Windows 7 & HD connected to Airport Extreme

I have an external hard drive connected to an airport extreme base station.  The drive is formatted in FAT32 and can be read by both a mac and a pc when attached directly to the computers.
My windows 7 machine sees the network, sees the drive and when i click it all it says is ".com.apple.airport.sharepoint"
Airport is configured to share files and disks.
PLEASE HELP

Apple does not support using a disk drive connected to the AEBS which is most likely why support for it is disappearing.

  • Windows XP lost connection to airport extreme base station

I had a perfect connection after setting up my Airport Extreme with my Mac Book Pro and my HP laptop and one HP desktop then when trying repair media center. I did install the airport utility in XP but when trying to scan it cannot pick up my base station. It worked perfect before now I am at a hold and I don't know what direction to take.
    Some questions.
How do I find the IP address on my Airport?
Do I need to create a new wireless network since the airport utility does not pick up the base station?
When I search available networks on the PC why doesn't mine show up?
Can someone point out the steps to take to get this crappy PC back on the internet, oh by the way it's my wife's and now she's on mine and I need to get her back on hers ASAP!
Thanks I appreciate your time to help out!

    >How do I find the IP address on my Airport?
The default LAN-side IP address of the AirPort/Time Capsule is: 10.0.1.1.
    >Do I need to create a new wireless network since the airport utility does not pick up the base station?
You shouldn't have to. Assuming that the base station is still providing a wireless network, you should be able to access it with the AirPort Utility. To do so, run the utility, and then, select File > Configure Other ... from the utility's menu bar. Enter 10.0.1.1 in the Address window and the Base Station Password in the Password window. If you did not change the Base Station Passwork, the default is "public."
If you are still unable to access the base station via the utility, then try temporarily connecting an Ethernet cable between the computer and the base station ... and then, try accessing it again.

  • Parallels with Windows XP and connecting to Airport Extreme Wifi

I would like to be able to go on the web on the Parallels side of my MacBookPro but can't seem to do it. Does anyone know the workflow in Parallels/Windows XP to connect that side of my laptop to my Wifi connection? I've tried Network Connections > Create New Connection, but it doesn't work. I also tried Control Panels > Wireless Network Setup, which allows me to select the name of my Airport Extreme to add a new computer to the network. However, when I click Next, I get Use a USB flash drive or Set up a network manually. It still doesn't let me connect the Windows side to the Internet via the Wifi connection, and I don't think the Wifi connection is working on that side. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Karen

P.S. Under Network Connections > Details, it says
    Local Area Connection
    LAN or High-Speed Internet
    Connected
    Parallels Network Adapter
    IP Address:
    (address shown)
    Subnet Mark: (shown)
    Automatic Private Address
When I go to Internet Explorer, it says I'm not connected. ???

  • Windows laptop STOPPED connecting to Airport Extreme

I have a Macbook w MacOS 10.6.4 and a Airport Extreme 802.11n + Time Capsule. The Airport Extreme is also connected to an External HDD.
My problem is that my Win XP laptop used to connect fine to the AE wifi network till 3 weeks back...but now does not. The WinXP laptop can see the network but does not connect to the Wifi. I see a line saying 'IP address not assigned'
    Can someone help me out?
    Thanks

I powered down the cable modem, Router, laptop, wireless bridge etc. and then powered them up after waiting for 10 mins with the sequence being
    1. modem
    2. router - Airport Extreme n
    3. laptop
    4. wireless bridge
Win XP laptop still does not connect. The wireless bridge (Buffalo Technologies WLI TX4 AG300N) gives the following error message...
"Home network available. IP address not acquired. Enable DHCP on router."

how do I connect my airport extreme to windows 8.1

Connect an Ethernet cable between the U-verse router's LAN port to the WAN (circle-of-dots) port on the AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS). Since you will have two routers in series, you will want to reconfigure the AEBS as a bridge. How can I access a USB disk drive connected to Airport Extreme from a Windows 7 PC?

...Called it a roaming network.  Wireless mode is create a wireless network. I have checked allow this network to be extended.  Probably need to uncheck that?
Yes, that option should be deselected as it only pertains to when both routers are interconnected by wireless. Since you have a roaming network, they of course, would be interconnected by Ethernet.
The other important settings for a roaming network are:
Each router must have a unique station name. For the AirPort, this would be called its Base Station Name. I believe the default station name for Linksys routers is: linksys
Each router must broadcast a wireless network with an identical Network Name. For the Linksys, Network Name is the same as its SSID.
Each router wireless network must use the same Wireless Security type and password. The Linksys WRT-54G is capable of up to WPA2 Personal. If you have it set to this level of security, the AirPort should be at the same setting.
Make sure that each router is not on the same Radio Channel for the 2.4 GHz radio. In the US, there are basically only three non-overlapping channels: 1, 6, or 11. Set each so that they don't use the same channel but use of those three choices.

  • How to connect the Airport Extreme to Windows 2003 network?

    Hi there,
I recently bought an Airport Extreme. I plugged the wired cable to the Airport that previously was in my MacBookPro and gave me access to our Windows network.
What do you need to do in order to access the Windows 2003 network from the Airport Extreme?
Thank you very much in advance your help!
    Wildeagle

    Thanks Tesserax!
    for your support..
I changed it the way you told me..
it is very simple... and sounds very logic..
But after I did changed it in the correct IP address of the server
and I changed the IP address of the Internet Router (this was a must concerning the AP utility)
1> the internet was slown down..
2> the server was not reconisable by the iMac.. he gives the server a PC status ?!?!
3> the connection was poor and was not found in the AP network
very strange so I changed it to the old version
    is there really no option?
perhaps with the DHCP? or with the Internet router?
    FYI
    I have:
1: Internet/ connected with a HUAWEI router, recieved from my internet provider
2: connect the Huawei router with the AP Extreme Router
3: connect the AP Extreme router with the Server NAS
4: AP Extreme router is the basis.. and from there I do have an Apple Airport Network

    Hi gingerjedi,
It's normal with your actual Airport and confirm by Apple, but ...
Only If you see your printer in Airport Admin Utility under Printer :
    1) Download and install : http://www.openprinting.org/download/printdriver/macosx/foomatic-rip-2008-01-30. dmg
    2) Download and install : http://www.openprinting.org/download/printdriver/macosx/gplgs-8.61-ub.dmg
    3) Download and install : http://www.openprinting.org/download/printdriver/macosx/hpijs-2.7.10-UB.dmg
    4) Repair permissions with Onyx or with your Install Disk
    5) Restart your computer
    6) Restart your connection with your Printer (Cable-Power-Connection with your Airport)
    7) In Prefs Panes, select Printer ( + ) and install a new Printer
    8) Select your indicated Printer in the menu choice. If you have a Name for your Airport, give this Name under Place or Emplacement (excuse, i am French) and select HP Deskjet D2400 Foomatic/hpijs (recommended).
    9) And click Done
With this Solution, you can just print. All other software possibilities can not run under the Airport. It is normal.
I think all is ok for you.

  • How do I access external hard drive connected to AirPort Extreme via iPad

    Hello,
How do I access external hard drive connected to AirPort Extreme via iPad / windows laptop.
I donot have a Mac and I use windows laptop.

For your iPad, you will need an app, like FileBrowser, to access the external drive.
For your Windows laptop, you would access the drive like any other network share. The basic format is: \\<servername>\<sharename>, where, in this case, the servername is the base station name and the sharename is the name of the external drive.

  • Win XP SP3 Can't Connect to Airport Extreme

I am trying to connect my MacBook Pro and iMac running Windows XP SP3 to my Airport Extreme and I am not having any luck. The computers connect fine under OS X. Airport set with WPA2 Personal. On Windows I select WPA2 (not WPA2-PSK) and AES. I type in my password when I try to connect. I do not get an error but it is continually looking for the IP Address. I also downloaded the Windows Utility for Airport and can make any changes I want. Therefore, I know I can connect to it.
Any ideas on how to set this up?

Turns out I had the wrong password. Windows does not tell you this, so I had no way of knowing.

  • Windows, Mac Non-wireless Mac, Airport Extreme and Printer

I bought a Canon Pixma MP500 printer at the Tice's Corner Apple Store. We wanted to put this in the back of our Airport Extreme and did so. Here is our hook up:
eMac Airport Extreme Cablevision Cable Modem
    Printer
The eMac goes through the ethernet input, and the other ethernet input goes to the cable modem. We have a printer in the back hooked up as well. This Airport Extreme provides wireless security and working WiFi internet to the eMac, a wireless iBook G4 and a wireless HP-Compaq NC6220 Windows XP computer. We have the macs hooked up to printing correctly, just not the HP-Compaq. Thus it is wireless nad connects to our internet interface fine (yes, the wireless switch is on), it is a company computer with a VPN and firewall (that allows for printer installation). Note that the HP-Compaq nc6220 uses Intel ProSet Wireless as its wireless client. I tried installing Bonjour for Windows and the steps in the article in the link: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107998and it did not work. Therefore, I cannot wirelessly print on all 3 computers. The main problem is the HP-Compaq. I am out of things to try.
If anyone has any advice, I would apreciate them to post back. Check back soon,

If the PC is connected to the work VPN then it is part of the work network and can no longer access local resources on your network such as a printer.
If the VPN is not operating then try these guides.

  • Imac will not connect to Airport Extreme when configured WPA/WPA2

Imac will not connect to Airport Extreme when configured WPA/WPA2
    Posted: Jul 5, 2007 8:22 PM Reply
I just got my Imac to connect to the internet using my Airport Extreme but only by using WEP. I had my Windows XP SP2 machines connecting using WPA/WPA2 with no problem. The Imac will not connect using anything other than WEP, and 1 of the XP machines will not connect using WEP.(I have not tried the other XP machines) I had to set the Airport Extreme for an open network in order to let both computers access the shared hard drive and access the internet.
I don't know what the problem might be and would appreciate any suggestions.
MacBookPro, Imac   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   Fujitsu tablet PC, 2 XP desktops

hehe...on the visuals. I figured it out already, and I have the old airport card. However, I did a chat with Apple support and while we were chatting I found a USB adapter with MAC drivers which will work. It is:
Hawking Technology HWUG1A Wireless-G USB Adapter with Removable Antenna for Macintosh
    Manufacturer Part# HWUG1A
That is the only adapter that actually does WPA/WPA2 that I can find that is for a Mac and not just an older USB that only does WEP. It surprises me that Apple does not have a USB product like this. Anyway, for $56 including shipping, I will have it by Monday or Tuesday. Pretty cool.
Thank you so much for your assistance. It is appreciated.

  • Does Windows 7 work with an Airport Extreme. Mine does not recognize it

Does Windows 7 work with an Airport Extreme. I can't get mine to connect with it? The package insert says it only works with XP or Vista

    This should help:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86258
Use system profiler to identify which iMac you have
exactly. If your iMac has USB 2.0, then I think you
can only fit Airport Extreme anyway.
I have a question too ... I'm about to fit an Airport
Extreme extreme card to my 15 inch USB 2.0 iMac too.
Is the aerial already built in? I presume one is
    required in some form?
James--I'm afraid that your link doesn't help me. I'd already seen that, and found that my iMac seems to correspond to two different categories--being both a 17-inch flat panel, and a 17-inch 1GHz. According to Duane's post, iMacs with clock speeds of 1 GHz or greater take the Airport Extreme card. According to two different individuals at a local Apple Store, I got two answers. One said Extreme, the other said, nope, the old Airport. How do I determine the "for sure" answer? Anybody know?
FWIW, here's my sys profile info:
    Hardware Overview:
    Machine Model: iMac
    CPU Type: PowerPC G4 (3.3)
    Number Of CPUs: 1
    CPU Speed: 1 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 256 KB
    Memory: 512 MB
    Bus Speed: 133 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: 4.5.8f1
    Serial Number: QT3050UCNHX
Thanks any and all for help.
