Windows 7& IE8

hi,
We are running oracle applications 11i clients in windows 7 professional 64 bit with internet explorer 8. After a while i managed to launch the application, i can now click on a responsibility and oracle applications launches successfully with the the responsibility menu. My problem is when i click on anything i don't get response unless i switch to another window and come back!!!!
Please help me

Hi,
I appreciate all the above responses. I'll try to answer all questions below.
I am working in windows 7 professional 64 bit machine for the first time.
My machine user is added to administrators group.
My default internet explorer is 32 bit, which i use; 64 can be launched on demand only
the recommended settings of IE are done; (trusted sites custom options)
i have installed the latest jre from java downloads, but i couldn't launch the application
I have installed the jinitiator 1.3.... and replaced the dll file Java in BIN folder and then I was able to launch the application successfully
Oracle applications is release 11i 11.5.10 and runs on Solaris
almost same problem is also in Netscape 9 in same machine.
Please note that I can launch oracle applications successfully, without the problem mentioned in Windows Virtual machine -Windows XP mode; I only installed jinitiator and replaced the DLL file .
What do you think???

  • Flash 10.2 not working in Windows 7 IE8 despite 'successful' installation

    Hi there,
    I downloaded flash player to attempt to view flash media on sites such as bbc website and youtube.
    Despite the installation claiming to be successful, I still cannot view video on any sites I have tried.
    (bbc website says I don't have the correct version, youtube says I need to upgrade)
    My system details are as follows:
    Windows 7 Home Premium, 32-bit operating system
    Internet Explorer 8.0.7600.16385IC  (it makes no mention of being 64-bit)
    Flash Player 10.2.152.26
    I have tried following the troubleshooting guides on the adobe website, particularly 'Flash player does not work in Windows 7'
    but I have not managed to fix the problem.
    I've also gone through several threads on this forum, relating to similar problems, but I'm sorry I haven't been able to fix it.
    So far, the stuff I have tried is listed below, but since it has not worked, I assume I have done something incorrectly, missed something,
    or I have not yet found the right solution.
    The Flash Player does not appear on my programs list, but it does show up in the control panel/list of installed programs.
    I don't know how to get flash player to run on its own, so I can't access settings etc. for the hardware acceleration.
    The folder located at C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash contains 5 files:
    Flash10m.ocx; FlashInstall.log ; FlashUtil10m_ActiveX.dll; FlashUtil10m_ActiveX.exe; install.log
    When I visit the adobe page for testing flash player, it does not show me any animation; there is a blank white rectangle with a tiny red 'X' in its top left corner, which I assume should be a box containing the version information if the player had been recognized.
    I have looked at the IE8 'tools/Manage Add-Ons - 'show' All Add Ons, and there is no listing of  'Shockwave  Flash Object'
    although there is a listing of   'shockwave activeX control' which is enabled.
    I've set my IE8 security settings to medium for the categories of 'Trusted Sites' and 'Internet' and I've made sure to set:
    'Download Signed ActiveX Controls' to 'Prompt'  and 'Run ActiveX Controls And Plug-ins' to 'Enable'
    I've tried unintalling the flash player using the specified tool, removing the adobe download tool, and manual re-installation.
    Finally, I tried (with much hesitation) to modify the registry key referred to in the Flash-Killer or 'kill-bit' guidlines.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility\{D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000}
    The key existed, with a Name: compatibility flags  ; Type: REG_DWORD  ; Data: 0x0000400 (1024)
    So I changed the value from 400 to 000 as suggested.
    This is not worked either, despite uninstalling flash player, re-booting and re-installing.
    Finally, I updated the graphics driver for my ATI RADEON HD 5670 card, but aside from scaring me by drastically altering the screen resolution and not allowing me to roll back the driver, it has unfortunately not solved the flash player problem.
    I appreciate that the people with expertise have given loads of help on this problem, I hope I haven't missed something important when following the advice, but I'm pretty stuck, so if anyone can help, I thank you very much.
    thanks,
    pad

    Hi eidnolb,
    unfortunately, the installation of FP 9.0.280 based on running flashplayer9r280_winax.exe has not worked:
    I cannot see the animation / spinning, there is no animation and no box showing the version.
    (I have included a partial screenshot in this message, file name flashplayer_test_screenshot.jpg)
    Therefore, I did not continue with the instructions.
    The control panel list of programs does show 'Adobe Flash Player ActiveX' as being installed, version 9.0.280.0
    There were no messenger utilites listed in the system tray.
    As you advised, the first thing I did was to modify the {D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000} registry key value from 400 to 000.
    After modifying the value by making it Zero, I re-started the computer.
    Regarding Administrator Account, I looked on ther 'User Accounts' information, and there is only one user, my dad, and he is listed as Administrator.
    Sorry, but I will need to ask for your further advice. In case it is useful, I tried to get a list of all processes that were running on the computer
    (in case some of them inhibit the installation. most of them don't mean anything to me, even when they are given a description by the windows 7 Task Manager Processes List - I have pasted the text file below in this post, since I couldnt see how to attach files.)
    thank you for your help,
    pad2001

  • Windows 7, IE8, and bookmarks

    Ever since I upgraded to Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 8, my browser bookmarks don't sync with the iPhone any more. Is there a trick to making this work?
    My guess (and that's all it is) is that IE8 stores its bookmarks in a different place than IE7 and previous versions did, and iTunes doesn't know where to look for them.
    After a sync, the only bookmarks I get on my iPhone are the generic top-level ones that come with IE8. None of the bookmark folders are sync'd.
    Any ideas?

    It could be a bug with how Windows 7 handles things. Maybe it will be fixed when 7 reaches final release.

    I hope this information will be of some help. Again, my goal is to uninstall and reinstall Adobe and Java. I would like to only have 1 version (if possible), making sure it's the most current one, while deleting/uninstalling any previous versions or unnecessary files/add-ons. Basically, just trying to get the computer cleaned up and make web browsing more efficient (recently have had some difficulties displaying web pages using these programs). I am familiar with the programs and processes as a whole, but I believe you have more intellect and experience in the detailed areas. Thank you in advance for your time, and let me know if you need any other info. Thanks! -B

    Anyone else have an issue where 11GR1 is installed on a remote server (Win2K3) and you can log in to EM console using Firefox but not IE8 from Windows 7? My Firefox on Win7 works fine but the integrated IE8 just hangs on the login screen and 'spins'. I had a co-worker test it on his XP box (using IE8) and it worked fine as well. It seems to just be an issue with Win7. My first thought was perhaps the way Win7 handles authentication (kerberos, NTLM, etc.) but I may be way off.
    Does this sound familiar to anyone? Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    11.1.1.1 does not support IE 8 you need to upgrade to 11.1.1.2
    cheers

  • Trouble reinstalling CS4 using akamai downloader Windows 7 IE8

    I have recently done an XP Professional upgrade to
    Windows 7 install.
    I am needing to reinstall CS$ Design premium on this machine and am having trouble with the akamai downloader. Apparently it doesnt like Windows 7 with either IE8 or Firefox 3.5.
    I have disabled the popup blocker and even the protected mode on IE8 without luck.
    I would be content with downloading the product with a standard download but do not know how to disable the downloader.
    Does anyone know who to disable it or the steps to do it?
    I have made an attempt with support but they tend to ask the most frustrating questions and the time lapse makes it worse.
    Thanks!

    Do you still have th
    IE8 problem if you un-install CS4?
    I had a similar problem with CS3, but IE8 works after an un-install.

  • Dedicated Client leaves iexplore.exe running after shutdown / Windows 7 IE8

    Hi All,
    Recently I have noticed an annoying behaviour of the Siebel Dedicated/Developer Client on Windows 7 with IE8.
    Everytime it is being shut down, it leaves the iexplore.exe running. This is especially annoying when developing on Win7 because everytime you compile some changes to your SRF, a new instance of iexplore.exe will be started, while the old one is not killed. So after 2-3 hours of development I have like 30 iexplore.exe processes running and finally Siebel starts to do strange things (compiled changes are not reflected in the client, old objects are shown etc)
    I know there is already a CR on MOS: 1226854.1 but I was wondering whether someone has found a way to stop this? I assume there could be some registry parameter or IE setting to make it behave like before?

     Not sure where to look now.
    That's normal.  The 64-bit process is called a "chrome task" and the 32-bit processes are called "tab tasks".  You can use  WMIC  to check them:
    wmic.exe  Process  where  Name="iexplore.exe"  Get  CommandLine, ProcessId
    you will notice that they are correlated by  SCODEF:  being equal to the chrome task's PID.

  • Windows 7 IE8 32bit Shockwave installs but can't get it to work.

    I have tried many locations on this site to remedy this problem.
    The player installs and passes the test of installlation, however when I go to say Yahoo games
    it reinstalls, then installs additional compatibility items and craps out about 90%of the way and the program will not open properly. This is version 11.5.7.609. I have uninstalled and reinstalled at least 15 times. I have also downloaded the uninstaller from this web site, but no difference. Please can somebody help me on this issue? I have also checked and made the necessary corrections in the firewall. Still no good. Help!!!!

    I hadn't
    used the full installer previous to your respone. However upon seeing your response
    I uninstalled Shockwave player and downloaded the full installer to my desktop.
    Opened the installer and installed, opting out of the google tool bar as usual. Went to the following URL http://games.yahoo.com/daily-games/wordsense.
    What happens is the site does not recognize the activeX control and immediately starts a down load of compatibility components. After which a window pops up asking if I wish to install the google tool bar as the previous download did. I select no and then a smaller install bar starts its job which makes it about 4/5ths the way across then opens the wordsense "downloading dictionary". Which it does for a few seconds and then blanks out and does not proceed.

  • Flash Player not loading or working- windows 7 IE8

    Several months ago, after some update I assume, Adobe Flash Player stopped working. I've installed and uninstalled repeatedly and tried to follow help instructions, no luck.
    When I download flash it goes through the process and says I'm successful, but then when I go to any page that needs Flash, it tells me I don't have it. And on the flash info page, www.adobe.com/software/flash/about I see the "f", but its not animated and the image that I guess is supposed to show that I have flash installed shows as a blank.
    I uninstall and that seems to run through a process too...  says its been succesfully uninstalled, but I just sat here and ran and re-ran that uninstall, each time its telling me its successfully uninstalling.. I think it would run 100 times so either its doing nothing or I've got an unlimited number of these flash programs installed.
    I have Windows 7, IE 8, IE does not show 64 bit any where so I assume it's correct.
    I just changed security in IE to medium from medium high... tried to load again, restarted the computer, no luck.
    When I go to view addons as I saw in earlier suggestions I don't see Shockware Flash listed any where, not blocked, not showing at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

    First thing to check: do you have the "kill-bit" for Flash Player set (e.g. by some malware): http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
    If you have, don't fix it manually (unless you are very confident using the Registry Editor); just post back, and someone will post an easy way to remove that "kill-bit".

  • 32-Bit Windows 7 IE8/9 Flash Player Size issue.

    I have a 24inch 1920x1080 monitor. I want to read the text on the screen but at the IE defualt of 100% it gets very tideous trying to read the wrighting and its the same with Adobe Flash player it becomes ridiculously small. I like to have my browser at 150% everything fits the screen better you dont have these giant borders on either side of what you are looking at and you can read the wrighting easier, but here comes the problem adobe flash player video (minus youtube videos) stays the same size as if I was still at 100% and doesn't fill the flash player margains. id expect the video to enlarge with the browser? No?
    Before you ask ive turned off hardware acceleration and that did not work.

    Thanks for the reply.

    Hi, it would be best to see what you do have Installed in the Flash folder. Post that info back. Right click on the NPSWF files and then click on Properties to obtain the version numbers.

    flashplayer.xpt

    Also, using IE, go to Tools, manage add ons and search ALL add ons for Shockwave Flash Object..ActiveX Control..Flash10e.ocx should be listed and make sure it is Enabled.
    I don't have any Flash IE plugin. Don't really use IE, just Firefox. Nothing Shockwave Flash related listed in there.
    eidnolb wrote:
    When you said you removed the plug-in for Firefox, I'm not sure I understand what you removed. Did you not re-install Flash Player for Firefox when you ran the Uninstaller for Flash Player?
    Thanks,
    eidnolb
    I should have made that more clear. I went to Control Panel -> Uninstall a program and then removed it there. After that, the folder was still there in the system32 directory so I renamed it to be safe that the old is not being used. Then I went to Adobe.com and installed the flash player through the browser with their download manager.

  • Windows 7 / IE8 Converts AIR file to ZIP

    The AIR install badge works perfectly OK for most of my customers but occasionally ther are problems.  To overcome this I have created a support page with a direct link to the .air file (and also a .air.zip for Mac OS X as this unzips the file in the download process).  When I click the Save Target As... option in IE 8 it changes the filetype from .air to .zip and then saves it as a .zip file extension.  If I manually change the file extension back to .air then it works just fine however having to talk customers through the process of showing file extensions and then making the change is not exactly professional.
    Any ideas how I can overcome this?
    TIA

    Not quite sure I understand where I need to apply your suggestion.
    My HTML for the link to download is quite simple:
    <a href="http://www.adv.co.uk/reader3/AirReader/uat/AirReader1.29.air">Windows and Linux</a>
    Is it here that I need to make the change - and how - or somewhere else in the page?  The site is on a Linux server.

  • Unable to make Seibel work in windows 7 IE8!

    Hi,
    I am unable to use Siebel in my desktop. I just reinstalled my operating system. I've been given some set of instructions by my employer to use Siebel from home ... but it doesnot seem to work.
    Maybe the instructions are incomplete (because last time i got it done from my employer)
    Instrutcions:
    http://sampark.itgi.co.in/finsechannel_enu
    IE8>Tools>Internet Options> Custom Security>Enable>Enable>Restart.
    This seems incomplete to me...
    What am i missing here?
    PFA screenshot of the error message...

    Thanks. An IT guy from my office takes remote access and does something in IE8 ..
    Here is what i have i guess but i think it is not complete:
    IE8>Tools>Internet Options> Custom Security>Enable>Enable>Restart.
    In these settings i don't know what exactly he "enables".
    Will try what you suggested.
    Thanks again.
    EDIT: It worked! Thanks much. This was quick.

  • AutoInstall problems in Windows XP SP3 + IE8

    I'm trying to autoinstall the JVM from a cab file using an OBJECT tag, but I have problems when I try in Windows XP SP3 + IE8.
    My code is the following:
    <OBJECT id="appletComprobarSoftware"
         classid="clsid:CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-FFFF-ABCDEFFEDCBA"
         codebase="http://java.sun.com/update/1.6.0/jinstall-6u15-windows-i586.cab">
    </OBJECT>
    If Java is already installed in the machine, the JVM installs correctly in the browser but, if it is not installed and it is downloaded, when the installation finishes, the browser turns into "no response" state and I must close it.
    So if I try to execute an applet, using the code below, and java is downloaded because it is not installed in the machine, the applet will never execute since after java installation the browser must be closed.
    <OBJECT id="appletComprobarSoftware"
              classid="clsid:CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-FFFF-ABCDEFFEDCBA"
              codebase="https://java.sun.com/update/1.6.0/jinstall-6u13-windows-i586.cab">
              <PARAM name="code" value="es.spee.arq.pub.firmadigital.DummyApplet.class">
              <PARAM name="archive" value="DummyApplet.jar">
    </OBJECT>
    I have tried with several java versions and the results are always the same, but the same code in Windows Vista or Windows 7 + IE8 works perfectly.
    Do you know what is the problem and how to solve it??
    Thank you very much.
