Windows 7 Home premium recovery disc

Hi guys. This is my first post. So i own a HP pavilion dv6 3010-us which runs Windows 7 Home premium 64 bit. I had a problem with my laptop and the only way I knew how to fix it was to perform a clean install of the OS. So I gave a guy my laptop to reinstalll my OS and he installed a different OS! My laptop now runs on Windows 7 Enterprise. I want my laptop back to its default factory OS. My laptop didnt come with a recovery disc, it only came with a recovery partition on the hard drive. But whenever i attempt to boot up my laptop in recovery mode, it tells me "BOOTMGR is missing" I don't even know how to fix this error. And my laptop isnt even booting up windows now cause I set the recovery partition, that is not working, as the active partition. Please how do I get my laptop back to its default OS? I dont have a recovery disc and I cant order it/them from HP. Is there a way that i can create a recovery disc that will help me fix my laptop? (If im able to restore my laptop to factory OS, I hope i'll still have all the HP features and software)

You won't be able to recover to the original operating system.
Once the guy installed W7 over the original one, you lost the use of the recovery partition. It is basically useless space now.
The only other thing you can do is to use the product key (if you can still read all 25 characters of the W7 product key) on the bottom of your notebook to install the operating system that came with your notebook.
Most dv7 consumer PC's come with W7 Home Premium 64 bit, so here is the direct link to the Microsoft digital river W7 x64 Home Premium SP1 ISO file.
http://msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/X17-24209.iso Windows 7 Home Premium x64 English
Make sure you get the whole file to download.  Sometimes it reports download complete but you didn't get the whole 3.xx GB file.
Then either use your DVD burning program's burn ISO file option to burn the file to a DVD so that it is bootable.
Burn at the slowest speed you can.
Or, use this tool to transfer the file to a 4 GB USB flash drive or DVD.  This tool will also make the media bootable.
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/windows-usb-dvd-download-tool
Then go to your PC's support page to get the available driver and software you need.
If your notebook is running OK with W7 Enterprise installed, then doing the above will not change anything other than to provide you with the operating system that came with your notebook without any of the additional software.

It is not understandable for me why you have ignored Toshibas reminder about recovery DVD creation but it is definitely your mistake and now you have this stupid problem.
Maybe somebody can help you with this but you should leave your e-mail address here.
By the way: if you are ready to give some donation then you can also pay this 30 euro and order original disc for your notebook model.

  • How do I re install windows home premium OA?

I had windows home premium OA on my computer , but I believe it was accidentally uninstalled from my hard drive.  I have the product key that is on my computer.  I was having trouble finding the correct link to reinstall it on my lap top.
When I went to the microsoft Website all I found was support for windows 8 .  Can you give help me with the proper link? thank you

Please provide the manufacturer and model of your pc.
It is possible you have a hidden recovery partition on your hard drive which may be used instead of a recovery disk to restore your system (and Windows) to factory defaults.
Recovery procedures vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.
You should also search for any recovery disk/s that were supplied with your pc. Manufacturers invariably charge a significant fee to supply replacements.
If you decide to use borrowed/downloaded media to reinstall Windows on an OEM pc, the process may not be straightforward. Without some experience and patience you may end up with no other option than to pay a professional to finish the job.
Microsoft does not publicly provide download links for Windows. While you may stumble upon an official download source, beware that many unofficial sources will come pre-loaded with viruses, trojans etc.

  • Can I change the OS of Touchsmart 610 from Windows Home Premium to Windows 7 Pro?

I have 610 1100me system loaded with Windows Home Premium 64 bit.  We bought it from Dubai and is in use in Pakistan.  It started giving problems after few weeks of use.  Its' hard disk makes noise and sometimes, system could not find boot disk.  Most of the times blue screen of death and hanging issues.  Any idea about this issue and how to fix it?  My observation is that the culprit is hard disk!
Also, can I change its OS to Windows 7 Pro or ultimate (32 or 64 bit)?  Where can I find all drivers for Pro or Ultimate?
Many thanks for your valueable advice.

    Hi,
Nearly nothing change interms of drivers required for Windows 7 (HP, Pro, Ultimate) unless you switch from 64 to 32 bit. You can reuse your current HP 64 bit drivers for 64 bit W7 Pro or Ultimate.

  • Yoga 2 Pro - How to get Windows 8.1 recovery discs

Hi all. I just purchased a Yoga 2 Pro and immediately wiped the disc and installed Debian on it (which is working fine.) While I can't imagine myself going back to Windows, it would probably be useful to have the Windows 8.1 recovery discs (or USB drive) available, just in case. (Warranty return, selling it to someone, etc.) Unfortunately, during the Debian install, the recovery partition was deleted, so I can't create the recovery discs/USB myself. How can I get a copy of the recovery discs?

Good day and welcome to the community.
For factory image recovery media, you'll need to contact Service (info below). There may be a charge for the media.

  • Windows Vista's Recovery discs

I cannot load the Windows Vista's Recovery discs (3 in all).  The Recovery manager didn't open.  I went up to step 3 only.  I guess the recovery disc (disc 1) didn't work .
    This question was solved.

    Hi:
Sometimes the recovery disks don't work for one reason or another.
If you can still read all 25 characters of the Vista product key on the Microsoft COA sticker on the bottom of your PC, you can make your own Vista installation disk which should at least get an operating system reinstalled on your PC.
    Here's how:
If you're up to a slight but rewarding challenge you can make your own if you can read your 25 character Vista product key on the PC.
Just download the 3 files you need at the link below, and read all of the instructions to create a bootable DVD installation disk using imageburn.
Disregard the part of the text under the first screen shot about "extract the files to the Vista folder."
The files were already extracted to that folder when you ran the X14.exe file by reading the text on top of the first screen shot.
The other thing I noticed is on the 4th screen shot, where it shows Developer ID Microsoft Corporation. I had to type Microsoft Corporation in myself, and then the other codes automatically populated.
When I went to compile the ISO file, ImageBurn gave a message that about a WIM file and ISO, and if I wanted to burn it in a different format.
I selected No, make the ISO file.
It was not that hard to do. I burned both the 64 bit disk and the 32 bit disk in case I ever need them.
I tested both of them on my hp dc7100 CMT desktop PC, they worked perfectly.
When you enter the product key, it knows what version of Vista you have.
After you successfully install Vista, you can then install the drivers from your PC's support and driver page.
Update:  This is the new link to make your own Vista installation media.
Click on the link below and then click on the PDF link labeled Windows Reinstallation Guide.
Follow the instructions on pp 295 - 297.

  • Buy a Toshiba Vista Home Premium recovery disk, or buy Windows 7?

I just bought a used Satellite L355D-S7810, but without any of the original disks.  The laptop originally had Vista Home Premium 32 bit (and it has the COA sticker for it).  I won't go into a long story.  Suffice it to say I had to wipe the hard drive.  I installed XP because I already had the software, but trying to get all the drivers has turned into a real pain.  So, I am considering two options:
    1. Order a Toshiba recovery disc so I can "recover" back to Vista home Premium (32 bit). Cost: ~$30
    2. Buy Windows 7 (64-bit).  Cost: ~$180 (For a full version)
Cost-wise, it's a no-brainer.  However, I've never used Vista or "7".  Seems I've heard a lot of complaints about Vista.  Which is easier to work with?  Or, I should ask, which would give the best performance on my Toshiba laptop?
    Thanks

    Jerry,
Thanks for replying.  I worked on the XP install for hours!  After I got the NIC driver installed, I was able to download most of the other device drivers through the Windows Update web site, and things were going pretty well until I downloaded and installed about 67 "critical" Windows updates.  Big mistake.  After that, the laptop would not boot at all.  I'd see the start-up screen with the Toshiba logo, then it would go to a completely black (although backlit) screen with a blinking "cursor" (really an underscore) in the upper left-hand corner.  After just 3 or 4 beeps... nothing.  Just a black screen.  Nothing else.  No hard drive activity.  Nothing.  I rebooted multiple times to no avail.  I couldn't even get into safe mode.  Finally I tried a Windows XP "repair".  After the repair I could get as far as the Windows logo screen, but then I'd get a blue screen with a long error that went by so fast I couldn't read it.  I have no idea what happened.  I think you are right.  I'll just get the recovery disc and hope it has all the right software.
    Thanks,
    Chuck

  • It always Bootcamp asistent 4 doesn't recognize Windows 7 Home Premium install disc

    Hi there,
I've search half a day for answers in already existing threads but haven't found a solution, so now I dare ask this question.
    I have a Imac Mac OSX 10.7.5
Processor 2,7 Ghz Intel Core i5
    Memory RAM 4GB 1333 MHs DDR3
I want to install with Bootcamp (version 4) Windows 7 Home Premium but after have tried numerous times Boot camp says that it cannot find the installation disc. I downloaded an ISO version of Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit from the website http://best-windows.vlaurie.com/boot-disks.html#full
and burned it on DVD-RW 4.7GB (TX). I also tried various other versions which I burned but with the same result. I wonder it's the type of DVD I use or the versions. Bootcamp doesn't accept burned installation discs?
If somebody can help me I would be thankful
    greetings
    Guy

Unfortunately, you can't buy just a key. Well, large organizations can get site license codes, or multiple individual codes so they aren't buying hundreds of boxes of media when you only need one, or a few for distribution. If you were able to get a working disk put together from the download, you'll only be able to get a short way into the installer, and then you'll be stuck.
The only other way to legitimately purchase a key is if you already own a legal copy of the OS, and just want another key so you can install Windows on another computer without buying another box. For that, you contact Microsoft where they can verify the key you already have (you read it to them, of course), and they will then sell you another key.
The sure way to have it work of course is to buy a copy of Win 7. It has to be a full retail copy, not an upgrade box. There is a way to use an upgrade disk, but you also must have a legitimate previous version the Win 7 installer can see. Meaning, you need two DVD drives. I did find a few sites selling just activation keys, but they were of course all illegal as the sites had nothing to do with Microsoft.
    1) When looking for Win 7, be very careful on eBay. Purchase only an unopened box. Otherwise, chances are high the key has already been used by someone else.
    2) There are system builder versions, such as you see listed here. Those are OEM disks that were supposed to be bundled with the sale of a particular PC model. Microsoft themselves say you can purchase these OEM disks and use them, but they are a one time installation. Once the key has been used, it is tied to that specific hardware. So if you were to get a new Mac and wanted to install Win 7 again, you wouldn't be able to from that disk. You can find these all over the place ranging from $85 to $95.
Be forewarned that full retail (non system builder OEM copies) of Win 7 have gotten very pricey.

I recently was given a HP laserjet 4240n by my employer to use in a remote office.  I am using a Windows version 7 home premium 64 bit laptop.  I have tried the HP install wizard - no support for this printer.  I have tried downloading the "correct" driver - but that doesn't work either.

  • Xfi extreme audio SB0790 Windows Home Premium

I have installed Windows 7 upgrade on an HP desktop that was running XP Pro. Install went fine exept I have an error "No Audio Device Installed"? yet I have installed the Xfi extreme audio card in its slot. The card works fine with XP. I have gone with the windows update installed the current driver with still no luck. Searched the forums again no luck, have done my due diligence via the internet and with beta drivers and still only have the red X everytime I boot. What can I do to get this card working agian?

Re: Xfi extreme audio SB0790 Windows Home Premium0 As I stated in my first post I did my due diligence and after installing beta drivers for the SB0790 then installing the recommended driver dated July 09 it still does not recognize the device (7 Home Premium). I have gone through every forum google points me to we are not alone, taking advice I've installed then deleted these drivers about 0 to 20 times I've tried compatibility mode "Vista" "Vista SP", "Vista SP2", "XP", and so forth with no luck also running the driver as admin. Every time I update driver in 7 it tells me I have the current driver yet I have a red X and no sound.
I can't believe that Creative does not have working drivers for the final release of 7 knowing that they had 6 to 8 months to prepare. Really poor on their part.

  • How to install window 7 from recovery disc

    DEAR TECHNICALSUPPORT
I have purchaase new recovery disc of window 7 and want to install in my hp pavillion g6 1201TX but there are not done from this method ..
Turn on the computer, and insert the first recovery disc into the drive.
Press and hold the power button to turn off the computer.
Disconnect all connected devices and cables such as Personal Media Drives, USB drives, printers, and faxes. Remove media from internal drives, and remove any recently added internal hardware. Do not disconnect the monitor, keyboard, mouse, or power cord.
    Turn on the computer.
Immediately press the Escape key repeatedly, about once every second, until a Startup Menu or Select boot device menu opens.
The selections you need to make vary slightly depending on the type of menu that appears on your screen:
If a Select Boot Device menu displays, use the up or down arrow key to select the CD/DVD drive, and then press Enter to continue.
If a Startup Menu opens, press F9 to open "Boot Menu" or "Boot Device Options". Use the up or down arrow key to select the CD/DVD drive. Then press Enter.

  • Repeatedly asked to install Flash 11 on IE 9 Windows Home Premium 64 bit

From my admin account - I successfully install the latest version of Adobe Flash Player 11.  Everything works fine (in that same admin account) until a system reboot.  Then I receive messages from websites stating that they want me to install Adobe Flash.  I do so and all is well until the reboot.
I have followed all the instructions on the Adobe main troubleshooting pages from uninstalling, rebooting, reinstalling, rebooting through the deletion of folders at run %appdat%\Adobe - Flash Folder and %\Macromedia and then uninstalling, rebooting, reinstalling etc.
Again, I receive a successful installation message and everything works properly until the reboot.   Looks like a lot of users have had this problem, but I haven't found a clean answer. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
I followed one suggestion and downloaded and ran Secunia PSI and found no older version of Flash Player installed.  I do also have Adobe CS 5 Suite installed. I also started receiving messages from HP Solution Software that it would not operate until the latest version of Adobe Flash is installed.  I uninstalled the HP software pending resolution.  Uninstalls and reinstalls of Flash were not successful after removing the HP software either.

Hello, I too have experienced the repeating of installing Flash Player after performing a successful install. The PC is running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.16421, and Flash Player 11.4.402.265. The installation of the latest FP indicates a successfull install. Then when going to any site that uses FP, for example, weather.com, yahoo news, youtube, a message window indicates the latest FP needs to be installed.
I've went through the steps in thread 4613512 (FP uninstaller), 928315 (clean install), 987370 (permissions errors), the steps in this thread including deleting the %Appdata%\Macromedia folders prior to the install, removed references to Adobe 7 in the Windows registry (running Adobe 10.1.4). Also checked that Windows Media Player was not installed. It is not. All of the functions in the steps within these threads seemed to complete successfully. No errors or other problems were indicated. Would you have any suggestions on something else to try?  Thank you.
