Windows 7 in OS printer driver for Deskjet 6840 not printing properly

The Windows 7 (32 bit) in OS print driver for the Deskjet 6840 produces print in "Normal" mode that is blurred (not properly registered left to right and slightly vertically). When printing in "Draft" mode it is apparent that the driver is not setting the left and right margins correctly, so that each line is alternately shifted left or right on the page. If I switch to a 500C driver, the printer works fine (but of course high res images do not print properly). This is occuring on two wired network computers, both running clean installs of Windows 7 professional with all current updates including Service Pack 1. Microsoft says, "It's a HP printer, it's their problem". I'm just looking for an answer. Anyone have experience with this?

Hello Bhl3302,
Thanks for posting at NI forums! I think you should follow RavensFan advice on contacting the vendor for information on the driver’s support, or if you have a readme file, you could check on that. Also, are the Windows XP and Windows sharing the same architecture (32 or 64 bits)? Maybe the driver is not compatible with one of them, in case it changed. I did a quick search on the error message you're getting, and I found this forum in which they give some steps you could follow regarding the INF file. For instance, in one of the comments, they say they had a similar issue with another device and they found some work arounds.

    Hi:
I don't think it is a big deal but let's see if we can find a driver for it.
Please click on the missing keyboard filter in the device manager. Then click on the details tab. In the Properties drop down list, select the second item (Hardware ID's).
Post  the top string of characters you see in the window.
That will give me more information to go on.

    Hi
I cannot believe that you are not able to install the LAN driver on this A100 Satellite!
However, the Sat A100-784 supports an Intel 82562GZ 10/100 Mbit (Ekron) Lan chip.
If you want you can download and install the Lan driver from the Intel page:
    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Product_Filter.aspx?ProductID=999&lang=eng
There you will find the drivers for the Intel 8256x Ethernet Controllers

  • Vista driver for deskjet f2180 on Windows 8.1

I have a new Windows 8.1 desktop (64 bit), a Vista laptop (32 bit), and an HP F2180 printer/scanner. F2180 is connected to desktop via USB, is shared, and works fine from W81. I can't get it connected to the Vista laptop.
On the desktop, when I check the box "x86 Type 3 - User Mode", I am told to find the driver. Any idea what the file name and location are?
    TIA.

Hello there TIA, Welcome to the Forums! I hope you enjoy your experience
I noticed your post about your Deskjet F2180 not functioning on your Windows Vista system. I would recommend (from the Vista laptop), running the full driver installation. This should install the driver properly on your laptop.
Here is the link to the driver: HP Deskjet F2100 and F4100 Full Feature Software and Driver

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I understand you need the drivers for 10.7.5.
I will be happy to help you.
Unfortunately there are no HP drivers available but I did find the HP Deskjet F2100 series driver from Apple's Website which hopefully will work for you. It is a fairly large download.

  • Driver for OfficeJet J4580 Not Working with Windows 7 Professional

I am trying to install the driver on a new Toshiba laptop but the driver keeps failing.  I have tried the Basic and Comprehensive drivers.  After downloading, I get a prompt to extract the driver, then I get an error message that says the file is corrupt, cannot extract. I get the same error message with both drivers.   I am downloading the drivers from the HP website. I am using Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.  I do not have the printer plugged in (it's plugged into my very old Windows XP laptop and works fine there).   I have left e-mail messages to Support through the HP site and have not gotten an answer.  Is this printer just too old for my new computer?  Do many of the HP printers have problems with Windows 7?  Any assistance is appreciated.  Thank you!

    Hi @OrdinaryHPUser,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that you cannot install the driver for your HP Officejet J4580 on Windows 7. I am happy to help!
Full feature software and drivers, are available for this printer on Windows 7. So the printer is compatible. I would recommend to try the following steps:
Uninstall the software. Uninstalling the Printer Software. (Only if the software is partially installed, otherwise you can skip this step.)
Clean boot the computer. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Disable any Antivirus programs. Disable Antivirus software.
Disable any firewall programs. Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
Create a new user account. Managing User Accounts and Logins (Windows 7).
Reinstall using the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.
Hope this will solve the issue, and have a good day!

  • Help: I need Windows 8.1 32-bit Driver for my Officejet 4215

I need driver for my Officejet 4215. I downloaded the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows - hppiw.exe from http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Officejet-4215-All-in-One-Printer-series/351105/model/351107?sku=Q5601A&ssfFlag=true#Z7_3054ICK0KGTE30AQO5O3KA30R1 with the expectation that it will help locate and install the appropriate driver online, but disappointed, as I was redirected to click on "update driver" after locating my printer in the device manager. Cant HP provide a link to the driver as they use to do before? This will save customer from unnecessary hassles. Up till now, the problem has not been solved!

Due to the age of 4215 you will need to use the built-in driver in Windows 8.1

    Hi,
The printer is no longer supported since Mac OS X v10.6 and will not become supported on newer OS versions in the future.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01856359&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=295931
However you may still find some 3rd party solutions which may allow you using the printer.
Try the HPIJS 3rd party print drivers below, be sure to install any of the 3 required downloads and then follow the Set Up instructions.. those drivers compatible with any of the latest OS versions and list your printer as supported:

  • Is there an Android driver for DeskJet e3520

I have a Samsung Tablet that I would like to print to an HP DeskJet e3520 printer.  It appears that there is no driver for such an application, despite the fact that HP has an Android Tablet.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Hello, and Welcome to the HP Support Community!
There are no printer "drivers" to be installed per se on Android devices.  They need an app that can transfer the file, usually wirelessly to a similarly capable printer.
HP offers the ePrint program (free in the Play Store).  Since your printer is ePrint-capable you can print two ways:
    1. Register the printer with HPconnected.com, and receive the email address you created for it.  Now you can email files as attachments to the printer (if you have it connected to your Wifi network at home!)
    2. Using the built-in "share" function in Adroid, you can "share" a file and direct it to ePrint.
Note:  The ePrint app must be activated first, with a code you request from HP.  Open the app to activate it.
Note2:  The built-in "Print" function in Samsung tablets will only work if you have a wifi-enabled Samsung printer.  This is the way Samsung designed it.
I'm going to move this post to the ePrint section where printing from Samsung tablets has been discussed many times.

  • Windows Vista Update posts 64bit driver for Qosmio F30 32bit Vista

    Hello
Today I've noticed that Windows Vista update is posting the wrong update for one of Qosmio F30 drivers.
I have Windows Vista 32Bit but Windows Update post a 64bit version of the driver.
    see the screenshot [Here|http://imagefilehost.googlepages.com/f30Wrongupdate.jpg]
    Any idea?

    hmm... this is strange ?:|
The Toshiba x64 ACPI compliant driver means definitely a 64bit version!!!
I dont know why the Vista driver update notification reports an 64bit driver for a 32bit OS but usually the 64bit driver shouldn't be compatible with the 32bit OS.
However, the case seems to be clear dont install it if the driver is not designed for your OS.

  • Windows 8.1 64-bit driver for Coprocessor on Mid 2009 Macbook Pro 5,4

I have successfully installed Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit onto my Mid 2009 Macbook Pro 5,4. The installer from BootCamp 5.0.533.5033 would not run, but I installed one-by-one the files under Apple and then ran the 64-bit nVidia installlers.  I have everything present and accounted for except for the 'Coprocessor.'
I have looked through the forums and everything seems to indicated that if you install the nVidia drivers it will install the driver for this but it doesn't.  Any thoughts/suggestions/solutions?

For anyone who will find this post in the future, the Device Manager indicates that the 'Device Instance Path' is
    pci co-processor pci\ven_10de&dev_0aa3&subsys_cb7910de&rev_b1\3&21436425&0&1d
Searching for that online, it appears that this is the nVidia MCP79 Co processor System.
This driver did not install with version 306.37 that came with the BootCamp drivers.  I downloaded the current version from nVidia of 334.89 and that didn't work either.  I searched online and found a driver for an Alienware 17x that uses the same co processor and ran the installer which extracted the files for the nVidia chipset v. 15.57 for 64-bit Windows 7 and Vista to c:\dell\drivers\R273039 and pointed the Device Manager to this folder and it was able to successfully install the driver software for the Management Controller (drivers are listed under the SMU folder for the "PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0AA3" device).
    NVIDIA nForce System Management Controller
I then proceeded to use Double Driver to backup the drivers in use by the system so that if I install Windows 8 on future systems I can use this rather than the round-about way of getting the driver installed on the system.
