Windows 7 incompatible with Adobe 5

I have a Mustek A3 USB 1200 Pro scanner, and I need to install Adobe 5 but I get an error message saying Adobe 5 is not compatible with my Windows 7.

Mylenium,
Thank-you for your response. I am attempting to install a "new" scanner, albeit maybe not the latest version by the manufacturer. The brand is Mustek, and the
model is "Scan Express, A3 USB 1200 Pro." The installation CD that came with the scanner includes a Step to install (Adobe) Acrobat Reader 5.0, which it
appears to actually install. However when I attempt to display the (pdf file) User Manual, which is the next Step on the disc, I get an error message advising that
Acrobat 5.0 is not compatible with Windows 7.
I have installed, and been using to read pdf files for many years, AdbeRdr1001_en_us. Yes, it is listed among the Programs installed on my laptop. Whenever
a window pops-up, from Adobe/Acrobat, requesting that I update my installation I do so.
I KNOW that I am not very good at anything much more complicated than using the programs already on my machine. But, I was under the impression that when
one had the "newer" version of a software program it would be able to read an application originally-intended for an older version. The installation disc clearly
states that it IS compatible with "Windows XP/Vista/7."
Should I be conversing with the Mustek Technical people, instead of Adobe ? The reason that I contacted you is because that is what the Error Message -slash-
Incompatible instructions instructed for me to do.
Thank-you, again, for replying and I appreciate any assistance/guidance you can provide.

  • Incompatible with Adobe InDesign (Error code: 14)

    Hi all,
I've been having major problems with InDesign CS3 and OS 10.5. It always crashes when I try to Place, Export, Save As, anything that requires it to navigate the finder.
Now, while trying to export to PDF, the document froze. So I had to force quit it. Now ANY InDesign file I try to open gives me the error message:
The file "file name" is incompatible with Adobe InDesign (Error code: 14).
Has anyone experienced this? I'm now stuck as I cannot open anything to get some work done.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi all
I have the excat same problem. Indesign CS5 and also my CS4 comes op with the error code 14.
It qrashes before I get into the program, also when I open it throug the program Icon and not the file.
    I have tried:
    Restarting
Shot down and take out the power cord for severeal minutes
Deleting the preference files "Defaults" and "SavedData" manualy
Deleting the file "InfoPlist.Strings" in folder "itlproj" which was a folder that keept showing on restart. (it was a italian languae to a dropdown shadow throug Flash CS5)
Remove indesign CS5 and CS4 (with the program uninstall icon) and reinstalled it
I have no clue to what more I can do. Think it could be a system fault. I have the following:
    Mac OS X Version 10.6.8
    Dual core Intel Xeron
    Snow leopard
It just suddenly didnt work. Couldnt copy paste text from a mail into a file in Indesign and then it just crashed. Havent installed any new updates or programs so it is very weird.

  • Snow Leopard Incompatible with Adobe

I received one of the first iMacs pre-loaded w/ SL, only to find out Lightroom is incompatible and won't install. After spending several hours on the phone with Adobe and Apple Tech Support, they confessed that they are not sure what software will work with the new OS, and have no timeline when non-functioning softare will be made compatible. My assumption is none of Adobe's Creative Suite is compatible, although I'm not going to spend any more fruitless hours on this project. Apple's final solution is to send me a 10.5 Leopard disk to install and see if that will work. As a former Windows user, this smells exactly like Windows Vista / XP...

The most current version of Lightroom is 2.4 I believe and it runs in Snow Leopard as do both CS3 and CS4 and I'm sorry you've not been getting straight answers but that is, unfortunately, the nature of Adobe's relationship with Apple and the software company's careful use of language to avoid saying anything that it might be held to later.
Adobe officially says CS3 is not supported for SL but it runs and I think it actually runs better on Snow Leopard than Leopard. Adobe wants you to upgrade to CS4 so, in my opinion, the company is using language to scare you away from CS3. Adobe talks about a Snow Leopard version of CS4 being delivered sometime in the near future but that doesn't mean the program currently doesn't work. It does. The company is merely engaged in CYA and tweaking Apple's nose.
Now having said all this, you need to know that Adobe products often need to be uninstalled and reinstalled to work properly. Adobe doesn't follow Apple's rules and those are the consequences for us. Actually I was rather surprised to discover that Photoshop and InDesign (CS3 versions) didn't need to be reinstalled after I installed Snow Leopard but LightRoom did.

  • How to fix problem with opening pdfs in Windows 8.1 with Adobe Reader XI?

Every time I try to open a pdf on my new laptop with Adobe Reader XI, I get a message than either the file is not supported or its damaged. But it still opens fine on my old laptop with Windows 7.
    Any suggestions?@

Hi. Thanks for taking the time to answer. Upon further investigation, it appears that the original pdfs I was transferring from my old computer to my new one were “grayed out” on the flash drive, so they wouldn’t open on the new laptop. When I went back and reloaded the pdfs again, they weren’t grayed out, and now everything’s working fine. But again, thanks so much for making the effort to help. I really appreciate it.

  • Win7 Incompatible with Adobe Acrobat 6.0

Hello! I have a big question here. Currently I have Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard software that was normally apply with Windows XP Pro. However, when I upgraded my Windows XP Pro to Windows 7 – I found out Windows 7 has a known issue with Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard. As a result, all attempts to install Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard were terminated. Now, what I would like to know is, do I have to buy the latest Adobe Acrobat Standard again, or is there a fix to make Acrobat 6.0 Standard compatible with Windows 7? Thanks!
    LESALAKSK

The same is true with VISTA. A few with AA7 have been able to get it to work, but AA8.1.3 was generally required. It appears that for Win7, you need AA9. You may want to wait a bit or search the forum for others' experiences. At this point in time, I do not think that Adobe has certified any AA for Win7. That does not mean they will not run and apparently AA9 has no problems as such, but is just a statement of the status. AA6 will likely not work.

  • Is Workspace incompatible with Adobe Reader LC?

Reader XI is the standard at my office and is installed as the default PDF handler for most users. We have an issue where one of our users updated to Reader DC, and while they were able to view and fill out a form in Workspace, they were not able to submit it. Is Reader DC incompatible with Workspace?
The form uses the process fields object to submit.

No, it has not been resolved. Right now we are neck deep in developing an LC project so more research on our end has been put on-hold; I posted this here hoping that someone had encountered the same issue, or that perhaps someone from Adobe would see this and could get us the information we need.
For the user in question we had them uninstall DC and reinstall XI. Our agency has a policy of keeping pretty up-to-date with various versions so I know we are going to have to address this further at some point in the near future, but we haven't gotten there yet.

  • CS4 incompatible with Adobe Soundboard?

Trying to solve a preblem with recording audio in C4 (it converts mono to stereo left channel), I decided to try to do my recording in Adobe Soundboard (CS4). When I try to import a WAV file created in Soundboard into C4, it chokes and says it can't decode the file. Adobe didn't create two products with incompatible WAV formats, did they?!

    Hi there
The WAV needs to be PCM encoded. Perhaps try configuring Soundboard (isn't it SoundBooth?) so it outputs PCM encoded WAV. Either that or output as MP3. MP3 should come into Captivate without quibbling.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Boot Camp 2.x and Windows XP incompatible with Radeon 1600 Video Adapter

Using Boot Camp Assistant 2.0 from a Leopard Install, I generated a 20GB partition and installed Windows XP SP2 reformatting during the install to NTFS. At this point things seemed to be working well. I then used my Leopard Install disk to update the MAC drivers. Now when I tried to reboot, I see the Windows splash window, the screen goes black, the screen goes cyan, then the screen goes black and stays that way. At this point, I cannot do anything with the Windows XP partition other than a power down by holding the power key. If I try to reboot on the XP partition, it goes through a hard drive repair, then goes black screen, light blue screen, black screen, hung. I can boot with Safe Boot, but I have no keyboard or trackpad drivers. I can run the system with an external USB mouse and keyboard.
A friend found that the Video Adapters being used were a problem. (We can't find the reference.) If I go to Start/RightClick My Computer/Hardware/Device Manager/Video Adapters, I can right click on whatever adapters are located there and Uninstall them. At this point, the system will boot up fine using a generic video adapter. I don't know how well it would work if you wanted to use it for high speed gaming.
On bootup I could get to the Internet. I went to Start/All Programs/Windows Update and did the Windows Update. I did it twice to get everything updated to Service Pak 3. (I have read that there is a problem if you upgrade the Apple Drivers to version 2.1 before you upgrade to Service Pak 3.)
At this point, I installed the Boot Camp Update 2.1 and all worked well. I then installed Update 2.2 and the video was again a problem. It appears that the system was booting up ok, but it was happening behind a black screen. If I booted up in Safe Mode, connected a USB Mouse and Uninstalled the Video Adapter/Radeon 1600, I could boot up and the system worked fine.
Unfortunately, Windows (for the first time that I know of) was smart enough to recognize that there was new hardware (the X1600) and it reinstalled the @!#$#-ed X1600 driver without asking me. Now I couldn't reboot without it hanging again.
The final step was that I found that if, instead of Uninstalling, I Disabled the X1600, I can now run using the generic Video Adapter and Windows does not re-enable it.
I hope this helps anyone who has a similar problem, so they don't waste 2 weeks like I did.

    Hi Dave,
    thanks for these informations.
Before my beloved 2006 iMac went awry and finally bit the dust, I have used the ATI MobilityCatalyst Drivers for XP.
If you're in for another try, here's the link http://support.amd.com/de/gpudownload/windows/Legacy/Pages/radeonmob_xp.aspx?typ e=2.4.2&product=2.4.2.3.10&lang=English
Using the Generic Microsoft Graphics driver is IMHO not a solution, as it really only supports a minimum of the capabilities of the X1600 and is definitely not suited for gaming.

  • IDVD incompatible with Adobe LightRoom

I've just spent the last hour trying to work out why iDVD crashes (no warning) when I try to preview a slideshow I've just added to my project. I had added a folder of JPEGs which I exported out of Lightroom using the save as original format (they started as jpegs from a few compact digital cameras). I eventually tried different jpegs (not from lightroom) and they worked fine. So I opened graphicConverter and removed the meta data from the lightroom ones and tried again. This time they worked fine.
Perhaps Adobe is exporting non-standard meta data but even if that is the case iDVD should have handled it better.
I found a few errors in system.log like:
NSExceptionHandler has recorded the following exception:\nNSInvalidArgumentException -- * -[NSCFDictionary addObject:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x183a9480
An exception of type NSInvalidArgumentException occured.

Does anyone know if CS3 mastersuites will work with windows 8.1 operating system?

That version of the application is not supported on that operating system. CS3 software was developed many years before Windows 8 was available, so there is no way that they could have been tested together.

When the Acrobat 10 plugin is enabled, Firefox menus don't work properly -- they disappear when dropping down, they oscillate, or just the outline is visible without the menu items. Disabling the Acrobat plugin immediately fixes the errors.
