Windows 7 Firefox 5.0 Yahoo Mail font sizes

When I change the font size in Yahoo Mail "compose message" the font size on screen always appears as my default 10 point, and I cannot see what I am actually composing. I forwarded a test email to a second Yahoo account of mine and hey presto, the different size fonts were displayed.
I then forwarded the test email back to my first Yahoo account and the various fonts sizes were displayed. On trying to forward that email on my "forwarded message" reverted to displaying 10 point on my screen.
I seem to have accidentally sent emails with HUGE text in them as I cannot see what I am actually writing and the font size sometimes changes unnoticed. Any suggestions?

Try the Firefox SafeMode. <br />
''A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons.'' <br />
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default Theme.)''
# You can open the Firefox 4/5/6/7 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
# Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running. <br />
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.''
If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />

    HI Emmet,
thanks so much for your posts back. I really appreciate it and yes that does help to know that you could not get it working.
I did have some success, in removing the SSL Authentication checkbox in the smtp server settings - I found that this allowed my friend to be able to send mail from the mail app via his sbcglobal (yahoo) account.
So that did help but of course the messages do not have ssl encryption and I'm not sure how big a deal that is for an individual. He is able to receive mail but unless the SSL authentication box is unchecked, he cannot send.
i hope that helps anyone out there also!
Thanks also for the tip about sparrow - yes I have heard of it and it is very popular, he may end up using that in the end.
    Thanks again, much appreciated.

  • How to stop automatic pop-up window "Firefox wants to use the font "Stone Sans Sem OS ITC TT Semi"?

Everytime I open Firefox I get the irritating pop-up window "Firefox wants to use the Font "Stone Sans Sem OS ITC TT Semi" on the volume, the font is not installed. I installed the font, but I still get it.
The window gives me options "Do not ask again" "Show in Finder" "Don't Allow" "Allow".
I click "Do not ask me again" and "Allow" but I keep getting this every time. How to stop it?! Thanks.

    Hello,
I understand the default font size in your Yahoo! Mail composition page
is stuck on 24. I love to help.
Based on the information within your email, I'd like to offer a few
troubleshooting steps outlined below that you can try from your
computer. After you complete each of the steps, you will want to test to
see if the issue is still present.
    - Disable any Internet browser Add-ons or Plug-ins. This made no difference
    - Temporarily disable any security software. This made no difference
    - Delete your Internet browser Cookies and Cache. This made no difference
    - Update Flash Player. This made no difference
    - Ensure that JavaScript is updated and enabled in your Internet
    browser.This made no difference
    - Restart your Internet browser. This made no difference
    - Restart your computer. This made no difference
    - Temporarily switch to a different supported Internet browser. Switched from Firefox to internet explorer. Made no difference.
    - Test from another computer, please include the results of this test
with any response to this email. This made no difference
    - Test from another location, please include the results of this test
with any response to this email. This made no difference
-I manually reset zoom in firefox. This made no difference.
    here's what Yahoo support concluded:
Thank you for working through all of the steps we outlined in our previous email. I have tried to replicate the issue that you are describing, and unfortunately, I was not able to do so. Given that I have tried everything I can, the only thing left for me is to suggest that you contact Customer Support for your browser manufacturer. They would be in the best possible position to continue troubleshooting you specific issue.

I don't know what you mean. These are emails that I am originating, not that I am receiving. Those that I receive are okay...except insofar as they reply to an email I sent out in the first place, in which case, my fonts are 24 pt (or thereabout).
    Thanks for persisting!

  • AOL Mail Font Size

When I use AOL mail in Firefox, the font size switches between 10, 11, and 12 without my changing anything. Does anybody know how to fix this problem? It works fine in other browsers. Also, is there a way in Firefox to make copied and pasted URLs automatically format as hyperlinks?

Do you mean the font size changes as you are typing a message, reply, or forward?
A user reported this problem on a different mail site, that sometimes after pressing Enter, the next paragraph would use a larger font size. I don't think we discovered the reason for that at the time, but the workaround was to use Shift+Enter to create a line break instead of pressing Enter. (This adds a line break into the current paragraph instead of starting a new paragraph.)
Regarding hyperlinks, some mail sites detect and "linkify" them automatically, either in real time or if you save the message as a draft or when you send them. If AOL's site does not have that feature for Firefox users, then unfortunately you will need to use a button to insert the URL as a clickable link. I don't use AOL, but the way this works on other sites is that there is an icon which typically looks like 2 links of a chain, you click that, paste the URL, then click Insert or OK to insert the link into the message.

  • Apple Mail font size too small for father

My father just purchased a iMac with Mountain Lion OS and a 27 inch screen.
My father needs to be able to read the text of the AppleMail window.
We have increased the size of the fonts to 18 to make it easy for him to see what he is typing in the email editing window, however, none of the other display fonts in AppleMail increase.
The increase in font size is intended by Apple to provide an Accomodation to provide Equal Access for those with Sight Disabilities to the Essential Functions of use, however, this intent appears to have failed within AppleMail.
Would a different mail reader (gmail, etc) provide this font sizing ability?
    Requested Remedy:
Provide the ability to increase font size for all of the AppleMail display.

'Preferences' doesn't solve the problem, since it only alters the font size of text for a single message, and doesn't alter the Mailbox Pane or Message Panes.
The Mailbox Pane is enlarged outside Mail, using the System Preference's 'General' setting for Sidebar Icon size - this also alters sidebar text size.
And the Message List is enlarged most easily by a Terminal command
    - it's only a single line, cut'n'paste:
defaults write com.apple.mail RichMessageList -bool FALSE
Then restart Mail and adjust its column sizes for the newly enlarged fonts.
This thread gives a full discussion of this solution and its clumsier alternatives:

  • Mail , font size mystery

Good day, my normal font size is 18. Yet, when attaching pics or a grab via Preview the font size for my attached message goes down to 12 automatically. How do I get it to stay at 18? Thanks, Duncan

Are you talking about the font size for received messages?
If so, this is caused by the sender using HTML for message composition.
Copied from Why HTML in E-Mail is a Bad Idea.
Because it introduces accessibility problems. When you write in plain text, the receiving mail client renders the text in whatever font the reader chooses. When you format email with HTML, the sender controls the formatting. But this is a trap: You only think your message will render the same way to the viewer as it appears to the sender. In reality, the receiver can end up squinting because the font looks so tiny, or vice versa. HTML is not rendered the same way from one viewing client to the next - all guarantee of accessiblity goes out the window. This is especially problematic for visually impaired persons.
With such a message open, at the menu bar go to View > Message and select Plain Text Alternative and all text will be converted to your chosen Message Font and size selected at Mail > Preferences > Fonts & Colors.
There is also a Terminal command available that automatically converts message text composed in HTML to Plain Text for all received messages.
Sorry if you are referring to something else.

  • Firefox freezes in yahoo mail

Using Firefox 3.6.10/ Whether I am using my windows xp laptop or windows xp desktop, I have this problem.
After I compose a new message, in either of my 4 yahoo accts, and click SEND, it does not go to the page that says 'your message has been sent' like it should. The page stays the same but the "sent" button is greyed out.
Note that I have to refresh the page to be able to go to my SENT folder or anywhere else in Yahoo mail after that. And it does show that the message was sent.
I use the Webmail notifier add on. Luv that program. Dont know if this is what is causing the 'freezing' in my Yahoo mail & on both pc's.
I read in another thread to delete a pluggin "npYState.dll" from yahoo in my program files. This fixed the issue for one day only.
So I am still having issues.
Anything else I can try/ Thanx in advance

The issue is there are a host of compromised certificates and Apple hasn't bothered to update their browser or operating system.
Of course Microsoft, Google and Mozilla all updated theirs, but Apple is dragging their behinds.
The best thing one can do at this point is use another web browser and make sure it's updated and check the plug-in versions as well
    https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
If your using Safari, the above plug-in check isn't as accurate on flash, use this one to check

If you use add-ons or extensions, remove them all and replace from fresh sources.

  • When using Firefox -loging to Yahoo mail - see account but then get error page says i have lower resolution than 1024xx600- have new computer and set at 1600x900, cleared out past history etc but does the same - can log in w/chrome but not firefox

I don't know what else to say

That can happen if you zoom Yahoo mail websites.<br />
Yahoo uses a script to check the screen dimensions and zooming a page affects the window and screen width and height settings.
Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems.

  • How can I get extra scroll bars in Firefox to read Yahoo mail on a small screen, the way Explorer has?

When I read my Yahoo emails on my little Asus eee pc, I have to use Explorer because it has extra scroll bars that allow me to scroll back and forth to see things that there is no room for on the screen. Firefox doesn't have these scroll bars.

    Hi ncleeno,
I understand that on a small screen you would like to know how to add scrollbars to the page so that you can read parts of the email that are not on the screen.
I have not tried this myself, but I think in about:config: In order to change your Firefox Configuration please do the following steps :
    # In the [[Location bar autocomplete|Location bar]], type '''about:config''' and press '''Enter'''. The about:config "''This might void your warranty!''" warning page may appear.
    # Click '''I'll be careful, I promise!''' to continue to the about:config page.
    # Search for scrollbar and I believe layout.testing.overlay-scrollbars.always-visible set to true would put these on.
dom. disable_window_open_feature.scrollbars is the one that is set to false by default as well that prevents the scrollbars on a popup from being disabled. i am not sure if viewing Yahoo mail is a popup. I do not use it, but I will assume its not.
    Did this help?

  • IOS "Mail" font size keeps varying...

How do I get Mail on the iPhone/iPad to always display the same font size? Sometimes the font is too small to be readable and I have to pinch outwards to increase it. It gets annoying after several instances...
    Thanks!

Go to "Settings" and after that click at "Mail, Contacts, Calender". Than there is a list where you can decide how big do you want the font.

  • How can I stop firefox for android from increasing font sizes on some pages?

I try to get my browser to show websites exactly as they would look in my Firefox for desktop pcs. Checking "show desktop version" helps, but still, on many sites the font size is almost doubled compared to my laptop's browser. a good example would be the amazon site. Not only the font size but the whole layout seems bigger, although both my laptop any my tablet have the same screen resolution. Changing the text size setting to tiny didn't have an impact on any site at all.
Also, is there a way to manually zoom in/out of a website like strg+ -/+ in the normal firefox does?

This is an interesting one. I'm not a web developer so others will be able to give a more thorough answer but I think the thing is that the navigator.userAgent is not the only source of information about your device available to the site.
Recently user agent sniffing has become less popular because browsers tend to catch each other up and, for example, you don't want to force IE10 users to view a web page designed to get around lacking features in IE6. See the following links for more info on this:
    * http://jibbering.com/faq/notes/detect-browser/
    * http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8970800/is-server-side-useragent-detection-bad
    * https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Browser_detection_using_the_user_agent
I expect what is happening is that the site is instead using feature detection of some kind and is varying the images served based on the features it can detect rather than the useragent string of the browser you are using.
As far as I can tell there is no setting in Firefox for Android that is default-zooming in on desktop websites. It just displays what the site provides.
