Windows 7 Games
My windows 7 machine does not appear to have any of the default windows games on it. All there is are sample games that must be purchased. Where are my regular windows games?

How can i install windows games in my macbook pro
I m a game lover but since i've macbook pro,i haven't played any game on my macbook...so guys please tell me how can i install windows games to my macbook pro.
As eww said, that computer isn't specifically made for gaming. To get advanced graphics in a game, your computer needs what is called a "discrete" graphics processor, or GPU. This means a seperate chip that processes graphics. In Apple laptops, these are only found in the 15" and 17" MacBook Pro. It is not common to find these in laptops in general that are not expensive and high-end. What you have in yours is an "on-board" or "integrated" GPU. This means that graphics processing is done by a small portion of your main processor (the Intel i5 board). This takes away a portion of primary prossessing and dedicates it to graphics. This works perfectly find in most scenarios, but video rendering, gaming, and 3-D graphics tend to suffer. Most high-end, modern games require discrete GPUs to run at full quality these days.
As far as running Windows 7 and Mac OS both, yes you absolutely can. If you install Windows 7 via Bootcamp (this would require you to have a Windows 7 CD), when you turn on your computer it will default to opening up in Mac OS. But if you hold down the Option key (bottom of the keyboard next to the Command button) while the computer is booting up, it will ask you if you want to open Windows or Mac OS. -

Why do Mac games have higher system preferences compared to Windows games?
Hello,
I am wondering why Mac games have higher system preferences compared to Windows games?
For example "The Movies" game on Mac requires:
Mac: OSX 10.4 Tiger or later,
PPC G4 1.67 GHz,
512MB RAM,
64MB video card,
DVD drive (minimum)
Whilst on Windows:
PC: Windows 98SE or later
800 MHz CPU
256MB RAM
DirectX 9.0c compatible sound and video card.
Now anyone can see the amount Windows needs compaired to Mac but why such a huge leap.
And this isn't only on "The Movies" it's the same with "Sims 2" and "Age of Empires"
If you know why could you please respond.
Thanks,

Can I partition an external hard drive to run windows games on my Macbook Pro
I want to play windows games on steam but I am not sure if I want to partition my Macbooks hard drive. I heard you could partition external hard drives but didn't know if you could run games on that external hard drive. I have a lot of files on my computer and don't want to take time to move my files to the external hard drive, so can I buy the external hard drive and then partition it to run window games or do I have to partition my actual default hard drive?
Hi! If your macbook doesn't have a cd drive you need to have Windows 7 but an ISO image, you can't just copy the contents of the copy into a USB and expect it to work. There are many tutorials on internet on how to obtain an ISO image from an installation disc, for example: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/software-tools/a/create-iso-image-file.htm As for "just download Windows 7" (i suppose you mean free download) this is not the right place to ask, believe me. Try searching Windows 7 ISO on google, but be careful with what you download and form where, also you are going to download the Windows drivers from the Bootcamp program, try reading this manual to give yourself a better idea: http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1636/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_ 10.8.pdf

Bootcamp or Parallels for windows games?
I only use Bootcamp generally to play windows games on my Mac. It is a pain to have to constantly reboot each time to play the game and then switch back to my Mac side and vice versa. I just learned about Parallels for mac. Is it worth it to change to this system to avoid the rebooting? Basically the most important concern: Will the games run as well using Parallels as they do on the Bootcamp only version?
Thanx for any help?Hi,
Parallels (and VMWare Fusion, too) have only support for DirectX 8.1 with experimental (limited) support for DirectX 9.
Since almost all newer games rely on at least DX9 and DX10, if the hardware supports it, these games simply won't run in Parallels/Fusion.
Nonetheless Parallels/Fusion are great applications for running Windows alongside OSX, but they are not very suitable for gaming in Windows.

Open GL Problem in Windows Games
I have a problem playing Windows Games under Boot Camp in the native screen resolution of my imac (1600 x 1200.) The graphic card is the ATI Radeon HD 2600
When I try to play Doom 3 and try to set the screen resolution to maximum an annoying error occures: In Doom 3 after restarting the game the screen resolution is back to 640x480 and there is no way to get it startet in 1600x1200. In Medal of Honor the game crashs with a "Could not load open gl" error message. Same error comes in Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
When I set the screen resolution down to 1280x800 everything works fine in all three games and I can play.
I think there is a problem with the drivers from ATI in connection with the HD 2600 and Open GL based games. I first got the error with the patched ATI Radeon drivers that can be found on the net, so I managed to use the original ATI driver from ATI's website. No effect. The error is still there.
Does anyone no, what the problem is? I would be very happy to play the games in high res again. (My Dell PC boosted these games with a resolution of 1920x1200, so this hurts a little bit...)Hi and welcome to Discussions,
you can not use a resolution that is higher than the native resolution of your iMac display, which is 1680x1050.
Even if only one of the numbers is higher as the native resolution (in this case the 1200, while the 1600 will fit) this resolution is not useable.
Therefor only the next lower resolution can be used.
Maybe with tweaking some settings of Doom 3 (and the other games alike) following these hints http://www.techspot.com/tweaks/doom3/doom-2.shtml you might be able to get the 1680x1050 resolution.

will windows games now be able to play on intel macs?
No. It isn't the processor that dictates whether software may be used, but rather the operating system. Only Mac software will run on the new iMac, either as universal application, or under Rosetta (by emulation). The only way to run a Windows-based game would be using Microsoft Virtual PC (which to my knowledge will not run under Rosetta), or, if someone was able to find a way to load and run the Windows OS on a new iMac.

Abnormal Termination of Java programs caused by windows games
I tried to find something in the foruns and newsgroups but no luck.
Whenever I open windows games like Broodwar/Starcraft and
Counter-Strike and close them, my Java apps disapear.
My apps are an IRC client and jEdit.
Do you know why and how to solve it ?
Thanks very much :-)
Windows 2000
JSDK 1.4 finalUpdate the video driver, then look at the command files/batch files used (if any) by the games for setup/tear-down stuff.
It is possible for a game to cuase any/all/certain dos-programs (Java's JVM uses Command.com) to exit, by cuasing the command interpreture (command.com) to exit and go back to windows explorer shell.
Hope that helps. -
Playing Windows games on Mac Pro?
I'm giving my son my Mac Pro 3,1 2.8 gig dual quad core machine. He wants to play Windows games on it. How does one set that up? Also, he wants to upgrade the video card to the ATI 5770. Does he buy the one for Apple or Windows, and does he need special drivers? I'm getting a new Mac Pro 12 core. Thanks.

To see early startup you want an Apple compliant card. To play games you may be fine or want something more, depends on game and what level of performance.
You install Apple drivers and all the normal Windows gpu and other drivers.
And Microsoft Security Essentials.

Hey guys, i'm a complete noob here so bear with me.
I am going to be buying a 20 Inch IMac in the summer or maybe even a 24 inch depending on the answer to the following questions:
Can the 24 inch IMac with the 7300 graphics card play Windows games (Bf2, half life 2, Armed assault) WELL with a certain program and what is the program?
Sorry if i seem arrogant, i have been searching a while to find somewhere for support, if you could answer these 2 questions and provide links that would be great.
I am tired of windows and it's constant failing, help me switch over to Mac.Right now, Bootcamp burns you a CD with Windows drivers; not all the drivers are suitable for Vista yet, so some devices in your Mac will not work properly if booted into Vista. Consequently, it is recommended that if you use Bootcamp at this time, you should not attempt to install Vista, but rather you should use Windows XP SP2 instead. Presumably, at some future date, drivers that work with Vista will become available.
I don't know if you're understanding that Bootcamp does not run Windows. All it does is create a Windows partition on your hard drive and burn a CD of drivers for Windows. At that point, Bootcamp's work is done.
After that, then you grab your Windows install CD and install Windows on your Mac, just as you would do with any old Dell or Toshiba. Then your Mac can boot into Windows and be just like any other Windows PC.
You really should go to the Bootcamp forum and talk to people who actually have done it. -
Playing windows games on my iMac?
I have a pretty good iMac I bought it about 18 months so it's not the brand new one it has 8 gig memory and I have just installed mavericks. I am getting frustrated that I can't buy a lot of the games I see advertised. I really want to buy Skyrim but it won't run on a mac I have been told to buy parallels but before I spend the money does it allow you to play the top windows games? I assume I will have to buy windows 8 as we'll so just wanted to ask before I fork out about £130
Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Don't use apps like Parallels if you want to play games.
The first thing you should check is your iMac model, so open > About this Mac > More Info. Then, check which Windows versions you can install in this website > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5634?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
As your iMac is recent, you should be able to install Windows 7 and 8, both in 64-bit. You have to buy a full Windows version.
To install Windows, Apple provides you the Boot Camp Assistant (in /Applications/Utilities), which guides you through the steps. Follow these steps to install Windows > http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1636/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_ 10.8.pdf
Remember to install the most recent drivers for your GPU in Windows -
