the mounted installer disc.
Because you need an optical drive for the installer DVD you need access to a Mac with a good optical drive you can use. You also need the OS X DVD installer disc.

  • Mid 2007 Macbook Pro will not boot from windows 7 DVD

I'm trying to install Windows 7 64 bit on to my mid 2007 MBP. The DVD is valid, boots on a PC and I was able to load WIndows 7 into a VMWare fusion virtual machine on the very same system. I am convinced from those actions I have a good DVD and a good DVD drive.
What happens is the screen goes black and "1. 2. and Choose type of DVD boot:" appear. ( I may have the phrase slightly wrong) No matter what I type nothing happens. I've gone into the boot selecter and same thing happens if I select the DVD.

so you did not burn the DVD from ISO? that is what this usually is.
the error and yours being 2007 says you are trying 64-bit and your Mac does not support 64-bit versions it has 32-bit ROM (and likely cannot upgrade past Lion when 10.8 Mountain Lion comes out).

  • MacBook Pro (mid 2007) freezes after upgrade to Mavericks

    Hello,
After the upgrade to Mavericks my MacBook Pro (mid 2007) freezes after a couple of minutes of usage - after successful install and the use of some apps. Not bad enough the system is now always crashing if I try to boot. PM reset didn't help. Booting from the restore partition was possible, but I decided to go back to a working backup of 10.8.4 made a minute before I tried to upgrade. Why 10.8.4? Because 10.8.5 causes the strange problem that the Mac freezes after wake up from sleep.
    Any suggestions?
    Anyone else having this problem?
    Kind regards

I did a clean install of mavericks on my MBP (mid 2007) and still it freezes at arbitary points. The very first time when it booted up it worked for longer and when I started to apply updates from app store, it froze. Successive boots froze much early, like within few seconds of booting.
I am going to check this by booting in safe mode.  I am losing hope with mavericks on my MBP (mid 2007) and will switch back to snow leopard (10.6.8) which was working seemless.
I checked so many things, based on other posts to make sure if my MBP is really Mid 2007. IT IS.
    Rgds,
    Raj.

  • When I restart my computer and hold the option key after creating a bootable usb with windows 7 and partitioning only the original partition shows up. Not the windows one or the bootable usb.

Okay so first things first this isn't the newest macbook pro. When I open about my mac and go to system report it says it is a Macbook Pro 3,1 and the Boot Rom Version say MBP31.0070.B07. Originally when starting up Boot Camp Assistant there where only two options, the "create windows 7 bootable usb" was not there at all. So after some editing and helpful tutorials I was able to get the option show up and created a bootable usb with windows 7 and downloaded the support software onto a separate flash drive. Finally I did the last step and created a second partition for windows. Once the process is complete my computer automatically restarts.
This is where the problem is. Once my computer makes the booting up sound it doesn't load up windows it gets stuck on a apple logo as if it's trying to reastart normally and can't. So I shut down and this time I hold down the option key during start up. It brings up the main partition and some recovery thing but no windows partiton and no bootable usb.
I forgot to mention that I am running OS X 10.9.3. Okay any body want to help me out? Iv'e been at this for hours and can't get an inch closer to having windows. Please and thank you!
P.S. If I missed a discussion that answer my question just point me to it. Iv'e been looking for a while, but who knows i might have missed one.

The only known way to make it work on an external drive is by first installing Windows onto an internal drive, then cloning the install to an external Thunderbolt drive. Thunderbolt is seen as an extension of the internal bus, so Windows doesn't see it as an external device.

First, you can install Microsoft's Security Essentials in the Win 7 VM and keep it up-to-date. Second, you can turn off Sharing in Fusion's System Settings to keep the VM environment separate from your Mac. Third, you can look into Sophos Anti-Virus http://www.sophos.com/en-us/products/free-tools/sophos-antivirus-for-mac-home-ed ition/download.aspx for the Mac host.

  • IMac running Lion will not read windows 7 dvd

    Hello-
I am currently trying to partition a part of my hard drive to run Windows 7. I open boot camp assistant and get all the way to where it says "install", I insert the windows 7 dvd and my imac spins it then spits it back out. I have tried several different things yet the results are all the same. I thought the drive may be bad so I tried a normal dvd and a cd, both read fine. I then tried an apple install dvd (lion) and the imac could not read that disc. So the problem seems to be that my computer just can't read install or data dvd's. Has anyone else had this issue?

If you want to run MS Windows Simultaneously with OS X you can buy either Parallels or VMWare Fusion. Follow the installation instructions for the app you choose, both do the same thing. There are several advatages of using Parallels or Fusion including:
    1. Running OS X & Windows simultaneously
    2. You can run Windows XP, Vista and/or Windows 7
You can also use Boot Camp which comes with OS X to run Windows 7. The downside is you can only run one operating system at a time, either MS Windows or OS X. If you are a Windows gamer this is the best option for 3D gaming. In order to install follow the instructions in Boot Camp Assistant, you can find BCA in Applications - Utilities - Boot Camp Assistant and then follow the on-screen instructions.

  • Windows Vista will not recognize the dvd drive in my Mac Pro

After running windows updates, Windows Vista can no longer find the drivers for the dvd drive. Any suggestions?

Thank goodness for restore points. That was all I needed to do (system repair, do you want to restore to last check point) to be up and running.
I found my problem documented as an issue with Samsung SATA + Windows 7, and my X58. Curious, as moving a working system from one motherboard to another would always end up with Samsung SATA DVD not working, but LG is fine... so looks like time to buy another SATA DVD.
This from /technet.microsoft.com exactly describes the issue:
*CD/DVDRW from TSSTCorp (Samsung) drive, after install W7 without any problem not recognized...* | Modified on 9/9/2009 4:48 PM by lmarcelo
CD/DVD/rw do not respond on the Windows 7 Professional RC 32 bit, I have an Intel G35 desktop board, and 2.3 Ghz. CPU Intel Dual-Core 2, with sata optical drive. (From Samsung) Works fine in the raw clean install, but after the second reboot in the device manager appears with a yellow triangle, so I can't read nor write any CD or DVD.
I did this several times, (Format and install), even with a new CD drive, but it's always the same. Using a 160 Gb. WD hard disk, and alternated with a 400 Gb Samsung Sata HD make no difference at all.
Problem: Can't do anything with CD-DVD drive. (Messagge in the Device System General tab Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)).
By the way, this configuration was working fine in XP Pro. SP3. Any hint? clue? same problem? any one?

Do you have a 15" mid-2010? If so then your problem is surely...
Mid-2010 15" MacBook Pros - the bad NVIDIA GPU
If you're having frequent kernel panics with your 15" mid-2010, or intermittent screen problems, the problem is, more than likely, the faulty NVIDIA GPU found in a number of those machines.
Here's just a sample of a kernel panic log that points to the faulty NVIDIA card:
Kernel Extensions in backtrace (with dependencies):
             com.apple.GeForce(6.4.0)@0x82ac4000->0x82b7afff

                dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily(2.6.5)@0x7a802000

                dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOGraphicsFamily(2.2.1)@0x8301b000
Here's the "official" Apple take on the issue - but the very real kernel panics need not be preceded by 'Intermittent black screen or loss of video'... in fact, you might not experience any video problems at all. Although video problems can certainly be a portent of things to come…
So what can you do? Print out a copy of your kernel panic and a copy of the Knowledge Base article and take them, along with your machine, to your local Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. The unfortunate thing is that many people have passed the “three years from date of purchase” now and Apple is not honoring the free logic board replacement for many users. Some dealers seem to be making some exceptions for those past the three year mark, but don’t count on it…
    Good luck,
    Clinton
