Windows 7: Flickering Video

I'm assuming this is a video driver problem, but when playing simple games I'm guessing using a 3D Accelerator, the dynamic images flicker. Is this is driver issue? How can I fix this? Can I just download a straight brand new driver off Nvidia for Windows 7?

I have the Flickering Video with Windows also. Windows often does that. I've never found a fix.

Help, I installed parallel and windows, and opened videos (on an external hard disk) with windows, and now cannot open them with Mac, and use i movies.  How do I reverse this?

Paragraphs help the reader, just saying.
What are you actually trying to do? Why do you need "DVD size" folders if you're creatng an Archive on an external hard drive?
Also, I understand burning folders instead of individual photos or albums gives you more space on a DVD.
It makes no difference at all.
How can I keep the captions on my photos (not events) when I print or transfer to a new folder?
You can export while writing the metadata to the file in most cases.
Tne only way I know is to copy photos from the Windows to folders on my HD, then copy and paste photos or albums or events to HD, then create a new folder and fill it to the appropriate DVD size.
HD? Another HD? You use HD there in a way that makes no sense. What's the point of 'DVD size'?
I also thought I should download future photos to my Canon programming that comes with EOS cameras and edit and then decide which photos to save to iPhoto library and which to save only to my archival HD?
Does this have any relation to the previous questions? You know you can delete from iPhoto, right?
You're somewhat confused and you need to
    1. Decide what exactly you want to do
    2. Then go about it.
If I understand you correctly - and there's no guarantee that I do -  the easiest thing is to bring all your Photos into iPhoto and do everything from there.
You can have an archive on an external disk, you can sort and select and edit with or via iPhoto

To map the drive on your computer click on Start - RUN - type "\\192.168.1.1" and click ok... When prompted for Username and Password type "admin" and click ok... Now you will be able to see the folder which you have shared on  your router, right click on it and select "Map network drive" and click on finish.
Now it will map the drive on your computer and you should be able to transfer the file from your computer to the USB drive.

  • Can't see video in canvas window on my video Monitor!

I am having trouble seeing the video that is in my canvas and viewer Window on my video monitor. I Have firewire in to my DV Deck and S-video into my monitor. I can see when I play back at DV tape and everything digitizes ok so I know the firewire isn't bad. I have checked the Audio/Video settings and everything seems right with what the manual says to have. Am I missing something somwhere?

I am having trouble seeing the video that is in my canvas and viewer Window on my video monitor.<<</div>
Define "trouble." Can you not see it, or its it just difficult to see? Do you see it only when the playhead is paused? Have you checked to make sure View->External Video->All Frames is checked?

  • Windows 8 Introduction video starts every time i reboot

    Hi Fellow Lenovo'rs,
Just got a x1c, and havent used it for more than a week yet. However, since yesterday, the windows 8 introduction video that plays when you make an account for the first time, "swipe left" blablabla always plays everytime i reboot my laptop. Of course, i can just alt+f4 it, but its getting quite frustrating and slowing down my boot times.
Have any of you here experienced this problem? If so, how do you fix it?
Thank you advance for your help!

Well, the version you are running is extremely out of date. Please [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Updating Firefox Update Firefox]. It shouldn't require a computer restart, only a restart of Firefox.
Now, Firefox shouldn't be giving an error when you start the computer, unless somehow it got placed in your startup items. Can you go to Start > All Programs > Startup and see if it is listed in there?

  • Flickering video in timeline and export from premiere

I called tech support, and they said on Friday (07.18.2014) that they would call me back monday, and then never heard back from them.
Anyway, I need to downgrade from Adobe CC2014 Premiere back to the previous version of Premiere, and I have to do it immediately. The upgrade from CC to CC2014 has resulted in flickering video in the timeline and the final render, I can't figure out what it is except to say that it didn't do it before I upgraded.
If anyone can tell me how to get back to a lower, more stable version, I'd appreciate it. I don't want to use a crack, and I am paying for the service - I need this issue to be addressed right away, or to get back to a stable version while I wait for them to make CC 2014 more stable. If my only choice is to use a crack, someone just say so, and when the upgrade becomes more stable, I'll go back to it.

So, I was never actually provided with a fix for this, just a workaround that doesn't really satisfy outside of getting a clean render. They had me change my sequence settings to 25 FPS (???), which I would never have thought to try on my own, since I don't shoot, edit, or output in that setting. That said, if I edit in a sequence that is 25 FPS, but export at the 23.976 that I shoot in, I get a clean render. This clean render, however, has only happened once, and I have no idea if it's going to be consistent. The reason that this works was never made completely clear to me.
That said, I'm sticking with Premiere CC for now, until Adobe can fix the software to work the way it's supposed to. I honestly don't expect this to be fixed, so it may be next year before I update. I also received bad advice from the person running the twitter account (they told me I could "save as" to get a file out of CC 2014 that would work in CC), and I lost about three days of work trying to get a flicker-less render (1.5 days on trying to fix it myself, and another almost 1.5 days total trying to get results out of tech support, who said they would call back on Monday, but never did).
No rant here, those are the facts. Buyer beware on upgrading...make sure to have a backup installer for a previous version if you feel like you want to try upgrading.
Lastly, the link posted by John Smith doesn't work for Premiere, although the link I posted in response to him, does.

  • "Flickering" Video after Export

I'm very new to Premiere, and I seem to be having some issues with exporting my video. It's hard to describe exactly what the problem is. The video plays fine, but periodically seems to "flicker" or "wiggle". I can't tell exactly what's happening, but it seems like some pixels get moved upward and some colors are changing. The video that I used as a source was made in CamStudio with the CamStudio Lossless Codec. Premiere wouldn't accept this, so I had to use a program called VirtualDub to convert it into something that Premiere would take.
I've tried a number of export settings (changing formats, frame rate, aspect, bitrate, field order), but none of them seem to fix the problem. They just seem to change the delay between flickers.
Most recently I've tried the following settings. These have gotten me the best so far (longest delay between flickers)...
1920x1080 (1.0), 59.94 fps, Progressive, VBR, 2 pass, Target 27.89 Mbps, Max 40.00 Mbps, AAC, 192 kbps, 48 kHz, Stereo
According to Windows, the frame rate of the original video is 1000 frames/second, which is much higher than Premiere will let me go. Could this be part of the problem?
    UPDATE:
Here's a video to show what I mean.
Message was edited by: Andrew Tapia

I talked with customer support. They suggested that the bug is a result of how I encoded the video in VirtualDub. I used Xvid MPEG-4 codec, and the representative suggested I use a format that is generally more compatible such as H.264 or QuickTime Animation (RLE).
I redid the the conversion with VirtualDub, this time using x264. Unfortunately, this simply introduced new issues when I tried to edit the video.
Interestingly enough, the issue shows up in the preview this time.
I don't know why there are still issues. I would try QuickTime Animation, but I don't know of any free software that would let me perform a conversion. Does anyone know why this happens? If not, does anyone know what software I could try to transcode the video?

  • Flickering video with correct field order? help!

On the moment I've got a long term running problem.
I've got a uncompressed 8bit quicktime movie, saved using the sheer video codec with adobe's premiere pro on a machine running windows.
I convert this file to a m2v file so I can import it in DVDSP and burn it on a DVD. When viewed on a CRT (tv) monitor, all movement 'flickers' awkward. This seemed to me a clear case of wrong interlacing. After checking this didn't seem to be the problem, field choice was correctly set to 'bottomfield', the right choice for PAL interlaced video.
My second thought was this could be a windows-mac misinterpretation of some kind. Therefore I encoded the sheer uncompressed file another time to a uncompressed file using compressor, and then compressed it to a mpeg2 file. This didn't help; the video was still flickering on TV.
I thought, in this case, compressor somehow wasn't able to make it bottomfield, so I started trying all kinds of combinations and software to get the stuff lower field.
Two things helped. The first was to de-interlace the material in compressor, but this isn't the nicest option when your base-material is interlaced.
The second was to import the uncompressed sheer file into Adobe's After Effects (interpret as: lower field interlaced) and exporting it as uncompressed progressive; compressing this file to mpeg 2 (interlaced: lower field) using compressor solved the problem. hurrah!
    But then another problem arose..
When interpreting the material as lower field in AE, the titles at the end of the movie turned really ugly, like a mouse had bitten small bits out of them..
This didn't occur when the material is interpreted as progressive, but when this is rendered to a 8bit uncompressed quicktime file, and then compressed to mpeg2 using compressor the movement flickering turns up again on CRT monitors.
The (base)material is full of strokes when viewed in Quicktime and filmed using a Betacam SP camera PAL, so it can't be progressive.
Is there another explanation for the flickering except from wrong interlacing?
So yes, How do I solve this? (with compressor)
So no, How can it that the flickering still occurs even when I export on fields: lower with compressor?
I hope that someone can help me cause it's really eating my nerves now..
(ps I hope that I didn't make to much faults in my english..)

Vikram - I had carried out that process.
Srinivas - My problem is in the field of purchase order value where i am getting double the value 4000 in the place of 2000 in INR. As my client is INDIAN client he has a transaction in USD ones for which it is showing 250 in the place of 250 USD( no changes for this)  in SAP R/3 side when i check my data source 2LIS_02_SCL in RSA3.

  • Gnome 3 maximised windows constant flickering

    Hi guys,
New arch user here but with quite a few years of gentoo daily usage. I have decided to switch to Atch and I am quite happy with the so far... however I am hitting a nagging problem which I did not see described anywhere in the forum (or in google search results).
Inside Gnome whenever I maximise a window, such as Firefox or Gedit or Nautilus, that frame (window) flickers constantly and sometimes simply goes blank (as in, totally white). The gnome shell top bar remains there all the time.
I can also see a few odd and interesitng behaviours.
    1. this behavour does not occurr if the window is not maximised, even if it is resized manually to take all desktop space it does not flicker.
    2. if I switch to the gnome dark theme (using the tweak tool) then the gnome native apps like Gedit and Nautilus no longer flicker, it all returns to normal
    3. in gnome-terminal, and while using the white theme only the window top bar flickers, not the terminal are itself. Once again swithching to the dark theme solves the problem
    4. I tried to do a screencast to better ilustrate the problem and to my desbelief when I played it back the flickers where not visible on the video even though I saw them while recording
My first reaction was to play around with the driver options and I tried pretty much everything including disabling hardware acceleration but it did not improve things.
I then installed another window and desktop manager. Openbox+LXDE, and I could not see the problem anymore. At this point I started to suspect that either gnome-shell or mutter (the window manager) were playing tricks so I launched a standalone mutter session (whithout gnome-shell) and put an xterm on it. If I maximise the xterm then the whole window (frame) goes blank... (same behaviour as seen above)
So I have a feeling it is the window manager but I am a bit stuck on what to do next to diagnose the actual problem. Mutter is pretty much locked up.
Has anyone came across this issue before?
A few details on my setup:
Asus Zenbook UX301 with an Intel Iris 5100 card
Kernel version: 3.15.7-1 (standard arch build)
    And the graphics stack:
      intel-dri 10.2.4-1
      xf86-video-intel 2.99.914-1
      xorg-server 1.16.0-5
      gdm 3.12.2-1
      mutter 3.12.2-1
      gnome-shell 3.12.2-1
NOTE: I am running a "custom" version of cairo (compiled from their git repo) in order to take advantage of the recent HiDPI support in Gnome but I can tell this problem existed even without this custom versions, that is, while using the compiled version from extra.

    RE: ooo
Yes I regonise those sporadic flashes. In fact, it all started out with those flashes once in a while, again on maximised windows mainly and then the flickering got more frequent, now being constant. Interesting that I saw some of these with xorg-server-1.15* as well.
I have tried playing around with the driver options, including switching to UXA or even disabling accelaration entirely and unfortunately it does not seem to help and of course you are right, there is a noticiable drop in performance compared to SNA.
At the moment, I am still running gnome shell with the dark theme which mitigates the problem... not sure why. However apps such as Firefox or Chrome are not affected by this "colour scheme change" and therefore continue with white title bars and displaying the problem.
I am surprised I don't see more users complaining about the problem since Intel cards are quite widespread these days. Perhaos we will see more as people ugrade to xorg 1.16
This probably does not affect all cards and potentially with different severities. The only other thing that may have an impact is resolution, I have a 2560x1440 display.

  • Live! Cam Voice + Windows 2000 - No video input

    Hi all,
Since purchasing my Live! Cam Voice, I've always used it with a Windows XP Home machine. Recently, though, I tried to use it with a laptop running Windows 2000 Professional. The installation process encounters no problems and applications like MSN Messenger detect the cam without any difficulty. However, when *any* application attempts to view video from the camera, nothing is returned but darkness (I have lights on :-P) - it's as though it's simply not been switched on. Anyone got any ideas for dealing with this?
    Mike
    If anyone's interested, the laptop's spec is . . .
Model - Compaq Armada M700 (USB2 connectivity provided via PCMCIA card)
    CPU - Intel P3 650Mhz
    Memory - 92MB
    HD - 6GB
Not sure about anymore details of the spec (graphics accelerator, etc) - I guess Googling for the model would give more details.

I am having the same problem. I am using windows Vista and have tried?recording sound in other applications and it works fine, just not when trying to record in LIVE! cam. I jbought this cam 2 months ago and just now find out it does not work when I need it the most. I am due to give a video presentation in two weeks and will probably have to buy a new cam, what a dissapointment!

  • WINDOWS VISTA ITUNES VIDEO PLAYBACK ISSUE!!!!!! AAHHHHHHH!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!

am using a Dell XPS GEN 5 PC with Windows Vista Premium Edition as the current OS installed. I have latested up date for Itunes and QuickTime (7.1.6) Installed. I have recently bought and downloaded 3 of the Original Star Trek Tv Shows from Itunes. When I try and play one of them, they don't work. The Screen comes up, the show starts, then stops. Sometimes the sound keeps on playing, and then stops. Sometimes it just dosent even come on. I'm guessing (as a highly advanced Windows PC User) That this ia a "video/playback issue, related to a Apple/Vista Compatibility problem. I would like help solving this problem.

    hi slideaway!
my computer has a right proper meltdown, switching itself off and restarting to a "Windows has recovered from a serious error" sort of message.
good lord. are you getting any sort of blue screen? if so, what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
here's a reference on the sorts of things i'm asking about:
    Troubleshooting Windows Stop Messages
if you're not seeing a blue screen (or just a flash of one), we can use this technique to make hidden blue screens appear for us:
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.

I have a computer with Windows Vista and I can't get iTunes video to work properly. The sound will be fine, but the video skips and stops and then finally I get an error message saying that iTunes has to close. Please tell me that there is some kind of solution. I have updated my Vista software, my itunes software and anything else that I can think of.

First Update your iTunes Version to the newest one!
Got this issue with older iTunes when Vista was new.
If its still there check the CPU Usage and RAM Usage with the Task Manager (STRGALTDEL)
