Windows 7 Evaluation Copy Build 7100

Installed your Linksys Gigabit 10/100/1000 Adapter today on Windows 7 RC1 Build 7100. It installed beautifully. Thought you all should know.
/JT

It is possible to upgrade the evaluation version to the RTM version with some fiddling as shown here.  It would be better to do a clean install.

  • Help! Need advice on how to upgrade to Windows 7 from Windows 7 Evaluation Copy: Build 7100

I am on an HP Pavillion Media Center m8200m PC.  The computer came with Vista on it and did not come with any Vista operating system installation discs when I bought it.  I did make a set of two system recovery discs from this original Vista operating system,  About 3 months ago, I decided to put on an evaluation copy of Windows 7 (Build 7100).  In order to do this, I had to remove Vista completely from my computer and then install the the Windows 7 evaluation download from Microsoft.  It has worked fine since, but will expire shortly.  I now want to put on a permanent installation of Windows 7, but am unsure how to do this.  Can someone please explain the procedure to me.  I have read that I cannot upgrade to anything directly from the Windows 7 evaluation copy.  Do I need to recover the computer and install Vista from the recovery discs  (providing I can reinstall Vista from these recovery discs), then upgrade to a permanent version of Windows 7 (from a less expensive Windows 7 upgrade).  Or, will I have to buy a full version of Windows 7 and start from scratch?  Also, is there a way to retain all my data on this computer during this new installation of Windows 7, or will I lose averything including programs, data, etc. and have to reinstall it once I have the new permanent operating system on the computer?
I'm usually pretty good with this stuff, but can't seem to get a straight answer.  I want to do this as soon as possible, so would greatly appreciate a straight, clear explanation of what to do.  I would truly appreciate it.

  • PSP [Playstation portable] not recognized by Windows 7 RC Build 7100

    Hello all,
I have a PSP [Series 1003]. Firmware : 6.10 [latest] . My PC's OS : Windows 7 64Bit RC Build 7100. Ever since i installed Win7 in my PC [new PC] , it was not able to recognize my PSP.
In the PSP it shows "Please Wait" when in USB mode. The USB ports of my PC are fine, because all other devices work properly [printer,joystick,Pen-Drive,external HDD -these are all what i've already used] .
Sometimes it shows it is properly connected, but when i go inisde the mem stick [from My Computer] it shows that the card is empty [I have songs, games, videos, other PSP folders etc in the mem card]. Otherwise it shows that the driver is not available etc.. PSP usually does not need a special driver as it act as a mass storage device.
It works properly in my laptop , OS : Windows XP Home Edition SP3. I have not tried connecting my PSP to any other win7 computers since i dont have any other.
    Please help me with this.
    Thank You

    Hello again to all,
Sorry that i didn't reply for a long time. I've been away.
My problem with PSP have been solved, surprisingly the solution was
"Tried connecting the PSP to a port behind my tower instead of the ports in the front panel".
I tried this because i read something similar in some other forum . I don't understand how or why it worked.
Also how and why it did not work. I dont think my USB ports have any problem because all other devices work
    properly.
    Thanks for all your help.

messega about my windows expired appear so i click windows store again [Im sure that it will resume my download progres at 30%] . But IT NOT. Im force to download again from 0%.
Now i try to search google for help :
-How to stop this damn restarting [BSOD in my case] every 2 hour because I CANT RESUME my last download how can i solve this problem?
Any solution you can give me will be A GREAT help.

You have screwed up your system and you're blaming the crashes on someone else.  You need to stop thinking it's someone else's problem.  Keeping your system healthy is your responsibility.
There is NO upgrade path from preview/evaluation copies to the released versions, anyway, so it really doesn't matter.  You have to reinstall
    something.
You could reinstall 8.0 and upgrade, or you could get an 8.1 disc and put that in as a fresh install (more expensive, but my recommendation), or you could see if maybe this can help you:

  • Windows 7 Build 7100 (release candidate): Boot Camp drivers not compatible?

I had a go at installing Windows 7 Build 7100 on my MacBook (aluminium) via Boot Camp. Windows 7 installed fine, but the Boot Camp drivers of the chipset and DVD drive don't seem to work.
I'll have a look at Intel's website for the chipset driver, but what's really annoying me is that I can't eject my optical discs.
Anyone else tried 7100 yet? I had none of the above problems in build 7000.

Tried 7077. A word or two of caution, these (Apple Boot Camp) is known to cause problems and was blocked.
Programs and drivers/installers that worked previously aren't, but that is the purpose of an RC.
Also, Apple iTunes has used GEAR drivers which have also disabled optical drives in the past and may do so again.
*What you will see when a program is incompatible:*
this has been formalized with an appearance by the familiar Program Compatibility Assistant window shown here.
    http://community.winsupersite.com/blogs/paul/archive/2009/04/25/security-softwar e-changes-in-windows-7-rc.aspx
Everything works well except Apple TimeServices when you change OS; OSSwitcher (control panel "Boot Camp" to change the default boot OS). Otherwise 7077 has run smooth, fewer problems than Vista (including SP1 and SP2(RC), and definitely much much better than build 7000.

  • Windows 7 RC Build 7100: No Audio on MacBook Pro 1,1 (Core Duo)

On Thursday, I installed the brand new Windows 7 RC Build 7100 on my MacBook Pro 1,1 (Core Duo). This version of Windows seems to be zippy and far more polished than Vista: boot time is much, much faster. So my main problem is this: I can't get sound to work at all. In the Device Manager, the audio device is banged out and shows as a "High Definition Audio Device" rather than AC'97 or whatever it's supposed to be. If I check the properties, under status it says, "The device cannot start. (Code 10)". I've tried to installing the drivers from RealTek about a zillion times, the Boot Camp drivers from the Leopard install disc and I've run all the little setup programs as Administrator and in Vista compatibility mode, but no luck. Has anyone else had any luck in getting the Windows 7 (7100) to run on an early model MacBook Pro with working audio? Thanks!

Can't speak for MacBook, but for the desktop Mac Pro, the audio issue with Windows 7 install on boot camp is a known issue. You probably need to install the Realtek driver from your leopard install disk. It worked for me. Fixed the audio in about 5 minutes.
    Try this:
    while running windows 7
Insert 10.5.4 or later Leopard disk
    Go to Boot camp folder
Locate the Realtek driver .exe file
Run it, it's an installer file
    Restart.
Fixed my problem, similar to yours.

  • Unable to Activate Windows 2012 Data Center Evaluation Copy

I installed a Windows Server 2012 Data Center Preview Evaluation Copy.  I am trying to Activate it now so that it stops rebooting every hour.  I obtained the Activation Key for a Full Version and tried all of the following to activate it:
    1.  Ran the following from other posts using the 2012 Data Center Full Licence Product Key.
    DISM /online /Set-Edition:ServerDatacenter /ProductKey: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX /AcceptEula
I get a "Windows cannot upgrade to the edition that was specified".  When I run the Get TargetEditions it says current edition cannot be upgraded to
    any target editions.
I also tried with the Product key for my Eval Version, as well as the DataCenter Standard.  None seem to work.
    2.  Called Microsoft and they tried to give me a CID.  This also did not work.
How can I activate this copy of Windows.  Is it possible?
if it is not possible, can you please advise on how to easily Reinstall and restore all my apps, registry settings, programs, firewall settings, network, etc.  I
have a lot running on this server and reinstalling everything is not an option. Is there some easy way to reinstall Windows 2012 Data Center FULL and just import all my settings?
    Any advice is appreciated.

As per Johan's earlier suggestion, it's unsupported to "convert" or "upgrade" from Preview -> RTM. I have not tried it personally, but I would expect the convert/upgrade to be blocked (but the messaging for that is likely to be vague/obscure,
since it is unsupported i.e. untested by MS)
The guidance from MS on this topic (as per the cited TechNet library links), is to perform a clean install.
Upgrades from pre-release versions of Windows Server 2012 (such as the Release Candidate) are not supported. Perform a clean installation to Windows Server 2012.
Your desire to backup the existing Preview installation may be able to be done in an offline scenario, e.g. boot the server from a Windows installation media, or a WinPE boot media of some kind.
With this backup saved to another disk, you could then try a clean install, and then import the VMs into the rebuilt server. I would not expect you to be able to preserve much else (installed applications etc).

  • Download Windows Server 2012 (not R2) evaluation copy

    Hi,
If I try to download the windows server  2012 (not R2) evaluation copy from http://technet.microsoft.com/de-de/evalcenter/hh670538.aspx, I always get a  Windows 8 ISO (9200.16384.WIN8_RTM.120725-1247_X64FRE_SERVER_EVAL_DE-DE-HRM_SSS_X64FREE_DE-DE_DV5.ISO)
Thats not that what I'm looking for. :-(
I need to do some compatibility checking for server 2012, therefore I need the ISO image to install on a server.

    Micha

    Hi Micha,
I checked the download link and the ISO file name. It should be OK. As Tim mentioned, would you please
let us confirm whether you had installed via this ISO file? After installation, did you find it was a Windows 8, not Windows Server 2012? Just a confirmation. Thanks for your understanding.
    In addition, if
you use the link (English version) as Farhad suggested, will encounter the same issue?

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 Std Evaluation Copy showing 'License Expiry' message in just 2 weeks after installation

I have downloaded an 'Evaluation' version of Win Server 2008 R2 Std.
just 2 weeks back. This is a 180
days evaluation copy. This has been installed on the Virtual box.
Now after just 2 weeks, it is showing the message  - 'Windows License is expired'. It is getting automatically
    shutting down (that
too an abrupt shutdown) after every hour or so without asking to save any work that is already in progress. As this is an 180 days' copy it should run at least for 180 days. Can anyone help me out to get this fixed? Thanks in advance.

    t43,
I don't remember what chipset was in the T60p, but I am sure they are all the same and will not address more than 3GB of memory even though the processor fully supports the 64-bit instruction set.  I don't believe that there are any programs out there that can tell you what particular chipset is installed in a system but use can use the link below to find a number of motherboard enumeration programs.  I tried the HWINFO32 program and it is quite good.
    http://www.stevenscomputerrepair.com/Motherboard%20Chipset.htm
To summarize, yes, on 3 GB systems, you are better with x86 than x64.
Note that since I wrote my original post, I purchased a new T500 with 3.06 GHz processors and 4GB memory. I am now running x64 and I must say that the system is much faster than x86. Photoshop (or Photopig as I call it) loads in 1-2 seconds. Can't wait for the price of the 4 GB DIMMs to go down so I can go to 8 GB memory!

  • Can I clean install a Windows 7 Pro System Builder on a Lenovo PC with Windows 8 preinstalled?

Hi. I would like to clean install windows 7 on a Lenovo PC  that came with Windows 8 core preinstalled. I want to format the entire drive and remove windows 8 and clean install windows 7.  I already tried the clean install of Windows 7 Pro to get all of my drivers in line, and now I would like to buy a Product Key.
Would  a Windows 7 Pro System Builder work in my case? Would it work just as smoothly as a retail version? I understand that the System Builder is an OEM version that includes the Product Key, COA, and DVD) Just want to make sure before I buy the System Builder version of Windows 7 Pro.  Thanks.
    Grazzie
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

that should be retail since it seemed to be used for pc upgrades either way your new system builder key should work. those are called refresh because they re-released them sincea bug was found in thier installers. Do you have any key in the computer atm? or is windows just waiting to be activated?
EDIT: its a good copy look here>  http://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/14-windows-7-direct-download-links
Should you want to use the DVD images permanently, and don't own a product key yet, you can order a Windows 7 OEM or retail version from Amazon. The OEM reinstallation versions contain a DVD with a product key just like the retail versions. They are significantly cheaper, but lack a proper box packaging, and don't include technical support by Microsoft. The OEM key will work with the Digital River downloads, so you can just pick the cheapest one. Sometimes better editions are the cheaper ones, so all of the following links to Amazon offers might be worth checking. I've already tried to find good deals for all editions and linked to them here:

  • 3d Graph shows "Evaluation copy" in distributed executables

After I built a LabVIEW 7.1.1 application using 3D Graph (including 3D Graph support), it worked fine on my machine. On another machine without LabVIEW 7.1.1 installed, there is a popup saying:
Error loading control. A newer version needed. The default settings for the control will be used.
The control itself displays a large Evaluation Copy but it works.
There are other posts reporting similar behavior but nothing that applies to that situation.
My guess is that the ocx installed by the Installer is not the same as the one installed on my machine which may have been updated with recent versions of VISA.
I tried to reinstall the LabVIEW 7.1.1 update but it says that there is a problem with the installed Run-Time Engine.
On development machine: cw3dgrph.ocx is version 8.0.0.212
On the installed machine: cw3dgrph.ocx is version 7.0.0.344
    How do I fix thiat?
    LabVIEW, C'est LabVIEW

    JeanPierre,
I hope you're doing well.  Just to clarify, this issue only happens when you distribute your application in an installer and run it as an executable on a PC without the LabVIEW development environment?  If so, NahoY's comment is very pertinent.  This KnowledgeBase discusses some advanced techniques for using Application Builder, which includes building an application with an .ocx file and running a batch file to register it.  Let us know if this is helpful!
