Windows 7 hotsync with Centro

Help,
I have been looking all through these threads.  I now have Windows 7 need new drivers to Sync Palm Centro,  I know,  but I think I read it can be done with Bluetooth as well, but I can not find the thread that says how to do it with bluetooth.  Also is Palm working on new drivers for Centro and Windows 7?
any help would be great,
Beth

Just got a new computer with windows 7 and have had the same problem with my Centro. This is how I resolved it.
Made sure I had the latest version of Palm software on my computer.
*228 my phone to be sure the software was updated
Since it was a new computer I was first trying to sync all of the data from my phone to outlook 2007 and I kept getting conduit errors.
I exported each outlook file to a .pst file from my old computer and imported it into the new windows 7 computer. note, i first tried to do it all at once but it did not work.
next, I tried to sync the phone to the computer and got errors because the outlook profiles did not match.
To solve I made sure the .pst files were backed up on another drive and then i did a hard reset on my centro phone. (pull battery, old down power key while inserting battery. when the second palm logo appears let go of the power button)
Now, the phone did not conflict with the new software because it was cleaned of all old data.
I went through the bluetooth device discovery program on the phone and computer, make sure both devices are discoverable or viewable.
once the bluetooth was set up and working I did a hot sync and all of the data from my computer was loaded on to the phone perfectly.
I tested it back a forth a few times today and it seems to be working well.
I have not been able to get the cable to work but the bluetooth sync is working fine.
good luck
One more note,
I also updated my Outlook 2007 program. There was a patch relating to using 64 bit processors but I made sure that I did all of the updates before my final testing.

Yes, wrong place.  You are pulling down the Menu from the Launcher screen.
Look for a program icon called "Prefs". There will be numerous settings available inside this program.

  • Hotsync with windows XP Home

My Tungsten E2 has stopped hotsyncing with my windows XP computer. It worked fine for several months and now I get the message "The connection between you device and the desktop could not be established.  Pelease check your setup and try again."  I have two hotsync cables and have tried both.  I have tried a soft reset and that did not solve the problem.  I have also tried two different computers and it doesn't work with either, though it used to.

  • Centro hotsync with Outlook creates multiple folders in Notes

    Greetings,
This is my first post and I need help!
I just got a Sprint Centro two weeks ago and hotsync with Outlook.  Every time I hotsync, the process creates multiple empty 'Notes' folders named after the sync profile.  (You may know that in Outlook they are called Notes and in the Palm OS they are called Memos.)  The notes I have are actually synced fine.  However, extra four or five empty folders are created as well.  Therefore, potentially I could have hundreds of them after a dozen or so syncs.
    - I am using Palm Desktop 6.2
    - I used a Tungsten E2 before and all was OK
    - I have XP Pro
    - The Palm phone support suggested a hard reset and a new sync profile.  Same problem.
    - Support also suggested a new Outlook profile.  Don't want to do that as I can't afford to lose any data and settings!  Besides, their suggestion did not work and left me with a lot of work restoring data to phone.
There has to be a solution other than giving the Centro up for a BB.  I would appreciate any help.  I must say the Palm phone support has been atrocious!
    Thank you.

I don't know what causes this issue but I know how to solve it - ot at least work around it.
First of all you need to backup the existing data that you have within Outlook Contacts etc. You can do this easily by creating a subfolder under Contacts (e.g. called Backup) and just MOVING everything from the parent folder into the backup folder.
Then do another sync with the mobile and see what items pop up in Contacts. From here make sure you EDIT that contact with the additional data and save it. Once you do this, you won't get duplicates.
For some reason the Synchronise app will "key" to a particular user "record" (to use database parlance) leaving the original Outlook contact alone (if it's any consolation it happens on Blackberries too) - and this is the only way I know of which fixes it without buying 3rd party applications.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Edward

  • In windows 7 I can hotsync with Desktop 6.2 but I cannot change mail hotsync to Outlook instead of Palm Desktop

    Can anyone help me?
    I have a new computer with windows 7 (64bit).
My Palm device is a Tungsten T5
I tried first to install Palm Desktop from the CD (to be able to switch to outlook sync). But this version will not install.
Then I installed Palm Desktop 6.2 and I am able to Hotsync (via bluetooth) between Palm desktop and my Tungsten.
For Mail, Calendar etc I want to Hotsync with Outlook. But I cannot get that working. Tried to install outlookconduiter, but doesnot work.
Probably I need some code which normally will be installed from the CD. But that installation will not work.
Does anyone know how to solve this?
    Thank you in advance

    Post relates to: Tungsten T5

    Hello Alan,
Thank you for replying my message.
But I think I did not explain my problem good enough.
I will try to be more explicit:
I know that I don't need to install an outlook conduit. And I already am able to hotsync with contacts, tasks, etc. Only e-mail will not hotsync. The log says ok at versamail entry, but I did not find new mailmessages on my Palm handheld.
In my Tungsten I have setup an e-mail (veersamail) account.
On my old PC under XP I did setup (long ago) a versmail account seperatedly. When I tried to do the same under Windows 7 an error says: you must first install a Versamail conduit before you can setup a versamail account (on my PC)
But my versamail conduit is on the CD I got when I purchased my Tungsten T5. But installing from this CD is not possible under windows 7 (it hangs). When I identified I therefore installed Palm desktop 6.2, which does not include the Versamail conduit.
I did inspect the original CD but I cannot find anything of versamail. It is included in carrierfiles, I think. But I don't know how to extract and how to find the files I need for the versamail conduit.
    What can I do?
Only buy a new Versamail conduit??
Or do you know other ways to get the versamail hotsync working?
    Regards,
    Chris Beumer

    Hi,
I am brand new to this...bought an m100 at a garage sale...trying to use it on my windows xp...so I bought a trendnet usb to serial converter and set it up...i try to hotsync and it says "the connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established.  Please check your setup and try again".  At one point, COM4 was the port that was being used on local, but now it's saying that COM1 isn't available.  I don't know what i'm doing.  I just want to put some text into this device that i currently have stored in WORD on my PC.  Can someone help me in very simple terms?  I don't understand any of this lingo.

I just upgraded my palm OS to the latest version on my Treo 755p.  Prior to upgrading I did a verizon wireless sync and a hotsync with my windows XP based PC.  I list all my "documents to go" files that were stored on my phone.  They did not reappear when I did Hotsync after the update.  They were all supposed to be Hotsynced.
Where are these files stored on my computer?  How do I avoid this from happening again?

Folks, did you read the post about getting a "Bluetooth Dongle"?   Walmart.com has them for as little as $15 US.  This easily adds BlueTooth capability to any computer via a tiny device that attaches to a USB port.

  • Tungsten E will not hotsync with PC running Windows 7

I hotsync with Palm Desktop 4.1.4.  Hotsync worked well in Vista Home Premium 32.  After the change to Windows 7, Palm Desktop would not open.  It opens now.  It appears that the hotsync is normal, but no data is transfered from my PDA to the PC.  I've changed the settings in Custom several times.  I've checked Outlook.  The data is not being diverted there.  Any ideas would be much appreciated

  • T|X Windows Hotsync

Spoke to soon. I can't get my T|X to sync wirelessly. On the Hotsync screen on the T|X I chose look for PC on my network. It found my desktop and the wireless sync work. Okay lets try that again. No luck. Tried another "Look for PC on my network" this time and every time since, it can't find my desktop. I checked he desktop name. Even re-entered it and did another Hard Reset (held Power button down while hitting reset on back). Still can't find my desktop. Disabled my firewall, no change. Checked my Hotsync seetings on desktop, right IP address and network check. I should mention that I did a cable sync after the hard reset. It worked fine and provided my T|X with the address. I am getting an error message occasionally which is new and may help. Its titled "SMARTHEAP LIBRARY" and in the box it states "Mem_bad_Pointer" with the ok and cancel buttons.
    Ideas?

You set the static IP addresses in your router's internal settings, correct?
Have you made an exception in your Firewall for HotSync.exe?
Here's my text file I always use for Wifi HotSync.  Sounds like you've covered all bases, but read through it for the heck of it.
    Wifi HotSync with a TX
    1. On your PC, locate the HotSync Manager (little HotSync icon in the lower right tool tray on a Winbox). Click on it and check off "Network", then click again and select Setup.
    2. Pick the Network tab up top in the window that opens, and find your HotSync name in the list.  Make sure it's checked.
    3. Tap the TCP/IP button, and look at the IP address listed for "Primary PC Address". Write it down.
    4. Turn on Wifi on your Palm and connect to your router.
    5. On your Palm, select the HotSync program and tap the word "Network" above the HotSync icon in the middle of the screen.  Below it, enter the IP address you wrote down in step 3. (Include the periods!).  NOTE: If you don't see the "Select PC" entry under the button, open your pull-down menu and tap "Modem Sync Prefs".  Change it to "Network".
    6. Tap the big HotSync icon above the IP address, and hold on!  Your PC should sound the HotSync signal and begin a very rapid HotSync!
    7. If you're holding on, and nothing happens try a wired HotSync, then try the Wifi HotSync again.  Sometimes, information has to transfer from your PC after you check off the Network option.  Also, be sure to watch for any Firewall activity asking you about "HotSync.exe is trying to access your hard drive" etc.  You may need to set a rule to allow it.

I am having a problem getting my Palm TX to hotsync with my P.C.  The process goes well until it gets to the calendar. At that pint it stops.

    Post relates to: Palm TX

Hi..  Welcome to the Palm forums..  If hotsync is stuck at calendar or date book then most likely there is some corruption with the calendar data.  Go into the conduits and set the calendar conduit to do nothing and sync.  If all syncs fine it confirms that that it your problem.  Then go to http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/dbfixit.htm and download dbfixit.  This is a utility that will verify data problems, with the free version you will have to fix the problems it finds manually.  If you spend the $12.95 for the registration it will also fix the problems.  Download it and install it, with the calendar conduit still set to do nothing, to your TX then run it and fix the problems.  Then turn on the calendar conduit and sync.  Hopefully that will fix your problem.

  • Palm m100 HotSync with Outlook 2007

I have a Palm m100 which I routinely HotSynced with an old Windows ME computer.  That computer died, and I now have a Windows 7 machine with Outlook 2007.  What software should I load on my new PC in order to retrieve my Contacts from the Palm m100 and copy the Contacts into Outlook 2007?
    Post relates to: Palm m100

Unfortunately what you are asking for is something that we do not support. As a suggestion on how this might be accomplished you would need to install Palm Desktop 6.2. Normally that may be enough. Also we have not done testing on windows 7 to know if Palm Desktop will work on it reliably.
It also might be time for you to upgrade your device to push the chances up of this working correctly. Palm Desktop 6.2 was not designed to work with the m100 while the TX and Tungsten E2 where. Some older device may work due to other customers on this site stating they have it working for them.
