Windows 7 install disk not booting

Im trying to instal Windows 7 on my Mac Pro dual core 2.66. Model MacPro1,1. Mac os is 10.6.8. Boot Camp 3.0.4
After running BCA, I click to start the install, the computer reboots, and 1 of 3 screens shows up.
I eather get a gray screen and after about a minute the disk ejects.
or
I get a black screen that says,
"No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key" and again the disk ejects
or
I get a black screen that says,
          1.
          2.
     Select CD-ROM Boot Type  : _
Any ideas?
and yes it is a lagit copy of Windows 7, I just bought it from Best Buy and cost me $200 for the full version.

I suggest you take your computer to a repair shop for some hardware diagnostics.  It impossible to tell you exactly what failed.  It could be a component on the motherboard; it could be a failure in the system memory; there are just too many
possibilities to speculate what happened.

  • My new iMac does not recognise an iso image of windows install disk in boot camp

I have the iso file for win7 64bit but when I run bootcamp I do not get the option to use a USB stick, so loaded the file onto a DVD-R disk.
When I load the disc the iMac tries to read it then stops and asks to me to put the disk in.
I am logged in to the machine as the administrator.
As a registered MSDN member I downloaded the iso file direct from the Microsoft MSDN website only a couple of weeks ago.
Any asisstance will be most appreciated, as I am a Mac newby and I really want to dump my old windows laptop and desktop machines1

  • Resized partition using Disk Utility and now Windows 7 will not boot

    Hi,
    Hopefully someone can help me!!
I had previously used Boot Camp to install Windows 7. However, I later realised I had not given myself anywhere near enough disk space as I started using Windows for things I hadn't originally planned on using it for.
Anyway, long story short, to solve the problem I uninstalled some applications on my Mac OSX and used Disk Utility to decrease the size of my Mac partition. My plan was then to reboot to Windows and use a Windows application to increase the size of the Windows partition. However - I coudln't even get that far.
Upon decreasing the size of my Mac partition (succesfully) I restarted my Mac in order to boot to Windows. However, I was greeted with a message along the lines of "unable to boot to Windows please insert boot disk and press any key" (I can't remember the exact message).
I was wondering if anyone knows of any way to restore my Windows partition, retaining all of my previously saved files on my Windows disk. It's probably a long shot, but the thought of losing everything I have been working on for the last few months is a sickening one.
What does give me a bit of hope is that, if I click Boot Camp it seems to recognise that Windows 7 is installed as the option that appears is to uninstall it.
Furthermore, if I view partitions in Disk Utility, a "DISK0S4" is listed. However, it's only at 20gb - if this WAS my BootCamp partition previously, it was originally at something around 60gb (I think - either way, definitely bigger than 20gb!).
On top of this, my current Macintosh HD parition is at 260gb and with the DISK0S4 partition at 20.21gb, there seems to be some space missing... I'm hoping this is the files I've been working on over the last few months!
Anyway, I've done some searching on the net and it *seems* that GPT fdisk *might* be my savour. I've downloaded it but have no idea how to use it and don't plan on playing about with it as I could no doubt do some real damage. If it is likely to solve my problem however, I'm certainly more than capable of being walked through what I need to do.
    Please help!

    Hi Christopher,
I also have problems with Windows rebooting after partition resize trying to reduce Mac side and increase Windows side. I do not see the BootCamp partition labelled as such while running disk utility. The Windows partition shows up when I boot up while pressing the ALT key. However, when I try to run Windows, it says " error loading operatig system".
I also followed instruction and went through to run gdisk successfully. Results towards the end.

  • Why can't I boot from  my windows install disk using an external dvd drive?

My internal disk drive is broken on my computer, so I'm using an external one, but when I put my windows install disk in, it shows up when I'm using the computer, but it doesn't show up when I hold ALT on startup. Why is this?

Alt/Option Boot code is all in ROM. It shows an Icon for each potentially-bootable Volume.
Your Windows install DVD is not directly bootable, and so it does not show an Icon. (An OS 9 Installer CD would not show an Icon either.)
To install Windows, you need to research the use of Boot Camp, the software that provides Mac drivers and facilitates the Installation of Windows on a Mac. There are also Windows restrictions on the use of external drives which you may have to meet.

  • MacBook Pro 2010 hangs when booting from Windows install disk

    Hi there,
I'm trying to install Windows 7 via Bootcamp. I've used Bootcamp before so familiar I'm with how it should work. I have a USB CD drive, which I've used on other machines OK, and an official Windows Install Disk.
After Bootcamp finishes copying over all it's drivers etc to my external USB drive, it reboots. However, whenever I try to boot from a disk it always just hangs on the Apple logo (no spinning cog/wheel). This happens whenever the Bootcamp installer performs a reboot and/or when I hold down ALT on startup and select the boot CD.
I can still boot in to mac partition. Could this be a problem with the EFI? Any help with identifying this problem or how get the information to fix this problem would be much appreciated
    Thanks.

Windows 8 will not boot, gives Bad_System_Config_Info error.
It will not boot from disk, let me refresh, or let me reset my windows system.
A couple of times i have gotten windows to boot from the disk and it asks if i want to instal windows 8 or there is a tab to repair my computer.
Should i just go ahead and click instal windows 8, and then backup that fresh instal with my backup drive?
Or will this complicate the problem?.........

Wow, how about you guys just answer the dude's question instead of posting useless garbage. thanks for wasting everyone's time.
The only way I know of fixing this right now is unfortunately by doing a clean install. Thats not to say however that you won't run into the same problem down the road. To be honest, even tho Templeton's answer was useless, he's right. Seven is currently way more stable.

  • Where do i get a windows install disk???!!!!

where can i get a windows install disk? do i have to buy a new windows os?
    thx

No because then you will have not only have installation issues but also validation issues. If you are using Boot Camp on your Mac to install any of the windows versions then you will need a FULL version of the Windows operating system.

  • HT3986 can bootcamp be used with Windows install disk on an external drive (internal is broken) ?

can bootcamp be used with Windows install disk on an external drive (internal is broken) ?

With Boot Camp, you must install Windows onto in internal HDD (or SSD).  If you are referring that your internal Optical drive is broken, you might be able to install Windows from an external drive, but you might not.  I have heard varying levels of success with that.  I'm not sure what the official stance is, but I do know that if youe machine shipped with an internal optical drive, then you must use that to install Windows using Boot Camp and not swap it out for a "data doubler" and try to install from an external optical drive.

windows xp will not boot up after installation of desktop software 4.3.  Where do I start to get my p.c. going again ???

I get the message that a recent hardware or software change might have caused this.
The computer does not boot up in safe mode or last known good configuration.
I'm glad you think the software has nothing to do with it, but perhaps you can also explain why this problem started as soon as I downloaded the desktop software and tried to restart the computer.

In the second step of bootcamp, I am supposed to either check the box where it says create a windows install disk, what exactly is this? Do I need to do this? I have a windows 7 install disk, but I don't know what this means.

If you already have Windows on a DVD or USB drive, you don't have to tick that option. That's only for people who have Windows on a ISO file and have to burn it into a USB drive

  • Windows 7 Pro Install disk not recognized

    Hi everyone,
I have checked this forum and found several discussions regarding this topic but no clear solution.  I am trying to create a Windows 7 Boot Camp partition on my late 2008 MacBook Pro.  I have a DVD drive with the following specs:
    MATSHITADVD-R   UJ-868:
      Capacity: 3.22 GB (3224993792 bytes)
      Model: MATSHITADVD-R   UJ-868
      Revision: KB19
      Serial Number: dE018A75
My problem is that my drive/computer will not recognize the disk.  I have several times inserted the autentic Windows 7 Pro install disc that I puchased from Microsoft, only to get the following error in Boot Camp: Install Disk Could Not Be Found
I should mention that I have installed windows with this install disc on this computer with the existing DVD drive before. I have no idea why it is not working this time!
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!

Have you tried to install without the driver? then install the boot camp drivers after Windows has been installed.

  • Windows startup disk not showing up after the boot camp is done partitioning.

OK, Boot Camp finished making a partition for windows on my SSD (I gave it 30GB), and it restarded my computer. I pressed the alt key so i could chosse the windows drive so i could begin the installation, BUT the option to open the windows drive was not there! The only otions I had was to startup from Mac OSX, Recovery Disk and a USB Flash drive Named Windows(I tried it previously but it didnt work because it didnt detect my mouse or keyboard). I the booted up from mac so i could make sure that the partition was created and it was. When i went on startup disk preferences on System Preferences the computer couldent detect a Boot Camp drive only the main Macintosh HD. What am I supposed to do?
    I am using a Macbook Pro late 2013 13"
(excuse my English as it is not my first language)
EDIT: I do not have NTFS 3G or a similar program installed.

    a few things
what is your exact model mac? which windows are you trying to install?
i'm a fan of small windows partitions, but 30gb is too small unless you're absolutely sure that you will not use any major data consuming apps like music, video or gaming. also, you will HAVE to disable hibernation and the pagefile (google). the smallest we run is 35gb with 40gb being much better
does your mac have an internal optical drive? if so, you need to burn your windows iso onto a physical disc unless the newer 2013 macs let you usb install, which would be news to me
use only a usb2 flash drive

I haven't found any known issues. I going to try it out here. What's the security update you're installing?. I noticed there's a bunch of them in the Microsoft web site.
What CAN hardware do you have (PCI, PCMCIA, etc)?.
